[Guide] Customize S2U2 Battery Animation, Slider Button, Animation & Curtain

Customize S2U2 "Slide to Unlock" text Animation

Change S2U2 Battery Animation

Here I will tell you guys how to customize the "slide to unlock" text animation.

1. The Animation file is in \Program Files\S2U2\gfx Folder named "slideanis.png"
2. It is made up of several slides of images of size 112x12 pixels(IMPORTANT), each placed right next to the other.
3. Its like the GIF animation but the images here are placed in a single image.
4. The resulatant file can be of any width but a multiple of 112, the Height should only be 12pixels.
4. You can also make customized animations like I did.

Creating animations using only Paint & Irfanview

Designing Frames:
==============
1. Open Paint.
2. Goto Image --> Attributes(Ctrl+E)
3. Set Width to 112 & Height to 12(If values are altered thing will go hazy). Choose the pixels combobox in 'Units' group.
4. You will get a 112x12 pixels white page.
5. Zoom in it to make designing easy.
6. Design a frame to be used in the animation.
7. Save it in BMP Format. I recommend using any naming convention. If Saved in other formats quality will be decreased.
8. Got the first frame, now create each & every frame to be used repeating the steps.
9. Save all of them in BMP format.

Of course: Instead of designing frames u can use any image just resize them.

Designing Animation:
===============
1. Open IrfanView.
2. Goto Image --> Create Panorama Image.
3. Choose Horizontal in the 'Directions' group.
4. Click 'Add images' & Choose all the frames u wish to use.
5. Adjust them 'Up', 'Down' as you want them in the animation. Top frame comes first & Bottom frame comes last.
6. Uncheck 'Insert file name into image'.
6. Click Ceate Image.
7. Save it in PNG format.

PS: Animations play really fast if only one unique frame is used once, In the Loading animation I got 12 frames, each frame was used 3 times repeatedly, to make it slow. i.e each frame was added 3 times.

Use Them:
========
1. I recommend to backup the \Program Files\S2U2\gfx folder.
2. Rename the saved PNG to 'slideanis.png'
3. Copy it to the \gfx folder.
4. Run iLock2 to stop S2U2.
5. Run iLock2 to rerun it.

That's it, Design your own animations & Share them here.

3. The first image is used when Slide to unlock & second image is used when Slide to Answer.

4. Design button u want to use for slide to unlock.
5. When Done, save it in BMP format.

Customizing the Curtains
===========================

Here how to customize the S2U2 curtains i.e Both Top & Bottom.

The files used for both curtains is topbar.png in the \Program FIles\S2U2\gfx\ folder.

To remove the curtains just delete the files topbar.png. PS: This will remove both the curatins.

1. Make any image of height 68 pixels, You can set any width. Note:- The width of PPC screen is 240 pixels. If the width is smaller it will be appended.
2. Save it as topbar.png.
3. Place it in GFX folder.
4. Stop S2U2 by running iLock.exe
5. Run S2U2.

That's it.

This file will be used for both curtains, but you can turn off top curtain from S2U2 settings.

its the slide program that is used on the iphone to unlock the screen. and yes, it will resize the contact photo to a larger size if u choose fullscreen in the options. its a great program and i havent stopped using it since i found it!

After Wacky.Banana's request, I tried to have a look at customizing curtains, & I found it but couldn't post because I was on vacation, I am back home now and I have posted it in Second post.

If you delete that top and bottom bar thing, and dont want any curtains will you still be able to slide to unlock, without having the actual thing at the bottom that says slide to unlock...

I am trying to do this so that if someone grabs my phone and tries to look through it they will not know that you have to slide to unlock the phone..

Parrot, I think if you remove the slideanis.png it should do the trick.
I'd suggest to rename the slideanis.png to "slideanis1.png", to test it out in case it doesn't work and you can just rename it back. Remember to restart ilock.

I just tried it, result: ALMOST :p
The middle part (originally animated part) of the curtain becomes transparent now, showing the wallpaper......

update: oh, slide.png has a transparent rectangular box in the middle... guess if I fill it.................................... :D

Well two people in this thread kinda asked but I think they got skipped over, so i'll take a stab at asking...

Is there a way to hide the slider an all that, but make it still functionable?? Like if my girl snatches my phone and wants to be a lil "snoop dogg" lol, is there a way to make it where the phone can't be accessed with using the slide feature, just make it invisible kinda for safety and privacy purposes..?? Or if not, a way to make it where u enter a PW after u slide the arrow over..??? something along those lines anyways... Thanks in advance..

Almost but not quite...copy and move Arrows, slideanis, and slide.png files. Restart iLock2. There should be nothing at the bottom of the screen but the slide function should still work just tried it out on my tilt and it worked great...:D

very cool rom, but i need some help. i am rather new to this forum and flashing in general. i have looked thru the settings, but can't get the slide2 to work the way i would like it to.

this is whats happening.
on batt power after some time phone goes dark, then black. i have to push the power button at top of phone to activate it. when this happens, the old "unlock" button is at the bottom of screen. when i touch this, ihave to touch the new "unlock" button in the middle of the screen, then i opens the slide2.
this isn't really what i had in mind.

heres what i would like it to do. on battery power, phone goes to slide2 at 1 minute of inactivity. stays there for 5 mins and then screen gets dark (but not black) w/slide2 in background. i dont want the phone to turn black until several minutes are by (theres no need cause i'm always playing with it).

can someone please help me :rolleyes:. i really like the slide2 and i have already started creating diff bg's and buttons. i'm working on an animated thundercat theme

OK....be honest!! I tried to create my own sliders using a Doctor Who theme....the unlock screen is a logo, and the answer slider is K-9.

I WANT to have the curtain behind the date and time , NOT behind the slider. The second post tells me how to customize the curtain behind both, remove it from both, or have it behind the slider only not the date and time (through the S2U2 settings) the exact opposite of what I am trying to do.

Customize S2U2 "Slide to Unlock" text Animation

POST 2:
Customize S2U2 Slider button
Customize S2U2 Curtains

Here I will tell you guys how to customize the "slide to unlock" text animation.

1. The Animation file is in \Program Files\S2U2\gfx Folder named "slideanis.png"
2. It is made up of several slides of images of size 112x12 pixels(IMPORTANT), each placed right next to the other.
3. Its like the GIF animation but the images here are placed in a single image.
4. The resulatant file can be of any width but a multiple of 112, the Height should only be 12pixels.
4. You can also make customized animations like I did.

Creating animations using only Paint & Irfanview

Designing Frames:
==============
1. Open Paint.
2. Goto Image --> Attributes(Ctrl+E)
3. Set Width to 112 & Height to 12(If values are altered thing will go hazy). Choose the pixels combobox in 'Units' group.
4. You will get a 112x12 pixels white page.
5. Zoom in it to make designing easy.
6. Design a frame to be used in the animation.
7. Save it in BMP Format. I recommend using any naming convention. If Saved in other formats quality will be decreased.
8. Got the first frame, now create each & every frame to be used repeating the steps.
9. Save all of them in BMP format.

Of course: Instead of designing frames u can use any image just resize them.

Designing Animation:
===============
1. Open IrfanView.
2. Goto Image --> Create Panorama Image.
3. Choose Horizontal in the 'Directions' group.
4. Click 'Add images' & Choose all the frames u wish to use.
5. Adjust them 'Up', 'Down' as you want them in the animation. Top frame comes first & Bottom frame comes last.
6. Uncheck 'Insert file name into image'.
6. Click Ceate Image.
7. Save it in PNG format.

PS: Animations play really fast if only one unique frame is used once, In the Loading animation I got 12 frames, each frame was used 3 times repeatedly, to make it slow. i.e each frame was added 3 times.

Use Them:
========
1. I recommend to backup the \Program Files\S2U2\gfx folder.
2. Rename the saved PNG to 'slideanis.png'
3. Copy it to the \gfx folder.
4. Run iLock2 to stop S2U2.
5. Run iLock2 to rerun it.

That's it, Design your own animations & Share them here.

Yup got mine tweaked up from S2U2 1.01 thread and added some skillz.. I would really like a smoother transition when batteryg.png charging anime slides left to right until full charge.. It would be pimp if it could blend section by section to make it seem like the liquid, fire, etc. is actually moving..

I know there were some in the many past threads for S2U2, or even S2U. If I find any later (at home) I will post them over here, but that may be a good starting point for ya!!

EDIT: I did find a few here, I didn't create ANY of these I tried to give credit to the posters in the name, so if you use any, just change the name to notice.png

I don't think I can make it any bigger. I just took the standard battery image sizes and replaced them with an energizer battery and edited them a bit. You can put any image in there as long as it is the correct size.

S2U2 does the animating for you. It will animate the batteryg.png no matter what it is.

I use Macromedia Fireworks MX. Nothing fancy. I just copied the battery flipped it vertically, resized it a bit, and then drew a couple of semi-transparent lines to have it fade out.

If your time is displayed like 2:00 am your timeformat is hh':'mm
To display the clock correctly you have to be in 24h mode, HH':'mm

Every time I changed my wallpaper for S2U2 the rest of the things like slider, arrows dont go with it. So, I picked up Lycox S2U2 PointUI theme(Hope he doesnt mind) and made it transparent, Removed the curtains, Now it just go with every wallpaper I use.

Hi,

I notice that when the battery is low it shows a red animation when charging.

Would it be possible to amend the graphic so that the red changes to a yellow then green as the charge increases? For example maybe red from 0 to 25%, yellow from 25% to 50% then green from 50% to full charge?

looking here i guess there is no way to change from 24 hour time?when i tried to edit the registry it was not ligned up correctly.if not i'm cool with the way it is but i'd love for it to simply display a zero like say if it is 9pm 09 00.great work all the same i love the bigger weather display!!!!!!!!!!:D

Actually you can. Change HKCU\Software\A_C\S2U2\TimeFormat from h to hh.
Copy \Program Files\S2U2\gfx\clock\0.png to \Program Files\S2U2\gfx\clock\b.png. (replace clock with folder of your clock, if different)

You can also create a blank b.png of the correct dimensions to make the other numbers align but not have an actual digit for the "hours ten".

I uninstalled and reinstalled S2U2 along with deleting all the reg settings and can not get the big weather to show up and the colon is missing still. I get weather from spb mobile weather and was wondering if thats the problem with the big weather icons or not...

Hey, great work everyone. I have a question...I was wondering if there was any way to keep the default slider and default top curtain, but make them a bit more transparent like on the real iphone. I'm using a light background, and the dark slider and curtain make it look ugly. I'm aware the top curtain can be disabled, but I'd like to keep it, just up the transparency. Any way to do this? I can't get the battery animation to show. Is there a setting to enable it? I have the batteryg.png image in the gfx folder but when I plug in the charger it just stays on my wallpaper.jpg. I am using S2U2 v1.01, but it was build in the custom ROM I'm using, so everything exists in the Windows directory, including the gfx folder. I can change my wallpaper and the sliders, but not the battery. Any ideas?

Was the problem your b.png file was a lesser width than the other digit files? It's always nice to let us know what the fix was, then if some one else has that problem, they can find it with a search later.

Customize S2U2 "Slide to Unlock" text Animation

Here I will tell you guys how to customize the "slide to unlock" text animation.

1. The Animation file is in \Program Files\S2U2\gfx Folder named "slideanis.png"
2. It is made up of several slides of images of size 112x12 pixels(IMPORTANT), each placed right next to the other.
3. Its like the GIF animation but the images here are placed in a single image.
4. The resulatant file can be of any width but a multiple of 112, the Height should only be 12pixels.
4. You can also make customized animations like I did.

Creating animations using only Paint & Irfanview

Designing Frames:
==============
1. Open Paint.
2. Goto Image --> Attributes(Ctrl+E)
3. Set Width to 112 & Height to 12(If values are altered thing will go hazy). Choose the pixels combobox in 'Units' group.
4. You will get a 112x12 pixels white page.
5. Zoom in it to make designing easy.
6. Design a frame to be used in the animation.
7. Save it in BMP Format. I recommend using any naming convention. If Saved in other formats quality will be decreased.
8. Got the first frame, now create each & every frame to be used repeating the steps.
9. Save all of them in BMP format.

Of course: Instead of designing frames u can use any image just resize them.

Designing Animation:
===============
1. Open IrfanView.
2. Goto Image --> Create Panorama Image.
3. Choose Horizontal in the 'Directions' group.
4. Click 'Add images' & Choose all the frames u wish to use.
5. Adjust them 'Up', 'Down' as you want them in the animation. Top frame comes first & Bottom frame comes last.
6. Uncheck 'Insert file name into image'.
6. Click Ceate Image.
7. Save it in PNG format.

PS: Animations play really fast if only one unique frame is used once, In the Loading animation I got 12 frames, each frame was used 3 times repeatedly, to make it slow. i.e each frame was added 3 times.

Use Them:
========
1. I recommend to backup the \Program Files\S2U2\gfx folder.
2. Rename the saved PNG to 'slideanis.png'
3. Copy it to the \gfx folder.
4. Run iLock2 to stop S2U2.
5. Run iLock2 to rerun it.

That's it, Design your own animations & Share them here.

Your animation worked fine with S2U2 version 1.01 but the error message is with version 1.03.

PS is the animation suppose to continually cycle? because when it was running with S2U2 version 1.01 once it got to full, it stayed there.

Ok here goes,

I initially made a cut down version of the Tron movie (if anyone remembers this) poster. It fit pretty well with the Tron headline fitting well in the slide bar. After this I decided to replace the slider arrow with a cool photo of Hong Kong Phooey. Please feel free to use or make better either. Also the Phooey slider is great as S2U2 removes the white outer automatically so all you get is the flying kick...nice!

The original arrows.png file is both the unlock and the answer graphic side by side. So you probably just ended up with the left half of the file.
