View Full Version : ActiveSync 4.5 App Crashes B4 Sync Completion with 8925 Tilt

Up until recently, I've been successfully using "Microsoft Active Sync 4.5", to sync my 8925 Tilt's data to my PC (running Windows XP w/service pack2). Now Active Sync keeps crashing at/near the very end of the syncing process. I removed Active Sync from my PC via add/remove programs, and also moved the previously synced folder (Tilt files) from my PC desktop onto another HD, and then reinstalled Active Sync from scratch. Unfortunately Active Sync continues to crash even after reinstall, including removing the Tilt to PC link partnership and reassigning a new one. The crash error message window reads: "ActiveSync Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Here is the list of items I've got selected for syncing:

contacts
calendar
tasks
notes
files
WorldmatePro
Autofile
Movie Guide
Spb Wallet

The syncing process appeared to hang when it attempts to complete syncing the 'files' and/or 'notes' section, so I subsequently removed both 'files' & 'notes' from the sync item list, but unfortunately, Active Sync continues to crash right after having successfully(?) syncing all items, as interestingly enough, a synced check mark appears next to all items before the program actually crashes.

Is Microsoft Active Sync the only program that can sync the phone's: contacts, calendar, tasks, notes, and backup/sync files to your PC? I also own Sprite backup (full version) but I don't believe its a syncing program like Active Sync is.

Anybody here experienced problems with ActiveSync 4.5?

I have lots of apps installed & have made a lot of tweaks on my Tilt, so short of performing a hard reset on my phone, are there any suggestions on how I can get Active Sync working (w/o crashing) again?

Thanks in advance for all help and input.

Jazz

Try unchecking the "Enable advanced network functionality" box under the connections tab > USB to PC.

Make sure there are not any older versions of Microsoft office on your machine.

ActiveSync doesnt know where to look for the sync items if you havent COMPLETELY removed everything.

I had a similar problem, had an update from office 2000xp to 2007 and it wouldnt sync.

Many ppl have multiple versions of Office installed as a result of trial versions that were installed at the factory the never got removed, and other factors. Remove all versions of Office and all components. Then install only the version you intend to use in perpetuity.
