I. did I softreset yet? did I make the Prophet recovery? (remove battery and sim card),
II. will the USB port of my PC currently too heavy loaded?

III. did I restart my PC yet?
IV. any connection related software other than activesync is running?

V. did I try the rear panel USB ports?
V.I is my PC currently too busy?

VI. did I try other USB cable yet?
VII. did I try the force bootloader manually before upgrade?

VIII. Did I hardreset my prophet after new flash(if everything had done but no help~~~~ ) ^_^

1: "DON'T PANIC",

2: 99.9999% CAN BE RECOVERED BY
DOWNGRADE TO WM5 WITH entering BOOT_LOADER MODE + flashing the PVtemp (old method step 1).

3: IF USB CONNECTION ERRORS, TRY REMOVE BATTERY FOR 1 MINUTE and try again.

4: FORCE BOOTLOADER MODE MANUALLY HOW TO = ....

4a. keep pressing the Commgr button and

4b. in the same time keep picking/sticking the bottom softreset button with stylus for one second,

4c. THEN ONLY ONLY RELEASE THE STYLUS and wait for the screen
TO CHANGE to the three color screen (bootloader mode),

4d. then release all and go to step 10 below..... !!!

(remember to download and prepare all files you needed first, or you may have errors while in the upgrade process)

5. Execute the Rom Upgrade Utility (ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe ( or G4), in the
HardSPL folder that you had downloaded, all activities will only take 2-3 minutes to go and
nothing will be seen in the Prophet screen.

(P.S. if connection Error, NO PANIC, soft reset OR remove battery for half a minute and try again. )

6. after the flash completed, it will restart automatically.

7. done!! in your prophet, nothing will be changed VISIBLY EXCEPT the digits IN the reboot screen !!!!!
and while booting now YOU MUSTBE ABLE TO SEE information like: 2.G3.4PDA (FOR G3 PROPHET) or 2.G4.4PDA (FOR G4 PROPHET)

Prophet Hard SPL isn't yet completed until the SPL shows

"2.G3.4PDA" or "2.G4.4PDA". ^_^ !!!

Alternate way to Flashing / upgrading your Prophet to WM6,

a. ENTER BOOTLOADER (see how to at the upper part of this post) OR

b. DO THE JUMPSPL...(step 8-9 BELOW) (you can force to bootloader mode instead of step 8 to 9)

8. copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip to the root directory of your Prophet and then unplug / disconnect Prophet,

9. Execute the SPL.lnk IN THE DEVICE (using the Total Commander is recommended), then you see Prophet in all bright or white screen,

10. Plug back to the USB port ( connect to rear USB panel of the computer - recommended) to the device,

11. Execute the Rom Upgrade Utility to upgrade to your chosen rom
(or put your NK.NBF to the unzipped WM6_Update_Utility folder), all activities will
only take 3-5 minutes, nothing will be seen in the Prophet screen.

12. Finally, after 100%, be patient, just wait, and Prophet will reboot automatically.

13. OF COURSE, after it auto-restart, better one more time HARD-RESET,

ALL will be OKOKOK !!!



Tradition (OLD) method.... (for ROM with OS.nb ),

1. Connect to PC, activesync now OK, Flash with PVtemp (www.v-dog.net/XDA/PVTemp.zip) or NVID for prophet (http://v-dog.net/XDA/RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.zip) for step 1

WHEN FINISH,

2. TOUCH NOTHING, HANDS-UP !!! leave it alone, just don't touch your prophet...... ( WM5 wwe flashing now finished)

3. ACTIVE SYNC WILL POPS UP soon, JUST DON'T TOUCH IT (disregard it) ,

4. THEN RUN UPGRADE.BAT from PC to flash to WM6 (should be included in your old ROM package with OS.nb )

5. follow the on screen steps and YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU HAD EXPECTED THEN~~~~~

HardSPL could sometimes not 100% perfect, as my experience. My Prophet stuck at Tri-color screen once after flashing a WM6 Rom, and I had to flash the official WWE AKU 2.2 Rom with IPL/SPL to set it to work.
SoftSPL method is more reliable, IMO.

If our Prophet has IPL/SPL 2.××, just do SoftSPL before flash new WM6 Rom.
No need to flash HardSPL.

you've better.... ( FOR NEW METHOD)

1. After flashing hardSPL for g3 ( step 1) all went ok.

then BEFORE flashing/upgrading your Prophet to WM6,

please copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip to the root directory of
your G3 Prophet ( JUST NEXT TO THE " \WINDOWS" FOLDER,
(attachached, pease unzip and copy then paste)

2. UNPLUG YOUR DEVICE from PC,

3. Execute the SPL shortcut IN THE DEVICE, then you see a all bright or white screen,

Then plug back the USB port ( connect to computer) the device, THEN use the Rom Upgrade Utility (RUU) to the rom you like ( all activities can only be seen in the PC screen, nothing will be shown on the prophet....

4. Finally, after 100% ( at 85% may take to wait a bit longer, just be
patient, as it may look like hang for about 2 minutes) just wait, all will went
ok AND OF COURSE, after it auto-restart, ALL will be OKOKOK !!!

( better hard-reset for once more )

No, HardSPL is not needed to flash back to WM5 Rom.
Just put the Prophet into bootloader(Tri-color screen) and take RUU of WM5 Rom, will surely succeed, anytime.

Yea, I must agree with Eqancy. Tried your method several times, the SPL says just what is should (2.G3.4PDA) but bootloader kicks in every time and nothing seems to work any longer.
Seems like I must be back to the old method.

( FOR NEW METHOD), the very first to start to WM6, Green member should follow syep by step

ATTENTION 1: BASIC SOLUTION = " DON'T PANIC" as there are always some circumstances.

ATTENTION 2: 99% CAN BE RECOVERED BACK TO WM5 WITH BOOTLOADER MODE + PVtemp.

ATTENTION 3: IF USB CONNECTION ERRORS, TRY REMOVE BATTERY FOR 1 MINUTE.

just root directory.....

3) Ran spl.lnk file, got white screen
4) Connecting to USB FAILS!!!!!

I tried doing soft reset and removed the battery for a while, restarted my computer.. NOTHING helped out.

Bottom line is whenever I connect my USB with white screen its not connecting to ActiveSyn and also the downgrade exe also giving error message like no connection with PC.

Help me out with this.

By itself it doesn't have any advantage. But if you want to flash homecooked ROM's using the RUU (Rom Update Utility, you probably know from the official ROM's) you will have bypass the "normal" SPL. Otherwise i wouldn't allow the non-official ROM to be flashed.

You can execute this bypass temporarily, using SoftSPL aka JumpSPL.
If you are planning on flashing a lot, you better install HardSPL. This version stays resident untill another SPL is installed.

I've upgraded from WM5 to Crystal 5.1 WM6.1 with success but only achieved a sucessful upgrade when:

1. Made HardSPL directly on the phone following the instructions given on the first post
2. Reset the device
3. Attached USB cable
4. Let ActiveSync 4.5 make the connection
5. Clicked on the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe from the folder with the ROM

Hope this helps someone.

one thing is that you don't have to softSPL if you have already HardSPL your device. with HardSPL you overwrite the SPL of your device with a patched SPL (i.e you will CID Unlock your phone). SoftSPL on the other hand is when you don't want to perform HardSPL (i.e keep the original SPL) and you still want to upgrade your rom with updateUtility.

once again , you don't need SoftSPL if you hardSPL before. you only have to HardSPL once and never again. so I think somehow HardSPL is easier :)

Hey~~~ not annoying at all, just wanna let you know that there is a simple way to solve the matter ~ :)

( if always got stuck in bootloader already, you need to flash to PVtemp first, you will be in WM5 wwe version after that)

( download all need files before flashing .. so no need to wait for errors)

Finally!!! Success :D
How I done it:
1. Completly clean windows, simple reinstall.
2. Downgrade to PVTemp with bootloader enable.
3. Connect PDA to PC, run file from attachment - Upgrade_SPL_G4.bat. Accept communicate on PDA screen, Prophet screen will be white - then fast unplug / plug device and follow communicates on the PC.
4. SPL now is proper.
5. Simply install new rom - it works ;)

The error was when the prophet screen went white and started flashing with RUU - I wrote - it was when RUU tried to communicate with Prophet.
But as i wrote above - all is working perfectly ;)
In my opinion file from attachment it's better - you musn't copy any files - all is done automaticly...

First, I tried to install a new rom. It did not work. When I did a reset to the prophet not started. Stop shows where the "Ipl 2.13 and SPL 2.13.0000."
I was to read your post and whenever I try to install something, after entering the bootloader (TVTemp) it gives me an error of connection (error 260). I think this is where I have the problem!

1 - connect the prophet (which is blocked indicates the ipl 2.13 and spl 2.13.0000);

2 - Then put it in bootloader (Camera and reset);

3 - Then, I will run TVtemp (ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe), and here he is not happening! Give me always the same error (Error 260).

Connect to my Desktop PC (Window XP with Pack 2), activate Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5.

1. softreset, then power off with poweroff button,

2. force bootloader ( keep pressing comm manager buton and same time pit the reset hole
for 1 second adn release the stulus ONLY and wait for the bootloader mode,

3. plug back and flash PVtemp instantly ( don't wait )

okay let me explain, the rom update utility shipped in PVtemp file seems not working and always gets that error 300.
i used ftp://xda:xda@ftp.xda-developers.com/Prophet/Tools/ROMUpdateUtility-NoVendorID.zip
and the same nknbf file it worked fine till now it's 82% now wish me luck
am planning to do HARDSPL afterwards ..and reupdate with the WM6.1 again :D

Like PVtemp and your favorite rom and upgrade utilities of your G3 or G4 (MUST BE CLARIFIED PRIOR FLASHING)

OK.....


SHOULD BE NO ERRORS IF FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING STEPS

1. which rom you are going to flash? as new and old roms are in completely different ways....

2. ActiveSync 4.5 ..... need to be preinstalled BUT NOT NECESSARY to be noticed in flashing,

3. for old methods ( or to save your prophet)

- force Prophet to bootloader, (see how to in my post 1)
- plug back to PC, you must see the appear of the "USB" from the left bottom
Prophet screen (this mean connection success, DON'T bother the ActiveSync),

- Flash PVtemp straight ahead and don't wait.

- after waiting for this step..... after finish... the Prophet will reboot automatically,
the Activesync will pops up and JUST LEAVE IT ALONE........

IMPORTANT HERE, PAY ATTENTION !!!

OLD ROMS
1. flash straight ahead for "old roms" like Transformer 1.1 ........
2. be patient, it will be fine and you can see the process.... and remember to
hardreset after Prophet reboots....

New roms.... follow my post 1,

( jumpspl~~~~~~~~~~)

i swear to god am getting NUTS, it's my first time to expercience something like that.

[Error 300] invalid update tool, all the files "ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4" give the same error and i swear that my phone is the BOOT MODE, i know how to bring my phone to the boot mode by using the reset and comm buttons, and i know that when i connect my usb it shows USB in the screen, but dont work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as i run the upgrade utility it replies error 300

i swear to god am getting NUTS, it's my first time to expercience something like that.

[Error 300] invalid update tool, all the files "ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4" give the same error and i swear that my phone is the BOOT MODE, i know how to bring my phone to the boot mode by using the reset and comm buttons, and i know that when i connect my usb it shows USB in the screen, but dont work !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as i run the upgrade utility it replies error 300

i tried the old ROMUpdateUtility-NoVendorID it passed this step and started sending the rom but it stoped @ 95% saying that rom file is not compatable or something like that !!!!

well i read too much and also read this topic completely but im a perfect noob about this situation and couldnt figure out what to do.

Im doing well the bootloader part but i cant reach to my s200 from my comp because Activesync and my computer doesnt see that i pluged the usb cable. i also tried on an another computer and other usb ports :S.

1. which rom you are going to flash? as new and old roms are in completely different ways....

2. ActiveSync 4.5 ..... need to be preinstalled BUT NOT NECESSARY to be noticed in flashing,

3. for old methods ( or to save your prophet)

- force Prophet to bootloader, (see how to in my post 1)
- plug back to PC, you must see the appear of the "USB" from the left bottom
Prophet screen (this mean connection success, DON'T bother the ActiveSync),

- Flash PVtemp straight ahead and don't wait.

- after waiting for this step..... after finish... the Prophet will reboot automatically,
the Activesync will pops up and JUST LEAVE IT ALONE........

IMPORTANT HERE, PAY ATTENTION !!!

OLD ROMS
1. flash straight ahead for "old roms" like Transformer 1.1 ........
2. be patient, it will be fine and you can see the process.... and remember to
hardreset after Prophet reboots....

New roms.... follow my post 1,

where did you get the PVtemp? From my post 1?

1. Better download again ( sometimes file corrupt)

2. do you have any PPC related softwares installed in your PC?

3. did your disable activesync? ( don't do that),

4. acticesync 4.5 installed?

5. your Prophet is battery good?

6. you PC is healthy? ( virus, too busy, too heavy loaded....)

7. try restart PC already?

8. really follow my steps one by one?

but.....

you case mostly cause by corupted files.

My detail upgrade procedures and steps:

1 - connect the prophet (which is blocked indicates the ipl 2.13 and spl 2.13.0000);

2 - Then put it in bootloader (Camera and reset);

3 - Then, I will run TVtemp (ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe), and here he is not happening! Give me always the same error (Error 260).

What I am doing wrong?

It works!
The problem was my pc! My OS was the win vista. Probably the mistake that I gave was that. Tried to do the update at pc of my colleague and has worked. Well I do not know why.

I have a G3 Prophet on WM5 and want to flash to wm6.1 with touch x slim rom.

It's a new rom so I was following the new method.
1. I already have ActiveSync 4.5
2. I download the 3 jumpspl file and the G3 upgrade utility.
3. I placed the jumpspl files in the root of device.
4. Ran spl.lnk. Screen on prophet turns white.
5. Plug prophet directly to laptop via usb.
6. Ran the G3 upgrade utility. But I get an error that no device is connected. My ActiveSync is not connecting when prophet is on this white screen. And my WinXP keeps on saying new pocketpc usb sync detected and then no drivers can be found.

What am I suppose to do?

Is there an error on the device screen? Try flashing a WM5 ROM (no need for hard or soft spl) to see if you get the same error. Force the device into bootloader, disable connect though USB, and then run the RUU

1. confirm new or old rom first, check it out, don't just think or guess,

2. follow strict my steps that you should do for new rom or old roms......

Hardspl.bat is the hard spl utility. soft spl should work just as well, but you will need to do it everytime you flash new ROM.

I was trying to follow the directions that you wrote (quoted below). Which step did I miss? Steps 1-4 went okay, but I can't do step 5. G3 update utility from hardspl folder says no device connected.
Also how do I know which rom it is? It doesn't say new or old in the title (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=348904).

WM6 or 6.1 flashing ~~

**** Flashing HARDSPL first................ (download and prepare all files you needed first, or you will receive errors in processes)

1. copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip (attached at the bottom of this post )to the
ROOT directory of your Prophet ( NOT NOT NOT inside the windows folder,)

2. UNPLUG/disconnect YOUR DEVICE from PC,

3. Execute the SPL.lnk IN THE DEVICE (use Total Commander recommended or you
will make errors), then you see Prophet in all bright or white screen,

4. Then plug back the USB port ( connect to computer), here, nothing will be seen in the prophet
(make step 5 NOW or you will receive errors and need to do over again),

5. THEN execute the Rom Upgrade Utility (ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe ( or G4), in the
HardSPL folder that you had downloaded, all activities will only take 2-3 minutes to go,
nothing will be seen in the Prophet screen. if you see unknown device detected (not normal) from PC, you need to repeat the above procedures.....

(P.S. if connection Error, NO PANIC, soft reset OR remove battery for half a minute and try again. )

6. after the flash completed, it will restart automatically.

7. done, in your prophet, nothing will be changed EXCEPT the digits from the reboot screen !!!!!
and while booting now should be showing information like: 2.G3.4PDA or 2.G4.4PDA

Good time to WM6 ( or your favorite nk.nbf )

BEFORE flashing/upgrading your Prophet to WM6, you need to

a. ENTER BOOTLOADER (see how to at the upper part of this post) OR

b. DO THE JUMPSPL..........(step 8-9 BELOW) (alternatively, you can enter bootloader mode instead of step 8 to 9)

8. copy the 3 files from the jumpspl.zip to the root directory of your Prophet and then unplug / disconnect Prophet,

9. Execute the SPL.lnk IN THE DEVICE (using the Total Commander is recommended), then you see Prophet in all bright or white screen,

10. Plug back the USB port ( connect to rear USB panel of the computer - recommended) to the device,

11. Execute the Rom Upgrade Utility to upgrade to your chosen rom
(or put your NK.NBF to the unzipped WM6_Update_Utility folder), all activities will
only take 3-5 minutes, nothing will be seen in the Prophet screen.

12. Finally, after 100%, be patient, just wait, and Prophet will reboot automatically.

13. OF COURSE, after it auto-restart, better one more time HARD-RESET

In general, if the ROM has two steps to it, it is the old style and does NOT need hard spl. If it has one step (or just an nk.nbf file) it is the 'new' style and needs hard/soft spl.

Uninstall AS.
Download an original ROM.
Download and install AS 4.5.
Restart your computer.
Re pair your device with your computer.
Unzip the ROM to the root directory of your hardrive.
Run the RUU for your device from there.

First I reinstall windows then I downgrade to PVTemp via bootloader.
Files from jumpspl copied to prophet's main directory, started from totalcmd...
Still the same, always error 300 ;(
Maybe it's caused by spl change, during some operation i noticed it was updated to 2.20 from 2.15...
I really have no idea...

Finally!!! Success :D
How I done it:
1. Completly clean windows, simple reinstall.
2. Downgrade to PVTemp with bootloader enable.
3. Connect PDA to PC, run file from attachment - Upgrade_SPL_G4.bat. Accept communicate on PDA screen, Prophet screen will be white - then fast unplug / plug device and follow communicates on the PC.
4. SPL now is proper.
5. Simply install new rom - it works ;)

xwebik your advice really helped me! I didn't manage to HardSPL with the standard file on page 1. I recommend the alternate HardSPL method to everyone who wants to permanently update their bootloader!

Using the new method, you do not need to use PVTemp. Using the 'old' method, you do not need to do HardSPL, but you can use any 'step one' NVID ROM.

Connect your device to your PC and run that exe. That should flash a basic ROM to your device. From there you can do everything else.

Is the ROM an OS.nb or an nk.nbf? if it is the first, you need to follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310452
if it is the nk.nbf, use the 'new' upgrade guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350033

It should be quite easy and quick to do. You will need to flash the NVID WM5 ROM before you run the *.bat file. It should all be explained though.

i've made the hardspl last night..and the 2.g3.4pda is shown know...but my phone especially the cube is slowed down a little...when i've searched the windows directory there was these file ruuprophet and etc..can it be the cause..?

Yes, usually, the more files in the /windows folder, the slower / more lag in the system performance.....

If you need that cube, there are many fast roms with cube built in the extended_rom,

go make some flashes and try then. ^_^

The "RUUProphet" will either be a system file, or be left in accidentaly. The update system itself cannot alter the nk.nbf, and so it is very very unlikely to have come from there.

IPL 2.10.0001
SPL 2.G4.4PDA
GSM 10.0.0.0

I want upgrade with Coffie Rom wm6.1.
I don't HardSPL my device, it's true?
Don't necessity?
I go in bootloader and start Prophet Tools 2.8.1?

Your device is a G4, and it has already been "hardSPLed" So you shouldn't need to do that. It will also not have a SIM lock, so you should be able just to flash a ROM.

I trying flash my Prophet with Prophet Tools 2.8.1 but I have problems:
I using Prophet Tools 2.8.1.
1. I put rom coffie, renamed nk.nbf, in tools directory
1. I try to connect device in "bootloader" mode at usb but activesync not work, shutdown, and the Prophet Tools not recognize never!
2. I try to connect device in "on" mode at usb, activesync work, Prophet tools recognize the rom installed 10.0.0.0 but not recognize the rom coffie?!?!
Why? What I have bad?

I would recommend that you don't use prophet tools for this. In the Coffie ROM you downloaded, there would have been an RUU, run that instead.

Now, here comes a direct upgrade batch from WM5 to WM6.1 tool for ONLY

for those CANNOT successfully flash the hardSPL (e.g. same spl after HardSPL flashes) ,


download this attachment (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=82715&stc=1&d=1208932220), place your favorite xxx.nbf, double click the Upgrade.cmd,

then follow the clicks on PC, thats it !!

BE NOTED: there are issues about the PC performance, will get connection errors after
messing up with PC software, better stop from giving up too easily.

You MAY need to flash for some tries.

I did have one case to flash my prophet for 3 times to return in a succeed.

Now, I can flash any 6.1 rom fast and easy even my SPL shows: 1.00.0000 (IPL 1.00)

just finish direct flash to V's green 6.1.... wondering why takes a bit long in rebooting.. :( :D:D

I have flashed a New 6.1 Rom 3 Day but i have errors all times,sometimes the rom dont`t work,sometimes ana programs or connections,other errors belonged to the uc-edtion or storecard,so i went back to original WM5 from
o2 germany.

With your tool it works perfect. I made a uptime to German Korand 6.1 (from animelover) with uc and it works perfect.

I must reboot and flash 2 times,but now is working perfect. I have nor errors found until now.

Furthermore, here is some more hints for other members ~~

if connection error persists (260,264,274,280 or whatsoever) while upgrading with the tool,

Please ask yourself...

1. did I softreset yet?

2. will the USB port of my PC currently too heavy loaded?

3. did I restart my PC yet?

4. any connection related software other than activesync is running?

5. did I try the rear panel USB ports?

6. did I try other USB cable yet?

7. did I try the force bootloader manually before upgrade?

8. Did I hardreset my prophet (if everything had done but no help~~~~ )

A detailed heart + a bit patient + no panic..... never lose!!!

I've been lost in this forum for the last 2 days. I was so confused and no single try had succeeded. And now,
this method worked like a charm!!!
I managed to installed touch evolution rom at first try! The IPL and SPL numbers did not change, but it still works! My device seems to have no problem so far.

Looking at it, it is a nice utility that JumpSPLs the device and then flashes the ROM in one step. I might integrate this idea within Prophet Tools...

I think it should. The locations for JumpSPL are the same for both G3 and G4, so only the RUU will make the difference. I haven't tested it up till now cause I haven't flashed a ROM recently!

First I reinstall windows then I downgrade to PVTemp via bootloader.
Files from jumpspl copied to prophet's main directory, started from totalcmd...
Still the same, always error 300 ;(
Maybe it's caused by spl change, during some operation i noticed it was updated to 2.20 from 2.15...
I really have no idea...

Finally!!! Success :D
How I done it:
1. Completly clean windows, simple reinstall.
2. Downgrade to PVTemp with bootloader enable.
3. Connect PDA to PC, run file from attachment - Upgrade_SPL_G4.bat. Accept communicate on PDA screen, Prophet screen will be white - then fast unplug / plug device and follow communicates on the PC.
4. SPL now is proper.
5. Simply install new rom - it works ;)
Okay, after a lot of brain work, I finally managed to see the title screen with this info:

IPL: 2.20.0001
SPL: 2.G4.4PDA
GSM: 02.47.21
OS 7.0.0.7 (Prophet_S4V.19701.01_F (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=389982))
