Hi guys,
I'm very new to pda's/smartphones 'n stuff, so be gentle.
I have a Touch Dual since few days, and the one thing that irritates me is the keyboard backlight. When typing an sms the lights go off just after 8 seconds or so... That's too fast for me, I still have to get used to having a qwerty keypad on my phone.
to be clear: I don't mean the backlight on the display itself, buy the light beneath the keypad when open.
Is there a registry setting, or a tweak/application that could correct this for me?
Thnx in advance,
Lukas

You could try the most excellent KaiserTweak, I've found most of its tweaks to be compatible with my Nike, haven't tried the backlight though -> http://www.jongma.org/KaiserTweak/

yes try the kaiserTweak. it's under option Keyboard->backlight. The default value is 10 sec. you can up the time to more in the tweak.

Downloaded the tweak app, changed the keyboard setting and a bunch of other interesting settings (because I'm a curious idiot in case someone asks) and now the device kind of hangs on the password screen... I can't unlock anymore.
The device reacts to taps and both screen and keypad input. Also, if I type the wrong password I get the obvious error message. If I type the correct passcode, and tap 'unlock' then nothing happens and after a minute or so the * disappear and I can start over again..
Is this a known bug?
What do I do now? Hard reset? That will wipe out all my settings and files right?
Thnx
Lukas

I took this from the manual because from what you described. doesn't sound like you did it correctly. a hard reset should put it back to its factory setting.
Hard reset
You can also perform a hard reset (also known as a full reset). A hard reset should be performed only if a normal reset does not solve a system problem. After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings -‑ the way it was when you first purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you customized on your device will be lost. Only Windows Mobile® software and other pre-installed programs will remain.
To perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the TALK and END buttons, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the left side of your device.
2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the TALK and END buttons until you see the following message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to the manufacturer default settings. Press ENTER to restore manufacturer defaults, or press any other button to cancel.
3. Release the TALK and END buttons, and then press ENTER on your device.
Warning! Your device will be set back to factory default settings. Please ensure any additional installed programs and/or user data have been backed up before a hard reset is performed.

Hi Fatlove...
Indeed you're right. And I did read my manual. And I did it EXACTLY like stated in the manual. :-)
This is what I posted in the General forum:
Ok,
This is going to be stupid, but I'll admit to it anyway...
I've read in the manual on how to perform a hard rest. It states to push the send and end buttons, keep the pushed in, and then press the soft reset button until a text appears on the screen. That text states to press "Enter" to continue, and any other key to cancel.
Well, the 'Enter' key to me is the 'enter' key on that qwerty keypad, not the shiny silver button between the Send and End buttons.
To the writer of the manual the enter key on the keypad does not exist.
So that's why a hard reset did not help. Because I did not perform one.
My bad. Anyways, my phone is ok again, sorry for the doublepost.
Grtz

Anyways, thnx for the reply, and for the record: the keypad backlight still doesn't work after har reset and re-applying the keiser tweak. Still lit only 8 seconds or so. Does it matter that I copied the Keiser executable to my storage card? It doesn't have to be on the device itself now, does it?
Thnx again.

I tried changing values in the registry as well, but nothing worked. So I'm also interested in a possible solution...
