I read the following on MoDaCo:

It turned out if I do a hard reset of the device it reinstalls everything from scratch, and after going through the initial setup, I eventually got to a screen that lets me select the language for the OS.
This is too good to be true.
I tried to hard reset but I am not sure what buttons to press.
I will try again later tonight.

Hey,
let us know if it is true.. Several of us would like to change the phone language without reflashing the ROM...
Ciao,

This would be completely false...the language is defined by the ROM, there are no images I am aware of that include the MUI (language) files for multiple languages (this would take too much room).

There was a ROM for the hermes or wizard that had language selection on first boot. It is in the EXt ROM on that device. I never selected anything but English so I don't know how complete it was.
There maybe a and OEM ROM out there with this built in... but if any chefs get their hands on it I am certain they will remove it and just release different versions with different languages.
Why waste all that space?
Later, Lew

Hi guys,
I tried a hard reset this morning and indeed nothing to choose.
So the comment of that guy is completely false.
Sorry to give some of us hope. :(
