AT&T Network question

I see on these threads were people are talking about what at&t network they are on, i see there is Edge, 3g and HSPDA, my question is which is the better network, I can basically get all 3, in the area were I live so I'm not sure whether I need an E, G, or H next to my reception bars, I was under the impression that HSPA was the best, then followed by 3g, then Edge, but i want to make sure, and is there any reason why you would want to be on one over the other? simply, you are correct about your order, it's connection speed, BUT, the faster the speed connection, the faster the battery drain. Read around here, many of us use a button in comm manager to keep the phone on Edge for best battery life unless hi speed is needed.
