Gene extrom unlocker [Archive]

Im write small programm to unlock and unhide extended rom partition on Gene.
DO NOT USE IT ON OTHER DEVICES
USE IT ON OWN RISK

Copy programm on your Gene and run it.
After the message on success reboot your device.
You will have folder Extended_Rom2 in which it is possible to copy
files and which will be will remain at hard reset.
Total space in ExtRom - 10 MB.

And what can I do with Ext ROm? if i delete some .. will it disappear forever?

I'd try to run it on my GENE, dopod D600, official from China Mobile.
and it didn't work.

ROM version: 1.2.706.10 CHS
ROM date: 11/30/06
Radio version: 02.71.90
Protocol version: 4.1.13.31

check that exist registry keys:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ ondisk2]
"bootphase"=dword:00000002
"DriverPath"="\Drivers\Builtin\ONDisk2"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\ ONDisk2]
"MountHidden"=dword:00000000

within my GENE, there is no such key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ ondisk2]

the other key exists, the attribute value is:
"MountHidden"=dword:00000001

what should I do?

Thanks for this.. but unfortunately running it made my 4gb sd card renamed from Storage Card to Storage Card2
so all my links are now broken :(

Tried and nothing happened to my course P3401 BR. Instaley gave Message unlock ok, more to resume remained locked.

Hey, this worked. I got Z_Card as the name of the new drive. As i am using my custom ROM with 4 MB of extrom, thats what i got but still its great!

How do you hard reset??
Turn off your Gene
Hold both the softkeys and press the power button. Do not let go of the softkeys until you see a text prompt that says everything will be deleted, now get rid of the softkeys and press the call button.

Thanks a million. Worked for me, like krazy got a Z card. The box which appeared, though had "Error" in title bar :D. But the content of the box was "Successful" and hey it was :).

Its not supposed to. Is there an extROM in Vox? Not sure. I have been to that forum for nearly 2 years. Never heard of it :D.

I have ran and it says everything is fine, but i still got my telecom logo, and when i insert a new chip it still asks me for a password for that how do i deal with that?

how do i install my own logo? .tsk file i think

Ext ROM is something entirely different.
Your Phone is SIM locked. To get it unlocked, you need to PM jockeyw2001 or tipusdin.
but remember IT IS NOT FREE

hey, it works well. but, when I go to check Memory details in settings it says NOT INSTALLED. but, I've got access to the files via file explorer.

Yeah it happens, I guess its a WinMo bug, it can detect only one SD Card. And the extROM works as a SDCard.

crap...crap..crap...it was a waste of time and storage.even i got my external rom unlocked.facing the same problem.my device is not recognizing my storage card.im not able to find out how much free memory it has.(offcourse from resco or file explorer i can have access to this.)

but still,is there anyway to delete the external rom? its of no use.

plus im not able to copy files to the ext rom.and in properties(opened in resco explorer) it is showing me 3.49mb total free space instead of 10mb.

the total size of GENE extrom is 10 Mb and whn u see u'll find some files and apps in the extrom, they occupies the space

As krazy explained earlier, we get only around 4MB extrom, as we all are acustomed to creating only 4mb extrom while cooking our ROM's, hence we get only 4mb. If we were using defualt or a ROM cooked keeping extrom at 10mb, we would have got 10MB as mentioned by orefkov.

Hope that explains your question.

no that doesnt actually, im not able to transfer files in external rom:(.its a total rubbish.can i get rid of it?.:confused:.my storage card is not getting detected because of it.

all these things should have been mentioned at the first post.:mad:

ok.im working on menu enhancements for gene.its almost been a month there is nothing new coming up from me.im busy too with some other work.will flash tomorrow.so lets see. :)

You can not get Rid of extrom in Gene, AFAIK. Actually this is the least size that you must allocate, any smaller and your Gene wont boot (as per krazy/ramersonw.... don't remember :confused:).
by default extrom has nothing in it, but you can install whatever you feel like in it.

OK i think its this purpose: files will remain at hard reset, Total space in ExtRom - 10 MB.

Gene must have a extrom partition. The default size is 10 mb, but for have more storage space we can reduce its size (minimium of 2mb for old gene and 4mb for new gene). To not waste this 2mb or 4mb, we could use it for customizations, like installing new themes, some programs, registry fixes, etc on first boot. To edit extrom you can use TFAT Image Editor.

i want 2 unlock the hidden partition & upgrade to WM6.5.
pl. suggest a way without breaking my gene.
Bcoz last time i try the old gene method which cost me a new "MOTHERBOARD"
