For those who cannot install the HardSPL and don't wonna read this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349476), here is the solution:

1a. download the 5 attached files
1b. pull out the battery, REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !! and reinsert battery (this step *is* important)
1c. connect your PC to phone with a USB cable
2. copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it (make sure the USB cable is still connected). If you still get a white screen then reset your device and now try JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe
3. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the phone display
4. unplug and replug the usb cable
5. deselect "Allow USB connections" in Activesync connection settings
6. now flash hardSPL (run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC)

Notes:
1. if when running a JumpSPL an error is shown try to application unlock your device first with SDA_ApplicationUnlock (you must run this on PC with an activesync connection via USB cable). If you still get errors you need to hard reset your device (power off, keep both left and right navigation keys pressed and power on)
2. With the JumpSPL you should *not* flash radio roms, OS roms or full roms. The JumpSPL is only needed to flash a HardSPL (or SPL)

thanks, will have to try it once i get back home..!

UPDATE:ok, couldnt wait, tried it out, and it worked, many thanks, this was a nice xmas gift made even nicer by your efforts to make this possible..!

NB: i was somewhat worried because of a few beginners' errors;

1.i wasnt sure where to install the Jumpspl1 hence i just saved onto phone, is that ok and/or should i remove(move) it?

2.initially i got an error, went through the Recovery feature, and tried again, 2nd time around it step 1&2 worked, and then loaded Duttys rom

3. Thanks a million, your generosity of time is exemplerary,

Merry Xmas to one and all..!

PS:what are the prereqs for updating the radio(Provider=Fido), is usually more recent better or is it via trial and error?

After running JumpSPL I get to the tri-color screen, pull the usb after 'usb' comes up, plug it back in, and nothing (tri-color screen stays till i reboot)...
A soft-boot brings the Tilt back to life.
SIM card and SD are removed.

My version numbers seem to match people who successfully flashed.

Stumped...

*sigh.. young gun, back in my day we had to run everything ourselves, it wasn't put in a neat little package that did everything for us.

After you get into the tircolored screen and plug your USB back in, you have extract and run hard spl (using the file on the first page of this thread).

Tried this, get an error 240 - can not open file w/ the hardSPL and the Splash executables.
Should have mentioned that in the last post. Sorry. Assumed there was a reboot or something coming after resetting the usb connection...

OK maybe this can be an example for others (and me)
.
I was able to flash a splash so I got cocky and tried to flash a cooked rom via kaiser kitchen.

Now I'm stuck in the boot loader.

I then tried to flash RUU_Kaiser_CINGULAR_WWE_.exe and got "invalid vendor id".

Then I tried to flash hard_spl from the first post. 0%

I've searched for hours trying to find a fix.
I tried a hard reset. No dice.
I've got mtty running and ran the boot command.
Fill RSVD information for block 288 to 309
Storage start sector=0xAB80, total sector=0x10740
Storage start block=707, total block=1053
Total Bad Block in CE: 1

Erase physical block from 996 to 2032

si backup: Erase physical block from 2032 to 2048
It still wont boot.
Please help...
boot screen shows:
RUUNBH
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000

again please help....

Your device is still in ROM update mode ("RUUNBH").
Connect with MTTY and type "task 8" will clear that mode.

If the device won't boot into Windows Mobile you will have to flash an original ROM with model and vendor ID (CID) matching to your device.
Use "info 0" to for getting Model ID and "info 2" for Vendor ID (CID).
ModelID is 9 digits and VendorID is 8 digits.

While you are at it, please make a note of the entire "info 0" output.
Mine is:

Thanks man, you rock. I was needing this so I could flash a new radio (AT&T's default radio sucks for some reason). Donation is on its way.

Also, I can verify this works on a MacBook Pro using Parallels.. with a lot of stuff happening on the "Mac side"... but I like living life dangerously. ;-)

edit: Something funky with USB won't let ROM's successfully flash on a Mac using Parallels. Using the SD Card method works great, though. I just needed Windows to flash HardSPL. Whew. :) .. what's weird is I never had a problem flashing my Hermes via Parallels+Mac... Can't figure out why... I just retried flashing a ROM to my Hermes, and it went without a problem. Kaiser never gets past 10-15%. Odd.

alright i feel like a complete idiot here and i will gladly donate if someone can guide me through this.

ok so i move the jumpspl file to the phone via activesync, however on the phone itself i cannot find it anywhere even though it says its been sync'd. its almost as if its a hidden file.

i tried running the jumpspl on the laptop and its not a win32 application.

i tried reflashing with the roms and i get to the tricolor usb screen and it sits at 0% and then gives me connection error 262.

so i guess my questions are where the hell do i run the jumpspl from if it wont run on the laptop and it wont show up in the phone even though when i explore it on activesync it shows its there.

what do you mean by "really looking at it"? You must use file manager on your Tilt and navigate to the folder. I always move stuff to /temp when I'm using activesync then navigate there with file manager. If you are doing this and can't see it then the jumpspl file itself may be hidden.

1. power down your Tilt and remove sd card and sim card

1. open "Mobile Device" folder via "Explore" button on ActiveSync.
2. copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to the directory that it opens up to. Mine says "Mobile Device". That will be your "My Documents" directory on your Tilt.
3. use file explorer on Tilt to navigate to "My Documents" directory. Keep hitting "up" till you cant go any farther. The directory should be there.

I tried reseting the phone myself, and then running KaiserCustomRUU, but it froze at 0% both times I tried. ROM wasn't corrupted or anything, it reset fine.

I thinks there is some confusion here...your device will not reset but you will here active sync disconnect then you will here the usb connect, you should see a usb connection established. Once you here this happen then run through the rest of the process. Once you have completed this process you should verify that it has taken the hardspl by enter the bootloader mode..press and hold the power+camera buttons and reset it with your stylus, contine to hold the buttons after releasing the stylus and wait for the tricolor screen you should seen the new spl info...if this is correct then you can flash any rom you wish....hope this helps

When I run KaiserCustomRUU, the first program that runs jumps flashes something on my computer screen very fast and then it starts the Phone Rom update utility. My phone has not reset to this point and I don't have an activesync connection which is what this step needs. If I soft reset my phone, let activesync connect, and run the ROM update, it changes to the white screen, and goes from 0 to 100% very fast. The ROM does not update. Thanks for any help

Mission completed, you managed to install the hard-SPL.
You can now flash any ROM :)

Remove and reinsert the battery and start the phone again, all should be fine.
If u still get the missing SIM message try another SIM.

Please check your Update Utility." and I am left only w/ the option to Quit. A soft-reset returns my Tilt to normal...

Please help if you have any suggestions.
After completing step 5 what does your boot screen say?

Awesome. I used this to flash Dutty's newest rom last night and it worked without out any issues. Thanks a lot.

For those who cannot install the HardSPL and don't wonna read this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349476), here is the solution:

- download the 3 attached files
- REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
- copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it
- after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
- unplug and replug the usb cable
- if you want to see if this works you can flash a Splash screen by running KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-splash.zip on your PC
- if you want to flash a hardSPL then run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC

This works for 1.56/1.57 Kaiser/TILT but not for 1.82. I started a new thread here [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355910"]. I may have one of only a few 1.82's out in the wild, but I won't be the last since this is the most recent version that HTC has started shipping to the market.

Please come join me in this thread... because misery loves company - or so the saying goes ;)

Hi dear,
during the installationof HARDSP on my new Tilt, the PDA doesn't go in Bootloader mode (3 colors screen) but stop it in a white screen......and I can only make a soft reset to continue to use it.
I have read something about these new version of Kaiser but I need to reflash my Tilt.
Is there someone who know the way to resolve this problem?

Thanks and regards

After completing step 5 what does your boot screen say?
I get the same thing too, with a slight wrinkle. I was able to load the new splash screen,(which one tests by resetting the phone and proceeded to do the flash-hardspl. I get the tricolor screen, pull out the USB cable, hear the usb disconnect tone, put it back in, hear the usb connect tone, but Microsoft Active Sync shows not connected. So when I run the KaisercustomRUU.exe, I go through the 2 next, the get the
Error (240) File open, which I guess indicates it cant get to the device?

In my case the boot screen sez KAIS1*0 SPL-1.56.Jump CPLD-8.

That makes 2 of us?

Okay. I tried again this morning. What I didnt realize was once you had run jumpspl1.56-KAIS that it will now go on initialization mode on its own when you run a flash-????. So I tried to flash the test only screen again with Active sync showing it connected, and it goes through all the way until the status bar at the phone and times out at 0%, indicating that the USB is not recognized again, even after the sound chimes. Sorry for being a lazy noob, and I really think this website is the bomb, but am I missing something so that when I reinsert the USB, it doesnt recognize it again in active synch (which I think is the root of my evils, right now)? Point me to a link, oh learned ones.

1. Done
2. Done
3. Done
4. Ok
5. Ok

Nothing will flash after getting to the above point. Now maybe I am way out in left field here but can it be because my original ROM is a 1.81.xxx version? I can take any 1.81 version out there and flash it fine but I can't get this or the HardSPL to load no matter what I do, same thing every time.. gets to the last screen before the flash is set to start and gives a connection time out error.

Thoughts? Anybody?

Was a white screener...went the JumpSPL route...

Locate, run from Kaiser, tri screen with USB and grey Sync...

Remove USB, plug back in...soft rest with camera, power, and stylus, but still showingL

Kais1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8

Unable to install any ROM's after this...they sit at 0%...not matter what RUU or version of Dutty's I'm trying...

Sorry for the noob questions, but this is frustrating. I want to start hooking this bad boy up and playing with it...

Any and all help would be appreciated...requistp, it looks like you made it to the next step...how'd you do it, anyone?

Greetings...and thanks for all the hard work.

As a preliminary: I am a stone-cold neophyte at this, so forgive my dumb questions in advance!

I held off reflashing my at&t tilt until the 1.57 issue was solved with HardSPL. Yesterday, I tried to flash my first cooked ROM. Installed HardSPL, worked fine. Then tried to flash dutty's new years rom (2k8 fixed), the device rebooted and displayed progress bar. After reaching 100%, the device rebooted again, but hung at the AT&T splash screen. Radio/Display drivers show up, but the damn thing just sits there displaying the logo.

Tried taking out the battery, soft resetting, and nothing. I can still access the bootloader, which looks proper:

KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8

And I can access the device on MTTY. Oddly, though, when I run Info 0 / Info 2 commands, I get jibberish rather than complete numbers:

Cmd>info 0
Platform Model ID:KAIS1*000
Platform HW Board ID:31, PVT1

Cmd>info 2
HTCS00000000jR*¥HTCE
Cmd>

I have tried flashing other roms, too...to no avail. It always progresses to 100%, reboots, and sits at the logo screen.

Please tell me i have not bricked my device!!! Please please please!!

Thanks much in advance for all the help.

Well, you have got HardSPL installed so you can flash any other ROM.

I've actually tried many different roms - dutty's lite no7, his 2k8, the att stock (cingular WWE)...nothing. same hang on the splash screen.

I can still get into the bootloader, but can't get beyond the splash.

I've tried turning off my AV/firewall when loading RUU. still nothing.

p.s. you are the man.

Hello All,

My Tilt is the first device I have tried any flashing - or any modifying for that matter - on and of course I got the WSOD while running hard spl. Fortunately, I found this thread before hand so I did not panic...much.

This workaround worked like a champ!

So, for my first post I would like to say, "Thanks so much for the work you put into this".

1- download the 3 attached files
2- REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3- copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it
4- after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
5- unplug and replug the usb cable
6- if you want to see if this works you can flash a Splash screen by running KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-splash.zip on your PC
7- if you want to flash a hardSPL then run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC

OK, here we go..
Last week I bought the AT&T Tilt.
I preferred it instead to buy an iPhone and I'm very very very happy of my choice!!!!
A matter of seconds and I was here trying to flashing something.

I was getting the white screen too and tried the method of this Thread and succeed BUT I followed from 1 to 5.
Then I 've flashed straightly the Dutty's v3.

OK!!!! till here everything goes smootly and I'm using my Tilt with the Dutty's v3 without any problem.

The problems arise just today (this morning) when I tried to flash JUST a splash screen. NO WAY.
The process remains to 0% and that's it.

After removing/reinserting the battery and then restarting the Tilt, It restart without any problem just as it has been before this try out.

So.. curious I tried to flashing other stuff.. and NO WAY.

Always the process of flashing ANYTHING (not only splashes screen but also other ROMs) remain to 0%.

What's happening to my Tilt?
I'd have the wish to just flash a new Spash screen, but I noticed I cannot flash NOTHING at all, no more.

When in tricolor mode I have:

KAIS 1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8

The actual other versions of the remaing infos are in my Sign.

Oh.. I wanna add that I also tried to flash the hardSPL (kaiser-HardSPLv1) and nothing done.
How can I escape from this situation?
Someone can help me?

PS:
BTW as we speak my Tilt works perfectly.

But....

OK. No responses.. :(

My Tilt, as we speak, works without any problem.. and it has the Dutty's DualTouch v3.

But I cannot flash anything else.. neither a simple splash screen.. nothing at all.

Then let's change the question..

In bootloader mode when in tricolor I read:

KAIS 1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8

I've tried to flash the kaiser-HardSPLv1 but the process remains at 0%.

I tried also different methods to flash the hardSPLv1 (by OliPof) but my Tilt does not flash anything.

How can I resolve this "problem"?

gr@z!
19th January 2008, 12:46 AM
ok..
I continue explaining my case.

As unpacked my Tilt was with this original rom:
1.57.502.2 (radio 1.27.12.11) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329506)

And the reason because I wrote in my sign the hardware code 181007(RC01)/US , it's because, as I read, is "infamous" for the white screen problem.
For this reason I used the jumpSPL method in that post. But reading between the lines, who tried that method should have in tricolor boot SPL-1.56.Jump and not SPL-1.56.0000. Instead, flashing the regular hardSPL should be SPL-1.0.OliPof.

In my opinion I cannot flash splash screens and anything else because my SPL is "not exacly perfect".
By the way.. here the Tilt works perfectly and today I installed Tom Tom 6 too and works!

I read that other people have my same issue trying to flashing something and having the process blocked to 0% with no result.
The difference between me and them is that I was ok flashing the Dutty's v3 Rom.

I'm curious about I cannot flash anymore... just because...
and IF I WANNA FLASH the next Dutty release? :/
Am I obbliged to remain with this ROM lifetime? LOL

For this reason I wanna flash the regular hardSPL just like any other person in here ( SPL-1.0.OliPof )

What I can do to flash the hardSPLv1 with this my problem?

I read so many thread in the forum and I noticed how many different cases stories there are :/

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

EDIT:
Oh.. I have to add these other infos of my Tilt I actually have (after dutty's DC v3):

at startup in the first splash it visualize:

R: 1.27.12.11
G: 22.45.88.07H
D: 1.66.00.00

Wow, this sucks really bad. I was really looking forward to having a regulr Kaiser home screen and custom splash but now i'm stuck with this "NOT FOR SALE TEST ONLY" splash after doing the jump spl and then doing the "test" flash. Now whenever I try to flash a ROM or splashscreen I get the Error [262] message and have to pop out my battery. I always get stuck at 0% when trying to flash anything. I can't even go back to the way it was before. This really sucks. :(

It died the first time and did nothing after i re-connected the USB, and gave me option to recover the device, which i followed and tried it again and voila, I see those magic pof alphabets in my bootloader.

Now cant wait for Dutty to release the v4 tonight/tomorrow :-)

tried this on my Tilt. Seemed to load ok on the phone, but then phone locked up, remaining on the tri-color screen. Had to reset by removing battery. Tried loading HardSPL, figuring JumpSPL loaded ok. To no avail....errors popped up indicating prun.exe and another executable file was not available to run internally or externally. - if you want to flash a hardSPL then run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC

Tried Everything, and followed directions EXACTLY.

Finally managed to get to the bootloader by using JumpSPL1.56-4.exe (and also holding down Camera key while booting).

Unplugging the USb cable then re-plugging causes activesync to lose a connection (obviously).

So now I'm stuck at the tri-band bootloader screen, and the KaiserCustomRUU.exe fails with a 260 Connection error (since it cannot "verify information on the PDA") obviously since we unplugged the USb cable.

I've had the best luck with rebooting to the bootloader BUT NOT unplugging the USb cable. Once I run the KaiserCustomRUU.exe however, it loses the activesync connection.

HELP! I need to flash hardSPL (so I can SIM unlock). This is one of the steps necessary (hard-SPLing) in order to flash an updated radio rom.

Same problem...

I've flashed two other Tilts with the factory HTC ROM without issue... Bought a third Tilt today (24 Jan 08) and originally got the White Screen. Stuck JumpSPL on the phone, ran it, restarted to the Tri Color Screen with 'USB' displayed at the bottom. Just call me Murphy.

Tilt 1 died due to a RLoD. Tilt 2 wouldn't make/receive calls. Tilt 3 had a loose USB port. Tilt 4 had cosmetic damage. Tilt 5 was the magical "no lemon policy" NEW phone.

Hungry for Dutty's newest ROM, I quickly HardSPLed to a ... white screen! Luckily I frequent the forum and remembered this sticky. Not even sure what was wrong with my phone, and not even sure I care.

Your thread fixed my problem easy as can be.

Thank you!!!

Hi there,

I just bought a new TyTNII yesterday, tried to HardSPL using Kaiser Hard-SPL v1 but stuck at white screen. So I tried the steps suggested by jockyw2001. Running JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe, I got USB on the display. Everything seems fine until this step. But then, when I unplug the USB cable (ActiveSync grey), and replug again, I cannot establish Activesync anymore. Tried 5 times, same result. I am running Vista Ultimate.

Any help people?

1. After you run JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe, you will get the Rainbow screen on your device with "USB" appears on it
2. Unplug and replug. IMPORTANT: The activeSync will not establish. So what you need to do is to make sure the USB is connected. How? Open your PC/Laptop's Windows Device Manager. In Vista, you should find "Mobile Device" in the device list. In XP, if not mistaken, you should get something like "Windows Mobile". This shows that USB connection to your Kaiser is working (although ActiveSync not sync).
3. Run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC, then follow instructions. Your Kaiser will reboot after this completed.
4. Just to make sure things are all okay, hold power+camera+reset and check the BootLoader screen, if successful you should see "SPL-1.0.OliPof" in the second line. Soft reset.

If HardSPL is not installed you must flash an official RUU which matches your Vario3 CID and ModelID:
CID=T-MOB012
ModelID=KAIS13000

As there are many who suffer from this problem I am tempted to find a solution, but since HardSPL is not installed there is only some task commands to play with so there is not much hope. You better start trying to find the RUU.

That will not help you, because dumped and reconstructed ROMs are unsigned and can only be flashed with HardSPL.
You need an original full RUU.

If it's of any assistance in trying to find a solution to this problem of failing to install HardSPL then I have noticed the following:

Having got to the update page in the RUU programme prior to HardSPL being flashed the RUU fails to recognise my Orange SPL of 1.81 etc and the current image details section of the page is blank.

When I try the same procedure with the RUU to flash the original Orange ROM it recognises the current version and displays the full details on the relevant page.

Could it be possible that the Orange ROM has some protection inbuilt which is preventing the HardSPL being flashed? I've seen a post elsewhere which suggests that it is NOT possible to flash HardSPL onto the Orange 1.81 etc phone.

Any comments?

Hi people,
Ok, after crushing my screen, (was running Dutty's Dualtouch 2k8) I got my new Kaiser today. Normal SPL, no chance, WSD. Tried the 2nd method at the top of this forum 'Solved', still no joy. I absolutely can NOT get past the tri-colour. I unplug / replug, but no activesync, and more importasntly no "Windows Mobile" usb connection. The connection sounds play, but I can't connect at all from the tri-colour screen. Reset and all is fine (except SH&%ty orange boring ass crippled rom...)

Please help...
Versions:
Operator Version 24.181.1.612
Rom Version 1.81.61.2 WWE
ROM Date 20/9/07
etc etc..

from Tri-colour :
KAIS130
SPL-1.56.Jump
CPLD-8

Not sure which is relevant here, 'scuse the noob ;)

Has anyone solved this?
(and yes I have checked the WIKI and searched :)

Hi, thanks for your input. I'm running XP (got vista on dualboot but use xp for flashing etc)
This setup worked perfectly using the first post in this thread, got Dutty on my Kaiser no probs, but now I have the replacement, I just can't get it to connect after unplug/replug. I suspect its the orange rom version, but thats from last september? I just dont fecking get it..

You could try UN-tick - Allow USB Connection in activesync & also try disabling automatic startup of activesync upon device connect..

Hi all.

Sorry to clutter this thread with what may be another noob question, but I've searched the boards for quite some time now and haven't come across this.

Using the instructions provided in this thread and its parent, I'm able to get as far as running KaiserCustomRUU.exe. I proceed through the first prompt or two, at which point the utility scans my device:

http://i32.tinypic.com/1iikvd.jpg

After a minute or two, the app seems to recognize my device-- it does not throw any exception and takes me to the next prompt. However, the next prompt displays no info relevant to my handset:

http://i29.tinypic.com/o9lh1l.jpg

Is this typical behavior for KaiserCustomRUU, or is this a red flag? Was wary of proceeding with the update given the null display. My apologies if this has been answered previously.

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks!

For a variety of reasons, I'm finally on my 3rd ATT Tilt.

I tried the original HardSPL, and got the white screen. Found this thread, tried the JumpSPL on the first post (Yes, I removed my SIM/SD cards + kept it connected while I ran it on the phone) and I still got a white screen.

At the white screen, I'm able to simply soft-reset, and back to ATT Windows Mobile.

Any Ideas? I really wanna load Dutty's new ROM and it sucks because it looks like I can't. I've read through alot of posts and can find no info as to why my particular tilt cannot run either (hardSPL, or white-screen JumpSPL) and only get white screens.

I have:
ROM: 1.57.502.2
ROM DATE: 08/25/07
Radio version: 1.27.12.11
Protocol Version: 22.45.8807H

This is typical. See pic. Make sure before you proceed that it says hardspl or like before you do a rom flash. Once you do hardspl you do not need to do it again. Also the KaiserCustomRUU is the "vessel" for flashing, the actual flash is a .nbh and will be shown once you click THAT button. BTW this was the hardest step that I have experienced so far. The next time you want to flash ensure activsync is connected green, open jumpSPL from phone, disconnect usb and reconnect, run the ruu and you are done. I have been told that it is wise to do a hard reset after you flash a rom when it gets to the screen alignment (somehow washes away all ghosts from prior ROM).

RedToyol -

Thank you for clairfying. According to JockyW, a hard reset should be performed before doing the JumpSPL. I was able to get the multi coloured screen and use flashHardSPL.

Is the Flash HardSPL identical to the original HardSPL? Am I safe to start loading ROMs? When I enter bootloader, I get "SPL-1.0.OliPof".

Thanks.

I copied the JumpSPL file to my AT&T Tilt phone (8925) and then executed the program and got the tri-color display. Connected the USB cable and then ran the KaiserCustomRUU to start flashing the device. It went upto 95% mark and then it gave the error 262 and asked me to go thru the recovery process. I have been thru that process many times now, but it keeps coming back to the tri-color screen every time I reconnect the battery and power the device up.

Please suggest what I should do to recover from this.

I read thru many threads on how to unlock the SIM and also noted that installing HardSPL is necessary to avoid bricking the phone. So, I went to the thread where the solution to the error 262 (white screen) is provided. I downloaded the files from the 1st post in that thread and then copied the JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to the phone and then executed it. It got me the tri-color screen (Is this called bootloader?) and then I executed the KaiserCustomRUU.exe from the flash-HardSPL.zip thinking that this will put in the HardSPL into the ROM. The progress bar went upto 95% and then it exited with error and after that the "Recovery" option of the loader hasn't been able to revive the phone. Every time, I put the battery back in and power it up, I get the tri-color screen with the following message:

RUUNBH (on the top right hand side of the screen)
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8

Please guide me with what I should do next to recover. I have ten different threads open here in my browser and I am trying to understand the stuff, but I am not able to understand what I should do next. I remember my original Radio was 1.27.12.11 (I saw this message when the phone used to boot up) and it is a 3 day old phone from AT&T here in California.

I recently replaced my 2 year old Cingular 8125 which I had unlocked myself following this forum 2 years back. But, this time I must have done something incredibly stupid. Appreciate any help.

That's right, you should have flashed HardSPL first.

To resolve your issue try this:
- in activesync uncheck "allow USB connections"
- connect to your phone with MTTY
- press return twice until you see "Cmd>"
- type "boot"
- wait until the device restarts and exit MTTY
- if it enters the bootloader screen again try the previous 2 steps again

It looks like the splash screen can not be found. It (splash.nbh) should be in the same directory as the update utility (KaiserCustomRUU.exe)

I have a Tilt and I had to do things a different way, But could not do it at all if not for the help I received here, thanks to jockyw2001. I copied the jumpSPL1 to my phone and then ran the Kaiser Hard SPLv1 when it got to the point where it said you should be in boot loader mode "Tri colored screen" I wasen't if I pressed enter you know "White Screen" so I repeated the steps in Hard SPL but after the first step before I hit enter to continue I ran the file I copied to the phone "JumpSPL" then the tilt went into bootloader mode "Tri colored " then I went back to the desktop and hit enter ,unplug and replug and I was off. So I had to do it a tad different but it worked fine and I have flashed Schaps 4.31 and I might try Vega but I am used to Schaps I have always used his stuff on my 8525 so I really trust his work. Again thanks for your help. could not have done it with out you.

After JumpSPL and Tricolour Screen: what did you do exactly. Because if you only went back to desktop, and hit the enter, nothing would happen as it is trilolour screen and you need to authorize Hardspl to run on Kaiser, but you can not see a thing so you can not run Hardspl, can you?!!

Bdsides, after jumspl, you lost USB connection so Hardspl can not be transfer to the Kaiser anyway. I know you did it but I am confused??

I follow the procedure and after I run KaiserCurstomRUU.exe from flash-splash.zip, I Tilt got stuck at 0% white screen. Util on PC show connection problem. Help!...

Hi, guys im new here and im having terrible trouble installing this HardSPL on my phone. The instrucitons arent detailed enough for me. Like I dont get how you copie the JumpSPl files onto my phone. Like where do i put it and how to i find it on my phone? I simply removed my MicroSD and SIM card from my tilt and synced it up to the PC. I download the files and I look up my device under My computer. I then unzip and drag the JUMPSPL.exe file into my device and now im stuck. Where do I go on my phoen to find the exe file and start it?

You should get to know your phone a little better before trying this, but I'll help anyway.

To run the exe, use File Explorer on the phone to browse to "My Documents" on the Phone, then click it to run JumpSPL.

hi all,
about the tri-color screen stuck issue, i am curious to know if everybody else who is having this problem uses Vista.
i found out that when i reconnect the usb cable, Vista doesn't recognize it as the same device as before (in my case it showed "unknown device").
so, the usb driver installed before doenst work anymore, that why the update Rom software cant connect to the phone. (message 240 or 0% at update screen).
when i try to update the usb driver from the device manager it says that the Vista RUU driver doesnt work with my 32 bit system and it doesnt let me to update the driver.

we could try to install another driver for the usb tri-color screen before changing it to the Vista RUU (Xp sync driver that makes vista work with updating roms).
anybody has it?
lets try to make this work pls.

Hey guys, I'm a brand new user to the forum and have been reading to look for instructions to unlock my att tilt. I got it abt 3 days ago and flashed the latest rom (version 1.62.502.0) update from att. I tried all the steps to unlock the sim or load hardspl to no avail.
Working step 1 of these instructions and saw the tri-color screen then
The screen becomes white with a progress and stay at 0%
Active sync becomes disconnected
That white screen never goes away and on the PC i see [Error 262] and it gives me steps to recover.
I am running XP Pro SP2
Rom vers 1.62
Radio vers 1.27
I tried this flashing both sspl 1.56 and 1.16 to no avail. Any help appreciated
A hard reset did not help either

Hey Guys..

I have unlocked HTC Kaiser Locked to Orange UK two weeks ago but now i am having a problem. After doing HardSpl..i can see "SPL-1.0 OliPof" if i put my phone into bootloader mode. Now the problem is whenever i want to run KaiserCustomRUU, which is step 1 of sim unlocking the phone, i get the messege before actual installation starts..""Kaiser-simunlocker/step1/kaiser-radio-patched.nbh" i guess the last file is the file patched from the software. When i press ok, It give me a message of "ERROR[238]: FILE READ" "The update utility can not open the requested file. Please Check your Update Utility" I dont know what to do now. I have even took the battery off for like 5 times..restarted my phone so many times. and even tried to do flash_hardspl (One i have explained above) so many times. But i am unable to find the solution. Please help me in this regard.

I know there are some geniuses monitoring this forum. Please help me guide me with the detailed procedure.

Thanks for the previous help.

One very minor but critical detail not listed was the source of all my problems. I found it by reading thru about 9-10 pages of this thread. here it goes:
- download the 3 attached files
- REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
- copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it
- after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
- unplug and replug the usb cable
- if you want to see if this works you can flash a Splash screen by running KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-splash.zip on your PC
you must run the jumpspl again on the htc/tilt before flashing hardspl for it to work. This is what solved my issues
- if you want to flash a hardSPL then run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL
Perhaps, the OP can add this to the original instructions.

1. power down your Tilt and remove sd card and sim card
2. connect Tilt to laptop via USB cable.
1. open "Mobile Device" folder via "Explore" button on ActiveSync.
2. copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to the directory that it opens up to. Mine says "Mobile Device". That will be your "My Documents" directory on your Tilt.
3. use file explorer on Tilt to navigate to "My Documents" directory. Keep hitting "up" till you cant go any farther. The directory should be there.
4. Open "My Documents" and run JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
6. unplug and replug the usb cable.
7. run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from the flash-hardSPL directory on your laptop. Tilt will reset.
8. flash rom.

hope this helps...

how do you do that because the activesync disconnects after u unplug the usb so when u go to hardspl flash it it says u must have an activesync connection..so then how do u get it back once its on the tricolor screen because unplugging and replugging shows no diff on it

jorfee

I tried these steps. I got to the tricolor screen. It says KAIS1*0 , SPL-1.56.Jump , CPLD-8 and USB at the bottom.

Mine keeps disconnecting with the activesync then after a min i get an error message during the kaisercustomruu rom update and it never makes it past 0%

*sigh.. young gun, back in my day we had to run everything ourselves, it wasn't put in a neat little package that did everything for us.

After you get into the tircolored screen and plug your USB back in, you have extract and run hard spl (using the file on the first page of this thread).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=63026&d=1198513037

That one to be exact.

Two questions:
1- I already did the CID unlock process. Does it mean I already flashed hard spl and don't need to do this?
2- Just to play safe, I tried to perform these steps. Got the tri-color screen, unplugged and plugged the USB cable. However, after plugging it back, the ActiveSyc icon stays grey and hard spl requires it to be green to run. I did a soft reset, rebooted the PC, but got the same results. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Never mind: I decided to try flash the ROM, and it worked. It seems that everything was ready.

Hi,

I am having a problem installing the Hard SPL for my Tytn II device which i purchased last week. I Downloaded all the HARD SPL's from this Thread and and tried wothout and success. The screen always gets stuck after the tri-color screen and then into 0%. I have been doing ROM updates for my HTC Universal device.

Details of my device are as follows:

Bootloader:

KAIS130
SPL-1.93.0000
CPLD-8
--------------------
ROM Details:

ROM Versions : 1.56.405.5
ROM Date : 08/28/07
RADIO Version : 1.27.12.32
Protocol Version : 22.45.88.07H

-----------------------------

Unit Production Date : 181007(RC01) / EU

Please if anyone has a solution to this.

-Red-

Edit: Solution

Soft reset.

So does this work? I thought KaiserCustomRUU.exe updated the ROM. Isnt the point of this thread that people cant install HardSPL.

Ok Im really struggling here... Yes yes I am a n00b so dont go nuts at me as im just trying to get my head around all of this.

First I tried to run the HardSPL. - No luck. As with a lot of people I got the white screen. I searched the forums and found jockyw2001's white screen patch.

Again, the JumpSPL1.56-KAIS patch didnt work. So I tried his new JumpSPL1.93-KAIS patch.

I bluetoothed it to my Tytn, removed the sim & SD card, connected it to the USB then ran the program...
It did do what was said - Went straight to the the tri-color screen, 'USB' appeared. I removed the USB then plugged it back in.

Right, what do I do now?

I have read the bulk of the pages on various posts but I just cant get my head around it. Plus I dont want to go at it half cocked and screw up my phone.

PLEASE HELP! :o

After running JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe, I get the tri Color screen.
-I then dissconnect then reconnect the USB.
-My comp finds the new device etc

Now, do I run 'KaiserCustomRUU' or the Original HardSPL to actually install HardSPL?

(for the record, I began running KaiserCustomRUU; it says to establish an ActiveSync connection. But nothing seems to happen even though the USB is still plugged in.)

ecolive,
What do you mean by power up by pressing the camera button?

Before you load JumpSPL, ActiveSync should be connected (green). After loading JumpSPL you should get a tri-colored screen with a white bar, followed shortly by it saying USB on the white bar. Once you disconnect and reconnect the USB cable your ActiveSync should turn and stay disconnected (grey). You can from that point see if everything is working by installing flash-splash.

JumpSPL is used to load HardSPL so you can load multiple ROMs without problems. It is a CID Unlocker not a SIM Unlocker.

Try this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361039) thread for info on SIM Unlocking, and this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369282) thread for all info for well...everything else.

Hope this helps.

For those who cannot install the HardSPL and don't wonna read this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349476), here is the solution:

1. download the 5 attached files
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it (make sure the USB cable is still disconnected). If you still get a white screen then reset your device and now try JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe
4. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the phone display
5. unplug and replug the usb cable
6. if you just want to see if this works you can flash a Splash screen by running KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-splash.zip on your PC, but you can safely omit that and continue with step 7.
7. if you want to flash a hardSPL then run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC

Notes:
1. if when running a JumpSPL an error is shown try to application unlock your device first with SDA_ApplicationUnlock (you must run this on PC with an activesync connection via USB cable). If you still get errors you need to hard reset your device (power off, keep both left and right navigation keys pressed and power on)
2. With the JumpSPL you should *not* flash radio roms, OS roms or full roms. The JumpSPL is only needed to flash a SPL or HardSPL

if we should *not* flash roms then what *should* we flash with it? i flashed HardSPL now what? honestly, i know im getting free advice and free software here and trust me i am appreciative, but if it were explained completely the first time none of us would have questions

this is what i did....
with sim card removed
1. copied Jump SPL1.56 onto my tilt
2. ran jumpspl1.56 on my tilt
3. got tri-color screen

if we should *not* flash roms then what *should* we flash with it? i flashed HardSPL now what? honestly, i know im getting free advice and free software here and trust me i am appreciative, but if it were explained completely the first time none of us would have questions

this is what i did....
with sim card removed
1. copied Jump SPL1.56 onto my tilt
2. ran jumpspl1.56 on my tilt
3. got tri-color screen
4. unplugged usb, replugged usb

after you run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip (flashing the rom) then you can run whichever radio rom or os rom or whatever just by turning the device on and syncing it and running the .exe associated with the rom, there is no need to run anything else after you flash hard spl

3. copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it (make sure the USB cable is still disconnected). If you still get a white screen then reset your device and now try JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe
4. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the phone display
5. unplug and replug the usb cable

make sure the USB cable is still disconnected ???? so how then i can unplug cabel which is not pluged ? and "USB" never appers when no USB connected, or i something miss ?

When you unplug your device activesync will not show reconnect (green circle) and this is what you want (something to do with drivers I think). At this point you need to CID unlock your device if you want to flash cooked ROM's by running hardSPL (using the method below). After you run hardSPL you can flash any rom or radio you want. Also note that you only need to run hardSPL only 1 (one) time and your device will remain CID unlocked. It is tricky at first but once you keep reading and searching you will find that all the answers are out there.

Also note that when you go to flash a different ROM or radio (or hardSPL) you need to:
1. aquire activesync connection with your computer
2. run jumpSPL from your device
3. wait for usb to display then unplug usb and reconnect
4. then from your computer run the KaiserCustomRUU and follow the onscreen directions (i.e. on my computer hardSPL is in it's own folder and in that folder are 2 files: kaiser_hardSPL_1.0.nbh and KaiserCustomRUU)
5. You are now hooked on flashing like the rest of us... (make sure you read before posting, not only will you not piss off some members but you will learn soooo much more than having someone give you the answer!!!):)

If I messed this up let me know and I will delete it but this is what I do and I hope it works for you too.

i can do the jump part....but the hardspl wont work!!!! i stays at 0% and then shows like update error!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELPP
For those who cannot install the HardSPL and don't wonna read this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349476), here is the solution:

1a. download the 5 attached files
1b. connect your PC to phone with a USB cable
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. copy JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe to your device and run it (make sure the USB cable is still connected). If you still get a white screen then reset your device and now try JumpSPL1.93-KAIS.exe
4. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the phone display
5. unplug and replug the usb cable
6. if you just want to see if this works you can flash a Splash screen by running KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-splash.zip on your PC, but you can safely omit that and continue with step 7.
7. if you want to flash a hardSPL then run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip on your PC

Notes:
1. if when running a JumpSPL an error is shown try to application unlock your device first with SDA_ApplicationUnlock (you must run this on PC with an activesync connection via USB cable). If you still get errors you need to hard reset your device (power off, keep both left and right navigation keys pressed and power on)
2. With the JumpSPL you should *not* flash radio roms, OS roms or full roms. The JumpSPL is only needed to flash a SPL or HardSPL

It's the same with me.

I currently have Image version 1.61.502.2 AT&T installed. I was able to installed it from Image 1.57 or something.
The phone is AT&T Tilt. I really don't like the way how AT&T seriously damaged the Microsoft Windows Mobile OS which is why I'd like to install the original HTC TyTN II Windows OS.
I'm using Windows XP for my desktop computer.

I did several tries in the last few days using different methods I found at these forums, but I always get ERROR [262] UPDATE ERROR.

My last try was:

1. Performed Hard Reset
2. Started kaiser-HardSPL.exe
Doesn't work. I only get white screen and that's it. I have to soft reset the device to make it work again

Then I followed this procedure:
HardSPL will not install - WHITE SCREEN: SOLVED (UPDATE 01. March 2008)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061&highlight=cid+white+screen

1. Took the SIM card out of the phone. I currently don't have a SD card at this phone.
2. Started JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe
3. Got 3 colors + white on a device. After a few seconds it wrote USB. Activesync is grey now.
4. Unpluged the usb cable - ActiveSync became gray. Repluged the usb cable. Nothing happened. Still have the three colors. Activesync is still grey. I also tried JumpSPL1.93, same steps and it's all the same.
5. Softreset
6. Run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip
7. Go through procedure, accepted everything.
8. Got 3 colors + white on a device. After a few seconds it wrote USB. ActiveSync dissapeared on my Desktop PC. Not that it's grey. It dissapeared.
9. Got a grey screen with progressbar on top. It didn't move from 0% for a long time. Probably several minutes.
10. RUU informed showed a message: ERROR [262] UPDATE ERROR. The RUU has encountered communication errors during the update process. The Program will guide you...

I had to pull out the battery so the phone started again.

Hey Jocky!!! Made some serious progress helping a noobie with the 1.93 last night.

This is for those that get the 202 or 260 errors. DEVICE STAYS IN TRI-COLOR
Heres what you do:

Follow the instructions as set forth in the original post for the 1.93. The HardSPL portion of the flash WILL FAIL with either a 202 or 260 error. When it does fail, DO NOT RESET YOUR DEVICE! Go thru the recovery screens to get the flash RUU to close, but DO NOT TAKE OUT YOUR BATTERY & DO NOT RESET YOUR DEVICE. Instead, Leave it in JumpSPL BL mode, close the KaiserCustom.RUU, Unplug your device, then reattach it. As sonn as it's reattached launch the KaiserCustom.RUU again a second time.

This time it will work! ;)

For others that get stuck at grey screen @ 0%
I found that the SDA Unlock was not working on many devices. I had a noobie install the KaiserTweak prior to following the instructions & using it to App Unlock the device.

Try that before flashing the hardspl.

Question A
Would you please tell me where to get this KaiserTweak? I was seraching for it on this forum and I got several results that have nothing with ROM updating.

Question B
Should I start with the following procedure?
1. JumpSPL
2. KaiserTweak
3. SDA_ApplicationUnlock
4. Run KaiserCustomRUU.exe from flash-hardSPL.zip

You think this is the right procedure or I mixed something?

Question C
Is it correct if the JumpSPL stuck at tri color + USB and I have to softreset the device?

I found a solution at the other thread.

I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375583

Run KaiserUnlocker.exe

1. I started with the Step 1. The upper button of total 3.
2. Go through the menus and accept everything.
3. You get TRI-COLOR screen on your device and a few seconds later you get the USB label.
4. After some time you get a communication error Message. DON'T RESET YOUR MOBILE DEVICE. DON'T TOUCH IT.
5. Press Exit to quit KaiserUnlocker.exe on your Desktop machine.
6. Unplug and replug the USB cable.
7. Start the KaiserUnlocker.exe again and wait a little bit.
8. Your mobile device (AT&T Tilt) suddenly alive again. The progressbar shows up and you're from 0% to 100% in a few seconds. Wait a little bit and then you get the message the process is finished.

Now I don't know what to do with step 2 and 3. Should I perform them or not. Hmm.

What gives?

I've just recently purchase my new HTC Kaiser and I would like to flash Dutty's Rom on it. I've tried following the reflash instructions that I found on the wiki page and having some issues. First I tried using the HardSPL, but I was getting a white screen. So then I load JumpSPL 1.56 on my phone and executed it. The screen goes to the multi color screen and states usb. I then unplug and replug the usb cord back into the phone. Activesync stays greyed out and then I launch KaiserCustomRUU from the flash-hardSPL folder. I go through the gui and receive error 260 connection error. I've tried this several time and now. I would really appreciate any help that I could get. Not sure if I'm missing a step.

Thanks in Advance,

I tried this, but you cannot copy or do anything once you take the sd card and sim cards out, you see screen that says emergency calls only, then how can you run the program from the phone?i'm a bit lost here, i've been trying to install hardspl for hours and wasted all day and still nothing ...... yesterday i copied the new htc rom from there website and didn't have any problem, but this time when i was going to upgrade to another rom XTRM_1.0-6.1X_WWE_TILT it says make sure to install hardspl before this rom ...... can i not install this rom straight instead of installing hardspl?

I have Completed all of the steps, I got the tri color screen and I got the usb, I unpluged and plug back in and the activesynce icon turn Gray, I then disable usb conections and flash HarsSLP and everything went ok until I got to the gray screen and it is stuck on 0% in the progress bar. So this is where I am stuck so any work around for this? I also treid the 193 and get to Tri color screen but no USB it stick there.
So please Help I want this ulgly orange software off of my TyTN 2!!!
