p.s. - if anyone knows a link or where i can find this elusive bbconnect v4 for the dash, PLEASE hook me up.

Hi,
i've got this ROM on my Excalibur:
HTC_S620_GER_1.27.407.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship
I'm german, so I want to use a ROM in german language.
Is the ROM mentioned in this thread suitable for me ?
I think it says ..Brightpoint_US.. in the filename, so it's for the US only ?
I do not have access to the HTC support area since my device is non-HTC branded. Maybe someone can upload a german version of the 1.33 ROM if available ?
Thank a lot

I have a question.
If I flash my HTC S621 from my Rogers ROM to this one, does it wipe everything out so that I have to reload all my apps and stuff, or does it retain my existing data?
It would be quite a chore to get everything going again, if this was like starting over.
Thanks,

hmm, I think I'd need to see some benchmark speeds rather than 'it feels faster' . Feelings can be deceptive, especially if it's a brand new install with a cleaned up registry, and without a ton of add on apps taking up memory. ;-)

I've found this new ROM to be an improvement over the Roger's ROM. The Roger's ROM required me to pause between calls (I'd get a SIM error otherwise). The HTC does not demonstrate this behavior.
I've also had a problem finding a new network when traveling and using the Roger's ROM. I don't know if the HTC ROM deals with this.
Google maps locator function also works with the HTC ROM, but not the Roger's ROM.

Another thing, also I have not experienced a battery drain. No Mr.johnnylavah all ROM's are not light speed fast when you first install them, but this new HTC ROM is still running at light speed with a "TON" and BOAT LOAD" of applications. Maybe you need a new Dash with a new battery, a known fix for the ROM slow down blues...........!:D I know one thing, the "RADIO" on this new HTC ROM is stronger than Maxwell House coffee............! I'm still waiting on the GSM review..........!;)

Honestly using terms like Boat Load or Ton or Light Speed is a false promotion. The ROM is fast I give it that but it's really not much faster then any other, besides the TMO ROM (Garbage).

Upgraded a few hours ago and have fully customized everything and it is running much smoother than the Rogers Rom. I used have problems making calls that required a soft reset (on the Rogers Rom) and no longer experience that problem.
One major concern is the support of SDHC cards. I'm in the process of purchasing a 6gb SDHC card. I have my fingers crossed.

After installing this new ROM on my S621 (this is the same as the s620 the only difference being the US power cord!) it does feel faster. Time will tell if it remains that way.
The radio does seem stronger and more responsive. I live in a poor reception area, having to drive through a dead zone on the way, so every day I lose reception at least twice. On the old ROM, it took quite a while for the radio to pick up the signal again. This one seems to pick it up very quickly.
Also, I sync with Exchange Server and have quite a large contact list. This ROM seems to browse and search a lot quicker.
In the upgrade, the update utility said I was updating from 1.27 to 1.33, whatever that means.

I took the plunge. It has fixed two very annoying problems for me. One is the reboot loop that I used to have to pop my memory card to stop. And the other was the phone ringing through my bluetooth headset when it was turned on.
I love the fact that it comes with JBed too. That's a big plus.
It's definitely faster. I actually have to get used to it because I had trained myself to use the phone with the delays in mind. I'm very pleased.

I've also seen the issue when using a NON US ROM that Bank of America's site doesn't work.
This has to be a security setting or a certificate or something - Anyone have any thoughts?

I am trying to remap the pink T key on the Tmobile branded dash that takes to internet / tzones, in the previous tmo ROM with WM6 the steps below allowed me change it. However, "short_IE.lnk" does not exist in the HTC ROM can someone tell me what this is called in the latest HTC ROM so we can remap...MANY THANKS.
Remapping Keys and Text Input
How To Edit the Keyboard Link
1. Download Vieka WordPad.
2. Sync your phone to your PC.
3. Run CE Notepad on your computer and open any of the following files:
T-Zones Button: "\Windows\Short_IE.lnk"
Recommended Remaps
CommManager: 36#"\windows\CommManager.exe"
Task Manager: 19#\Windows\IA_Task_Manager.exe?:TaskManagerApp
Hi, I am still trying remap the key between the camera and the envelope/email, can anyone tell me what file needs to be edited in the new HTC ROM, as the file "Windows\Short_IE.lnk" does not exist to alter in this latest ROM.

Another benefit I am seeing with this ROM is the battery life. Previously 2 days was it, this is with Bluetooth on but WiFi off, Activesync on DirectPush plus the usual txt, e-mail and calls during the day.
I am currently on my 3rd day of the current battery with 39% left at lunchtime.

Anyone else having the following issues with this ROM? I cannot seem to properly Sync. It shows the syncing is going and going and going.... but never syncs... If I disconnect the phone, it shows "last sync successful though"?
I have tried SDA_Unlock, HTC_Unlock, and SurrealNetworks and still cannot edit files inside Windows. (Trying to kill the green machine).

Prior to installing 1.33, my Dash wouldn't recognize my brand spanking new Sandisk 6gb miniSDHC card. Afterwards however, it's alllll good.
Presumably all other miniSDHC cards will also work, but who the hell really knows?
I have the OEM HTC S620 (not the T-Mobile Dash) and a Sandisk 6GB microSDHC card. It works just fine. I am using the HTC_S620_WWE_1.27.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90 ROM. You should have no problem purchasing a 6GB microSDHC card for your HTC S620.
Keep in mind that SD support is with the driver the telco provider supplies in the ROM, not the actual hardware itself.

route66 would crashed and would take memory and not give it back no matter if I clicked stop all applications. I removed that app and installed smart2go which doesn't seem to steal my memory. This rom is not perfect by any means but it does frustrate me lesser than other roms, including the Rogers rom.

What version of Live Messenger is everyone using? The included version has the annoying problem of wanting to copy over all the contacts.
I tried 10.6.30.2100 but it refused to install. I tried 10.6.33.0600 and 10.6.32.2100, but they don't seem to be integrate properly. The phone doesn't vibrate upon received messages and doesn't give the icon up top that a new message has been received, nor does the Contact text change to Send IM.

That's not what I am talking about.... I am talking about being able to shut off the ringer while it is ringing WITHOUT sending them to voicemail. Sometimes I want to ignore the call for a minute or two and my friends all know that if I hit the end button (we call it the fu** you button)... that I blew off their call totally.

The registry keys are set as 0010409 in this ROM. Typical settings for English QWERTY is 0020409.
Could this be the problem there?

I tried installing 10.6.30.2100 again and had success. Everything works now. :)
I have seen an occasional bug with this ROM. When I start replying to a text message the number-pad types numbers instead of letters. The 'abc' indicator up top isn't there when this happens. Closing text messages and retrying has brought things back to normal.
I also find the GPRS connection isn't quite as reliable as I recall. It wasn't perfect before, but it seems a bit worse. I'll have a good signal and an edge connection active, but programs, usually Java programs, have difficulty connecting. I find closing the apps and turning off the data and retrying usually works.
Does anyone have an idea of how to make the new text message program load faster? Everything seems snappy, but that's still painfully slow to load. It seems a little ridiculous.

Double tapping the joggr still works for me. I hear with T-Mobile ROMs a single touch did the job. With HTC ROMs a double tap is needed.

I have flashed my T-Mobile Dash in the US. After doing so I can't connect to the internet. I've used the settings given to set up the internet and every time I try to connect to receive my e-mail i get an "Error Synchronizing" followed by "The Remote party has ended this connection" (I get the second one while also trying to connect to internet explorer. I also cannot get the phone to be recognized by my computer or Active Sync. I have Installed on my computer SP_AllowCertificateInstall.cab, & SurrealNetworkAppUnlock.cab. But since my phone is not recognized by the computer I can't get SDA_Application Unlock to read after the flash. Any help on these two issues would be greatly appreciated.
Update: I've gotten Active Sync to connect. Still can't get email or internet without Wifi.

It's weird, I had to totally change my GPRS settings to get my Dash to connect after flashing this ROM. I have another Dash still with the TMo ROM on it and the settings are totally different.
To get it to work, I just created a new GPRS connection, connects to The Internet, access point wap.voicestream.com Advanced connection options, internet connection set to that GPRS connection, rest set to automatic. Restart and it should work.

This ROM is definitely faster and better on the battery than the Rogers rom using the S621. But two issues:
- Theres an unusual "LCD" font that pops up in certain menus, and in the Comm Manager screen. I tried installing Opera Mini and it imported this wierd font and its impossible to see anything
- Since this ROM has no Office Mobile 6, is there a solution to installing and getting office mobile 6.1 upgrade to work? I tried installing from the cab file with no luck.

I have a Tmobile Dash from the United States, and I have to say that this rom is far better than the original Tmobile rom, my phone is locked, but I followed the instructions and had no problems. Here are some quick details:
-My wifi and data are fine.
-The big thing is that this rom supports SDHC cards (i tried it and it works with a 6gig card), which in my opinion was the only negative about the original dash.
-Jogger scroll works as it should without the need for additional pluggins.
-Memory has improved a lot, after closing down programs in task manager it registers as having 16,000-18,000.
-Overall it is quite a improvement, the menus are very responsive and I rarely have to reboot my phone (before it was almost once or twice a day due to lockups)
With this rom it really feels like its the next gen Dash.

HA - discovered the reason for the freeze ... I had been experimenting with ActiveSync over BlueTooth ... this is what had been causing the occasional freeze. It just happened again (the freeze) and I noticed that ActiveSync was running ... had nothing to do with the ROM, as I suspected.

DMC78, this is exactly what I did (keeping my fingers crossed the whole time)
1. download all the necessary programs and unzip them:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329605
2. A folder called "Excalibur USPL- CID BYPASS- JumpSPL" has the following instructions (credit going to jockyw2001)
1, Run the SDA Application Unlock.exe, it will greet you with "SDA successfully unlocked".
2, Turn off your Excalibur and remove the storage card.
3, Turn your Excalibur on and connect it to active sync/windows mobile device center.
4, From the Excalibur USPL- CID BYPASS run Uspl.bat. Follow the on screen step by step instructions. Press enter through the prompts which you have already completed in steps 1-3. On your Excalibur mobile you “may” be prompted to allow "JumpSPL" to run, press yes. On running JumpSPL your screen will go white with the backlight on dim. (note all going well the screen will remain in this white state until step 5 has completed).
5, Now run the update RUU_Excalibur... or HTC_S620... update you want flash, everything else is automated. You’re done!
I wasn't exactly sure if it would all work, but hey it was worth the try, and believe me you will like the improvements.

Hello everyone.
I'm new to the forums and the whole "modding" scene.
Anyway, I was able to update my T-Mobile Dash to 1.33 [supplied in this thread]. This was about 10 minutes ago.
Everything is fine and dandy. I can call and receive calls. I can send messages and receive 'em.
The only thing that is bugging me is the text "Get More..." on the Home Screen. Shouldn't it say "T-Mobile"?
Keep in mind that I'm subscribed to T-Mobile and reside in the U.S.
Thanks. :)
P.S. Any links to other threads with more information on customizing my Dash? Such as free games, apps, etc.

No, the ROM you have loaded will work well with your T-mobile service but the specific T-mobile additions to the phone are no longer there. If you want them you must load a T-mobile ROM instead. You are now seeing a screen background designed by HTC. The background can be changed (search this forum) but it is only a visual change.

You know how on the T-Mobile ROM you edited the Short_IE.lnk file to remap the T-Zones key? All you have to do is use notepad to CREATE a text file that contains what you want the key to do (ex. 19#\Windows\IA_Task_Manager.exe?:TaskManagerApp) and save it to the Windows directory on your Dash as "Short_IE.lnk".

I have looked... but a quick question:
Has someone figured out a work around on the alpha-->numeric dialing on this ROM? Last I saw, the Surreal app didn't work.:(

I wasn't exactly sure if it would all work, but hey it was worth the try, and believe me you will like the improvements.
take care

Hello, I am attempting the upgrade and followed all of these steps. However, the flashing process takes about 15 seconds instead of 10 minutes and when it is finished, mt phone returns to its previous state. Here is what I have in Settings>System Information>:
ROM Version 1.22.531.4
When I was running the RUU, it asked if I wanted to flash to version 1.11 something. Is this correct? I'm assuming it isn't.
When my phone reboots now, there is a bunch of HTC red text superimposed over the T-Mobile boot up screen, so something happened, I just don't know what!

OK, got it to work, I did not download and run the correct RUU. Everything looks like it's working very well, very fast and responsive. The only thing I miss is Voice Command, any links to this? ;)

I found the smartphone installer here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1lthgzyjl9j
... and the latest files from a DASH WM6 ROM, here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?9scydm2bjoj
What worked for me is to:
install Voice Command from the first link
remove the lnk from the Voice Command item in the startup folder
soft-reset phone
in the Voice Command directory, rename vcbthag.dll to vcbthag_.dll
copy all of the files from the second link into the program files directory
rename the Voice Command item in the startup folder by adding the lnk extension back
soft-reset phone
delete the renamed file (vcbthag_.dll) from the Voice Command directory
set Voice Command options via the utility
This actually works to enable call & message announcements via bluetooth headset ... if that is how you set it up in the utility.

If I download the files in the link above, is that all I need to my T-Mobile Dash? I am on T-Mobile's system in the US. I am concerned because I saw a post where some have said they used the wrong RUU file on their first attempt.
Also, drivers are available to make the Dash work with SDHC, I am surprised a driver has not been released that updates this ability for all Dash's. That is one of the top complaints that T-Mobile gets about the Dash (its 2gb limit) in both the US and England. Seems they would sell more Dash's if they provided a driver upgrade.

On another note.. noticed a possible reason for the keyboard problems...
The registry keys are set as 0010409 in this ROM. Typical settings for English QWERTY is 0020409.
Could this be the problem there?
Where can I find the registry key for this? Have you tried changing it and restarting the device to see if it makes any changes?

The new ROM is working great, I love the speed and extra RAM. I do have 1 issue though - my email is no longer automatically fetched on a schedule. I have both Yahoo and GMail set up for IMAP access. Manual Send/Receive works fine. Both accounts are configured to sync every 30 minutes. I've tried deleting and re-creating the accounts. I also rebooted the phone after creating the new accounts. Nothing seems to trigger the auto send/receive? Is there any special registry setting or event queue manipulation I can do to make this work again?
thanks

Yes iti recognizes it for volume and scrollbar. Ive been running this ROM for over a month and it is pretty stable still. No problems whatsoever. Still the best ROM yet.
Thank you, that is very good to hear. Can I ask if you use GPRS or otherwise as I read that GPRS does not work on this ROM.
GPRS is essential for me and I need to be assured it does work before moving to this ROM.

Please pardon my dumb question:
In regards to instructions:
4, From the Excalibur USPL- CID BYPASS run Uspl.bat. Follow the on screen step by step instructions. Press enter through the prompts which you have already completed in steps 1-3. On your Excalibur mobile you “may” be prompted to allow "JumpSPL" to run, press yes. On running JumpSPL your screen will go white with the backlight on dim. (note all going well the screen will remain in this white state until step 5 has completed).
5, Now run the update RUU_Excalibur... or HTC_S620... update you want flash, everything else is automated. You’re done!
When do you actually update with step 5? Is it part of the bat script and a case of hitting enter, or do you actually open the 1.33 rom file?
I also notice there is nor reference now to disabling USB in Active Sync in the instructions for USPL. Is this also taken care of in the script?
Thanks
Anyone tried with 4gb SDHC cards?

i just did this this morning.
just follow the instructions in the bat... it'll guide you through the process. when you run the bat and it tells you to run the ruu... that's when you run the ruu.
it took me a couple tries for some reason. guess i didn't get a good load of teh .exe or something, but it worked for me on the second attempt after a phone reboot.

When the screen turns "white" (more like black or grey). When this occurs, go to activesync or windows mobile device center (on vista) and disable usb. You can find it, trust me. At this point run the 1.33 rom file. The installer will start and you should have no problems installing. If for some reason the installer can't connect to the phone, then you messed up between steps 4 and 5.
The instructions aren't exactly specific and I'd like to help redo them, but I really don't want to redo my phone for the sake of more explicit instructions.
Just keep talking to us and we'll help you get it.

In terms of installation, I did not have an active sync connection as I had CID unlocked and the screen was white. However, the update programme still connected to the device and done the upgrade without any issues.
So far so good...fingers crossed.

Before I go through all of the fun of setting my phone up again with all of the programs (Live Search, vTap, Office, TCMP, etc) and emulators (Smartgear, MAME, Nester, Picodrive) I use, I am curious as to how much better it really is.
I appreciate all of your time.
I am in the US and use T-Mobile (have for years) and currently use WM5.
1) Will the rom actually allow me to use SDHC cards 4gb and higher? A key reason I would update to 1.33.
2) Is the radio also better in the US, or is this more an improvement for Europe. I have the rom the Dash came with when I got it in February.
3) Is wifi impeded at all?
4) Memory leaks?
5) Why does the USB get disabled? Does the bat file import the rom to the Dash and install it? Having a hard time understanding how it installs when the USB is disabled.
Thanks for your time!

1) In regards to SDHC, all of the reports were type 4 6gb. Mine is a 4gb and does not list as type 4
2) I can not tell what country everyone is from and the only one I can guess is the US is one from Chicago and the comment was general. I am curious that after using the rom, is the radio better than the original in the US. Specifics have appeared by people with Vodaphone symbols, which are Europe.
3) Missed the wifi comment- you are correct (wifi OK)
4) Memory leaks has had both response (yes no). I am curious if this remains a mixed indication or not.
5) I have seen no response in regards to item 5, though I have seen posts where people ask, but yet to see an answer. Disabling USB seems counter intuitive to an installation from PC to phone unless the data is imported to the phone. Just curious how this works.

What this step wants you to do is disable Active Sync connections over USB (not all USB connections). The updater software communicates with the device using other protocols and does not want ActiveSync disrupting anything. The updater process seems to work as stated - sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it going perfectly though ;)

If a 6gb SDHC card works in the dash it is fairly safe to assume the 4gb will as well. There are also reports that the 8gb SDHC card works flawlessly too. Pretty much any current SDHC card (8gb and less) works in the Dash/Excaliber/620/621 as long as you have the new rom.

I updated my Dash (still running Tmo Rom) with the just the radio in this rom..
I live in the USA, in NJ and I don't see much difference if any between the radio in this rom, and the original Tmo rom..
One thing I have noticed is that although the bars now show a higher signal in some places, the actual signal is the same as before..
I still get choppy signal, or no internet in the exact same places as before, its just that the bars are higher..

That seems to make sense, because tweaks would have minimal improvement on hardware, unless there are features hidden in hardware that are activated afterwards. The radio in the Dash is a standard and rather mature circuit, so I do not see how much improvement can be achieved, though there is always a chance.
I was hoping for some improvement, because I live in Kentucky and there are some "gaps" in coverage. Perhaps the improvement is something in relation to equipment in at least Europe. Unless the higher bar count is a placebo in relation to actual signal.

That would be great. My concern though is that most SDHC cards sold through to consumers (been around longer) are the 4gb version and I have not heard a report about them working. My understanding is that there is a revision change in the 6gb and above chips and is a reason for the gap of time between 4gb and 6gb chips under type 4.
Stands to reason that 6gb is okay, anything else should work, so surprised to see no 4gb reports.
Edit: I need to stop searching this forum on my phone- too small to view everything, after posting this and using an actual computer monitor to view the screen (less scrolling needed), I noticed a post by one person who said 4GB worked. Of course, no point in using only 4gb unless you already have one.
Oh well, I am sure I can use the 4gb on something. I will update and order an 8gb card. Only thing that stinks is that I have Virtual Pool, Smart Tweaker, Fascade, etc that I no longer have the codes for and Handango does not seem to be code reissue friendly.. Bummer. I have tried it and get to the point where it prompts to disable USB and then to run the RUU rom, but it errors out with a 260 connection error. I am disabling USB via the connection settings menu.
Where am I messing up?
Also, do I need to repeat the whole process or back to installing the rom?
EDIT: The only way it would install is by not deactivating the USB in activesync. It then allowed the update of the rom.

... and the latest files from a DASH WM6 ROM, here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?9scydm2bjoj
What worked for me is to:
install Voice Command from the first link
remove the lnk from the Voice Command item in the startup folder
soft-reset phone
in the Voice Command directory, rename vcbthag.dll to vcbthag_.dll
copy all of the files from the second link into the program files directory
rename the Voice Command item in the startup folder by adding the lnk extension back
soft-reset phone
delete the renamed file (vcbthag_.dll) from the Voice Command directory
set Voice Command options via the utility
This actually works to enable call & message announcements via bluetooth headset ... if that is how you set it up in the utility.Boggsie, you the man, this hack works like a charm on the new HTC wm6 ROM. I am so pleased to hear that this worked for you.
Voice Command doesn't seem to get much love, but I find it irreplaceable. I especially like the BlueTooth announcement feature - so I can sit and work with my headset on and when I get an SMS, EMail or Call, I don't have to pickup my handset to know who it is from.
Unfortunately, the Voice Command installer that I came across did not work for BlueTooth announcement. This is the biggest reason that I wanted to find the Voice Command files from the original T-Mobile DASH WM6 ROM as I knew that BlueTooth announcement worked on that ROM.
Enjoy! Thanks for the feedback.

I initially had a several instances where the phone froze on the day that I installed the HTC 1.33 ROM. It bothered me to the point that I reinstalled the Rogers ROM. I realized that I wanted SDHC support, so I gave the 1.33 ROM another try and for some reason, after the second install, I haven't experienced many lockups; I know that I haven't experienced one in more than a full week of use. I use WiFi, ActiveSync via Bluetooth and have installed Cloudyfa Java for Opera Mini ... it works great.

Kentucky?! GO CATS!!!!
You have to live in Kentucky to understand. The Wildcats are a college basketball team in Kentucky and our main symbol for sports in our state.
The radio does surprise me in a good way and the phone seems clearer.

I upgraded to this ROM from T-Mo WM6. It is such a huge difference in how the device operates. Its been 2 days now, and I haven't had ONE PROBLEM.
Menus are faster, and the Joggr is awesome now. Surfing the web is much improved. I've actually been in the market for a S630 Cavalier, but after flashing to this ROM, I might keep the Dash around a little longer.
For you T-Mo guys that are afraid to do it because you have the T-Mo 5.99/mo full internet 'hack', and think it wont work with this ROM, think again. It works fine, and has for me for 2 days. POP email works fine too. I can actually send emails from my device now.
This ROM is so streamlined, it has none of the T-Mo junk. As stated above, it doesn't have Office, but you can DL the CAB.
This is probably the best upgrade for your S620 T-Mo Dash. It runs great, and a BIG thanks to all here that did the legwork for all of us to enjoy it.

I noticed that too. That alone appears to confirm the radio works better, though the download speeds already did that for me.
Google maps says the position is accurate within 1,700 meters. Being within 41 square meters is not too bad.

I flashed to the new ROM. What is the x with the circle around it that appears in between the icon that looks like a memory card and "G" along the battery and signal indicator line? I don't recall seeing this yesterday when I first did the install but see it today?

I also need to say thanks to all those who have done all of the leg work to make this ROM upgrade possible. I bought a TMO Dash from a guy at work who upgraded to a BB 8320 which is coincidentally also what I have. Anyway, I did the ROM upgrade, loaded the office .cab, loaded BBConnect and I like this 200 times better than my BB. I essentially have a WM6 that works just like a BB but much better. I might just sell my Curve. Everything runs miles better than the TMO WM6 Rom. Thanks again to everyone who has made this upgrade possible.

Anyone have problems with MMS? With the T-Mo ROM I used to get MMS msgs fine, i.e., pics, and voice. Now it prompts me to download, I do, and nothing happens. I can send them fine though.
Edit: As I wrote this I sent an SMS to a friend. Got a warning screen saying it couldn't send. So, I have NO SMS at all. Anyone have any ideas?

No I don't think you need to have anything special on the card (at least normally) - I think it's just a precaution that you should not have a storage card in there during the install. You mention 'Wing' here... but I think the software is only for the s620

Excalibur USPL 1.11 made by jockyw2001
1, Run the SDA Application Unlock.exe, it will greet you with "SDA successfully unlocked".
2, Turn off your Excalibur and remove the storage card.
3, Turn your Excalibur on and connect it to active sync/windows mobile device center.
4, From the Excalibur USPL- CID BYPASS run Uspl.bat. Follow the on screen step by step instructions. Press enter through the prompts which you have already completed in steps 1-3. On your Excalibur mobile you “may” be prompted to allow "itsutils" then "haret" to run, press yes both times... On running haret your screen will go black with the backlight on dim. Now go to active sync/windows mobile device center and disable usb connections. (note all going well the screen will remain in this black state until step 5 has completed).
5, Now run the update RUU_Excalibur... or HTC_S620... update you want flash, everything else is automated. You’re done!
6, Re-enable usb connections on active sync/windows mobile device center.
Only at step 5 can you actually run the rom update pack

Okay.. new here obviously and only a few weeks old to the Dash. Reading your thread, you guys have pretty much convinced me that flashing my Dash to this ROM is a good idea. Especially on the performance side. However, I have a few newbie-esque questions and I am hoping one (or several) of you will have the patience to answer them :)
1. First of all, I've spent several days getting my system customized to my liking with programs, games, custom Homescreen, tweaks, ect. Is there a program out there I can get that will back all of this up and restore it following the flash?
2. Also, I am a T-Mobile customer in the US. I am curious if there is a way to retain myFaves. If not the exact T-Mobile software, then a way to set my five numbers as Faves?
3. I am assuming any software and games that works with WM6 or less will work with this ROM, is this true?
4 And lastly, if I feel like I lost too much in the transition.. is there a copy of the T-Mo WM6 ROM downloadable somewhere? I feel like I overlooked this somewhere. My apologies.
Thanks so much to any and all of you that answer my concerns. I am quite positive I am going to make this transition, I just a need a few clarifications before I make the dive :)

The one thing I seem to notice is that this rom appears to facilitate leaks. I can reset at night and not use it and have 22.3 megs available and then the next morning be down to 19 megs. Opening and closing roms usually result in losing a meg as well.
I used to average one reset evey three days to every day if not twice a day with this rom.
The good things the rom provides trumps this issue, but it is an issue none the less.

Give SKTools Lite a try. One of the apps on the pack is a memory cleaner (FreeUP RAM) that I've been using for a while now and it does a pretty good job at refreshing the RAM without needing to reset your phone.

BTW, does this ROM already have .NET 2.0 installed? I tried installing it from this .CAB I had in the past and it says a newer version is already installed. It also says I need to remove it in order to install my .CAB but it isn't listed on my "Remove Programs" list. Any way I can check to see if it is already installed?
Also, is there a way to easily switch between Normal and Vibrate profiles? With the T-Mo ROM all you had to do is hold the "A" key and it would switch between your last two profiles used. Anything similar with this ROM?
Last but not least, with the T-Mo ROM, I was able to bring up Voice Notes by holding the Home button. Where now it brings up Voice Tags. Any way to have it open Voice Notes instead?
Thanks in advance...

Just to let anyone know that is interested. I bought an 8gb microsd and it works perfectly. I have about 1,000 songs on it and 10 movies (used pocketdivx to convert to 320x240).
The movies play silky smooth and no pixelation. Impressive.
I got the 8gb for $87 delivered via Amazon.
I also bought a 1550ma extended battery as well. It comes with a cover that matches the Dasy color and texture and has an HTC logo on it. The battery lasts as long as proportionally expected (over 60% more).
Battery was $52 delivered.
One thing that does stink but is good for the Dash is that the sound quality on the Dash is better than my Archos 605. Ironic, considering the Archos is a music player and the Dash is mainly a phone.

Ok, after enjoying this rom for a few weeks I am starting to get the freezing issues that other people in this thread have noted before.
I.e. Phone freezes, screen blanks, and then I have to remove the battery out and turn it on again.
After buying an microSDHC 6gb card, I have been using my Dash as an MP3 player (use Pocket Player), and I usually get the freezing issue after music has been playing for 45min-1hr.
I am tempted to reflash, but wondering how many people have been experiencing this.
Also, why is this happening. Is it a memory leak issue?

I have not had the problem using an 8gb card. I have listened to well over an hour straight music, and watched a movie (1550ma) battery was a good purchase. Free memory was around 20 megs. There is a leak with this rom, that is for sure. Then again, I could say the same about the original T-Mobile WM5 rom I had prior. This may leak a little more, but I use the PKtools freeram and that helps.
I use TCPMP for movies and music (great EQ control that works well). Try that and see if you still get the freezing. I use version 72r1, since it has more options for streaming and tweaking sound and video.

I just received my Seido 1300mah battery (http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=768) yesterday. The beauty behind this extended battery is that it fits with the original back door cover. It is a tight fit, but it fits none the less and I must say I'm very pleased with the batteries performance thus far.
