I bought a 8GB SDHC Card. this is supported right off the bat in Kaiser.
But, in Win XP its not supported by default. MS has issued a Hotfix but its not easy to get to it. So i have attached the file here. (This is not working for me though but has worked for many. So YMMV.)
I also found a great tool for formatting these SDHC Cards as per spec. You can get it Here (http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html).. I have also attached it..

Thanks a lot for this, couldn't understand why my XP didn't show the SDHC card.
And even though my card is 4 GB, and the ms hotfix article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934428) says this trick is for cards BIGGER than 4 GB, it is now working just perfectly after installing the file provided in #1.

I can't figure this out. I have both V2 and V3 of this hotfix (V3 is posted below) and yet I can't make my 8gb Sandisk work in either my external USB card reader or my internal card reader. The card works fine in my HTC Titan w/ new rom update supporting SDHC cards. Anyone else experiencing this?
When the card is plugged in, Windows comes to a halt, hour-glasses sit and wait indefinitely, and immediately when I unplug the card everything returns to normal. I'm at a loss! Please help!

i have the same problem... just remove the card and windoze works properly..
my guess is that the SD Card bus that you have may not support this (THIS IS A GUESS)
works fine on vista without hotfix

I am making the assumption that you are using an SD Reader and not an SDHC Reader. My 6GB SanDisk SDHC card was not recognized until I purchased a SDHC reader. It works flawlessly on my Win XP Pro system now with the SDHC reader.

I have an 8gb Sandisk SDHC card. It works flawlessly with my Kaiser BUT it isn't recognised by my pc with XP. Sometimes it is but more often than not it isn't. It's really starting to bug me.
Yes, I have the v3 hotfix for XP and yes I have a SDHC card reader (the one that came with the card). Anyone have any good ideas as I am really at a lost??
One of the main reasons I bought the card was so I could transfer data to it via USB2. I can copy via the mini usb link on the kaiser through active sync but it is incredibly slow in comparison and just not practical.
Please if anyone has any ideas?

OT, kinda... when you need a HotFix you can't find, check out TheHotFix.net (http://www.thehotfix.net/) forums.

If youre using one of those or similar

it is almost a given that they fail.
I had and have whole bunch of them (SD and SDHC), they almost always come with all my cards ordered from Taiwan/China for as long as I can remember, and each one of them died on me within rather short time of use. IIRC one lasted as long as almost a year, but I am sure I didn't use it much, because I was fed up with all this crap and year ago I installed "multicard bay" that look like this

on my main machine and I haven't had a problem with any cards since.
(edit: I bought it specially at my local store for the purpose of having additional 3 year extended warranty for just extra $4 or so, now if it breaks or if some new "SDHC-EX" format will come out, I will just go to the store and get latest one ;) )

damn, thanks a lot, friends, i used to have this 4GB card which was not readable from my XP machine. I had to copy 2-3GB of data through activesync, taking 40 mins or so. now i can use it as a regular Storage device in my internal card reader. damn im happy now! :)
thanks

Update: I found a curious solution for my problem with the micro SD card not being recognised by my PC. What I do is reinsert it into the Kaiser, run Audio Manager, play an MP3 off the card and then importantly Exit Audio Manager. Then when I put the micro SD card into the PC it is recognised. This seems to work 90% of the time, first time round and 100% after 2 attempts. Before I found this little trick I repeated putting the card in an out of the reader as much as 10 times before giving up in failure.
The card reader I use is the one that came with the card, a Sandisk Mobimate. I also have installed the hotfix 3 for XP.
