In the last step of the login process, this error appears:
"Windows Live cannot connect temporaly. Perhaps you don't have the correct signal for data connections. Try to connect later or contact your service provider for further assistence".
(I have no problems connecting to the Internet)
Any idea?

With my configuration:
- Windows Live Messenger from the Trinity refuses to connect (probably due to port blocking)
- Windows Live Messenger from a PC connected through the Trinty (using the same connection -with the same blocked ports-) works perfectly.
Does the WLM "Mobile" need more ports than the WLM "Desktop"???
Regards... Alfredo.

It is an intelligent question...we can't sign in WLM because we have, for example, a router and we must open the port inside for the problem with router firewall.

I was thiking about server and proxy configuration: maybe there is a registry key to connect directly to MSN server without any proxy to bypass server limitation...
Other point: Anyone is using OZPocketPC messenger?
Thankyou in advance for your replies!

I'm spanish and have this problem too.
I think that we all are people using cheap price plans that block some ports different than 80, 443, 110 and so on.
As WLM on the device tries to connect to 1863, it does not work.
Microsoft should update WLM Mobile to work with standards ports as they did with WLM Desktop.

Alfredo

But we all have this problem also using wifi.. so I don't think it's a matter of ports blocked by providers...

wlm mobile only uses 2 ports:
the 443 to login (normal)
and the 50001 for the communications (it seems to be ssl)
(CONNECT tcp.mws.mobile.live.com:50001)
the server "tcp.mws.mobile.live.com" and the port "50001" are stored in the registry "HKLM/Services/Windows Live/Platform/Transport/"
i already saw a connection in http.mws.mobile.live.com (maybe when tcp is unvailable) but i didn't remember the port used

I have tested WLM from the Trinity through WIFI and it works perfectly.
So I can confirm that my problem is a port blocking problem:
WLM in the Trinity needs some non-standard port that are blocked by my operator (Vodafone ES RealMail)
WLM in the desktop does not need these ports and can connect, even through the Trinity's connection (Vodafone ES RealMail)

Alfredo

I have heard about ports 1863 and 5001. However, I haven't personally tested it.
(What I call standard ports are as all of you may know 80 & 443)

So it doesn't depend on the trinity, it's just a problem of Microsoft and its servers? And if it's true, why then someone is able to connect and others not?

Here is a Dutch forum. Vodafone NL users are reporting the same problem.
http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1265243/1
Did your problems start around 6 december and did it get realy bad around 13th?
Dutch people are reporting that wifi only works when the sim is removed. Also reports of working connection after first connecting via wifi and then placing sim back.

Partially solved :)
To make it work you have to disable the telephone, and to log in by wifi without the telephone module, deselected in the comm manager, after you log in you can reactivate the telephone.

I have a solution...
Try to disable the telephone module.
restart device.
now after rebooting the device is all ofline.
Activated wi fi.
log in in messenger.
If at this point without problems, Launching the network wizard ed re-configure with your mobile operetor.
bella..

Using cabs found here

There is a version N95 (WM6) here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366197
It was working one minute and then I was getting the message about not being able to connect to the service for reason bla bla bla.
After trying various things I found a couple of "how did that happen!" configurations.
One: The time was incorrectly set – not sure if this had any impact or not but corrected it anyway
Two: In Menu -> Actions -> Security the "Net access" was set to "Never Allow" – this was changed to "Ask" which appeared to cure the issue.
There seems to be various reasons for IM not working so this won’t be a general fix for everyone but I hope it helps at least one
