Are there any more themes available for the Dash? My friend liked the look that was available on the stock rom but the HTC one doesn't have it.

I just received my Seido 1300mah battery (http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=768) yesterday. The beauty behind this extended battery is that it fits with the original back door cover. It is a tight fit, but it fits none the less and I must say I'm very pleased with the batteries performance thus far.
I was going to get that one, but my cover has a slat broken off in the right corner, so the cover was not as secure and this one came with a cover. I do like this 1550ma battery though:
1) Fits the T-mobile leather belt pouch
2) HTC OEM product that looks good on the unit.
3) Comes with cover that is more robust and easier to remove. The 1050ma I was using was a little tight compared to the 950ma, so I bet the 1300ma is real tight. Be careful taking it off and putting it back because the plastic breaks easily.

Who else is waiting for something better, it's a shame that over at the wing forum they got two cooks competing with each other. Over here no body want the respect.
It's sad to say that this rom is no where close to perfect but its the best we got. The Dash have been out for 2 years you'd figure that there is a "final" (perfect) rom by now. Hopefully someone can come up with a new rom that fixes all the bugs this one got.
1) Crashes/Freezes/Unstable...need I say more?
2) Memory Leak...oh yea gotta love that
3) WM 6.1 ...need a update (Office 6.1 should be in there too)
4) Letter Dialing (What were they thinking when they took this out?!)

1) Have not had these problems yet.
2) T-Mobile WM5 rom did for me too, but this does leak a little more.
3) Why do we need the 6.1 update? Also, I find Office too cumbersome on a small device anyway. Typing docs is a pain and trying to do regression on Excel mobile would probably blow the phone up.
This rom runs better for me and provides SDHC support. The 8gb I have works great and media is sweet using TCPMP 72r1.

The genious!!! yeah I'm an idiot on that one. I overlooked for the option. I really do like this ROM. Can't wait to get an 8g card for it.
Also,
Any idea how to get the HOME button to initiate Voice Command? Currently it initiates the Voice Dial. Is there a short cut like the tzone button to remap?
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who contributed.
Using a tmobile dash here. I had to use the version that has the haret.exe and it worked like a charm.
Very happy with the rom boots fast. I am waiting till I go snowboarding to make the determination on any gain on radio coverage.
2 Problems:
1) I cant get office to install because it is an upgrade (cabs didn't work either), not a big loss I cant even remember the last time i used it.
2) I followed the voice command instructions and its working however, When i push the home button on the handset down it still comes up with the old style voicetag voice command. Blue tooth gives me the new style voice command ding with the lady voice. Anyone else experience this or did I just screw it up?
3 Questions:
1) On a side note, is there any way to allow the phone to work while I am using the data. If I am surfing the web and I call myself it goes straight to voice mail.
I assume this is actually a tmobile issue.
2) Is there any way to truly lock the cell phone. I have sim lock on and i have the timeout lock on. Sim card has one password and the phone has another. However if I were to lose the phone someone could swap the sim and then perform a reset and it would be wide open Is there any way to permanently lock the phone ? (my sony ericson would lock and would not start no matter wich sim was in it unless you put in the phone password.)
I have gotten all the data plans and mms working under tmobile If anyone has questions regarding this contact me.
Thanks!!! For anyone questioning weather they should upgrade to this rom its well worth it.
3) When i ran haret.exe was that the debian linux penguin i saw (just for a second). Has anyone experimented in getting linux up? or can somone explain what that was?

If you have installed Voice Command ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1834188&postcount=154
Then it will work for bluetooth ... I hadn't noticed the home button not working until you pointed it out and you are right, the home button still triggers voice tags.
Does anybody know how to change the mapping for the home button so that, when the home screen is displayed, pressing and holding home results in running Voice Command and not Voice Tags?

Under the tmobile voice command there was a registry entry that does not exist with this rom.
it is somwhere around hklm/software/oem/ ...voice gateway or something and then vcbthag.dll
I dont see it on this rom. Does anyone else concur?
In addition it appears that the old one is running in the bg somwhere taking extra memeory.

I don't think the old one is running in memory as long as there's no shortcut in the startup folder. I just think the Home button provides a shortcut to the same thing you see in the startup folder.

Sticks out about a quarter inch, but still fits in the belt pouch that came with the Dash and looks like it was designed as OEM for the Dash. Edit: It is an OEM product from HTC.
This link shows a $10 cheaper price- that stinks for me.
Can you post a picture, if the battery is put in your device ?

Hi I have an HTC S620 before it was a s621 the ones from Rogers.
The phone is unlocked and now it mounts
Windows Mobile 6 Standard CE OS 5.2.1238 (Build 17745.0.2.3)
ROM version: 1.27.405.1
Radio Version: 4.1.13.44_02.94.90
Looking in the forums I found out about a new version RUU_Excalibur_HTC_WWE_Brightpoint_US_1.33.422.1_4. 1.13.51_03.07.90_Ship.exe
1)I would like to know if this version is NOBRAND?
2)I would like to know if it's the latest version of WM6?
3)Is it a beta ROM?
4)Is it compatible for my S620?
5)Will there be (adobe reader LE, clearvue documents - presentation - worksheet) they are under the folder office?
I read in some forums that this ROM does not have office, so I was wondering what is office, is it the files under the folder office or it's a real office word ecc. that is not present in mine either.
Last question, in forums I found out of a new update WM6 the WM6.1, but I don't understand if its standard or professional WM. Is there anything official, I don't understand, could you please indicate the latest WM for my HTC S620.
:) THANKS IN ADVANCE :)

great thread guys thanks a million for all the awesome info and work that has been done!
ive been running this ROM just over 2 weeks now and it is so much better than the latest T-Mo ROM.
comments on the install: i did everything as noted in the instructions. the only difference, i think because i ran the install from a computer running vista, was the step that says to uncheck allow USB connections in WMDC that seemed to disconnect my phone alltogether, so i left it checked and the install was a success.
anyway, a few things ive noticed that i used to use frequently that do not happen in this rom:
-holding '#' key to switch profiles (normal/vibrate)
-i cant seem to figure out how to rearrange the startmenu (based on info provided from other threads)
-i cant change the homepage in pie
any suggestions for fixes would be much appreciated!

I only know the answer to your last question. In order to change PIE home page, go to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\AboutURLs > change the data of string value 'home_0409' to whatever website you want. For example, http://www.google.com/m and yes you need to put in the http://.

sorry for 3 posts in a row...
i have tmobile, but it says "get more..." where the network is even when i manually select the tmobile network. is that a problem?
heres a little something i came across while digging through the registry trying to change some font colors...
for those looking to change the "Get More..." operator logo goto:
\hklm\system\state\phone and change the value of "current operator name" to whatever you want to appear in that spot when service is available

if anyone did this on previous ROMs and remembers you can change the background image shown when you are on a call by taking a picture of your choice at size 320x186 and renaming to the file name used as that background image then placing in the \windows folder
well i found what the needed image files are for this new ROM:
for the incall background replace the image: HTC_CallProgressBkg_320x186.bmp
for the background while recieving a call: Incoming_bg.png
i made both image files 320x240 and they worked but maybe 320x186 is a better fit, i dunno. and i believe you need to preserve the file formats (.bmp and .png) when you create your own. i made both images the same image because then it doesnt look like the picture changes from getting a call to switching after you answer it, nah mean.
anyway, theres also a file: HTC_StartMenuBkg_320x240.bmp that is the background while in the startmenu. for some reason though it doesnt fit it to 320x240 it enlarges the image to a size i havent worked on figuring out yet.
and theres others in the \windows folder as well that you can play with. i recommend backing up all the stock images incase you want to use them as template or put back on the phone.
just some cosmetics... have fun!

Explain at what point during the install your having problems.
Are you getting a vendor id problem?
Are you stuck on a certain load or boot screen?

Pretty good ROM. But I have a few things I'd like to fix:
a) Is there a homescreen EXACTLY the same as the "HTC Homescreen 1.11" but in blue? Or even installing the original home screen that T-Mobile offers (I think it was "Default Blue" or something like that)??
b) How can I switch off the beep when it displays "Message sent" during a text message?
c) When I click on Text Messages>Text/Multimedia>Menu>"1 New" - It doesn't go to a new text message and instead gives me the beep as if there is no option there. Any ideas?
d) How can I change the bottom JOGGR function not to go to Outlook email and instead to go to something else (or even blank)?
Would appreciate any help!

I just installed the new ROM. It's as fast as everyone says it is. I had the 5.99 plan working on my wm6 before, and now the problem is that the internet doesn't work after a while. It will start working once I turn the phone off and on, and then stop after a while. Is there some other setting I missed to fix this?
also, has anyone found a working oz messenger client? there are some that have been extracted from the t-mobile ROM, but they don't install with the new ROM. Thanks for all your help in advance!

I have not had the problem using an 8gb card. I have listened to well over an hour straight music, and watched a movie (1550ma) battery was a good purchase. Free memory was around 20 megs. There is a leak with this rom, that is for sure. Then again, I could say the same about the original T-Mobile WM5 rom I had prior. This may leak a little more, but I use the PKtools freeram and that helps.
I use TCPMP for movies and music (great EQ control that works well). Try that and see if you still get the freezing. I use version 72r1, since it has more options for streaming and tweaking sound and video.
Rushless, it turns out my battery was the problem. I've bought the 1550ma battery as well, using pktools and TCPMP and everything is working great. Thanks for the suggestions.

The HTC OEM 1550ma is a good battery- especially since it is an OEM. It is the perfect battery if you use the unit as a multi-media device.
If the Dash had a 3.5 mm jack it would be near perfect. Then no need for the adaptor. Kind of surprised there is not a form fitting adaptor that fits the bottom of the unit and provides 3.5mm and the usb. There is an adaptor, but it comes off easy and the design would cause the usb female connection to break on the DASH after a while.
A form fitting design would correct this. Will add a little size, but I would not mind. Easiest way of course would be if it had 3.5mm in the first place. Blackberry Curve has it and is slightly smaller than the Dash and has less multi-media options. Ironic.

Perhaps you are joking, if not- you are being a rude, since you took my rhetorical question out of context.
The premise being:
Why update to 6.1 if it requires updating the rom again and having to reinstall apps, etc all over again- after just doing it for the HTC rom of this thread?
To point, is the update worth the trouble for most people?

I know this question was asked b-4 in this thread, but it's been a while. Does anyone know if there's a hack (either in the registry or by adding a .ink file in the windows directory) to allow a long press of the "#" key to switch between the profile that you're in to vibrate? This was available in the T-mo DASH ROM but the HTC Rom doesn't seem to have it.
Update: I have found the file in the \windows directory from the T-Mo ROM that pointed to the "#" key... It was Long_Camera.ink ..... attributes were 24#"\windows\mute.exe" i added this file to my windows directory and it didnt seem to work...however, if i manually run the mute.exe file, it will switch my profile back and from vibrate....so it appears there's something else i'm missing....but i think i have at least one piece of the puzzle taken care of

Anyone else having issues with the sound on this rom? I for the life of me can't get this to play the tunes...seems to have a issue with Phonealarm...
Also it doesn't have the "Notify" message tone...can anyone pull that and post it for me?

brilliant! i tested the remap to the IE/T-Zones key and it works but its just a short press. Long press would be nice so not to accidentally change profiles so easily.
anyway, just a tidbit that doesnt help anyway cause i tried but its a ".LNK" file, not ".INK" LNK=Link. but yea doesnt help the button work. ill keep foolin around with it and try to get it to work.
i googled around a lot for a solution to this and read about long press links have the LONG_ at the beginning where as short press links have a SHORT_ at the beginning. i had already flashed though so didnt have the TMO ROM installed to find the file.

8 gb made by Sandisk. I thought it is worth mentioning that even an 8-gig works. I use the 8 gig with my AT&T Tilt. I run the coreplayer from the ad card and watched a movie for about 3 minutes. The movie played flawlessly.
1) In regards to SDHC, all of the reports were type 4 6gb. Mine is a 4gb and does not list as type 4
2) I can not tell what country everyone is from and the only one I can guess is the US is one from Chicago and the comment was general. I am curious that after using the rom, is the radio better than the original in the US. Specifics have appeared by people with Vodaphone symbols, which are Europe.
3) Missed the wifi comment- you are correct (wifi OK)
4) Memory leaks has had both response (yes no). I am curious if this remains a mixed indication or not.
5) I have seen no response in regards to item 5, though I have seen posts where people ask, but yet to see an answer. Disabling USB seems counter intuitive to an installation from PC to phone unless the data is imported to the phone. Just curious how this works.
Thanks

The JOGGR seems to not be working as well for sound. I upgraded from T-Mobile Rom and kind of miss the big speaker that would come up. At least I knew how loud the phone was. Now it seems I can't turn the volume up or down very much and definately not mute it with the slide down motion on the JOGGR. Anyway to get an indication of where the volume level is with this ROM?
Thanks

I think I have found a bug in this rom. I frequently turn off the phone radio in com manager and set conditional forwarding to my work phone so I can receive calls from both numbers on one phone.
This was never a problem before I updated to this rom. Now however, when I turn off the phone radio and go to turn it back on several hours later, my battery is nearly dead from a full charge. For some reason, turning off the radio kills my battery now. I have tried this with two different batteries with the same results.
Has anyone else noticed this problem?

ive just noticed my battery is going dead much quicker than before.
i used to be able to make it almost 48 hours before a charge, now i am lucky to get 20 hours. bummer i know, im gonna look into a higher capacity battery. guess thats the trade off for a quicker phone.

Yea . my bad....... just a typo on my part.......i did mean .lnk not .ink (duh)
but i already have my tzones button configured to btaudiotoggle (thats what i had using my tmo rom) so i don't see any other buttons that i can use. anyway good to see it working 4 u.....maybe a regedit would also be needed.
I have been looking for any identifying factors on one of my coworkers DASH (he still has the T-MO ROM) But no dice thus far. If you have any ideas on what i might search for in the registry on his DASH it might do us both help (and anyone else also wanting this to work) BTW...i already tried searching the registry using keywords.... mute and long

Does anyone know how to add startup/shutdown sounds to this ROM?
i've tried editing this via... hkcu-->control panel --> sounds --> startup(shutdown) --> sound......... i've also tried adding via: hklm-->software-->HTC-->Shutdown(startup) Wav... ;;;;so any regedit mod info would greatly help to get this to work,
Update: I looked at my co-worker's phone settings (he still has the T-Mo ROM) and made adjustments to my ROM to get this to work. This is has several steps so bear with me.
1. edit the registry keys:
a. HKLM-->Software-->HTC-->Shutdown .... Add two values in this folder :
1. Image - then in the value data, type in the location of your .gif file
wish to use (ex: \windows\shutdown.gif )
2. WAV - then in the value data, type in the location of your .wav file
wish to use (ex: \windows\shutdown.wav )
b. HKLM -->Software-->HTC-->Startup ..... then just repeat the steps
above for this folder as well.
c. HKLM --> System -->Shutdown --> 1 ...add this value in this folder and
delete anything else
1. Dll - then in the value data, type : \Windows\oemstartup.dll
d. HKLM --> System -->Shutdown --> 2 ..add this value in this folder and
delete anything else
1. Splash - then in the value data, type the location of your .gif file
(ex: \windows\shutdown.gif )
e. HKLM --> System --> Startup --> 1 ...add this value in this folder and
delete anything else
1. Dll - then in the value data, type: \Windows\oemstartup.dll
f. HKLM --> System --> Startup --> 2 ... add these two values in this
folder and delete anything else
1. Duration - then give the value data amount of 1000 (you may use up
to 4000 as a value entry as well)
2. Splash - then in the value data, type the location of your .gif file
(ex: \windows\shutdown.gif )
Adding a file to \windows directory ......
The file "oemstartup.dll" doesn't exist in the HTC Rom , but I extracted this file from the T-Mobile ROM and placed this into my \windows root directory. Just unzip the file below and copy the oemstartup.dll file into the \windows directory/////// Once all of the aforementioned steps are performed you should be able to see your custom .gif startup/shutdown screens and hear your custom startup/shutdown sounds. Enjoy!

How about we make a text file with the name Long_Camera.lnk and include "\windows\mute.exe" in it??? Would it direct it to the # changing the profile??

I don't think you're right. I think the number (ex: 36#) references which key on the keyboard is to be used for the function. not how many charcters are in the line itself....... for example: (oringinally the t-Zones key, which is also the PIE key,,,,i can simply take out everything after 36# and put anything else i want to point to a different program , and no matter how many characters i have, i dont have to adjust the "36#" at all and it still works.
Not sure if this is coincedence but if you start counting your qwerty keyboard from left to right and top to bottom, starting with the letter "q" .....count.....when i counted and i got the "36" i landed on the t-zones ..aka: PIE key......

I found the smartphone installer here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1lthgzyjl9j
... and the latest files from a DASH WM6 ROM, here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?9scydm2bjoj
What worked for me is to:
install Voice Command from the first link
remove the lnk from the Voice Command item in the startup folder
soft-reset phone
in the Voice Command directory, rename vcbthag.dll to vcbthag_.dll
copy all of the files from the second link into the program files directory
rename the Voice Command item in the startup folder by adding the lnk extension back
soft-reset phone
delete the renamed file (vcbthag_.dll) from the Voice Command directory
set Voice Command options via the utility
This actually works to enable call & message announcements via bluetooth headset ... if that is how you set it up in the utility.
boggsie,
I just followed the -first- step in this list ("install Voice Command from the first link"), and now I have Voice Command working (granted it doesn't work over bluetooth yet, but I'll follow another post for that in this forum).
So I wanted to know what are the other steps for? Do they "upgrade" VC in any way? Do they make it better? If they provide any added benefit, I'll gladly do them, I just wanted to know what were they supposed to do.

i can prove you wrong on the #36 is linked to the tzone key cause on my command i use 19#"\Windows\IA_Task_Manager.exe" and i works fine.
the name of the file tells windows what key to link the file and execute.

Open your device-side registry editor and navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Au dioGateway
On this key, look for the value BTAGExtModule and change the string there to be: \windows\vcbthag.dll (and write down the existing one if you ever have to roll back to the original value).
Now, reboot your phone. Once it's done booting, you should be good to go! If it doesn't work, press and hold the home key on your handset to make sure Voice Command is up and running.
This worked for me, as is: once I rebooted I hit the "button"
also in VC setup make sure that in "announcement Routing" is set to "Bluetooth only" or "Bluetooth if available"

I guess we're both wrong then mikey...... since "\Windows\IA_Task_Manager.exe" contains 28 characters and not 19..
and since you can use #19 for the t-zones key my 36# theory is wrong....
just wish someone would figure this out or speak up if they already know.....
i already have my device set the way i want it, (i found the splash screens i was looking for in an earlier post) and i found a site that has the music home screen plugin that this ROM lacked... the one and only thing i am lacking is the ability to press the "#"("A") key to switch between vibrate probile and normal profile, just like the T-MO ROM had. i feel it a bit more responsive rather than faster.
both roms have their issues.
i have been using this rom for about 6 days.
it still has memory leaks. which in my case are worse than the dash.
at this point i can say that it rarely freezes compared to the dash.
i no longer have the boot up reloop problem with the micro sd inserted.
the best thing to do is use your phone the way you are going to use it.
if you dont like somehting modify it. if you are still not happy then do a flash.

I upgraded from Tmo to Rogers, and then to this rom for the micro SDHC support and i love the new rom. My only issue is that I use the red guava bubbles scheme but the HTC rom uses the green scheme. I don't know how to change the incall picture and the branding brick when dialing from green to custom. The files are read only and when trying to delete with Resco Explorer it says they are in the ROM memory. Any ideas?

The other alternative that i have been using for the profile switch is this:
The program that switches between your current profile and vibrate (and back again) is called mute.exe. It's found in your \windows directory. All i did was create a shortcut to that program and drop it in my start menu directory... (actually \windows\start menu\accessories). I use a program called e-natives smarttoolkit. I love it and it has the ability to assign hotkeys (and a whole lot more). (for whatever reason it doesn't allow you to use the "#" key as a hotkey. it says the key assignment is forbidden). Anywho...... what i did was assigned a hotkey to that program (mute.exe) to my number "0" key . the program also has the ability to assign a key delay up to 1000ms so you have to press it for about a full second b-4 it will switch .....since there is a delayed press needed, it doesnt interfere with your normal use of the key. For now, i'm content to use the profile switch in this manner. If you want the link to this program here's the url: www.e-natives.com . I recommend the version RC08D from the site as RC09 core 1 had some issues with my phone.

i belive a moderator is the only one that can delet posts.
you could edit one of them and erase everything in it.
or just leave it so you can make sure that we get the point:)
i forgot to mention that smart toolkit i disabled: global system skinning, back key on deskbar is set to default.
for appearance i desabled any animation.
i am also not using their auto lock feature.
im just throwing this info out there.
i am hoping that they come out with the RC09 2 (cant remember the exact name but there was supposed to be a later version that has a lot of bug fixes.

Dudes, I updated yesterday and now MMS disappeared!
I mean, it's not in "new > mms, then options bla bla bla", I simply don't have Multimedia Messages anymore!
The "Messaging" now only have:
Text Messages;
Outlook E-mail;
Windows Live;
New E-mail Account...
What happened, and most important important:
How to resolve this?:)

I was able to get voice dialing back. Now I just need to make it work again with the button on my Bluetooth.
This worked for me, as is: once I rebooted I hit the "button"
also in VC setup make sure that in "announcement Routing" is set to "Bluetooth only" or "Bluetooth if available"
does holding your home key work? To bring up VC.

Hello,
I use this rom, and switch langage from english to french. I have an azerty keyboard.
On the home screen, when I press A key (that is also %), It browses the call log and looks after all contacts with A letter : it is the normal behaviour
But when I press Z key ( that is also "1" key ), it browses the call log with W letter
When I press Q key (that is also "#"), it browses the call log with A letter
And when I press W key (that is also "*") , it browses the call log with Z letter ...
I change et9 settings but it does not solve this problem
Do you know how to solve it?
Thanks !

The part that I was missing on my US TMO Dash was that I assumed it was app unlocked since I could install apps on it myself. But I ran surreal networks unlock just for kicks and after that the steps went by like clockwork.
The new ROM feels quicker but as to whether if it really adds any benefit or I just like to spend time doing random **** to kill time is still TBD.

@dhaval-Well, the main reason people upgrade their ROMs is because of speed. All of the preinstalled OEM ROMs are slow peices of crap filled with bloatware, this ROM here is a clean Generic HTC ROM, no carrier branding or anything like that(Though I preferablly use one of the 6.1 ROMs...seeing as this is just plain 6.0). So its just really your choice. Be sure to follow the instructions EXACTLY or you may end up with a brick for a handset. And also, just google for Resco Explorer w/crack or the like and you will find a regitry editor(or use one of the 6.1 ROMs, seeing as they have this pre-installed and pre-cracked). Hope that helps ya a little bit!

i installed this rom about a week ago and i had a problem with the MMS. i just fixed it yesterday. now if i install the 6.1 english kavana, would i have the same problem u think? its just that, i dunno if its worth it for me to have to risk bricking my new dash i got a month ago. installing new roms is risky, is it not?
my point: is 6.1 faster and better then this rom?
ashasaur

yes, WM6.1 IS indeed faster than 6.0, and yes, ROM flashing is rather dangerous, IF you dont heed and follow the instuctions. IF YOU FOLLOW THEM 100%, then most of the time you will be fine.

Does anyone know how to add startup/shutdown sounds to this ROM?...
...
...
I'm sure you're well thought of in your field, Pudge, whatever it is.
It obviously is NOT technical writing, though, lol!
I'd really like to add a custom startup sound to my Dash.
(Does it HAVE to be a .WAV? Would an .MP3 work?)
Perhaps later I might be interested in a custom startup screen as well.
Ummm, ok. First, did this work?
i've tried editing this via... hkcu-->control panel --> sounds --> startup(shutdown) --> sound......... i've also tried adding via: hklm-->software-->HTC-->Shutdown(startup) Wav
If not, what WERE the results of those edits?
Next. My Dash does not have the first reg entries that you specify:
HKLM-->Software-->HTC-->Shutdown
HKLM -->Software-->HTC-->Startup
It does have these, however:
HKLM\System\Shutdown\1\
Within \Shutdown\1\ I have \Splash, which has the data value "\Windows\Shutdown.png"
HKLM\System\Startup\1\
Which contains \Splash, with no data value defined.
HKLM\System\Startup\2\
Which also contains \Splash, also with no data value defined.
Okay, where you say "add a value", please define the TYPE.
My reg editor lists a Key and four distinct types of Values as options for "New".
As for "deleting anything else"...what else might be in there? What would these keys or values control? What may happen if I delete them?
Thanks for taking the time to post these steps. I'm sure there are many like me who are quite tech savvy but new to cell phone customization, so some clarification would be greatly appreciated!
FYI: I am using Rickwatts v24 w/Opera (the browser "Opera", I assume, though I cannot find it in my Dash applications). Believe me, you are not the only "telexpert" talking over the heads of us "n00bs" around here. :D
Also, I tried installing your CAB file with your custom startup/shutdown screens and Vista sounds, but (after ASSUMING that the .CAB file was to be copied to the \Windows directory, since you didn't specify) when I attempted installation I received a very generic "Installation was unsuccessful" message.
Thanks Pudgedaddy!

- You could either run a virtual machine or dual boot some windows O/S and flash the rom via this method
- Or put the rom on the Mico SD card and install it via the bootloader?
Just my two cents..

How to access Bootloader:
Quote:
NRG: Turn your phone completely off. Pushing the camera button in, plug in your usb cable. The tricolor, bootloader screen will come up and you can flash your regular OEM ROM which can be downloaded from one of the stickies.
Hope that helps! ;)
