Orange SPV M700 Reset Call Duration

I have an Orange SPV M700 (HTC Trinity). I want to reset the call duration timers and I tried to use mtty.exe but cannot get the USB prompt (only CMD). I read in this forum that I need 1.01MFG (don't understand the difference between IPL and SPL etc etc) and I tried to revert to this level but without success. My knowledge is limited (but I am learning fast) so please can someone help with step by step instructions to get the Trinity in a position to run mtty.exe AND reset the timers???
