What app is this? Not the comm port settings is it?

If so let me know I have that.

This seems like an older version of the program. Need one of the guys with a Pre Prod model to dump the program out. Much more options in this than with GPS Test, but it doesnt fit or format to the s730 well at all. Does offer more overall options which I like though.

Messed around with these 2 programs last night, didnt make a diff in anyway. One thing i did see was that if you go into HTCGPStool.exe / Function / Cold start etc it says " please open com port first "

Any ideas ?

If you start something like 'GPS Test' the com port is activated. But it makes no difference.

I found this strange CAB file in the pre-production ROM from Rafuz. It installs correctly, and after the installation I'm able to Open COM using "Start NMEA Messages". I see the messages in the textbox, but I still can't find satelites... :rolleyes:
I used all the GPS files (GPSID.dll, GPSAux.dll, etc) from Rafuz, and even his HTCServices.dll :o
It seems this CAB installs a working driver for the GPS chip (GPSID_QCT.dll):confused:

Which tool do you use to test this?

Dont get anything working. I tried with el_lo's file he posted and with the files moneytoo posted but still nothing. Dont see any diff to what GPStest does.

And the game goes on.

Is anyone able to see what the reg. setting are from Rafs dump to compare?

Maybe this is interesting
Pre-production ROM:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\GPSID]
"Dll"="GPSID.dll"
"Order"=dword:10
"Keep"=dword:1
"Prefix"="GPD"
"Index"=dword:0
"Context"=dword:0
"Flags"=dword:2
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Multiplexer]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Multiplexer\ActiveDevice]
"Dll"="GPSID.dll"
"Keep"=dword:1
"Flags"=dword:2
"Context"=dword:12344160

Production ROM:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\GPSID]
"Dll"="GPSID_QCT.dll"
......

Changing the reg to those values doesnt work. Com port wont open with reg. refering to GPSID.dll.

Not sure if the production model has the GPSID.dll or its wrong.

Production ROM has gpsid.dll - doesnt work. So go on.

I much prefer this program to GPS Test, a lot more baud options and it gives your more sat data. I was playing with it last night and was able to see two sats at once from my desk but the second one dropped off quickly, and both were too the north.

I suppose that the other topics (except v HTCGPSTool) is continuing in other hot threads:

RUU_Wings_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.0_R_radio_sign_25.47.20 .01_1.58.09.17_Test
and GPS thread.

It is not good to solve the same problem (how to make working GPS) in more threads parallely. It is very confusing - you have to jump from one to other thread for particular results to connect them together. :rolleyes:

does it work? GPS?

On the S740 yes out of the box. On our 730's you can buy a bluetooth or USB GPS reciever and yes it will work. Internally? At this point I go with never. Phone was discontinued a month ago (740 announcement) and as no one has yet modded on an antena or fully figured out all the differences I wouldnt worry about it.

I myself am planning to change devices to something better.
