As we can see , a lot WM6 , WM6.1 Rom for HP6828 & HP6818. After upgrade some people wanted to back to WM5 but facing the problem .( I also one of them ). After search through the net , I get a solution from someone , this is due to Model ID been overwrite . I already modify my Revision 2 ROM and add the HP Model ID in . For those people who want to flash the HP6828 back to WM5 , you may flash my revision 2 rom . It will repair your Model ID . After that just download the HP original wm5 rom and you will be able to flash it .


1 . Downgrade your bootloader to Version 1.01 from link

2 . download the zip file from the mediafire link.
3 . unzip the file you will see 6 file inside , diskimage_Ver.nb0 , Device Software Update Utility.exe , EBOOT.nb0 , ExtendedRom.img , nova_pda_033105.mot and vl1d_pda_Ver.mot.
4 . copy diskimage_Ver.nb0 , Device Software Update Utility.exe , EBOOT.nb0 , ExtendedRom.img , nova_pda_033105.mot , vl1d_pda_Ver.mot to " C:\Windows\temp "
5 . Press both soft key enter your phone to bootloader mode . than run Device Software Update Utility.exe . Follow screen instruction click next and upgrade.
6 . Now the rom upgrade in progress , it take about 20 minute , until it reach congratulation page than click exit . Done it will automatic clean boot and reset to factory default.

just download the hp rom utility pgrogram link that I post . Before start the program , press ang hold your phone both soft key bottom , than reset untill the boot loader screen come out. than release the soft key . Connect the data cable and start the HP Utility.

Under bootloader mode , connect data cable . Check under PC device manager , can you see " HP USB sync " , If no that may be your pc detect the phone to something else . Just find the device and remove it . after that refresh the device manager and your pc will re detect and correct the problem.

No i didn't downgrade my device.
Because my BLoader is 1.0.5 so that i just flash ROM by miniSD card only.
This is step by step to upgrade the Rom via miniSD card :
- First you must have .nb0 ROM had cut first 12 bytes by WinHex.
- Rename it to diskimg.nb0, and copy to miniSD card (root folder).
- Go to Bloader : press "_" both key and soft-reset untill show HP PBL.
- It will auto flash your ROM, it's take approximate 15' - 20' then auto hardreset.

You can go to BLoader by this steps :
1. Re-copy the ROM has work with your device to miniSD card (diskimg.nb0)
2. Unload the battery,
3. Press "_" both key, don't loose.
4. Load the battery and softreset (stylus)
Waiting the white screen, and reflash.

After I had flash this Rom, I found that it could not use O2 plus. Therefore, I flash back to the Atom Exec Rom. Initially, It seems all okay. However, after using the HP6828 every 5 to 10 minutes, the screen turns white. Does anyone know what happens? Anybody helps me?

If possible try not to flash rom by sd card because HP6828 have no official wm6 rom . The rom that we use was modify from other ppc . I flash it back to yourRom again and the problem that I encountered has no longer appeared. However, I can't use the the O2 Plus now. :( When I check the system info in the device, I find it is an Atom Rom. Why it can't use O2 plus?

Now, I can't see the battery remaining and the memory remaining on my today screen. Do you or anyone has a useful software to display the battery remaining and the memory remaining on the today screen. :confused:

Hi guys, i'm using a rw6828 and tried flashing the rom but i forgotten to delete the EBOOT.nb0 before i clicked "upgrade". Then the program stopped at 6% for a long time and didnt move. I disconnect the cables and tried to turn the device on.

THe device can go into the wm6 and the start button can be use but the screen is "moved" to the right side and other function is not working. Can someone help me with this? Thank you.

hey guys this will my first post on this forum and once again to the developers thank you for cooking up a wm6 rom for the rw6828, i have loaded this rom and noticed the flash doesnt work when using the camera function ( camera software seems to be the 02 version not the HP) I noticed in the diag test that the flash does work..any1 experience this problem or know a fix for it. i have tried also using the hp camera cab from another forum loading that stops the camera completely so i un-installed it.

again the rom seems to be the most stable one compared to the others

is there a fix or a reg change to solve the flash light issue on this rom release?

IS your device 6828? have you applied the cab file that is for download to fix up bugs? anyways, for me, the only bug i found is windows live messenger, i cannot sign in with my account at all, the only option i have is "sign in" and when i press it its says :

"there's connectivity problem.make sure you're in an area ith good phone recption and try again"

....anyone know how to fix it?

hi ABS, sorry for the late reply, yes, thats the patch im talking about, so u are on the right track, about your contacts, maybe try to clean the sim card contacts, because it also happened to me as well the first time.

about my live messenger, the application opens, but the application do not have a window to let me sign in and when i choose windows live to sign in; the options menu is greyed out....strange....anyways...otherwise everything is 100%!

Successfully followed the instruction to downgrade to Bootloader 1.0.1 and to install the Revision Rom on my rw6818. I must insist that a clean reboot is a very important for the success of upgrade. I did not get the clean reboot properly done and resulted in contacts in a mess.

Bluetooth stereo on my OMIZ5670 headphone works fine. I had problem to use the Bluetooth headphone with Atom Exec WM6 upgrade for rw6818 before. I have downgraded back to WM5 in order to enjoy Bluetooth Stereo

Btw do you guys tried to press the power button several times ( meaning to say your screen will turn on and off ) and the device will just went into "sleep of death" ? I've tried Atom Life ROMS from Wantat's and Tangjunhu's and both seems to be the same. I've tried to remove the miniSD and remove all programs except the ExtROM but the bug still occur.

Tested the Live messenger, first time logging in prompts out an error of connectivity problem. Second time login OK. Seems like it depends on the date since it requires our date and time to be synchronize to the server.

thank you wantat, I tried all others ipaq roms, your rom is the best one for rw6828, battery life normal, live messenger works, stero BT works, camera works.

Those 7 HTC cabs I installed them all, but don't really know how they works.
So I uninstalled them to save ram.

I would like to use the HTC home and HTC cube if possible.

Something intersting happened 2day while i was making self test for the ppc i found that the flash works then i though why doesn't it work so i opened the camera turned on the flash it didn't work so i tried to take a photo the there were 20 to 30 seconds the ppc freezed then the photo was taken and the flash worked i tried it again and again it works only when taking the photo after the push of capture by 20 to 30 sec. waiting

From my experience , I tested XDA Atom Atom Exec . I found that XDA Atom is more stable for HP 6828 . You may try my Revision 1 rom , improve battery brain and speed is more faster .

Since you mention Atom Life is more stable for HP6828 , I will try to make one . Once ready I will upload to First page for you to try .

the HTC rom works good, I like the HTC home and HTC dialer, thanks.

The touch and cube also works, I played with them, but I uninstalled them later to save space.

There is a problem with HTC weather not downloading weather data, but I can live without it.

I think I will continue to use this rom.

This HTC is using I-contact . It can only show the contact which save in phone .Just copy all your sim contact to phone. About your Activesync , go to your phone settings - system - about change the device ID to HP6828 . If still cannot , than hard reset and try again .

So use software utility to flash rom . Because HP not provide wm6 upgrade , so we use atom utility . Due to difference rom structure , the way to flash the rom have to be very careful . With the instruction given , sad to hear that still got people forgot to delete the Eboot than the phone dead.

Someone from "pdafans" had develop a software which combine HP bootloader and atom rom together . So from today onward all the rom that i give , the flash procedure change .

1 . Downgrade your bootloader to Version 1.01 from link

4 . copy diskimage_Ver.nb0 , Device Software Update Utility.exe , EBOOT.nb0 , ExtendedRom.img , nova_pda_033105.mot , vl1d_pda_Ver.mot to " C:\Windows\temp "
5 . Press both soft key enter your phone to bootloader mode . than run Device Software Update Utility.exe . Follow screen instruction click next and upgrade.
6 . Now the rom upgrade in progress , it take about 20 minute , until it reach congratulation page than click exit . Done it will automatic clean boot and reset to factory default.
7 . IN WM6 , copy the ExtRom.cab to the memory card and run . After this process , the wm6 installation is complete done .

Yeah!!! I've same problem with you before... You can use DRUU (by chartreux) to exit from bootloader.
Are you sure "Checksum Test" in "HP Self Test" PASS... I've meet this error (Checksum test : fail) and I can't connect to HP original rom, but now I can... I use many menthods to do it, but I don't know which make it possible.

Try to flash your rom again and exit you antivirus before you start . I never facing battery problem with revision 1 , about HTC rom maybe because too many application running background .

I think there are some bugs in the Revision 1.
1. It turns on the Wifi automatically after every soft reset.
2. It is about the camera. The screen flashing and cannot caputure. After the HP 6828 had soft reset, the problem disappeared.

Try to hard reset , don't run auto configure when the system prompt . I suspect could be cause by auto config .

You need to add x-button program to startup , because the x-button installation cab only install the program into your wm and didn't add any shortcut in startup. The program should located under - start-program than you will see it. Tast manager should located under -setting-.

I tried too with various task manager still the same. X-button uses the in HKLM>init registry under Launch91=taskserStart to initiate the x-button. Manually added in still the same it just won't launch.

Try using both SP34053 & SP34074 also cannot. It will stay in bootloader mode (PBL1.0.1) for more than 40mins and sometimes just switch off.

Ends up have to restart bootloader and flash to WM6 Rev1 again.

Try disabling your antivirus , if still cannot than reinstall your winzip or winrar.

Yes , no need to install exrom anymore. I haven try kumaran rom because that time was busy. .. I myself is using revision 1 because is stable . About the games because I never play those games , so I did't realise that the games gone . Will check it later.

Hopefully your boot loader is still OK. Use different ROM (mini SD version) and flash from your mini SD, read forum for instruction.

in the first step i forgot it and i was able to use the phone without. now it is installed but took a lot of my memory! so i like to know why i need it and wats happen if i use the phone without it?

by the way until now i only fund one problem, i can't connect to gprs. don't know if the problem comes from the rom or my network adjustment.

I not use this rom because I found out is not stable . The reason need to isntall extrom because Atom store some file in external rom . Hp have no external rom , so I create extrom.cab to replace the external rom . Without running this , you camera , o2 media plus and other..... may not run .

yes i use wantas mdifyed kumara 6.1 on my HP6828 and i have only 2 issues until now, my gprs can't conect and a lot of memory lost because the extrom. but everything else works well and looks great

thank you wantat, I tried all others ipaq roms, your rom is the best one for rw6828, battery life normal, live messenger works, stero BT works, camera works.

Those 7 HTC cabs I installed them all, but don't really know how they works.
So I uninstalled them to save ram.

I would like to use the HTC home and HTC cube if possible.

Actually I facing the same problem also , sometime it work , sometime it don't . Download this update utility program http://www.mediafire.com/?ee0y9ywn3jy and past it to c:\windows\temp . When the program run , under ' Update Item ' use Up Down arrow key to select ' OS Only '. Than run the upgrade .

I also faced this problem before.
I think we should not remove the SIM card during the update process.
After I had inserted the SIM card into the HP 6828 before upgrading, the problem did not exist.
I hope this method can help you. :)

U dont have to change your bootloader if your version is 1.0.5 which is official latest HP ROM. Flash once only anytime anywhere without a pc if, let say, your ROM corrupt when u were out of range. Just flash and restore.
Lots have been said through various threads, maybe just browse around...

5 . Press both soft key enter your phone to bootloader mode . than run Device Software Update Utility.exe . Follow screen instruction click next and upgrade.
6 . Now the rom upgrade in progress , it take about 20 minute , until it reach congratulation page than click exit . Done it will automatic clean boot and reset to factory default.

I have flashed the Komara Version WM6 which is the last one on the first page successfully. But when I try to connect it to my PC, it cann't recognize my HP6818.
I try to reinstall the ActiveSync and it doesn't work.
Then I try to let ActiveSync to scan my mobile device, and the dailynote is like the following.

If you seek for newest one, i recomended this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=389743) one, using WM 6.1

Ext Rom mean Some extended aplication (package in one file) you should install after install main rom witch purpose to make your gadged running stable and match with Rom maker want
