Hi.
After some changes It seems the new version of bandswitch is compatible with HTC Polaris. Bandswitch is used to swith from 2g and 3g quickly with only one click, enabling to save bettery keeping in 2g and using 3g when needed.

:) Nice
I couldnt test it on this device because I dont own one but It seems the system to change the band is the same than kaiser, instead of Hermes....So I ve modified it to behave like if It detects the device is kaiser...

i got a problem, when people try to reach me they automatically get my voice mail (in normal phone settings) i also have problems calling myself (stops a few times and then after trying again suddenly connects). same with messages long delays in receiving and sending...
after setting the band to GSM they can reach me but i have the idea that i cant use 3g????
is there a problem with the phones function t switch between 2g and 3g and do i need this app (bandswitch) for it or is there something with my phone or my opperator-settings?

Hi.
It is operator issues. I have same problem here in Spain with Vodafone. But this problem doesnt happen with Movistar. Being in 2g, if gprs is connected AND there is data flow in that moment then if someone call me it appears as phone turned off. Some friends of mine are telecomunication eng. in vodafone and says Its the sw version of the system, but not related with the pda or its configuration.

ok, thnx
sw version of the system? (do u mean software..)
but is there something my operator can do so it works or must i keep on switching myself in my phone settings?
or do u suggest to use bandswitch?

yes,software.
HTC roms allows to change the band but the process is slows(many clicks). Because of this bandswitch was borned. In fact if you see the first post (in hermes forum) I was searching for a today plugin to switch quickly the band. I didnt find any and I developed this tool. Other operator rom doesnt provide a way to switch the band. Why? I suppose 3G generates more data traffic and more meney for telcos so they fix their devices to 2G. SO you have to use other tools (like bandswitch or commmgrpro) to change the band.

Hello Daniel,
Should V2.5 work with a Cruise that uses the Murata radio?

I dont know that ROM. Today will be out V2.6 beta. In this version I ve changed the way to manage connections because some devices (htc touch, samsung i780) doesnt implement correctly some RAS functions so I hope management connections works for these devices too..

Its a beta.
Connection management didnt work correctly on this device because a known problem in some RAS API functions didnt implemented.
http://www.commmgrpro.com/CommMgrPro/files/BandSwitch.V2.6.cab
Changes:
1) Connections management(Stablish, close) has been replaced with IpHelper API so It should work with HTC Touch, Samsung i780 and others. Can you test it?. It would be nice if It was tested with currently working devices (tynt, hermes, ....) and not working devices (touch).
2) Keyboard appears automatically on license and text controls.
3) Unsintall process backed up registry settings to other registry place. It was causing in some devices error uninstalling. It has been solved. When you install old version It can cause error but continues with the installing process.
Greetings.

Hey Daniel!
I turned off the Speaker for 30 Minutes with the switcher. After that the speakerbutton shows "Speaker off".
And after a softreset the UMTS GSM Buttons show automatic, but i switched to GSM permanently.
So far

Thanks Frank
When bs is shown the auto button is always focused because Its the first one but it doesnt mean the device is in auto mode. Look at the tray icon. g means gprs. a means auto, etc. I will take a look again to the speaker
Thanks!!

Once any version of bandswitch you ve 15 days to use it. The countdown doesnt stop even if you install other version. I will do a separate system for betas that doesnt watch if there was any other version installed some time...

Hey Daniel!
I just installed your new version and it works fine, the button behavior is fixed and i found no errors whit switching 2G/3G, speaker WiFi or BT.
All fine so far, but the beta expires in three days... ;)

Daniel, thanks so much for the program! I used it to check different ROM's and make sure that they were getting 3G and HSDPA connections as Radio 1.65.14.06 refused to 'do' 3G!
Anyway, for anybody looking for good UMTS in Europe (Germany), I can recommend "1.65.20.29 RadioCustomRUU".
I have only one problem with BandSwitch... when using my Kaiser (TyTN II) in UMTS HSDPA "H" mode, BandSwitch incorrectly reports the connection as "Type:GSM" on the About Page. If I switch off HSDPA and soft reset, the phone correctly shows "3G" instead of "H" and the About Page correctly reports "Type:UMTS".
Probably just needs checking for another case in the code...?

hehe, I must recognized I ve read the source code to check it. Fortunately the code is correct so It must be a problem of Microsoft API:
switch(dwSystemType) {
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_NONE:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("None"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_IS95A:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("IS95A"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_IS95B:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("IS95B"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_1XRTTPACKET:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("1XRTTPACKET"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_GSM:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("GSM"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_GPRS:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("GPRS"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_EDGE:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("NoneEDGE"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_1XEVDOPACKET:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("1XEVDOPACKET"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_1XEVDVPACKET:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("1XEVDVPACKET"));
break;
case RIL_SYSTEMTYPE_UMTS:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("UMTS"));
break;
default:
wsprintf(szSystemType, TEXT("Other(%d)"), dwSystemType);
break;
};
So probably Windows doesnt recognize HSDPA natively.......:eek:

I'm in the US on AT&T, and have had this issue with a Tytn before. When in 2G and moving into 3G while traveling the system does not automatically reconnect and shows the phone as unavailable. The same for releasing from 3G to 2G and with Data calls. I've complained to AT&T Presidents office, spoken with field techs and I get the same answer: since the full system is not 3G capable, downgrade to 2G or the problem will continue. However with the cahnges made nearby to cell sites and software by AT&T this is happing less often, and is better on my Polaris.

Hi from France, Daniel
It's very easy to use. For wifi, is there a possibility to chose the ssid I want to connect on ?

Well, not by now. Only turn on/off. I am thinking about increase Bandswitch features but I dont want to convert it in a heavy program so maybe I am going to do what I did with CommMgrPro. Each new feature will be deployed on a new DLL (if Its heavy) and this file only will be loaded on memory when the user needs it, unloading it when the users has finished the operation.....
So suggestion like yours are very wellcome :D

Hi,
My operator is Movistar in Argentina and I have a similar issue but different.
If I put band detection in automatic it doesn't work fine. There are some places that I can use 3G band and there some others that gsm band works fine.
If I use 3G network as default and switch to gsm when 3G netword doesn't work, my phone works fine but I cannot find any working configuration without user interaction.
Any idea?
