Well i think its time we start a project for the polaris to get u guys a hardspl, cooked rom, and unlocker done Raskell has asked i cook a rom for the device so i will be the cook and project leader. He is also trying to get us the devices we need for the project.

Raskell will also be a assist to me as he has a device right now. ltxda will most likely chime in or be a project head/leader like he was in Athena Project once he sees this and finds some time :p

Now what i am asking is for people to band together to get the donations rolling in for 2 devices. One for me to use for cooking the roms and 1 for olipro to use to make a hardspl and unlocker.

For me it is very difficult to cook a rom without a device. I have to rely too much on another person to be constantly on to try new things and to make a ultra stable rom.

You can see on the athena project how stable I have gotten my roms to be with a device. I would not be able to do this unfortantly without a device to test different things on. Also I cant keep asking someone to have their device resetup many times and running buggy many times.

It is up to the community now to get the donations needed for 2 devices for me and olipro so we can hack away. I already have made a cooked rom but have no device to check. Come on people we mananged to get a few athenas(olipro, me, cmonex, and chris) at the high price of that device so i don't see why we shouldn't be able to get 2 polaris for me and olipro.

hardspl is almost done except we need to personally test it so u guys wont mess up ur devices so itll be release along once devices are in.

unlocker will be started on once devices are in also. this will be the sim unlocker. the way the new qualcomm 7200 devices are made requires the device to be in hand of olipro and cmonex so they can test new techniques for unlocking the devices since u cant flash the radio rom like previously. more details will come in once olipro and cmonex reply to this thread. the quicker we have the devices, the quicker the community recieves a cooked rom, unlocker, and hardspl.

my rom i think from requests here will come in 2 versions. cube and cubeless version since i see not everyone likes the cube. of course i will use the cube version as i do like it. i will try to also cook in the 4 side aka customaplauncher and maybe ask midget or someone to create a customizer exe for it.

I'd be good for a donation of about to 15-20$ but not quite yet. It'll have to wait until I have a device and I decide to keep it.

Can you give me the thread who explains exactly the need of a rom ?
I think you create a new rom to fill it with many applications.

And if my future polaris is in french, i need a special rom ?

Thank you for your response to a newbie

Ziggy

Most times a cooked ROM is faster than official one and there are many versions (full or lite) depending on each user's needs.

If you flash an english cooked ROM to your french Polaris... you will loose french menu because it will be replaced with english language.

The Polaris is my next device and having had the pleasure of this forum and its many ROMs for my hermes, I know the value of a custom rom and SPL.

I'd be happier to donate if I actualy had one of these. I'm considering this puppy as a replacement for my 2 1/2 year old XDA Exec, but untill I've seen it and tried it, how do I know if I need another rom?
I played the rom game with the exec, and I'm sad to say that having had some fun, I'm back to the o2 rom.

I will donate £10 for a decent rom.

i think you need to confirm what exactly your going to be doing, perhaps its just me but this place has lost its way where people are now being forced to make so called "donations" to get things unlocked.

Whilst im up for giving credit to those who help in major ways. ie, what you seem to be doing is going out of your way to buy a device and unlock it, im not up for it if this turns in to one of those "PM me with a donation and ill email it to you" moments that seems to be the trend around here now

likewise what happens if you brick your device? will you be asking for more

what if you cant do it?

if you can say that this device WILL BE CID + SIM unlocked and you will have the option to install ANY official or 3rd party ROM for the correct device you wish and all you need is to buy a device, then so long as there isnt any further obligation to donating money for updates etc you might get more people helping you out.

listen dude first i think it is u(dude sry but u really got me angry) or maybe ur english. if u would of tooken the time to read more about what i done in the athena project and how i got there then this post would of never came up.

now listen carefully:

if u or anyone can get me and olipro a polaris free then there would be no need for donations. the donations are to get me AND olipro each a polaris ,since we live across oceans, so i can use it to cook u guys a rom on MY free time and him to create a hardspl AND unlocker on his free time

we do not ask money for ANY of the products. we never have and never will. we just want devices to use to make these products. if u ever have cooked u would know a device is needed to get good products. Also a sim unlocker is currently inpossible for olipro to do without a device.

me and olipro/cmonex use our free time to do these things and are not paid to do them. we volunteer to do them. all we ask in return is if we dont have the devices to get us them.

i have been contacted by a few polaris owners to get a cooked rom done for it because they enjoy my athena rom and to get olipro to sim/cid unlock the device

best example of what i am talking about is after i got my athena i changed all paypal links to go to the athena project. after cmonex got her device we had a few dollars left from recieving donations for my work in ap dual 3.0 and my share of the money i gave to cmonex and olipro bc they needed the money and i didnt.

anytime i see posts like yours i get insulted. all i ask for is a device to do the cooked rom with. i dont get payed later to do the rom. i spend my own free time and work hard on these roms and never ask for anything. anything i get i give to someone else who needs it more than me.

hopefull there will be no more confusion. i am sorry if i made it seem like i am doing this for money bc i asked for a device. I do this for the friendships you make being a part of a project like this and just for fun/pass time before bed.

now its time to update first post. thanx again to all those who donated!

yes but soon as more carriers release it then there will be sim locked polaris. for now first we do a cid unlock/hardspl so u can flash my cooked rom. then we begin work on a sim unlocker. it should also be moddable to work on touch dual and kaiser(the sim unlocker)

I wont even tell you to search the forum.

Hardspl is actually unlocking your phone to be able to receive customized ( cooked ) roms, with newer builds of programs and different skins etcetc. The benefits of using one is, that it makes your phone faster, and most of the times more stable than the original rom.

I know man it is bad. I now truly know that I have OCD when it comes to my devices. I am using a blackberry pearl right now and I am so depressed I really dont even like to talk on the phone. When I get in my car and see my empty pda holder I get depressed. I went thru a Kaiser and could not handle the weight. When my TC comes the sun will shine bright and the birds will sing.

My name is in my post, rare I know, Kevin R. Irvine and since you said , I am holding you to your word, after $300.00 in donations you would start cooking here is your largest donation and I am trusting you to be true to your word here. Being the primary donator of the cooked rom hard spl project for the touch cruise, aka Polaris, I am asking for a non touch flow rom for to me the htc touch flow interface is slow, awkward to use and no where near the user friendly instant response of the I know on this forum, Dreaded i-Phone. Kevin,

Hello. I'm ltxda...Project Coordinator.

As occurs with some written communication and language barriers, there has been a misinterpretation of PK's message. I'm not here to argue but to explain the situation.

- PK started cooking before donations started coming in. PK actually has an Alpha version of his ROM but he is at a stage where he needs a device to test it. We wouldn't wish this Alpha on anyone else as it's most likely the most buggy ROM in existence..I'm sure PK will disagree with me but that's him...until we work out the kinks...but that can't be done properly without a device. That said...we're almost there!
- Also, please understand that English is not PK's first language. That said, what he meant to say is the following: (Please post your interest in donating for the project. Your interest can be displayed by pledging that you will donate. If we get enough pledges (this is what he meant by HALF/300), then a PayPal link will be posted to start accepting monetary donations.). This should alleviate any misunderstandings.
- Now for a solution. Due to the misunderstanding, no one will groan if you take the donation back as you donated under a misunderstanding. If you do take your donation back, I'm sure no one will hold this against you and there are plenty of other contributors that will fill the void.
- ...and now...the Thank You. The core team, along with the community, wold like to thank you for the generous donation. Of course, we don't expect to keep the donation if it was given under a misunderstanding. We were approached by members of this community to bring our experience from the Athena Project, a very very successful project, to this device and are happy to be here. We will work with everyone to ensure the successes of the previous project are magnified here.
- One more thing...we're going to try and help PK focus on the technical stuff to keep him out of trouble. This boy's English is horrible...especially when he's drunk!!! Problem is we can't tell when he's sober or when he's drunk anymore. LOL ;-p
- One more one more thing....I've been out of the loop because of work, family, and finally the flu. I'm here to help. I have an Athena and a Kaiser, and don't have the device we're cooking for here. I'm just here to help the core team reach the goals like we did on our previous project. So hello to all and let's get this damn project started. :D

That said...I'm going to put together an update to keep everyone informed.

Take care!!!

PS, bare with me as well...English is my second language also. :D

Simple misunderstanding and overzealous member. Hey, when I first got my Athena I was doing anything to get things started. I know exactly how Kevin feels here. LOL

They need 2 Touch Cruise and not one to begin the project.

Thank you for clarifying. The core team needs all the help we can get from the community. :)

Official Polaris Project Update:

- First, a thank you to those of you that came to us and asked that we join this project and use our experience with the Athena Project to compile a new community ROM for the Polaris.

- Second, donations are coming in nicely. We've gotten a total of $480 USD and currently have a balance of $460.41 USD after the PayPal deductions.

- Finally, we are currently looking at MobilePlanet.com for the purchase of the devices. This is a reputable establishment and has good customer support in the event of a problem with the order. The selling price here is $687.90USD. This means we only need to collect anywhere from $250-280USD more to cover the cost of one device, shipping, and PayPal fees. Anything that's left over will be applied to the purchase of the second device. Understand that this is only an estimate and I haven't done any hard core calculations, I'm not a CPA ;-) . Also, this is for the first device.

More updates will be posted as significant news arises.

Take care and glad we're part of your community! It's going to be fun to do this all over again with a new device. We're so obsessive that it kills us to stay idle for too long. :D

YEA BABY!!!!

$200.00 USD AND DONE. TIME TO ROCK AND ROLL WITH YOUR NEW POLARIS ROM AND SIM/CID UNLOCKER. Last request Pawel062, please make my version of the ROM NON TOUCH FLOW and as simple and fast as possible for many ROM COOKER'S HERE ON XDA, just my humble opinion so don't flame me anyone here on this thread, include far too many extra programs in their ROM'S that not everyone needs or more importantly wants. Thanks, Kevin

Kevin,

PK and I are putting together a list of requests and will group them into the two ROMs we've setup for the goal. Each ROM will be different and based on suggestions/requests made by the community. We may also put up polls when there are splits in decisions to allow the community to decide. We're strong believers that the community decides what's in these sponsored ROMs and not the developer unless there are significant issues and an executive decision is required due to a bug or incompatibility issue.

@ltxda,
Kevin here and yes there was a huge misunderstanding here so if I were to take back my large donation to the project how would I do this? I am not saying I will do this for need to think this over more in my mind and will probably know for sure by tonight CST USA TIME.

Just wanted to let you know that I just donated some $ to help you with the project. I discovered the Athena Rom two weeks before I decided to sell the Athena and get me the Polaris here in Holland. Mighty fine phone and it will get better with a PK rom on it. As a suggestion I would like to mention Pointui Home. This is a great program and it is also free. Keep up the good work.

What PK did wasn't rude. PK didn't make the decision. The core team for the project made the decision. We needed to move forward and didn't want to wait any longer. Nothing against you so don't take it personal. We just need to keep the project moving forward. The donation was made under a misunderstanding and we refunded it. If you feel you want to contribute, you can now do so under a clear understanding. No harm no foul and definetly no hard feelings.

Remember, PK isn't pulling all the strings here. There is a core team that keeps things moving in the background. Donations continued to come in so we're getting close to being able to purchase the first device. Again, if you feel you can contribute, now would be a good time...and like I said...it's done with a more clear understanding.

Thank you and we're actually glad you're part of the community....projects like this need all the help they can get. :)

Hi Everyone

Upon completing a mass of research and sucsesfully installin a hard SPL & WWE rom on my no longer Orange branded touch dual i have been trying to find out how i can enable the GPS & Wifi that are on board with the Qualcomm 7200 chip.

While researching (someone may want to back me up on this) i have done a thorough comparison on the 2 handsets and they seem to be the exact hardware base. the only differences are as follows....

A few mm either way in dimensions

GPS is enabled on the cruise

wifi is enabled on the cruise

The cruise is quad band (dual is tri)

Cruise has no keyboard but 4 way nav wheel

Cruise has 3mp camera

Not a great deal between the 2!!

Any opinions?

Can we combine the 2 roms? or install cruise rom on dual and update the keyboard driver? or even the other way (bit more complex with wifi and gps drivers):D

 Any more info to where the complications would lie in combining the 2? hardware is the same in all aspects. bar the fact that gps and wifi are disabled in the dual, these were only disabled due to licencing costs and the fact that with them enabled they could market the handset under a different name at a higher cost.

I have a question for the team that affect how useful any cooked ROM might be for me.

What is the team's attitude to the AAC/AAC+ decoder that HTC bundle with the Polaris ROM? (It's in the Artemis and I believe people here have played AAC+ on the Polaris and hence confirmed that it is also in the Polaris ROM.) To me this is one of the best decisions HTC have made and I absolutely have to have it in any cooked ROM. Will you be including it?

check the thread that shows whats been removed and added. if the aac/aac+ decoder is in the htc rom that ships with devices then its in our cooked roms too :)

Stuff like that though i would never remove bc i know the team agrees with me that its needed to provide the option of different media on device.

If it doesnt come with it i know the tcpmp 0.81 thats in the rom has aac codecs in it.

yes but on the onscreen keyboard from htc correct? im making sure bc there are others onscreen keyboards like teksoft's fingertouch(love it!) if yes then im pretty sure u wont loose it. ill know 100% when the rom is tested. if azerty is a option on the htc rom then its in there 100%.

EDIT: well i also posted a long reply but ltxda's reply is a bit better than mine. we are at about 850USD that means about 450+/- 50usd to have enough for both devices. olipro is getting the first device bc without his hardspl we will never be able to use my rom. also while that is out those with a non wwe rom that need to have english on their devices will be able to get english on there. it will also allow you to sim unlock your device if it isnt already.

we are getting the devices i hope at about 650USD if nothing goes wrong. the first will be via ebay UK. we are watching a auction and 3 days is left on it. if it doesnt go above 700 or only a few dollars over 700 we will get it. remember other solutions want a bit over 700(mobileplanet) while other wants 850(onthegosolutions). Olipro's device will be a german locked orbit 2.

mine will most likely also be a orbit 2 so we can get the devices at the price mentioned. we would have posted a update anyway eather this weekend or when we would have purchases olipros device.

I hope I'm just misreading your post here.

Let me help clarify a few things...

The team is basically working on this for FREE. We do appreciate the donations to get a device that the team needs to get the unlocker done as well as cooked ROMs. Without a device it wouldn't happen.

Next, I'm not sure if you've been reading through this thread or not but we've thanked several already. Have we missed some one-to-one thank you's....yes of course...understand that we have real lives and don't watch our screens 24/7.

I'm going to say this...the team developes/cooks ROM because it's fun and we like to do it....none of us are getting paid. The only reason we need devices is to cook the ROM. I myself have an Athena/Kaiser/Hermes/Universal/Wizard....PK also has a few devices and Olipro has more devices than any human should have. WE DO NOT NEED MORE DEVICES. That said...we do need a device to cook the ROM for the project we were asked to develop for.

Now that's out of the way...of course thank you all for contributing...BUT this is your OWN project and we're just helping out here to get cooked ROMs for the device. So thank yourselves for contributing and please please please thank PK and Olipro because...PK is the lead cook and Olipro is the unlocker....They will be spending many many hours on the goals established for the project and are essentially doing it for free. I hope this puts things in perspective. Any other forum members understand this?

You know, with all this flack...it's not making it very fun to be involved in this project. Don't get me wrong but man....we're here to have fun....it's not our fucking fault we need a fucking phone to get the job done YOU want. We asked for the tool to get the job done...not to get paid. A nice bonus is that the guys working the hardest get to keep a device. For the record...I neither get paid nor get a device to help out....it's for the love of the game bro.

If you have a problem with giving $50 or feel stressed...take the shit back. If you don't know how to I'll go refund it right now like I did with the other member we had a misunderstanding with. It's not going to break my heart if we don't have the device yet but it will surely put the project behind and you won't have the ROM you've been wanting/asking for/etc.

I apologize to everyone for coming back with this long winded reply but man, I'm a little frustrated because people just don't seem to get it.

Also, PK has been updating the very first post on this thread when he has a moment. Again, PK is a full time student. He also works. His time is limited but he's still making sacrifices to get the job done. Let's not continue to post messages like this...wouldn't make PK too proud to work on the project. He loves to do this kind of stuff but it's all for fun.

Well said.... I really don´t know what some people think :o This site is truely a fantastic source of information and resources, all provided openly and free just for the love of it. You don´t see the likes of HTC or Microsoft providing such support for our devices and they ARE making money!! I personally wouldn´t have bought any device from HTC if this site didn´t exist. It gives me the possibility to customise and improve the performance way beyond the "off the shelf" product. Guys like Olipro and PK make this possible and I personally am VERY GRATEFUL. Thanks guys :D

Hello everyone,

The core team has made a purchase! We now have one device going to Olipro. Once received, Olipro will work his magic to get the devices unlocked and we'll have a post so everyone can download the unlocker.

The device was £410 plus £9.95 for shipping, totaling $855.75 USD (yea sorry for changing currency on you). Its a German Orbit 2 variant.

The new balance in the PayPal Donations account is now $201.63 USD. Only a few more hundred to get the second device for cooking.

Thanks to all who donated to get the devices and let's keep it coming. We're not too far from the second device. Meanwhile, Olipro will get working on the unlocker and SPL upon receiving his device. The device should arrive at the destination within a few days. Upon receipt we will post an update so everyone knows the status.

Well, as PK mentioned already...the device has made it into the hands of Olipro.

We should see his SPL work released sometime before this weekend so get ready people.

PK is doing everything he can to work on the new ROM but without a device it's difficult for him. He enlisted the help of a couple of users but after testing the ROM, it is still alpha quality and very buggy. When he gets his device he will be able to do more focussed work to get things resolved. To his credit he was trying to get it done remotely but it wasn't working out. You guys have to give him credit for trying here.

On behalf of the Polaris forum, it's members and the core team...I would like to thank those of you that have continued to donate for the cause.

After the recent purchase of a device, the new total in the account is $239.77 USD. That gives everyone an idea of what's needed next.

Have a great day people and let the unlocking begin very shortly. Stand by! ;)

I'm new to this, but my understanding is the project will remove the CIM lock, not the SIM lock.

SIM lock most commonly stops you putting a SIM from another network in your handset. (The project will not remove this, but it can be done).

CIM lock stops you putting firmware other than your network providers firmware onto the device. e.g. if you bought it from vodafone, the CIM lock stops non-vodafone software being put on it. ("Why?" Well, network providers tend to limit some functionality which you might want back, amongst other reasons).

I'm sure an expert will correct me if I'm wrong here.

i think u mean CID aka carrier id. that is so u can load roms other than htc or ur carriers including custom/cooked roms. rest is correct. carriers also fear bricks and people coming back whining why doesnt this or that work, like for tmo say web and walk.

but is it possible to backup your 'old' ROM before you replace it by the ROM you guys are making.
And is it possible to backup your device as it is currently, with all the programs I've currently installed into a ROM, so that, when a hard reset is needed, all your favorite programms and settings are restored?

oli's device was expensive but u have to remember it was bought in the uk so shipping was cheep, that price included shipping;insurance;and handling. also no one who is cheeper is currently shipping.

u can get one cheeper in germany but insurance and shipping is where they will get u. trust me. we looked at every possibilty and this was a cheeper solution but definatly the smartest as it was right in the UK and was a branded device making things more interesting.

So do you guys want our roms?

mine i think is british. my phone came set for london. If you tell me what to do, and it won't hurt anything, I will be more than happy to donate and/or give you my rom (how ever one goes about giving away their rom...uhh...this forum is not for normal people, if it will lead to a better device, I am all for it) I have seen some of the things that you guys have pulled off.

I think the thing they want is a customised rom available in different languages, not the original HTC rom.
But your rom could interest some people maybe...

In this project, do you plane to make proper video drivers for Polaris?

I have seen that there is a video driver project for Kaiser:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355345

and the 2 devices (Polaris and Kaiser) are the same in hardware.

So will you make video drivers for Polaris, if HTC continue to refuse to make them?

It will be a geat improvement !!!

Thx

Hi - slight change of subject but the thread on SD card corruption is worrying (Deja Vu the Artemis): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360125

Is it possible to investigate whether the cab file solution for the Artemis SD problem is worth incorporating into the cooked Rom?

An original WWE ROM would be nice indeed. And with original I mean a HTC released one, instead of a dumped ROM. Apparently the dumped WWE ROM in the Polaris Upgrading subforum is different from a full WWE shipped ROM (missing 35mb of data according to someone).

Nothing is missing. Actually ImgfsTools makes some optimizations
and module relocations so the final rom size is smaller. ... :)

p.s. Please Donate to Polaris Team (Pawel062 and his team). Their custom Rom will be a perfect one (I think)

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the ROM dump you made. However, a shipped HTC one would always be better. My Polaris will be used in a corporate environment, eventhough I do experiment with different ROMs, there will be a time they require an original unmodified HTC rom for 'security reasons'. In that respect, having the original shipped HTC installer would be better.

i believe i should be able to get that to everyone in a few days. have to ask my source for it if its ok to release the rom now that there is the one in upgrading. btw everyone, cmonex and olipro are on site in barcelona :D so thats also why olipro is slow to reply in hardspl thread

For my understanding. I'm assuming the new cooked ROM is an English ROM?
And what about the "translated" ones? May we have the hope to access to a translated cooked ROM? (I'm a french user).

There's a scroll app in there by deafult... check the manual...

The Polaris/TouchFlo does have a scroll feature, but it is very poor and 'choppy' in comparison to SPB's 'Smart Scrolling' feature for Internet Explorer.

The scroll fix CAB helps a lot in this case as well...

You are right, the IE_Slow_Scroll_Fix cab helps, but scrolling with this is still not anywhere near as fluid as with SPB Smart Scrolling.

Sorry for the delays in response people. Work, life, and family call and are the first priorities.

Currently we're working with other cooks on an optimized ROM. Even though donations have stopped, cooking has not. Just takes a while to go through the process without direct access to a device.

The cook is also working on other device projects so he's a busy camper. After the success in cooking one of the best ROMs for the Athena, he's become quite popular and understandably.

Thanks all for your support and have fun playing with the other ROMs. Work has not stopped on this ROM. We hope to gather there remainder of the cash needed to get PK his device for final testing.

Any questions? (if I don't respond right away it's because i'm busy)

EDIT: One more thing...noticed I got like over 80 PM's...please try to post stuff here unless it's private. Since the birth of my new born son, I don't have the time I used to. ;-)

Well looks like ltxda forgot to do this so I will:

We would like to introduce the newest memeber to the polaris project, bepe. During the last few days we have been talking with him and he has decided to join the project. He will be the 2nd cook/chief in the project and will use his other great skills to make this one great device. We are happy to have him on board.

Now to those that have been asking whats going on, well donations have pretty much come to halt. It isnt easy to make a rom without a device so it is taking longer than usual. My rom though will be a aku 1 rom. rom like previously said will be in 2 varients, vanilla and a full. Bepe will probable come in between those.

I would also like to appoligize for lack of participation lately on the polaris forums. I am hard at work my next rom for the athena. I will though this week get the aku 1 build mentioned and will get to work on that. I was working on my older build until i got news of this aku 1 build and decided I should instead wait to make a rom using that build

I would like to again thank those who have already donated. I will be updated the total again in a few min as i have gotten a new donation today.

Any answer?

Many of you seem to be quite impatient, but be assured that improved ROM's are forthcoming. By now, most of you are benefitting from the Team's efforts on HARDSPL, thanks to the magnificent efforts of Olipro.

You're actually using the MFG SPL from my device, modded by Olipro to be useable on your new devices. From the sounds of (gripes) here on the forum, it appears that some may under estimate the amount of time and effort already expended on your behalf.

The first device funded by the project actually got trashed attempting to perfect the HARDSPL. These things happen. We could not make any progress using my device since it already had the MFG SPL, so we needed the first device because it had the production SPL. Olipro and others on the team expended an enormous amount of time and effort to recover the first device and to GIVE YOU the SPL needed for flashing future ROMS. We are indebted to them for their time and dedication, wanting to satisfy your additiction to flashing ROMS.

Overall, I am still quite pleased with my Polaris. I have had negliglble problems with it since late November. (That's less than three months ago). Last April (07) when I first got my Athena, it seemed like it took forever for the HTC WM6 upgrade to roll out in late July (four months later). The Athena project team then picked up the ball and have been cooking and improving it ever since then.

Several from the Athena Team volunteered to pickup on the Polaris Project, prompted in part by my early acquisition of a pre-production device and their help in dumping the ROM got the ball rolling. I could have chosen to work with others, but in my own experience and opinion, this team is the best hope for our device.

PK and Itxda have stated ahead of this post where we are on the project. It isn't about money and it isn't about getting the cook a phone to test ROMs on. Both of these are quite necessary, but the end game is a fast, stable, enhanced quality ROM. Let's leave the video driver fix off the discussion board for now. This team isn't about doing that just yet. With the addition of Bepe to the team, there is much to look forward to.

If, in your state of impatience, you want the team to release 'alpha quality' ROMS, you'll only have more to (gripe) about. Our Polaris devices are cutting edge technology already. Many of the tweaks and customization tools from other devices are out there and they work on our device. Take my advice, enjoy your Polaris, tweak it as much and as often as you like. If you want to playback videos on it, do as I do and encode them for 320x240. Until the hardware acceleration gets turned on, that's the reality of what we need to do.

As for upcoming ROMs, they will come when the quality is testesd and assured. Expect slight improvements at first, with larger gains to follow, but do show the team some respect. All are volunteering their personal time which YOU will benefit freely from. I will close this rather lengthy post with this thought, "IF you shoot the horse, you'll walk". This team can pack up and move out any time they want. We should be encouraging them and supporting the effort, certainly if we expect to be given the results for free.

Respectfully - Raskell
