READ MORE TWEAKS AND TRICKS ON PAGES 19 and 44 of this thread !!!! Hello everyone , iam starting this thread becaus it wil be easy to gather all tweaks and tricks and softwares needed for htc polaris to make it more easy. This thread hould contains all the tweaks and HTC cab files or customisers for htc softwares i hoop that everyone agrees here with this thread !! DON'T USE Kaiser tweaks U WILL END UP HARD RESETING the device thats what some people here are saying so be careful !!! but below tricks won't do any harm except u will benefit from it !!

1. HTC random access manager :
to make it easy to scroll in contacts like that of iphone (alphabetical at the righet side of the screen) irst go to CONTACTS >>> menu >>> options >>> uncheck the show alphabetical index
and then do this tweak to also access t in dialer:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:M SCONTACTS]
"0"="Contacts"
"1"="RandomAccess.exe"

this tweak makes the random access possible to use also with the dialer. Some how after restarting the device the contacts random access will not be accessed so here is the solution copy Randomaccess.exe included as attachment in to the windows folder pof your device.

2. Use 6 Tabs with htc home :

You need to edit your registry to get our music tab back,

HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome

Add new string,

Tabsetting = 1,2,3,4,5,6

You can change the order of the numbers to sort the tabs how you like

1 = Clock tab
2 = Favorite People tab
3 = Weather tab
4 = Launcher tab
5 = Music tab
6 = Profiles tab

refresh the htc home to get the tabs u can do it by unchecking the today contects and then checking it and it will refresh and
people who missed the favorites home tab delete this registry key :

HKLM\Software\OEM\MASD\Quickdial

delete it an drefresh thats alll and u will get all the 6 tabs !!

3. Start Menu sound problem solved :

when u click at start menu it does not give a sound here is the cab to install and problem will be solved soft reset after installing see the attachements below

4. LG KS20 Menu for HTC Polaris !
see the picture below its menu today plugin from LG KS20 its really nice when u use it with today screen and ht home. To install it u need three things :
1) Remove the bottom bar:
Place dciNoBar.exe in \windows\startup folder and run it. This will remove the bottom bar like in the pic.

2) Install Spacer2 Today Plugin this will make space for the LG menu to be placed at the bottom of the today bar.

3) Install LG_Today Buttons

4) Configue Spacer2 Plugin in \Settings\Today\Items, click on Spacer2 n click options. Adjust Spacer Hight accordingly.

5. SRS WOW HD
improve your music with 3D effects, cnter effects and focus level also truBass included. This is a nice software more effective then htc audio booster. This sofware enables u to tweak audio with headphones r internal audio without headphones. Htc audio booster was only for headphones so enjoy some quality audio for your polaris.
instructions: download the srsWOW HD cab below and install it and then restart your device and go to seetings >>> System and choose WO HD settings

6. Vibrate the phone when u touch a key or open or close a prograam

we have seen in most devices that has vibration when opening or closing a prograam now we can do that with polaris. This file is .exe just copy it to your device and run it thats all and if you don't want it just execute it !! nice peace of sofware.

13. How to change the Long press keys and short press keys to any prograam u want:

we know that the Long pressing of RED call button brings us to HTC end key but there are other buttons that u can long press or short press to link it to a prograam u like like power button to use slide to unlock (S2U2).

Long_PTT.lnk (push to talk button+long press)
Long_End.lnk (the read key+long press)
Long_Send.lnk (the green key+long press)
Short_PTT.lnk (push to talk button)
Long_Power.lnk (Power button +long press)
Short_Power.lnk (Power button)

if u want to link any rograam u want to above buttons then just copy the .exe of that file and paste it as SHORTCUT and then rename it to above and after that put it to \Windows folder !!!! if u want S2U2 when u press power button then just go to file explorer and then to \Program Files\S2U2\s2u2.exe and copy and paste it as short cut and then rename it to Long_Power or Short_power and place it in \Windows folder. press power button and it will start s2u2 or press power for 2-3 seconds for long press and it will start s2u2. Its really easy if u cannot do it send the file name if i have it i can make them for u guys.

BONUS !!!!! Hey guys this will be agift for u all . There is two theme that i have made for the htc polaris. One is Htc audi manager GREEN version and the other one is an iphone version so i hoop that u all will like these two themes. The green them i have extracted files from Pdaviet ROM and then put them in CAB file. U can install and the uninstall with no problems and u can always come back to orignal htc audio manager theme. when u want to try the second theme first u should uninstall the first one u installed and then install the second one. Any way see the screen shots and below is the file that contains both the themes.

u can then add wisbar advance desktop or any other theme to go directly to the links u want its nice to have it for making themes !!

Based on the Advantage 7500 I'm sure it will be good. But of course Olipro's Hard-SPL unlocker also will be necessary. Right now his thread in this forum is just a placeholder. But for now, I can live with the ROM that came with the Polaris. Of course I don't know any better :)

20.Screen Rotation :
download the file below and install it it will have shortcuts to four rotation view and also u can add it to hard button u want it to be linked and the second one is standalone freeware that rotates the screen in 4 direction but everytime u must start the program to rotate it the first cab has the ability that the shortcut links do the job

To attach a program to a soft key:

HKey_current_user -> Software -> Microsoft -> Today -> Keys -112 (for left key) / 113 (for right key) -> Open (change the program to whatever you want)
In the key "Dafault" you can change the text for the soft-key.
HTC Action screen cab fixed:
use the cab file below and install it and restart it will solve the problem and to see the menu just LONG press the GREEN button (green call button) press it about 3-5 seconds and the menu will appear !!!

25.Commmanager FONTS messed up how to solve the problem :
Copy arial.ttf and tahoma.ttf fonts from your windows/fonts foldr of your pc to ppc windows/fonts folder. i have included mine with attachment below see if it works. Unzip fonts from attachment and copy these fonts to ppc Windos/Fonts folder and soft reset !! i have also made the cab file for u so u can also use that and see after soft reseting if the fonts are in windows/fonts folder or see if the commmanager fonts are changed

31. Performance tweaks:

Step by step guide dedicated to increase the performance of your HTC Touch Cruise.

1. Speedup Touchflo by increasing Frames Per Second
- HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch\

4. Disable Large startmenu
- Go to "Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Large Start Menu"
- Disable large startmenu by unchecking the box.

5. Disable the HTC Taskmanager
- Go to "Start -> Settings -> System -> Task Manager -> Button"
- Disable "Enable the "X" button to end running programs" by unchecking the box.
- Disable "Enable Quick Menu on Today screen" by unchecking the box.

6. Increase font cache
- To increase the font cache, speeding up font rendering at the cost of a bit of memory:
- HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 16384 or 32768 (DWORD decimal)
- To change it back to the default:
- HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 8192 (DWORD decimal)

7. Enable FileSystem cache
- To enable the FileSystem cache, speeding up overall performance at the risk of the cache not being written on a sudden reset:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 1 (DWORD decimal)
- To disable again:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Note that by default, the cache size is zero, and you will see no effect. See "Increase FileSystem cache" to incease the cache size.

8. Increase FileSystem cache
- To increase the file system cache:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
- To return the file system cache to zero:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)

9. Increase FileSystem filter cache
- To enable the file system filter cache, speeding up overall performance with file mangement:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\Rep lStoreCacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
- To return the file system filter cache to zero:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\Rep lStoreCacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)

10. Disable Menu Animation
- HKLM\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu, make sure the value of "AniType" is 0.
- This disables the menu animation which helps in speeding up the device.

11. Disable ClearType of screen fonts
- Go to "Start -> Settings -> Screen"
- Select the "ClearType" tab
- Disable "Enable ClearType" by unchecking the box.

12. Fix slow scrolling large webpages Pocket Internet Explorer
- By default Pocket Internet Explorer is very slow scrolling larger webpages due to rendering problems. This can be fixed by replacing the file called "webview.dll" in the "\Windows" sytemfolder with an older version. The attached CAB file puts the faster webview.dll in the windows folder. A softreset is needed after installation. (you can simply uninstall the patch by using the program manager and restore the webview.dll file to factory default)

13. Smooth video playback
For video playback buy Coreplayer (http://www.coreplayer.com/) 1.2.0 Qtv edition. This release does NOT fix the driver issue. However they have figured out the QTv video overlay API’s and are able to take advantage of them. Fixes in version 1.2.0 related to QTv:
- FIX: Qualcomm QTv / Camera issue
- ADD: Qualcomm QTv Hardware Overlay support
For converting DVD movies quickly take a look at CloneDVD Mobile (http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonedvd-mobile.html).

I wanted the date to be displayed to my liking and luckily I found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352193) in the Kasier discussing it so any credit should go to the posters of that thread.

How to change the date format on the Today to whatever you want, almost:

First what I had was 02/02/08 which is represented by the name SSDte (I think)*. If you have a long date like 02 February 2008 then it would be SLDte (I think)*.

Navigate to: HKLM\nls\overrides\

Edit or create new string:

Name: SSDte
Value: ddd, dd MMM yy --> Sat, 02 Feb 08 (what I have now)
or for example
dddd-dd MMMM-YYYY --> Saturday-02 February-2008 (you get the idea)

Restart and voila.

*I first created a string with a name of SLDte which didn't work so I deleted it and created another with the name SSDte and it worked.

Email and SMS/MMS are almost the same, swipe left or right in the inbox and you can easily switch between the two. So I changed one of them to File Explorer and renamed the other Messaging. 'File Explorer' leads to Resco Explorer, which is a great application that isn't included in the default Polaris system, so you'll have to buy and install it first if you want to use this specific tweak. I also tried to link to the default Explorer, but launch path \windows\fexplore.exe did not work properly

Since the Polaris comes with the superior internetbrowser Opera Mobile, I hardly use Internet Explorer. I hardly use tasks (which is a function of calendar anyway) so I changed IE's globe icon to link to Google Maps (does not come standard, get it here: http://www.google.com/gmm) and the 'Tasks' link to launch Opera (I still need to add two more appropriate icons for that).

Here's the registry tweaks. You can use PHM Registry Explorer for that, but be careful. The registry is a dangerous place to go and change stuff if you don't know what you're doing.

Left top:

Since the Polaris has an easy on/off switch I stopped using the S2U2 slide lock. However, I missed the large and elegant clock. The HTC Home plugin has a clock, but it's quite bulky, and I find the plugin a bit awkward in daily use. Using the free rltoday (http://rotlaus-software.de/projects/rltoday) home plugin I tried to recreate the S2U2 lock's clock. Here's my first attempt.

Nope, I think it would be hard to make that perform the same way as on the Comm manager screen, because the target depends on the bluetooth state and you have two different links. Maybe there is a 'toggle' funtion for that. Perhaps you could find out how to address it in the Comm Manager registry settings (no idea where to find those).

Yes the .tsk file is not part of the rltoday skin, just added in for people who want to recreate the screenshot.

The backdrop in the XML should be semi-transparent black. So if you're using this skin on a black background, it wouldn't be visible, and it would still be useful for reading the small text if you'd want to temporarily use a different background or mobile theme -however I'm not 100% sure if the 'black' might have been very dark gray. If so, you can delete the part you mentioned from the xml file.

Have fun playing around with rltoday, and keep us posted on your tweaks ;)

If one of you is adventurous, backup your stuff and try all the different tweaks from KaiserTweak. Most tweaks are WM6 and/or HTC specific, not Kaiser specific.

If someone is going to do this, please report in the KaiserTweak which tweaks do and don't work, so we can integrate it.

Many of you may already know about this, but it was new to me and maybe someone else may find this useful. Freestyl is a replacement for your UI that takes the good stuff from iPhone and ports it to WM. It runs on Adobe Flash Lite and the Microsoft .Net framework (.Net is already present in Polaris rom - no need to download it separately, but you will need to get Adobe.)

rltoday is a simple .cab installer. Put the cab file on your mobile (via activesync explorer or bluetooth beam) and locate it using your mobile explorer. Click the file and it will install rltoday on your device. After that you can switch rltoday on and off through the settings/personal/today 'items' tab.

Of course that's only the beginning and you can go and and on downloading and tweaking rltoday themes.



I haven't tried Blue Dialer.

The XML file is not the problem. I have already edited it and added my place ;)
The problem is when you access Accuweather through HTC (like it does now), you will not get access to all cities.

I did however find a solution to this that allowed me to get it working;

You will need to install the SDK Certificates and then run your HTCTouch.dll-file through the N2A Universal Patch Package found on the page. This generates a .cab file that you just need to install on your phone.

Read the directions listed for each tweak. If the directions include making changes to a particular registry entry, then you need to get yourself a registry editor (there are a ton of them out there, free and commercial).

To perform a hard reset

2.In the Menu, select Account Options and select Switch Accounts. This will remove all emails from your device.

I like TouchFlo. However, certain apps like PhatPad which I use don't behave well with it. So I would like to exclude certain apps from TouchFlo. I could do this with fTouchFlo by editing a config file. However, I don't know how to do this with TouchFlo and a search didn't find anything. Is there a tweak or trick to do this? Email and SMS/MMS are almost the same, swipe left or right in the inbox and you can easily switch between the two. So I changed one of them to File Explorer and renamed the other Messaging. 'File Explorer' leads to Resco Explorer, which is a great application that isn't included in the default Polaris system, so you'll have to buy and install it first if you want to use this specific tweak. I also tried to link to the default Explorer, but launch path \windows\fexplore.exe did not work properly

Since the Polaris comes with the superior internetbrowser Opera Mobile, I hardly use Internet Explorer. I hardly use tasks (which is a function of calendar anyway) so I changed IE's globe icon to link to Google Maps (does not come standard, get it here: http://www.google.com/gmm) and the 'Tasks' link to launch Opera (I still need to add two more appropriate icons for that).

Here's the registry tweaks. You can use PHM Registry Explorer for that, but be careful. The registry is a dangerous place to go and change stuff if you don't know what you're doing.

Left top:

Since the Polaris has an easy on/off switch I stopped using the S2U2 slide lock. However, I missed the large and elegant clock. The HTC Home plugin has a clock, but it's quite bulky, and I find the plugin a bit awkward in daily use. Using the free rltoday (http://rotlaus-software.de/projects/rltoday) home plugin I tried to recreate the S2U2 lock's clock. Here's my first attempt.

When Dialing and phoning, I don't want the screen to be switched off (like sleep mode) just 5 to 10 sec after iniating the call (despite all settings parameters I set up).
Very annoying especialy when you have to dial some numbers if a vocal responder asking you ....

I wanted the date to be displayed to my liking and luckily I found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352193) in the Kasier discussing it so any credit should go to the posters of that thread.

How to change the date format on the Today to whatever you want, almost:

First what I had was 02/02/08 which is represented by the name SSDte (I think)*. If you have a long date like 02 February 2008 then it would be SLDte (I think)*.

Navigate to: HKLM\nls\overrides\

Edit or create new string:

Name: SSDte
Value: ddd, dd MMM yy --> Sat, 02 Feb 08 (what I have now)
or for example
dddd-dd MMMM-YYYY --> Saturday-02 February-2008 (you get the idea)

Restart and voila.

*I first created a string with a name of SLDte which didn't work so I deleted it and created another with the name SSDte and it worked.

Hope it is of any benefit.

Is this specific to TouchFlo, TouchFlo and TouchCube, or does it increase the sensitivity for all screen presses?

I'm hoping the last is true because I'd like to be able to compensate for the slight loss of sensitivity due to the screen protector. The fact that the registry key has "Touchpanel" in the name and not just something like "TouchFlo" makes me think this is a global setting.

It should do it automatically. It did on my Treo 750. What I would do is reinstall the app and then do a soft reset. See if that does the trick.

I don't think so. If the SIP icon doesn't show itself in the application then there's not much you can do. I am trying out Vito's FunContact (I have tried PocketCM) and it too forces a t9-type search keypad.

This is not a bug :) It a FEATURE :cool: I was really tired of accidentaly launching some heavy GPS apps like Navigon on my P3300 all the time during calls and ended up removing all of them from the today screen. I even had a case when i managed to launch 5 different apps during a single call :rolleyes: You can switch the display on during calls with a short press on the power button, so you can still comunicate freely with automated systems.

Hi, AGPS worked for me like a charm. I just enable AGPS in register. I let server regkey (with ip). I'm in france (Orange)

thanks, but i dont think so. ive read this before from ppl in france and the original ip was a french server too, i think ... but this at least kind of confirms my suspicions that everything is working ok were it not for the server settings. i gueas the service is either country or network operator bound.

anyone know a list of agps server addresses for different countries, operators or brands? perhaps even open servers?

Just newbie with Cruise and WM6.

I wonder if it is a failure from my device or a bug, plz confirm ....
When Dialing and phoning, I don't want the screen to be switched off (like sleep mode) just 5 to 10 sec after iniating the call (despite all settings parameters I set up).
Very annoying especialy when you have to dial some numbers if a vocal responder asking you ....

Is there any tweak ? (French HTC support don't know at all)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the bluetooth turning off everytime I turn the screen off? I've done a search & nosed through the registry but can't find anything.

I use an a2dp headset with my polaris and it still works when i turn off the screen
That's a strange behavior, maybe your device is faulty or you messed up with some parameter somewhere.
Did you try with a headset or is it with another protocol?

Same here, A2DP headset and no problems with bluetooth on screen off.


Do you use S2U2? I don't anymore, but I remember bluetooth stereo problems with my Artemis, in combination with S2U2. In S2U2's settings there's an entry which allows you to choose between several 'screen off' states. One of them put every running task to sleep, which interfered with music playback to my headphones.

I'm finding the keyboards very infuriating on the O2 Orbit 2 (HTC Polaris), however, when I connected to wifi I found the keyboard I want to use - it's a full querty keyboard with 40 keys, but you can only use it when entering the wifi network key - why can't I use this all the time?

Someone please find a tweak/reg key for this.

But I was asking how to disable task "activesync" always running onto the cruise. Even if I close it, it reappears a few time later as an active task, even if I'm not connected to the PC (so it can be a waste of memory, you know).

(I understood LSPvlaue.reg is used to gain internet access from the PC via USB and it works fine, but it was not my primary concern, you know ...)

to get better touchFLO sensitivity and then I Calibrated display and check the registry again and the number was not the same

You can select the SIP (Sofware Input Panel) of your preference yourself. In the bottom bar of the screen you'll the SIP icon which pops up the keyboard. When popped up, there's a small arrow to the right of the icon, click it and you can choose between every SIP type that's installed on your device. It sounds like you prefer the WM6 default 'keyboard' layout over HTC's 20 or 16 key panels.

The default choice will reset every time you restart your device. If you want to get rid of any SIP altogether search XDA dev, tips shouldn't be hard to find.

ah I know what you mean. Full QWERTY plus numbers but quite narrow keys. No idea why that version forces itself to the front in some cases, and cannot be selected manually. It looks like a bug to me, I can't see the point of not offering the default keyboards in those situations.

I think you can use Default input method, I found a cab file here "SIPchange.cab" to force a choosen default keyboard ....

To keep Active Sync from popping up at different times for no apparent reason:
You will need to go into the registry.
1.Download any program TASK Manager/Resco Explorer/Memaid etc.
2.Find the NOTIFICATIONS menu (or Notified Programs).
3.Find <repllog.exe> it will have several types listed. Find the one that says<AppRunAfterTimeChange>
4.Highlight this prompt.
5.You will need to Disable this. The only time Activesync should start now is when you sync to your PC.

Copy arial.ttf and tahoma.ttf fonts from your windows/fonts foldr of your pc to ppc windows/fonts folder. i have included mine with attachment below see if it works. Unzip fonts from attachment and copy these fonts to ppc Windos/Fonts folder and soft reset !! i have also made the cab file for u so u can also use that and see after soft reseting if the fonts are in windows/fonts folder or see if the commmanager fonts are changed

31. Performance tweaks:

Step by step guide dedicated to increase the performance of your HTC Touch Cruise.

1. Speedup Touchflo by increasing Frames Per Second
- HKLM\Software\HTC\Biotouch\Biotouch\
- Change "DownFPS", "LightFPS" and "UpFPS" from default 15 to 60
- Change "LeftRightFPS" in 60

2. Increase Touchflo sensitivity
- HKLM\software\OEM\TFLOSettings\FingerPressure
- Change from default 2908 to 10892

3. Better Touchflo scrolling
- HKLM\Drivers\Touchpanel\PressureThreshold
- Change from default 18866 to 19866, 20866 or 40866. Makes the scroll better.

4. Disable Large startmenu
- Go to "Start -> Settings -> Personal -> Large Start Menu"
- Disable large startmenu by unchecking the box.

5. Disable the HTC Taskmanager
- Go to "Start -> Settings -> System -> Task Manager -> Button"
- Disable "Enable the "X" button to end running programs" by unchecking the box.
- Disable "Enable Quick Menu on Today screen" by unchecking the box.

6. Increase font cache
- To increase the font cache, speeding up font rendering at the cost of a bit of memory:
- HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 16384 or 32768 (DWORD decimal)
- To change it back to the default:
- HKLM\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\limit = 8192 (DWORD decimal)

7. Enable FileSystem cache
- To enable the FileSystem cache, speeding up overall performance at the risk of the cache not being written on a sudden reset:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 1 (DWORD decimal)
- To disable again:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\EnableCache = 0 (DWORD decimal)
Note that by default, the cache size is zero, and you will see no effect. See "Increase FileSystem cache" to incease the cache size.

8. Increase FileSystem cache
- To increase the file system cache:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
- To return the file system cache to zero:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS\CacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)

9. Increase FileSystem filter cache
- To enable the file system filter cache, speeding up overall performance with file mangement:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\Rep lStoreCacheSize = 4096 (DWORD decimal)
- To return the file system filter cache to zero:
- HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt\Rep lStoreCacheSize = 0 (DWORD decimal)

10. Disable Menu Animation
- HKLM\SYSTEM\GWE\Menu, make sure the value of "AniType" is 0.
- This disables the menu animation which helps in speeding up the device.

11. Disable ClearType of screen fonts
- Go to "Start -> Settings -> Screen"
- Select the "ClearType" tab
- Disable "Enable ClearType" by unchecking the box.

12. Fix slow scrolling large webpages Pocket Internet Explorer
- By default Pocket Internet Explorer is very slow scrolling larger webpages due to rendering problems. This can be fixed by replacing the file called "webview.dll" in the "\Windows" sytemfolder with an older version. The attached CAB file puts the faster webview.dll in the windows folder. A softreset is needed after installation. (you can simply uninstall the patch by using the program manager and restore the webview.dll file to factory default)

13. Smooth video playback
For video playback buy Coreplayer (http://www.coreplayer.com/) 1.2.0 Qtv edition. This release does NOT fix the driver issue. However they have figured out the QTv video overlay API’s and are able to take advantage of them. Fixes in version 1.2.0 related to QTv:
- FIX: Qualcomm QTv / Camera issue
- ADD: Qualcomm QTv Hardware Overlay support

I wanted the date to be displayed to my liking and luckily I found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=352193) in the Kasier discussing it so any credit should go to the posters of that thread.

How to change the date format on the Today to whatever you want, almost:

First what I had was 02/02/08 which is represented by the name SSDte (I think)*. If you have a long date like 02 February 2008 then it would be SLDte (I think)*.

Navigate to: HKLM\nls\overrides\

Edit or create new string:

Name: SSDte
Value: ddd, dd MMM yy --> Sat, 02 Feb 08 (what I have now)
or for example
dddd-dd MMMM-yyyy --> Saturday-02 February-2008 (you get the idea)

Restart and voila.

*I first created a string with a name of SLDte which didn't work so I deleted it and created another with the name SSDte and it worked. the y should be in small letters

To keep Active Sync from popping up at different times for no apparent reason:
You will need to go into the registry.
1.Download any program TASK Manager/Resco Explorer/Memaid etc.
2.Find the NOTIFICATIONS menu (or Notified Programs).
3.Find <repllog.exe> it will have several types listed. Find the one that says<AppRunAfterTimeChange>
4.Highlight this prompt.
5.You will need to Disable this. The only time Activesync should start now is when you sync to your PC.

I tried the LG today plugin yesterday. It's good. However, how can I configure it so that the menu bar can "stick" to the bottom of the screen? No matter how long my calender occupies the space.

Is there a registry value or similar which can be changed for sound notifications on the Polaris.

I notice that a sound notification is often quieter than if i play the same sound file through Windows Media Player on the PDA.

Obvioulsy within the "Sounds and Notifications" options, there is no option to change the volume.

The main volume is set to maximum is by the way.

I have a small problem here. I used this tweak to open Favorites tab:

"people who missed the favorites home tab delete this registry key :

It showed up on my HTC home, i can add people to my favorite list, but when i press on any tab in that list, it doesn't dial it. I have to long tap on it, and then choose "Call". Does anyone know the path to make the cube defaults video player go to windows media? Also, trying to get the forth side up. I can't follow the directions it says. It tells you to use flashlite and change the up and down in the text file, but I don't see anyway to change the values. Maybe I should just do it the hard way.

Hello everyone , iam starting this thread becaus it wil be easy to gather all tweaks and tricks and softwares needed for htc polaris to make it more easy. This thread hould contains all the tweaks and HTC cab files or customisers for htc softwares i hoop that everyone agrees here with this thread !! DON'T USE Kaiser tweaks U WILL END UP HARD RESETING the device thats what some people here are saying so be careful !!! but below tricks won't do any harm except u will benefit from it !!

1. HTC random access manager :
to make it easy to scroll in contacts like that of iphone (alphabetical at the righet side of the screen) irst go to CONTACTS >>> menu >>> options >>> uncheck the show alphabetical index
and then do this tweak to also access t in dialer:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:M SCONTACTS]
"0"="Contacts"
"1"="RandomAccess.exe"

this tweak makes the random access possible to use also with the dialer. Some how after restarting the device the contacts random access will not be accessed so here is the solution copy Randomaccess.exe included as attachment in to the windows folder pof your device.

2. Use 6 Tabs with htc home :

You need to edit your registry to get our music tab back,

HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCHome

Add new string,

Tabsetting = 1,2,3,4,5,6

You can change the order of the numbers to sort the tabs how you like

1 = Clock tab
2 = Favorite People tab
3 = Weather tab
4 = Launcher tab
5 = Music tab
6 = Profiles tab

refresh the htc home to get the tabs u can do it by unchecking the today contects and then checking it and it will refresh and
people who missed the favorites home tab delete this registry key :

HKLM\Software\OEM\MASD\Quickdial

delete it an drefresh thats alll and u will get all the 6 tabs !!

3. Start Menu sound problem solved :

when u click at start menu it does not give a sound here is the cab to install and problem will be solved soft reset after installing see the attachements below

4. LG KS20 Menu for HTC Polaris !
see the picture below its menu today plugin from LG KS20 its really nice when u use it with today screen and ht home. To install it u need three things :
1) Remove the bottom bar:
Place dciNoBar.exe in \windows\startup folder and run it. This will remove the bottom bar like in the pic.

2) Install Spacer2 Today Plugin this will make space for the LG menu to be placed at the bottom of the today bar.

3) Install LG_Today Buttons

4) Configue Spacer2 Plugin in \Settings\Today\Items, click on Spacer2 n click options. Adjust Spacer Hight accordingly.

5. SRS WOW HD
improve your music with 3D effects, cnter effects and focus level also truBass included. This is a nice software more effective then htc audio booster. This sofware enables u to tweak audio with headphones r internal audio without headphones. Htc audio booster was only for headphones so enjoy some quality audio for your polaris.
instructions: download the srsWOW HD cab below and install it and then restart your device and go to seetings >>> System and choose WO HD settings

6. Vibrate the phone when u touch a key or open or close a prograam

we have seen in most devices that has vibration when opening or closing a prograam now we can do that with polaris. This file is .exe just copy it to your device and run it thats all and if you don't want it just execute it !! nice peace of sofware.

13. How to change the Long press keys and short press keys to any prograam u want:

we know that the Long pressing of RED call button brings us to HTC end key but there are other buttons that u can long press or short press to link it to a prograam u like like power button to use slide to unlock (S2U2).

Long_PTT.lnk (push to talk button+long press)
Long_End.lnk (the read key+long press)
Long_Send.lnk (the green key+long press)
Short_PTT.lnk (push to talk button)
Long_Power.lnk (Power button +long press)
Short_Power.lnk (Power button)

if u want to link any rograam u want to above buttons then just copy the .exe of that file and paste it as SHORTCUT and then rename it to above and after that put it to \Windows folder !!!! if u want S2U2 when u press power button then just go to file explorer and then to \Program Files\S2U2\s2u2.exe and copy and paste it as short cut and then rename it to Long_Power or Short_power and place it in \Windows folder. press power button and it will start s2u2 or press power for 2-3 seconds for long press and it will start s2u2. Its really easy if u cannot do it send the file name if i have it i can make them for u guys.

Also a proud TC owner here. I've got the UK version, with the Dutch library enabled. I'm using the Touch Keypad with XT9, but when suggestions come up and I choose one of the above, a space is entered behind the word automaticly. How can I get rid of this space?

The option 'Add a space after word' is already disabled in the 'Word completion' tab. Any suggestions?

I wonder how to reisntall all apps I had before, because some were installed onto micro SD card, others with installshield from the PC...
Shall I have to overwrite onto the SD card, or to backup it first onto a directory on the PC, then to install again on the blank card, then to manually copy specials apps like Tomtom and the maps ... I'm afraid to loose tomtom fonctionnality (as I installed it with Tomtom home from the PC ..)

whenever i do an upgrade i reinstall all applications applications which i had in sd card or main storage and it overwrites them and for tomtom all maps are in sd card so if u reinstall tomtom it will show the maps from sd card i had no problems with tomtom. u can always use this cab of tomtom i always use it with no problem:

its in english but i don't have any usb problem try it see if this also solves the problem using this cab i had no problems i have used it all the time

here was written how to change folder to saving pictures. (from DCIM to My documents on the card)

But my problem is, that after you push "Photogallery" in Touch Cube, its offering My Device/My documents/My pictures

Is it possible to set up way to storage card?

Yes I find this very annoying as well.

I would like to be able to browse the system for videos and photos and not be restricted to the default location of the onboard memory.

There has to be a way to change the default location to the storage card.
