What is your experience with battery life? How often have you recharge it?

Twice a day. But thats because Im using high speed data (3G, HSDPA, WiFi), browsing the web a lot and testing/developing software.

I am disappointed to find that using gps in car with Tilt plugged into car charger, the battery drains faster than it recharges - requiring a charge with phone off to get full battery. Anyone else?

mine is also not really great, if i compare it to my old vpa compact II, which has a bigger touchscreen and only 200mah bigger battery, its really shameful, cause my old vpa holds easily 3-4 days, but it has only 200mhz:( i will look for a stronger battery for my s730...

1800 mAh cant have the same size as the 1050's from HTC. It may be bigger but this meand you need special cover. S710 and S730 uses same batteries but the cover is different (I tried that).

1) And the cover is included - or it is the bottom of battery?
2) Can you make the photo?
3) How it increase the battery life?
Yeh moneytoo - you mean the differences between the original battery putted to s710 and s730. well it be interesting if somebody will share the experience with this (maybe thicker) stronger battery and put here the back loop.
Thanks, R.

The battery life is just useless on this phone and I'm ready to give up on it.
I charge it fully overnight and with normal use (less than 1 hour of calls, some texting, web browsing on 3G) it is completely dead by 6-7pm! This is without using WiFi, Bluetooth, media player, skype or anything else you might think would be more battery intensive.
I'm often out at work all day and don't get home until late in the evening. I need a phone that will last at least 12-15 hours with normal use, and the S730 does not seem up to the task.
Is this just par for the course with WM6 phones or what?

Crazy, while I doubt I use mine as much as you, I have about one hour online (edge), several times in and out of google maps trying to get somewhere. Some games, and texting. That only dropped it down to about 80%.
Are you cleaning up the ram / closing programs your not in? I played Doom on mine for about 20-30 minutes the other day and didnt even drop 5% I suggest looking at how long you have the phone time out the screen and out of apps as the longer it does each of those the more power it uses.
I would also suggets getting the Car charger, that way your not stranded. Your described usage of one hour of calls and the light usage after that should put it at 50% or slightly below...

It really depends on how you use the phone.
- 3 days - the phone was on for almost whole three days. When I was ill the phone lied on one place and I recieved and send only few e-mails and viewed few web pages.
- 7 hours - different day - during the travelling to school/work I read my RSS feeds and browse some sites in the mornig (cca 30 minutes). Then Im in 3G/HSDPA coverage area. Checking few e-mails. When I connect to the WiFi network in school and browsing the internet one whole lesson (1.5 hour), the phone runs out of battery short after.

It was really for a C730 not S730. They screwed up. I sent it back and yes it was from Handtec. Gonna have to see how good their refund process is. It was totally their mistake. I would have really liked the correct 1800mAh battery. The oem batt lasts me a day usually, plus syncing with my office computer keeps it pretty well charged.

I don't know if it works on s730, but it works with s710. After you used the edge or 3G goto the comm manager and press "6". It will disconnect you from the "internet" network. When I use it my battery lasts much more longer. Try it.

Hey,
I'm kinda new to the whole smartphone business, bacause I never had one. Still, I intent to get a new phone in a while, and one of my top choices as for now is S730.
I imagine smartphones in general 'eat' bettery faster, but what should I expect? Opinions are mixed as I see - but can S730 last few days, while being lightly used (checking time, writing SMS's, maybe playing some games for a little while). I mean - I imagine that most energy consuming processes involve various sorts of connectivity options - like 3G, WiFi, and such? So basically, working with the phone istself, without connection, should extend battery life? Or maybe it doesn't matter so much, and I will be forced to recharge it daily one way or another once I obtain one of those?
I hardly hope for a week of usage, but 3 days? Seems like not to much to ask for. Also this battery changing idea seems interesting - I think battery sizes are kinda fixed, so I should be able to get better one, once it is available.
Thanks in advance for any reply, this seems the only place in the internet where I can find more then official battery specs, which seems useless.

I came from a "regular" phone and this is my first Smart Phone, I am very pleased with battery life considering everything its doing. RSS auto update, weather auto update in the background. My screen is set to turn off quickly since the backlight eats battery and so forth. That coupled with always keeping programs closed when I am done and my phone can last 3 - 4 days sending say 30 - 40 texts, playing games (Doom, Flash games, and solitar) for about 30 minutes span over those days and some light web usage. I dont make a ton of phone calls and when I do they are pretty short.
Right now I am at 67% 2 days after my charge. I havent done more than 10 texts and no more than 10 minutes of games. But I have spend about 15 in RSS and a few min online.
All this should give you a decent bit of refrence. If you are hammering your phone on 3g and such you will drain the battery. But if you keep your memory clean and watch your settings you will be fine.

Thanks a lot:)
My usual profile for using a phone could be similar to yours, depending on situation of course. Great reference for me indeed. Thanks for taking your time with the reply, all in all I hope to became a happy S730 user in a while.
Thanks again:D
(Hm - I did write "thanks" 3 times... Guess I'm kinda happy to get some useful info on this, after searching i-net for quite some time:p)

I had a problem with battery drain on my s730. From the box it lasted for about 1 day with about 1 hour talk on the 3G network, some wifi, some games and texting. After that i flashed it to a different radio. It was the radio-wings-1.58.09.17 radio which really sucked! After that my phone was drained just after 7-8 hours with the same usage as before. 3 days ago i flashed the KAIS_Raido_Only_1.64.06.04 and i have now 28 % battery life left after more than 48 hours of the same usage! When i don´t use it it drains about 1 % every 3 hours!

The fact is, backlight goes completely off eventually only when keyboard is locked. Weird, but true.

I dont have my keyboard / pad ever locked and my screen is set to time out in 15 seconds. So everything goes dark after 15 seconds, 5 - 8 for the bright light, dimmed after that till 15 then off.

I have used the kaiser radio for a week now. I have not tested anything spesificly but I do some how feel
that I have more available free program memory.
I cant comment on the battery life, because I have stopped using the 3G nett (Because of poor reseption in my area)
so after switching this off mye battery life has doubbled.
Need to test out the memory thing closer, could be my imagination..

Hello, you're going to laugh but I'm still not sure of the results
I THINK my battery life is indeed better, and I also think my phone is a bit more responsive.
I mean it has less input lag while typing SIM code for example. Another good thing is that since the flashing, I don't have the split during music playback anymore. (see here :->Music Playback Problem<- (http://www.modaco.com/content/HTC-Wings-Wings-MoDaCo-com/264063/Music-playback-on-HTC-S730/))
I hope it's all not just placebo effect :D
All in all, you just can't go wrong by flashing this radio.
I continue my investigations, and I will let you know if something I said wasn't right ;)
EDIT:: The music playback skipping ISN'T gone. I heard it twice today :(

I don't have more available RAM since the flashing, that's for sure since RAM is something easy to monitor. I'm always at 45% free after a fresh boot.
Also, I wasn't using 3G before, so my batterylife was already correct. But I think it's a bit better since the flashing though.

I am not talking about the amount of available memory after a reboot.
Before I was down to about 4-5 MB free after using it for a day..
In the last week I have never been under 11 mb. If this is because of the Radio. or something else I have done to the unit i dont know..

It won't be needed :p !
I'm 100% sure that the battery life is better now. It wasn't easy to measure because the usage of the phone is variable from day to day.
This morning, the battery was full.
Phone was on (no 3G though), I made a few calls, browsed a little via wifi, listened to music for an hour, and watched a part of a movie.
Guess what... , battery is still at 80% :) (late in the evening)

Still have 1 question, what does the Kaiser Radio mean?? I have flashed my S730 with the WM6.1 cooked rom. Is the Kaiser rom just another WM6.1 or WM6 version? Or is it a rom for another part of the S730??

The Radio is what the phone uses to communicate with your provider. For calls, texts etc, and depending on how that is all set up it can eat more battery power than it needs to or as it might be the case less.
