As you can see, this project is a huge work, so don't expect a release before several weeks, then I plan to make some private betas, limited to donators of my ROMs.
Suggestions are welcome!

schaps, if you PM me your address i can arrange for some euros to be sent over!

this really really looks pretty fantastic!

um, suggestions wise:

1) when you make a release of a rom, is it possible to also release a RAR file containing all the extra add-ons that are part of the FULL releases so that LITE users can add ONLY the programs they wish from a centralised database of files?

2) release your releases quicker!lol. jk. your roms are very very much appreciated schaps, yours are the only roms i use now!

I think I wasn't clear enough, please post here for suggestions concerning the future ROM interface, for general ROM suggestions please post in 4.22 ROMs threads.

I won't make a pack with all the applications in Full ROMs because I don't have time for that, and they are all available on this forum.

Is the Internet Sharing CAB available somewhere here not working?

Yes.. there are 3 of them and none of those work ( including mine )..
It installs OK, but when you want to connect it you get a message: "cannot connect for unknown reason" :(

this looks great, could you integrate multiple contact pages and possibly add chainfires wifirouter as an app?

edit: What I'm trying to ask for :) is this: On the apps/contacts screen allow for page down feature that brings up further lists of contacts/apps, and a Calendar page/most recent messages page which diplays a snapshot of upcoming events that day on top and on the bottom has the first few lines from the last few messages you've sent/recieved.

Of course, all we, aspecially me fed up of the standart Home today plugin. It's a new generation we can call it in Hermes platform.
Eventhrough, all the touchscreen phones should have
1) Any application to end proccesses in a case of any problem (something like Oxious CloseApplication or Hibernate, if better one why not...) may be in Buttons
2) Any additional Launcher ( to collect programs as the owner wishes)
3) Quick accessable DIRECT selectable connection settings. (not to select bluetooth, then to select make the device visible to other devices) press bluetooth and open all bluetooth functions at the same time as much functions as it's possible. Exp: EffComm Today Radio DeviceToggle not bad, if additional will be available then o.k.
4) Application manager like waku WkTASK 1.1.0.1 or if better then o.k.
The main future collecting opened application on top or bottom of screen (like windows for pc)
5) Some application that will allow the keyboard to write in language that the owner can select (many languages support keyboard)
6) DialPad with big buttons on screen like Kaiser 3G Dialer - Schen

Thanks for all,Great work!

Hello schaps,

First, thank you for your work.

My suggestion are :

- a black edition, Kaiser style
- a french ROM

um, i think my post has been taken wrongly, i put 'lol.jk' in there, the 'jk' bit means joke, i was only jesting! i did not mean any disrespect to schaps, and if any was implied i can only apologise.

again i apologise for taking the context of the thread wrongly. suggestions for the interface would be:

1) two options where you can have a full blown screen like the screenshot given and another much more simpler with only the 'important' things on like a nice large analog/digital clock, missed calls, email, sms monitor (to show if there are any new ones) and if possible a little button which shows the wifi status

2) if there could be some sort of 'tab' system, similar to the HTC Home plugin whereby you can click a tab and be in a specific type of shortcut menu, such as a 'favourites' for applications commonly used, and a settings menu which allows you to access the settings menu at the tap of a button (i guess what im trying to get at is a more streamlined version of the LG custom interface floating around on the development section)

i have tried to make a small donation (what little i can spare as a student) and i look forward to all future releases ( i dont know if the donation will go through or not, it will be my first ever paypal transaction!)
many thanks for the roms by the way schaps.

Slither's HTC Cube Clone is in beta 8 phase at the moment and I think/hope it'll be in RTM phase by the time your next ROM is released, given the indications above. Now, that is something that I think would work well with your new Touch interface...

Schaps,

I like what I see at the moment. This is a major and very welcome departure away from HTC Home, which I absolutely detest!

I assume you have given up running an integrated 4/6 sided cube on this rom or are you leaving it up to the choice of the individual?

One thing I would like to see is a choice of roms in terms of storage availability. I have begun to notice that available rom space for the TyTN is becoming scarce, given the increasing trend for developers to force their software to run in main memory.

I will give some more thought to a feature set and add to this post.

In the meantime I definitely want to be added to your list of preferred testers. A further donation from me is on its way this evening.

Keep up the good work.

Hello Schap,

Thanks for the hard work and great results. I'm using 4.22 at the moment.

I did not check the new project in full details, yet here are a couple of comments:

-As for me, the most important is Calendar, and Emails. So I suggest to give the most possible ease of access and use for these 2.

-The pictures your posted with the templates so contain to much information in my opinion. I feel the information on memory and other stuffs are of no great use, yet take a lot of space, while giving an crowded aspect.

-As someone already mentioned, it would be great to have a choice in colors, such as blue or black editions.

Longing to see the results...

1) a digital clock instead of an analogic (may be booth : just a matter of taste)

2) the indicator are a good idea but it make the screen to much ornate. 2 possibilities : a possible removal through a custom panel or regrouped information in an other tabs.

Of course these are sugestions. I'm not able to do a piece of your work. You're like "The Fall Guy" (N.B : more sense in french "l'homme qui tombe à pic")

Hi Schaps,

great work.. I am new with your roms. But I allready like it.

Can you make an menu structure like spb mobile shell?
Then you can use almost everything with one finger.:p

I'm aware that Home Screen on screenshot is a bit heavy, but it's just a sample of all infos you can display, you should be able to customize it.
I even thought about making XML skins, like that you could for example change layout, background, clock style...

Another Vote for Internet Sharing in the Lite.
I have dug high and low and there is no working cab to be found.
Even dumping the Rom and rebuilding it, we can't get internet sharing to work. Other than that, your Roms are great.

Hi Schaps,

I would like to be able easily see open programs and pause before selecting a program to switch to, or to close. Taskswitch.exe in the current 4.22 rom doesn't allow you time to look at the different programs open.

I would like to support you in this fantastic project. I have just donated again for this purpose. Please put me down as one of your beta testers.

All the best, Walker :)

Hey I want!
I use my phone as my default Multimedia device (as an indication of that my Radio Version is an ancient 1.16 and I use the bulky extra capacity battery which still last only 24 hours before it needs charging) ,so any screen listings my playlists and the various players I use would be great.
Just a template and we can customize to suit.

I have not installed this ROM yet I am still using 4.01 but I think I will give it a try. I will also donate again because I want to be one of the testers.

Very interesting, and looks very good. Here are my thoughts:

- Make sure you test the show-on-wakeup feature with password protection enabled -- my work Exchange Server enforces passwords on the device, and Mobile Shell can have minor problems with this (title bar overlap mostly)

- Matching the "HTC look" as much as possible would be very welcome.

ultimately i think what people are looking for is a completely customisable today screen, much much more customisable than the standard WM6 menu which only allows you to select which plugins. perhaps one where the plugins show up on a sample screenshot and we can drag the items to where we want?
and the idea of a programs menu like spb would be soooooo awsome!

i think the touchflo from htc is very limited : as i said on other forums there is only 3 pages, 3 multimedia apps, 9 contacts only, 6 apps only and we can only modidy some.
i don't know if it is possible but for your touch interface a great thing would be perhaps a "scrolling zone" on the contacts page and on the apps page. and more faces also. and in the editor the possibility to customise all and add more pages if wanted.
and perhaps you should look here : http://www.freestylwm.com/?page_id=2

About your "old" ROM I say: Great great work.

About Your new idea.
I Think:
- For work I would like a today screen like SPB diary, but with large buttons to use finger.
- I suggest You a popup large icon for new sms, new mail, or other like a post-it, not icon for "no missed call" or similar
- setting for delay button, for example, writing a mail with finger it's very easy push "send" button (like "send SMS" in PocketCM)
- sms and mail import/export on PC in "chat format" like in Gmail in a html page
- ROM instal customizable, not lite or full, but I would like chose what I want to install.

I hope that I wrote not stupid suggest... and sorry to all for my english.

No two people are going to have the same requirement, so Schaps' idea of making the home screen "XML" configurable sounds like a winner.

If anything were possible....

I'd like to have the touch zones modified to have an upper left-right zone & a simillar lower left-right zone so that the home screen can maintain it's separate upper & lower functionality. This would allow the upper area to be scrolled horizontally separately from the lower area. I like the idea of a scrolling window program launcher screen scrolling left & right (probably in the lower half so that the main status & clock screen can still be viewed whilst the launcher screen is horizontally scrolled. The top screen would be essentially used for all things status & reporting.

Schaps you are amazingly dedicated & have done so much towards giving us a phone that truly makes use of it's capabilites, something that seems lost on many of the manufacturer's support people who have given up to focus on their next product range. I believe what you are embarking on will bring new life to the Hermes which even the newer products will only aspire to.

Well done! :) :) :)

I must agree with this requirement. The most you can do with your finger the best it is. BTW what is this SIP with '20' as the identifier in the bottom bar (displayed by Schap's in the very first pictures of his new 4.22 ROM) ?

Possibility to create shortcuts to send SMS/Email to fixed contacts

For example :

In the quest to provide great features that everyone would like to see in this touch interface, it can’t be all things to all people; My fear is that the ROM gets too bloated in an attempt to please everyone.

I also don’t have a problem with HTC home. But I like your preview because it’s new and fresh. And everyone likes “new” especially those addicted to flashing.

At this point, like many others, I find touchflo a little gimmicky (so I’m still with 4.01). I can’t wait to see your personal interpretation, as I look forward to the application being more purposeful.

As many ROMS are becoming so similar the keys are:
Options and Customization.
Speed and Ease of Use.

I love your custom config. menus for that reason… More of those. Keep up the good work. Much appreciated!

Without wanting to sound like I'm nagging... :)

Goodlink 5!!!

I want to use your ROMs but I can't because I need GL5 for work. :(

Happy to test GL5 with any beta and provide any debugging info you might need.

Cheers,
baggy

How about you read the first page before posting? These forums would be a lot better if people READ first and followed the topic of the thread instead of posting blindly and inconsiderately.

Yes, there is a French ROM in preparation (about 75% done), but as I said multilanguages ROMs are not my priority.
I'm pretty busy those last times so those ROMs are in standby, I also hope I could lay a hand on a localized Touch Dual or Cruise ROM, by this way it will save me a lot of time in localization and we could have original localized ROMs.

So if you all really want to help me for ROMs translation, please send me a dump of those localized ROMs and I could release ROMs in your language soon.

Just a quick few suggestions.

1. Allow the digital clock to be reduced to at least half its current size. It wastes a lot of real estate, and my eyes aren't that bad yet.

2. Ditch the HTC animation. Just a nice crisp graphic (modifiable) would be better.

3. Allow browser.dll to be edited so that we can fix the CE UserAgent problem. (Currently cannot copy or over-write).

I'd love to see the ability to bring up the SIP keyboard when using phone - I currently have this mapped to button 5 push and hold using CM keyboard. So easy to select contacts that way - all using just finger. Contact list gets limited by selected letters and its really quick (though some keys obviously cause harmless phone dial beep tones). If I pull up the SIP keyboard in today screen (using 4.20 still) I can tap in a couple of letters and the phone app loads with the names ready to tap dial. Looking forward to your next release. My first flash was your 4.20. Gary.

Hi Schaps,

Thanks for the terrific work you do.

I agree that we dont need a big clock taking up valuable space. HTC home is way too big and takes up most of the viewable space on the home screen.
I'm a big user of windows live messenger and so my request is can you make the WLM take up less space on the home screen whilst still being able to report number of contacts online etc? I also sych with an exchange server so i need basic visibility of next appointment and unread emails, texts etc.

I do love the look of your proposed home screen and the sound of the ideas you have. I consider myself reasonable in my knowledge windows mobile but even for me getting a cube to work has proven impossible so a rom release with something similar that already works would be most welcome.

Thanks again.

Has anyone checked out the interface on the TMobile shadow? Looks pretty sweet. Im not sure how feasible it is but you might be able to find some ideas out of it.

Wotcha Schap, Donated today (boatjam), please betarise me! Great work.

Loose the start and status bars! I know just a headache from MS original design but lose the glassy bars at the top and bottom of the screen just look silly and out of place in a working touchflo environment, top and bottom of screen should just continue with (grey or puprle for example) application background seemlessly, with icons and menus floating.

What about an alternative weather solution to the HTC accuweather solution which is limited and unreliable. something like spb weather is more flexilbe.

hell yeah schaps! that looks amazing! i also love your roms!

my suggestions:
- like some users prefer, too: a digital clock, this analog clock is too big.
- a today with tabs maybe: for the calendar or programs you want to launch.
the t-mobile-screen of F22-Raptor looks good
- another idea i had was that you use multiple todays instead of tabs. so one today for the homescreen with clock and indicators, another today for calendar, programs and so on... i searched for a program which makes multiple todays (like or better than touchflo) but it seems that they are all slow and unstable.

you're the best schaps! keep it up! :)

sry for poor english

It will be great if we enable voice speed dial for each contact as supported in other mobile phones; record a voice for each contact to be used for speed dial.

I must admit I didn't bother to read all suggestions posted here, but I like to add my ten cents :)

First of all, a little note to my using the Hermes. I am an IT consultant who's on the road almost every day of the week. My Hermes keeps me up to date on email and appointments as well as directs me where to drive and provide me with internet on a number of locations where no wired functionality is available.

I use the landscapeview alot (I even have the active carholder in landscape model from Brodit) (http://www.brodit.com/images/968691.jpg) and I noticed that alot of apps aren't properly dimensioned for landscape use, for instance the screen to unlock your phone (the one where you punch in your simple digit pincode) or the todayscreen layout. I'd love to see some changes there.

Also, my Hermes is my personal reminder (I tend to forget alot so I put everything in Outlook to help me remind stuff) so I use upcoming appointments alot. I put them on the todayscreen. For the moment, I always install "Calender+" (http://www.mohairsofa.com/Default.aspx/document/10)every time, which is a pretty old app but seems to be the only app with the provided functionality. It helps me keeping track of my appointments. It would be swell if this functionality is implemented right away

When I'm on route, I use the internet sharing option to keep working on my laptop. It could use some improvements but the current functionality does the job too.

Also, when on route, I use TomTom Navigator in combination with a bluetooth GPS mouse all the time. This is a pretty device-intensive app. I would be gratefull for any additional speed a ROM could provide there.

Email is one of the primary means of communication, next to being annoyed with phonecalls.. any improvement that can be made on this end, I'd be thankfull for. The emailinterface is still not suitable as a permanent replacement for a desktop. It doesn't even come near. Where Outlook 2007 is totally userfriendly, Outlook Mobile can hardly compete with Outlook Express 4.0. No Threading, proper layout, signatures, headers, tracking, etc etc.. I hear WM6.1 should bring sime improvements but that's still some months away.

So erm.. whatever you can do, I'd appreciate it :)

Hi Schaps,

donated a little time ago, afterwards asked if you need help in translation to german, now found a german input, anyway.

I like your roms, they are stable and fast. I would like to see elements like:

1) cube with easy config
2) more touchable input (faster method like on the iphone e.g.)
3) lite version with fast installations of cabs fo the elements of the full versions
4) mediaplayers included for most codecs

To all the others, don´t jump on me if i wrote something more people already said or if it is not possible because of rights. I am able and willed to learn.

Thanks, Michael

Hey Schap!

First of all, let me say thanks for your work in the custom ROM world! Once we buy a phone we are stuck with it for a some time even though new phones come out that have exciting new features, the OS upgrades we get from HTC and the phone vendors are absent with new features and options. But, the dev work you do allows us to use our phones in new ways, more efficient ways, with the latest exciting user friendly features coming out in other phones.

For example, I installed 4.22 this week and I love using the TouchFlo features like scrolling through Contacts with my finger on the screen. I love showing my iPhone friends that I can do some of the same things! Thanks a lot for keeping things interesting with my Hermes!

Ok, now for my recommendations:

1) My primary use of my 8525 is business, Calendar, Contacts, Email, Calling. I need Appointments on the Home Screen. I am sure you would make it an available option to the Home Screen via the Today screen, but just making sure. As I look at the pictures again, you may already have this with the appts in the line that have green arrows on each side, but not sure.

2) I would remove the system stats on the home page, maybe put that information in a tab environment. I would also use a digital clock, I like having the date and time on single line, saves space for my other Today items.

3) I do like your idea about hardware conifguration items as shortcuts or gestures. Hardware configration is very important for me, I had to buy Profile type software that automatically puts my phone in Silent mode when I am in a meeting, or that turns up the screen brightness and volumes when I am in the car.

4) In the 4.22 thread, someone recommended adding the ability to remove software from your Full ROM, for example. I think someone else provided this, VP3G maybe, where software installed can be removed via Remove Programs that are part of the Full ROM. I use most of the stuff you provide, but not all and could save some space by removing the ones I don't use.

5) One thing I do like about the OEM released ROMs, is that the WIFI icon in the Start Bar is animated when data is using the WIFI connection. So, when WIFI is enabled and connected, can you animate the WIFI icon to show data going over the WIFI versus the phone vendor's data connection? The ROMS for the 8525 do this from HTC/AT&T if you want to see an example.

6) I like your idea about putting Alarm information on the Today screen, I would use that. I have seen software out there that would do it, but they either cost money that I didn't want to spend, or the free stuff wasn't mature enough to use on my phone.

7) I really like the idea of viewing last emails on the Today screen, but I would like Email and Appts on seperate lines. I think you mean, viewing the last emails content or who they were from and/or subject lines, and not just the count of new emails.

8) I also do a lot of dialing via the Today screen via pictures, like the HTC Home favorite people, but the HTC Home is WAY too big. I use Spb Phone Suite. One nice thing about its picture dialer is that it has a confirmation to dial feature, just in case you didn't mean to dial someone. If you were going to duplicate this type of functionality.

Thanks again!

i dont know if this is a software problem or a problem due to a rom modification. my suggestion would be to try and make the active sync program close to oem because i have noticed that when i was running the att/vp3g rom, the active sync had no problems what so ever. my current problem with schaps 4.22 is the unstable active sync connection. it goes to sleep in the middle of a sync, it does not connect, and it will lose it's connection if i open up a new program during a connection.:(

Simply can't wait for your new total touch design, makes total sense considering it's a ''Touch phone''. Not having to yank out the stylus every time we use our phone is a huge plus. Is there any way you could incorporate an iphone or voyager type layout? Wm tends to be very cluttered and visually unintuitive (like when I hand my phone to my mom and she says ???); simple icons are much more easy on the eyes and faster to navigate. Also, a full screen phone pad would be great! Surgically dialing a phone number every time just doesn't feel right, especially considering it's a phone after all. Can't wait to see what you've done with gesture and animation transition; I think that's a huge ingredient for making Wm not just easier for the mass populous to use, but to make it Fun to use! Btw, heard your'e using a new phone now, what'd you get? Thanx again schappy, keep up the awesome work and I'll vote for you for President if u ever run. whats ur link to donate? no good deed goes unPaypalled!

Schaps i have an idea...

How about this, yo u have a nice clean interface on the homescreen

say you select mesages, the message icon will appear as an icon in the middle of the screen

swipe left for sms, right for mms, down for email up for settings

say you swipe left for sms, you then get an icon in middle representing sms and then you can swipe left for inbox, right for sent items up for new sms down for outbox

what do you think?
