[NEW] Touch QWERTY PCM Keyboard Skin

Here we go :D Touch QWERTY Keyboard for PCM Keyboard. It uses the same layout as my previous touch keyboard, whole symbol pad is fully integrated into it. Hold a key for 500ms to symbols beneath it. You can customize what is shown when you hold the key from the layout file.

Installation instructions
Install PCM Keyboard
Install the Cab
Select PCM Keyboard, then go into options
Select 4-Row-WWE in layout
Touch-QWERTY in skin
Soft Reset and you are ready to go NOTE: If you do not soft reset, some functions may not work.

You beat me to it :D I was working on the same skin and noticed this post. I tend to like a larger space bar and am used to using the pop up option or symbol pad for numbers, so I modified one of my iPhone layout files to work with this skin. These screen shots are your skin file with the Eng iphone 15 layout file (attached).

One thing to point out is you need to have clear type enabled in settings, system (tab), screen, ClearType (tab) in order for the text to display as shown.

Great :D your layout is easier on the fingers as the spacebar and symbols are larger. I only did a direct port on the keyboard from the touch keyboard/keypad. I've got an idea in making the touch qwerty layout more convenient :D will post up the layout in a bit. Also, 2manyphones, you might want to change the spacebar symbol pad to something more useful, or change the # of keys to 4 or 6. You will know why after you press and hold on the keyboard :D

EDIT: nvm what I said, for some reasons putting space in symbol pad isnt possible without another letter together with it. I'll modify the skin a little to make it more aesthetically pleasing with your layout.

Touch-XL-sym.skin = Shows Sym on mode button
Touch-XL-123.skin = Shows 123 on mode button

Thanks! I guess that does make more sense having the numbes pop up from a key labeled 123 instead of SYM. ;)

I want that CAB!! I have not installed the iphone layout on pcm, playing with your skin on it, will the cab auto install the new layout you have above?

yes, everything will be installed. There is a cab file in my rom thread that will install the skin and layout of the kb I made.

I have that cab installed (from the Rom thread) is there an option to put the keyboard into the iphone layout (ie make the letters bigger and get rid of the numbers)?

I love this. It's all I use now since the touch keyboard doesn't work properly on kaiser when xt9 is disabled. i like big buttons for my 1 thumb quick typing!

is it possible to get the "5R-wwe-sym layout" layout without the number row? I really like the popups for "http://" etc. Nice skin too, good work!

you guys put HTC to shame.. what a sh!tty keyboard they shipped.

so I bow, I salute.. you did a great job tthis and the PC Keyboard are a MUST have for anyone with the htc touch

If you're like me and:
- love qwerty
- hate having to hit the same key multiple times
- not stylus crazy. ( useful but not ALL the time )

then this is what you need. I installed and so far so good. The skin is so sweet it looks like ti shipped with HTC.

I'm no expert, this is the first thing I've "installed" imply copied to my documents and ran the PC keyboard, then I downloaded the skin and copied into the program files folder for PC Keyboard and I've been smiling since!!!

The Touch-QWERTY is working with standard PCM KB Russian layout, seem to be ok.
