Hi,
I'm in the same situation (minus second device), if you find a solution please let me know.
Try with this tool to make a dump http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=238945 but first you need to run explorer. Here you can find http://uploaded.to/?id=1ak1mz what to put on SD-card to access explorer.
On "MyGuide 3100" autorun is not working so you need to run the dump program manual from explorer, the dump.bin will be in root of SDcard.
Regards,
Bogdan

if you dump it your magellan please sent me winceimg.bin(hapko0@yahoo.com) thank you!

The *.lst say to pna how to install new rom.......

If you edit a *.lst file you can find something as :

TINYNK.bin
DRIVERS.bin
NK.bin
chain.bin

*.bin are the image of software

in this example chain is windows ce.

useless, this is only xipkernel part of the rom. unless the rest of the OS is in a user accessible disk...

and that OS image, has it ever been tested on an actual device? seems an unformatted straightforward ram dump to me.

And when taking the dump with Grab_It_128Mb it make a 128 Mb dump but when i use dumprom to extract the file it extracts only 2.5 Mb of files. ( The files foun on the "\binFS" partition have around 30 Mb).

OSLoader is useless outside of old Ipaq's

grabit needs NOR flash for it to work.

there is no proper rom dumper for the magellan 1200 currently. what CPU does the 3100 have?

If somebody want to run iGO on his Roadmate 1200,so follow the thread:
If have found this way on magellanboard and try to translate it in English version. So if there are mistakes in the English Language please don`t kill me.
Special thanks to cx° from Magellanboard !!

Software :
*iGO 2006 Plus PNA , this software is on My_Guide 3100 in the folder "SD-Card\iGO",for maps search the net, gpsunderground for example
*the packet from Berlinetz-> http://rapidshare.com/files/74970118/MRM1200FSv1.zip.html
*the program MSCEInf to extract cab-files
http://codeppc.com/telechargements/msceinf/msceinf.htm
*the new Version GAPI VERSION ( download the cab file) (Version V4.01 with Roadmate 1200 assistance)->
http://www.wincesoft.de/html/gapi_for_hpc_s.html

Let`s go:
1.First make a copy of your Roadmate device !!
2.extract the MRM1200FSv1.zip
3.extract the GAPI CAB with MSCEInf,then...
4.Copy the files from the folder program and windows of the GAPI for HPCs and overwrite Gapi for HPCs in the patch of Berlinetz.
5. the file /PATCH/SCRIPT/Start.mscr has a little bug.You can fixed it with http://magellanboard.alpentourer-alpenpaesse.de/viewtopic.php?p=4232#4232
6.install the files from Berlinetz on Roadmate, the tutorial is written in German !
if there are questions try to translate with http://dict.leo.org/ , if i have the time i will translate it.
7.Make a new Coldstart and the you will see the MortScript Menue->start the FileManCE-Manager
8.copy the file "GX.dll" from the folder GAPI for HPCs to \windows
9.Over FileManCE start the GapiSetup.exe and choose the Roadmate1200,save and close
10.Copy the files from iGO to a new sd-card,there are different files like exe, dlls, etc. If there is the file gx.dll , delete this file because iGO must use the gx.dll from the folder \windows on the Roadmate.
11 Put the sd-card into tje slot and start iGO with FileManCE or create a new folder in the Start.mscr
That`s all,good luck

you need an edited rom that doesn't look for that hardcoded nav program name, and also will autolaunch some filemanager so you can access your files. or maybe explorer. I'm going to try this with marco21.

Hi,

I had a problem with Magellan RoadMate 1200. I had this navigation with empty memory, when its start show me SysView.
I try to debug file WINCEIMG.BIN and ........ found solution !

It's very simple. I used a SD-CardReader in my PC. Ok, lets run ...

1). Format or clean SDMMC Card (min 64MB)
2). Make in root folder of SDMMC Card file 'GC333AutoRun.inf'. Contens of this file is:

open=\APP\mgnShell.exe

3). Make in root folder of SDMMC Card folder named 'APP'
4). Copy to this folder all files from the backup file of memory (I have this file)
5). Insert SDMMC Card into RoadMate
6). Turn on RoadMate and reset

RoadMate starts with WinCE, then starts file 'mgnShell.exe' from 'APP' folder of SDMMC Card.
'mgnShell.exe' file is a main module of communication subsystem.
Now you can connect USB cable to RoadMate and to your PC. RoadMate is working as USB Storage ! :)
In Windows XP 'My Computer' environment RoadMate's memory is shown as two removable discs:
- first is TFAT or TFAT32 labeled
- second is without label
Use Copy/Paste method to copy all necessary files to RoadMate.

Good luck for everyone ! :)

Hi Denuin,

Yes, you have found exactly what you need :)
but you must rename ALL THIS FILES :(, The name of each file must be without 'temp_' .
After rename, you should copy all renamed files to SDMMC Card to folder 'APP' and follow my instructions. :)

Good luck !

Hi,

Ok, let try another way ...

I used files from "Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe"
1). Extract all files.
2). Take from folder 'COPY_GROUP_1" file WINCEIMG.BIN ( lenght 5979759

bytes, from 2007-12-14 17:18:48)
3). Take CLEAN !!! SDMMC Card.
4). Copy WINCEIMG.BIN to root folder of SDMMC Card
5). Make on your PC a text file named WINCEIMG.CKS. Contens of this file

is:

binsize : 5979759
checksum: 0x24DB1E5F

6). Copy file WINCEIMG.CKS to root folder of SDMMC Card

Now you should restore operationg system from SDMMC Card.
To do this:
1). Push Power and reset button, go to the Bootloader menu
2). Choice 'Update OS (HDD Format)' option by pushing 'Reset' button
3). Push 'Power' button to confirm operation and bide until message

'Please remove SD Card !' appear :)
4). Remove SD Card from RoadMate and reset

Now your RoadMate starts with 'clean' WinCE 5.0 Core and you should see

SysView on the screen.
Follow my previously instrucion to restore the rest of files :)

Good luck :)

OSLoader is useless outside of old Ipaq's

grabit needs NOR flash for it to work.

there is no proper rom dumper for the magellan 1200 currently. what CPU does the 3100 have?

Hope This Helps

Magellan roadmate 2200T

In Boot Loader - Win CE Upgrade - Wince by SD

I get checksum error

I have tried several cards, a 32MB card, formatted to FAT, with the files winceimg.bin and winceimg.cks, the checksum is found with Winhex compute hash - 32bit CRC, winceimg is from Magellan2200T_or_Crossover_2_14 update, I have tried other bins, also get checksum error, or if passes checksum I get invalid image message.

How do I 'clean SD card'? Why is checksum failing? Can I bypass Checksum??

Hi,

Ok, let try another way ...

I used files from "Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe"
1). Extract all files.
2). Take from folder 'COPY_GROUP_1" file WINCEIMG.BIN ( lenght 5979759

bytes, from 2007-12-14 17:18:48)
3). Take CLEAN !!! SDMMC Card.
4). Copy WINCEIMG.BIN to root folder of SDMMC Card
5). Make on your PC a text file named WINCEIMG.CKS. Contens of this file

is:

binsize : 5979759
checksum: 0x24DB1E5F

6). Copy file WINCEIMG.CKS to root folder of SDMMC Card

Now you should restore operationg system from SDMMC Card.
To do this:
1). Push Power and reset button, go to the Bootloader menu
2). Choice 'Update OS (HDD Format)' option by pushing 'Reset' button
3). Push 'Power' button to confirm operation and bide until message

'Please remove SD Card !' appear :)
4). Remove SD Card from RoadMate and reset

Now your RoadMate starts with 'clean' WinCE 5.0 Core and you should see

SysView on the screen.
Follow my previously instrucion to restore the rest of files :)

Good luck :)

Contens of this file is:

open=\APP\mgnShell.exe

Ok, after getting it working, I ran the official firmware update, and now it's stopped working :(

The device boots up, shows the Magellan screen with the progress bar, and seems to be starting up ok. Then it shows the screen attached, and hangs. No matter what I do, I cant seem to get it to bypass this screen. I guess it's trying to apply the update, but it just stops at this point. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks.

hello

how bad can be ?

accidentally deleted everything on TFAT from a MRM1200.

tried to install again WinCE as described in Post #59 .

installed all files,etc...the says "remove storage card."

remove card, turn off the device, then turn on, restart...

the device is loading then the loading bar stops something like at 60% and screen becomes blank.

also tried to install USB drivers and so on...everything described in Post #53, the device is seen in Win XP, added APP and SYS folders from Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe , and no results (same thing. loading bar stops and blank screen)

whats to do ? any ideas ?

thank you

Hi!
I see that You found solution for Magellan Roadmate. It's great.
I have the same issue with my Maestro 4210, but I couldn't find any information how to restore this device. Actually I've tried to do everything like You wrote before, but nothing. :(
OS Update was complete but after restart device don't startup from SD. Maybe this is problem with "AutoRun" file, I mean in the name of this file. Maybe for 4210 It's gonna be another one.
So, if somebody know answer for my issue, PLEASE HELP ME!!

Tnx a lot.

I did the first steps and I could see in my computer the TFAT and "removable disk" when I connected RM1200 to USB port. I also did update using Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03 but after update it is asking for SD card. I saw update has Europe basemap. Do you have the US version memory backup so I can use it to restore my RM1200US?
Thanks a lot in advance, Florin
PS I have US map SD card that I checked is working in another unit. Unfortunately that unit has a broken USB port so I can not use it to get the necessary files.

I have tried to follow the instructions, and have tried copying the files both from my backup of TFAT and from the Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03 file. All I get is a blank white screen. I can mount the device on the computer, and copy files to it, and I can access the bootloader and update the software, but all I get after is a progress bar on a white screen (no "Magellan"), and then white. the screen dims after a moment, and if I tap where the "OK" button usually is, I hear a tone, but then nothing else happens. If I tap around on the screen for a while, it reboots. I cannot see sysview. I can access the device from the computer, but I don't know what else to try to copy over.

Hi,

Ok, let try another way ...

I used files from "Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe"
1). Extract all files.
2). Take from folder 'COPY_GROUP_1" file WINCEIMG.BIN ( lenght 5979759

bytes, from 2007-12-14 17:18:48)
3). Take CLEAN !!! SDMMC Card.
4). Copy WINCEIMG.BIN to root folder of SDMMC Card
5). Make on your PC a text file named WINCEIMG.CKS. Contens of this file

is:

binsize : 5979759
checksum: 0x24DB1E5F

6). Copy file WINCEIMG.CKS to root folder of SDMMC Card

Now you should restore operationg system from SDMMC Card.
To do this:
1). Push Power and reset button, go to the Bootloader menu
2). Choice 'Update OS (HDD Format)' option by pushing 'Reset' button
3). Push 'Power' button to confirm operation and bide until message

'Please remove SD Card !' appear :)
4). Remove SD Card from RoadMate and reset

Now your RoadMate starts with 'clean' WinCE 5.0 Core and you should see

SysView on the screen.
Follow my previously instrucion to restore the rest of files :)

Good luck :)

My Magellan Maestro 3225 stopped working after I tried to change the splash screen. I went to the Bootloader and formatted the HD. I need the ROM disk image (winceimg.bin) for Maestro 3225 on the SD flash drive so I can reinstall the OS and have the GPS unit recognized as a USB drive again. Then I can re-write the MAP, SYS, USR and APP folders which I already backed up. Is there a way to fix the Magellan 3225 GPS unit?

Hi guys, I can't use the "Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe " file, because when I double click it, it started an installation process which my Magallen 1200 does not work with it.

My question is - can any one send me a copy of the WINCEIMG.BIN ( lenght 5979759 bytes, from 2007-12-14 17:18:48) ??

I totally screwed up my GPS unit with a 32M WINCEIMG.BIN file; I am desperate to get it back alive.

Thanks a lot!

Edit - found how to: rename the extension from EXE to ZIP, and then open the ZIP file.

Hello everybody,

Well I tried HarryA's second version of how to reset my roadmate 1200. Seeing as I did not have the original magellan 1200's backup files I had to try and copy the winceimg.bin and winceimg.cks files to the SD card. I did the reset and it got the magellan to a file manager screen, but once I get to that screen, I cannot click anything, it is as though the screen is frozen. Oh and by the way I also never saw the "Please remove SD Card" message that is supposed to appear. This is the furthest I have gotten to fixing this problem and I'd appreciate any help.

Thank you.

Found it on my old desktop that is now sitting collecting dust. So if anyone needs them I can send them no problem. You might need to edit the Unit_ID.dat file and put in your Serial # but it should work.

The problem I’m getting now is after I copied the backup files to the TFAT drive, its states

“SD card has been removed. Program will restart. Please insert SD Card with map”

I never touched the SD card that came with the unit, ie., format, and or recopied the maps. This is the original untouched SD card! I do have another card I tested by coping the Maps over, but I’m still getting the same Error. Is there some sort of master rest to get the maps working?

Does anyone know how to keep the Unit_ID.dat from resetting after a restart? I think that’s my main issue. This is what my dat file does after restart

Model name=Magellan® RoadMate
Model number=1200 US

Serial number=????????????2
Code Flash size(MB)=0
Nand Flash size(MB)=0
Program RAM size(MB)=26

If anyone can offer me some help I would greatly appriciate it. I have read the pages from begin to end about 3 times and have followed all the instructions on fixing the gps but no luck. The SD card i had had to be reformatted so all of the info on it was gone. I have no backup of any of the files but from reading the forum that did not seem to stop others from restoring their GPS devices. I initially created the APP folder and included in it all WIN files but that was useless. The GPS always started and upon completing the loading it would go into Sysview. I turned the gps on in program mode by pressing the reset and power button and i tried to do an update that way but that just made it worse. Now when i turn the gps on the progress bar does not even more anymore. Can anyone offer some advice please? I really do not want to use this gps as a door stopper. Thank you in advance.

For us Fools (myself inc) that have wiped out the os on the roadmate 1200
I have been able to get the unit up and running to be able to push buttons and file system that's as far as I got.
what we need are screen shots.
If anyone with a working 1200 can take a screen shot of the file system (tfat) so we can put the right files back this would be a great help words are good but photo's are better.
mabey with this info we can get some where .

PS this is what worked for me see below.

It's very simple. I used a SD-CardReader in my PC. Ok, lets run ...

1). Format or clean SDMMC Card (min 64MB)
2). Make in root folder of SDMMC Card file 'GC333AutoRun.inf'. Contens of this file is:

open=\APP\mgnShell.exe

In Windows XP 'My Computer' environment RoadMate's memory is shown as two removable discs:
- first is TFAT or TFAT32 labeled
- second is without label
Use Copy/Paste method to copy all necessary files to RoadMate. This is why i can go no farther --WHAT FLIES DO WE COPY??????? What are the necessary files???

Good luck for everyone !

A few days ago i was at the "replace sd card" stage and totally ignorant but now i have two sd cards one with igo8 and several maps and the other with miopocket3.Both cards boot when inserted.
I deleted the Navigator.exe file in the TFAT/APP folder and all the other folders and when the unit is turned on it just goes to the blue screen with Magellan and looks like usb storage and can be fiddled with.
Reread Harrys posts and read gpspassion forum posts about roadmate and mio pocket and you will get there eventually.

I got the rom same as below if you need it..
work on getting it fully up but so far maps read all is weell 1 problem old frimware and think im in west coast. ha ha updating frim now will report back friday.
you will need your unit SN#

lobolove
18th September 2009, 04:34 PM
Up and running.
1st if you can see your unit get your SN# and right it down you need to change it in . -> backUP\SYS\USBTRANS\Unit_ID.dat open and change it in your rom before you copy it over to unit.
get rom .
http://www.rapid8.com/index.php

(copy and search above for it) Magellan_1200.rar

change SN# in file then copy all of it to tfat and reboot should work.
but it's a old vers so download update and update it.
1200 update -> Magellan_Roadmate_1200_US_1.50_3.12_Rel1.zip you can get it from magellan or google it.

good luck I will not leave you all if you still need help or cant get file email me.

OK, I'm stuck at a white screen and need help. I've read all the instructions at least 10 times, followed them to the letter, and my Magellan 1200 is still stuck at a white screen. The unit has been reloaded with Windows CE Core 5.0 (the WINCEIMG file) several times per HarryA's instructions, and all the backup files (downloaded) have been installed. It connects to the USB port of my XP box. I can see the unit from my computer, the TFAT has all the files, it even took the current software update from Magellan (1.50) with no complaints. But upon reboot, all I get is the blue Magellan screen followed by a totally white screen.

Help!

*****Update****1/9/2010**

HarryA
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2142285&postcount=59

Ok, let try another way ...

I used files from "Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe"
1). Extract all files.
2). Take from folder 'COPY_GROUP_1" file WINCEIMG.BIN ( lenght 5979759

bytes, from 2007-12-14 17:18:48)
3). Take CLEAN !!! SDMMC Card.
4). Copy WINCEIMG.BIN to root folder of SDMMC Card
5). Make on your PC a text file named WINCEIMG.CKS. Contens of this file

is:

binsize : 5979759
checksum: 0x24DB1E5F

6). Copy file WINCEIMG.CKS to root folder of SDMMC Card

Now you should restore operationg system from SDMMC Card.
To do this:
1). Push Power and reset button, go to the Bootloader menu
2). Choice 'Update OS (HDD Format)' option by pushing 'Reset' button
3). Push 'Power' button to confirm operation and bide until message

'Please remove SD Card !' appear :)
4). Remove SD Card from RoadMate and reset

Now your RoadMate starts with 'clean' WinCE 5.0 Core and you should see

SysView on the screen.
Follow my previously instrucion to restore the rest of files :)

Good luck :)

(Hope never die)

I Did as these instructions said. It completed like said and told me to remove the card. AS soon as i removed i got a white screen. Then i pushed the reset button. Unit restarted and now the loading bar scrolls about 60% and then stops and goes to a plain white screen.! Whats going on? What am i missing ppl? IM thinking that scroll bar is supposed to go all the way. Right?. Help please. At least now im getting the scroll bar to move.. but i need to finish this.

It sounds like you played around with the bootloader menu? And pushed "Initialise NVS". If yes, you deleted the serial from your Roadmate. This cannot be undone.

Ok, I have a Magellan Roadmate 1200 that I tried to install MioPocket into without having the SD map card and inadvertently deleted the program files ( removed the internal files of the GPS to a new folder in my computer so I still have them) when I removed the files, I moved the USB cable and caused the unit to disconnect thus rendering the unit unreadable to my computer. This part is for Harry A, I tried the first way you describe to reboot my GPS and it did not work for mine, and on the second way you describe I cannot find the download of "Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe" anywhere. Any time I try to download it, I get a deal where it says I have to sign up to download, I have signed up to 4 different websites and have gotten nowhere. Can anyone either point me in the right direction where to download the file from without a bunch of crap, or if at all possible, can someone PLEASE send me the file "Magellan_RoadMate_1200_1215_2_03.exe"???? Thank you to anyone that can give me any help.

Now I have tried formatting the SD card to all 4 different formats, and I cannot get this solution to work, does anyone have any idea what to do to either get the original files put back into the GPS or install MioPocket? One final point, when I start it and SysView comes up, the Serial Number is just a bunch of little squares. Oh, and the files I put in the SD card are of course 'GC333AutoRun.inf' containing 'open=\APP\mgnShell.exe' and the folder named 'APP' containing the files named 'APPMODE', 'CTYHIST', 'SESMODE', 'STUSERA', 'TCUSERA', 'TGUSERA', 'TRACKRE'. Welcome,

Two years ago I bought the Magellan RoadMate 1210.
Yesterday I want to upload new maps to the device and I accidentally deleted a file wince_mgnShell.ini witch is in APP folder on device.

When I turn it on it freezes in startup. The dial stops turning and unit will not boot up and my pc don't recognize him.

The computer will not recognize the device as a USB device. So I can not upload my backup files to device.

Do you know how to do hard reset Magellan RoadMate 1210.
I have all saved data on computer of devices so that they can then re-uploaded. I want to again recognize the Magellan computer to upload data back.

can some one help me with my problem???

Or, if you send me the original ROM and it will reload itself.

P.s: sorry for my bad english, I hope you understend my problem

Greetinghs,
