One thing that I am confused by, is the fact that when I first set up the unlocked phone, I was able to get the local weather forecast on the home screen, when I now click the refresh it, it tells me that I have no connection to GPRS or 3G! Maybe I changed something in my excitement?

Should sent this to another thread. Just check under settings>phone>band and select your network type. 3G will be selected if in auto mode.

2)Delete .nbh file from "flash-hardspl-niki" directory.

3)Put one of hardspl to "flash-hardspl-niki" directory.
(Hardspl-1.16-nike or Hardspl-1.15mfg-nike)

4)REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!

5)Connect usb cable

6)Copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be
connected!)

7)After a few seconds "USB" appears on the display

8)Unplug and replug the usb cable

9)You can now flash the hardspl by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from "flash-hardspl-niki" directory

Hi Guys

I own Nike200 SPL-1.18.000 CPLD-4 for the last 3 weeks I was trying to unlock my nike200 i flowed the instruction copied sspl-1.16-nike.exe to my device and run it,
unplug and replug the usb cable
the screen with the three colour with the new SPL 1.6 after i restart the device i get the old SPL 1.8

Please Help each time i try to flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe it fails

hi i was trying to install a new rom on htc touch dual but it went wrong and i dont have any cd from t mobile or backup.
First I installed a US rom and it went and work well...after this i was trying to install a rom downloaded the from the htc web site but i made someting and it all went wrong...
now im stuck in the RGB screen...and i cant install a new rom.
can anybody help me or give me some advice?

hi, i have a t mobile rom and made all the steps...but nothing....can it be because of windows vista?
i also own a htc touch and i never had problems in vista...i even managed to install a US rom on my Htc dual...the problem only started when i was installing another rom....what i see is:

I also note that you do not have HardSPL. Is the phone unlocked? If not, then it will not work with ROMS other than T-mobile.

I'm trying to update my NIKI100. I recently upgraded it with the official HTC WM6.1 ROM. I'm having a couple of issues with that particular version and I find it rather unstable compared to the previous and default WM6 ROM.

Anyway... I don't seem to be able to upgrade it with a newer ROM nor Radio.
When I try to load one of the newer Kitchen ROMs, I get the boatloader USB screen and then it switches over to the gray progress bar screen... but it remains at 0% (both on the device and the PC). After a while, I get the "ERROR [206]: UPDATE ERROR" msg.

I also followed the flash procedure in this thread but when I run sspl-1.16-nike.exe on the device, I first get the boatloader USB screen but then it automatically switches to a gray screen with a blue "Loading..." and then it just seems to hang.

Once I get the battery out and in, I can start up again without any issues... but still with the same ROM and Radio.

I'm using a carrier-free HTC Neon (NIKI100).
ROM version: 2.09.405.1
Radio version: 1.65.28.25
Protocol version: 25.98.40.07H
SPL 1.22
CPLD 4

When you see any of these error messages, close other running programs on the computer and run RUU again.

When I take a look at the process list, I also don't see anything strange running that consumes alot of memory.

In fact when I try to load a new Radio or ROM on my Niki100, I get a 262 error. When I run the jockyw2001 Niki SuperCID and Security Unlocker v0.1, I get also get a 262 error on my PC. On the PDA, I just keep seeing a 0% progress bar.

Any other suggestions?

Hi guys here is a hard spl based on 1.22. My device was SuperCID and security unlocked when I used this so I do not use this at the moment if your device is not SuperCID. I have only tested this on a NIKI100 device.

Sorry about the lack of details but thought you guys would like this as soon as possible and I'm late for work.

Follow the instruction from the first post of this thread but use the attached zip file instead.

Thanks goes to Pof, Des, olipro, jockywoo and viperdjk who have provided the information to make this hardspl possible.
Also thanks to Midget_1990 for his work on the custom RUU ROM updater.

This hardspl is based upon the changes made to the 1.16 shipped spl to make it a hard spl and so I really didn't discover any work, I just ported the changes.



Anyway I better go - only flash this if you know what your doing.

Problem solved.
Should do what's mentioned in the instructions and also replace your SD card.
After that everything worked like a charm.

When the phone is in bootloader screen (tricolor), and usb is listed, it is connected to your PC, and waiting for further instructions. You can proceed to flashing.

Activesync will not connect to the bootloader screen.

rling i'll try to help you helping me, by explaining my problems the best way i can.

I copy the file "sspl-1.16-nike.exe" to my HTC, execute it and screen goes like this:

If i unplug the usb cable and replug it, i don't get any communication error when i run "ROMUpdateUtility.exe". (but the active sync icon goes grey right after disconnecting the usb cable and doesn't go green when i replug it.) Despite the fact i'm not getting communication errors, i'm not able to flash "hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh" (I have the file with that exact same name, on folder "flash-hardspl-niki" where "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" is. Here goes a few screenshoots of what's happening:

The last posted screen is how it should be before it starts flashing. The flashing process should take a couple of minutes, and you will see the bar progress through the percentages.

Even if you are flashing the same ROM, the entire process is repeated.

You will get a far quicker flash if you are flashing only a radio or splash screen.

The entire ROM package (the .nbh file ) can range from around the 60mb to 130mb in size.

If you are just starting out, best try with official ROMs first until you get the hang of things. For these, you need to go to HTC website, and download the files from there, after entering you Device serial number etc. This is the only way to be certain that the ROM downloaded is meant for your phone.

These files have not been packaged as well as they could.

If you want to flash a particular file, eg HardSPL-1.15mfg-nike.nbh, then you need to copy that file into the Flash-HardSPL-Niki folder, and deleting the other .nbh file(s) in that folder. Each folder can only have one .nbh file, or it will flash the first one it finds.

And the flashing takes a very short time - seconds only.

Hard spl 1.15mfg-nike.nbh needs a program called CustomRUU.exe (or RomUpdateUtility.exe) to flash it to the ROM. the package in first page only has the .nbh, and not the exe to flash it.

It is run on the PC, with your phone connected.

CustomRUU will drop your phone to bootloader screen and then flash the SPL. It is also used to flash ROMs and radios.

Larian, here is how to run HardSPL-1.15mfg-nike.nbh (its an expansion of step 8 from 1st post):
-download flash-uspl-niki
-extract it
-replace the *.nbh file in the flash-uspl-niki folder with Hardspl1.15mfg-nike.nbh
-run romupdateutility.exe
It's as simple as that. I had the same problem but someone has posted this solution way back in this topic.

HardSPL 1.15 and 1.16 are used for older ROMs with the older drivers.

When HTC released their Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM for the Touch, they made a few changes, and it needs SPL 1.22 to work properly.

All the latest phones also need SPL 1.22. As my ROM is based on the yet to be released Iolite from HTC, you will need the newer SPL for it.

Activesync will not connect in Bootloader mode (The 3 colour screen). If you look on the phone, you will see the words USB on it. If so, then the phone is ready to start flashing.

Thanks rling. As I'm a complete noob at this I'm still a bit confused. I followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread. I now have an updated rom running. Hopefully it will work ok. My next task is to change the radio as I'm running 1.58.16.27. I'm on the Orange network and feel my reception is pretty poor. I'm hoping if I upgrade the radio it may give me a slightly better reception. So I tried to upgrade the radio to 1.58.23.25. I done this the same way as changing the rom. Is this correct? Because when I done it, it froze at 99%. I read somewhere that my CID is still locked. If so how do I go about this. Thanks again.

With HardSPL in place, the SPL is write protected. You can flash any ROM you want, including the official HTC WM 6.1

If you want to return the phone for warranty work, and want to erase your tracks, then you can flash SSPL first, and then reflash official SPL or just the official WM 6.1 ROM (which has SSPL 1.22 built it)

You need to flash SSPL before HardSPL. HardSPL essentailly write protects the bootloader, and you need to flash SSPL to remove it. UDPL will not be able to overwrite the HardSPL installed

I ran ths sspl 1.16 then try to flash wwe rom but it stopped at 12% now phone is in bootloader tri color ..the original rom was french and i tried to flash wwe...please help and tell me how i can revise this phone thanks

Edit: problem solved..i used mtty 1.42 ..uncheck allow usb connetion in active sync..run mtty...select usb..hit enter>cmd> type "boot" and hit enter...phone will restart and boot normally..but will go into bootloader again..just redo it and it will work again..thought someone might need help on this problem as well.

I tried the HSPL, uspl on my touch dual - but the upgrade fails!!!

On the screen you can see "0% image upgrade in progress" no further messages on PC i´ll get the error [262] after soft reset everything seems ok.

HardSPL just write protects the booloader (SPL) from being overwritten during a flashing process. It will not CID (and therefore SIM) unlockthe phone.

CID and sIM unlock are just different terms used interchangeably.

If all is fine, then no.

HardSPL 1.22 is the same as the SPL1.22, except that it is write protected. Useful if you intend to flash more ROMS. It will prevent the bootloader from being overwritten and also for recovery if a flash goes bad (incomplete, phone won't start etc)

EDIT: HardSPL v.1.15 (MFG - manufacturing) with rtask support now added. I highly recommend to install this version !!!

Note:
The USPL is not a "HardSPL" which means it gets overwritten when you flash a full ROM. You have to run the SSPL if you want to flash any ROM again.
The HardSPL is never overwritten which in case of flashing trouble is a great insurance. Should you want to flash another SPL or USPL you must run the SSPL.

I have a Niki model. I encounter problems during the procedure though:
1. download the attached files
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. connect usb cable
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
6. unplug and replug the usb cable
(OPTIONAL, better to skip it! step 7. if you only want to test the sspl try flashing the attached splash screen by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-splash-niki)
8. you can now flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki

i've tried to get up from 1.5 MFG hardspl to 1.22 without any luck, it all completes successfully, but everytime i change my rom, i notice it's still 1.5 MFG

anyone have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Same here, which OS do you use? I am on Windows 7 x64 and I CAN'T set up an "active sync" connection (I presume that would be in Windows Mobile Device Center) while the phone is in boot loader. I think that's the problem.

EDIT: Interesting. After the second time I get an ERROR [264] Connection, conveniently after Win7 installs the phone as "Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM"... right.

EDIT2: If I connect the phone in normal USB mode I get a software version 2.09.405.1 but still only an "update" option to version 1.0.0.Nike

With HardSPL in place, the SPL is write protected. You can flash any ROM you want, including the official HTC WM 6.1

If you want to return the phone for warranty work, and want to erase your tracks, then you can flash SSPL first, and then reflash official SPL or just the official WM 6.1 ROM (which has SSPL 1.22 built it)

So, that means I can restore my original ROM (rebuilded from Dump files) with the original SPL, Radio etc? For example my original ROM (an Orange branded one with WinMo6) has an older version of SPL, not the 1.22 one.

To remove the HardSPL 1.22, do I need just to run again the SSPL on my device and then to flash the original ROM? That's all?

For the branded Orange/Vodafone/T-mobile etc phone, do we need CIDunlock to install the official HTC update or just HardSPL?

the attached sspl, uspl and hardspl are based on the nike shipped spl v1.16
edit: Hardspl v.1.15 (mfg - manufacturing) with rtask support now added. I highly recommend to install this version !!!

1. Download the attached files

i have niki 100 but the language is norwegian, and i want to change to english.i've read through the forum.
Anytime i run the sspl-1.16-nike.exe on the pda, the red, yellow and blue screen flashes briefing, then a blank screen comes with loading written on it. It stays that way unless i take out the battery. Then it becomes normal again.
I've downloaded the english rom, but when i run it, it tells something about "vendor id". How do i change the language. Thank you

I have a niki 100
trying to hspl to 1.22.
So far i installed 1.16 exe to phone and ran it.

Then remembered that i forgot to remove sim and sd card. I'm sure i fluffed this up by removing the sim at this point.

Phone seems to be stuck in Grey loading mode. Been stuck like this for 10 minutes.

Any ideas. should i disconnect and reboot?

Firstly, I have read many pages of this thread and there were peopole with same problem as I have, but i still can't make it work.

I got to the USB screen and that's it for me :(
After "verifying information on your PDA phone... please wait..." comes screen with error 206: CONNECTION

I have copied hardspl-1.15mfg-nike in flash-hardspl-niki folder, and also removed hardspl-1.16-nike.nbh. I have also tried the same thing with hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped. And then again, I have tried flashing it directly with bootloader that comes with 1.22 (soft and hard), and I get the same thing.

I have also tried reconecting cable from the phone and from the computer, as restarting computer and disabeling firewall.
There is no SIM and SD in phone
It is Niki200, T-mobile locked with their latest official WM6.1

Right, big post time. I have read the whole thread and soon to flash my NIKI200 with HardSPL. Below is everything that seemed important to mention. All information is from this thread. Please feel free to correct anything i have wrong. I have not done this myself yet, as i wanted someone to check i have everything in need and in the right order. So...



ALL INFO FOR THE NIKI100 and NIKI200 NOT THE NEON

01)Disable the keylock/password on your phone

02)Download the attached files in post 1 (and from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2786065&postcount=439)

03)Delete .nbh file from "flash-hardspl-niki" directory. (extracted from the flash-hardspl-niki.zip)

04)Put hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh into "flash-hardspl-niki" directory.(extracted from hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.zip)

05)REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!

06)Connect usb cable

07) Make sure either Activesync or WMDC is synced with the device rather then just being connected via usb!

08) copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)

09) after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display

10) unplug and replug the usb cable

11) Then flash the hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-hardspl-niki directory

12) You should see progress bar on device and be flashed in about 3-5min

13) After installing the hardspl you can flash any rom (or splash or radio)



Tips:

- You'll need HardSPL 1.22 if you want to use ROMS with radios greater than 1.64. This includes the latest official ROMS released by HTC.

- If you want to upgrade to official ROM, then the process of HardSpl is not necessary.

- What HardSPL does is create a 'permanent' form of SPL on the phone (hence Hard SPL), and is there so that no programs will overwrite it. This is installed as insurance if you flash the phone a lot, or want to use non official ROMs.An alternative upgrade is SSPL (SoftSPL). This will update the SPL to whichever one you want, but it can be overwritten by another SSPL or HardSPL routine. Newer (or older) SSPL just needs to be flashed as required.If you want to overwrite HardSPL, you need to use USPL first, followed by new HardSPL or SSPL. The latter is done in cases where you need to return the phone for warranty purposes etc. Once HardSPL or SSPL in installed, you can flash your phone multiple times without needing to reflash the SPL with HardSPK or SoftSPL if the ROM you are using is compatible with this version. With HardSPL in place, the SPL is write protected. You can flash any ROM you want, including the official HTC WM 6.1 If you want to return the phone for warranty work, and want to erase your tracks, then you can flash SSPL first, and then reflash official SPL or just the official WM 6.1 ROM (which has SSPL 1.22 built it)



Trouble Shooting:

Q: After successfully flashing with the HardSPL, my Niki will now only be recognised as a USB storage device, so ActiveSync is not working any more. I can still go into boot loader mode to flash with a new ROM (now running the fantastic Niki Project), but the problem remains. I'm not sure if it's a PC or a phone problem (I only have access to one PC here), but it certainly didn't behave this way until the HardSPL flash.

A: Delete the activesync profile on your PC, do a hard reset on your phone and try again.


Q: Tested the flash-splash-niki and now i see everytime i start "test only not for sale", also after installing a german flash. what i have to do ???

A: Don't worry. that's normal


Q: Can i flash from Bluetooth?

A: Highly risky so i wouldn't.


Q: Seem to have a problem getting this working - I go through all the steps completely fine, it claims the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh rom is flashed fine, but I cannot get into the tricolour bootloader - I hold down the camera button when pressing the power button, but it just starts up as normal and goes into Windows Mobile. Any ideas?

A: Take battery out. Reinsert battery. Hold camera key down, and press power on button

A: Connect your nike to the PC with the USB. Right click on the ActiveSync icon in the tray bar of your PC. Left click on "explore". Copy Paste from your PC to your Nike.

I've followed the op's instructions and also the summarised version in Oct 2 posting but in both instances when I run sspl-1.16-nike.exe on my set I get the tri-band view, but unplugging and replugging my usb cable in simply drops the connection to my PC and i can't get it back without resetting. Runnign the ROMUpdate simply can't see the handset, am I doing something wrong?

If I perform a slight variation on this and run the ROMUpdate after resetting and have the handset once again connected via activesync it then kicks off the process fine but the set switches into the triband screen again and then I get the failed to connect message from ROMupdate once again.

Unfortunely, the device has a problem with the speaker and i must send it to HTC.

i have a tocuh dual, 16 keys, nik100 (some more info on the startup screen: 1.65.29.22 - radio i suppose and 2.14 - which i don't exactly know what it means). it's locked in orange romania, winmo 6.1.

i wanted to install some of the roms with winmo 6.5 on this forum, but everytime i started it i got a usb connection error after the RGB screen (at the progress bar that remained 0%). the phone came with winmo 6.0, i got an orange rom for 6.1 (for that i got no usb connection error, tried after getting those errors).

reading around i got the impression i must first (noob speech here) whatever-spl (no clue really what it all means)...

so, could anyone please quide me through getting one of these winmo 6.5 roms on my touch dual?

I have successfully run sspl-1.16-nike.exe and HardSPL 1.22 on an Orange HTC Touch Dual - everything seems to go ok, but when the device reboots I get the "customising device" with "orange.tsk" and then when I put a card in from another provider (virgin) I am asked for a Network unlock code.

Sorry if I am on the wrong track here but is there a step I am missing, or some other thread I should be reading (I have searched but couldn't find anything).

I was trying to follow instructions here to unlock my phone, I got as far as flashing the radio but at 95% done.. it failed (Now it doesn't appear to have any radio version). I have tried taking the battery out, hard resetting the phone but now whenever I go to flash the radio with 1.00.000.0 (in the instructions above) or my original radio 1.58.16.27 - it gets to the percentage screen and just hangs on 0%, then the ROM update utility says its failed. I've well and truly messed it up - whenever I power on the phone it's always on the following boot screen:

I was unlocking my phone (the HTC Touch Pro 2 <SPRINT>) and I was using a Diamond unlocker (I thought it would be fine), but during the process there was a connection error and now my phone seems to be bricked. I can't get it to even turn on, get to a bootloader screen, or anything even remotely close.
The one odd thing that it does though, is when I connect it to my computer, it pops up and my computer recognizes there is a device there. In my Device Manager there is an unknown device called: Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM. I have tried every combination of two buttons, including holding down the reset button with all of them, but nothing gets me anywhere.
If anyone could help, AND PLEASE somebody tell me , that it can be save it

That's proberly because u flashed the test-rom, just flash a rom on this forum and I think it's gone, if u use one of Insomnia's rom I'm sure it gone because he changed the first and second screen in his rom's.

Try a hardreset :

To perform a hard reset on a device that is not responding to input or not booting to Windows, first remove the back cover of the device. Hold the "call" and "end call" keys on the front of the device and reset the device by sticking the stylus into the small hole to the left side of the USB port. The device will ask for confirmation. To confirm, press the "Enter" key on the keypad. On some devices you need to press the "Action" key instead of "Enter".

The device will reboot and be reset to factory settings

I'm having multiple problems I'm running windows 7 ultimate with a pocket pc version of WM6.1 factory settings HTC Touch Dual P5310 NEON400. I try and run the first app and my pc fails to recognize the phone and my phone screen goes blank! I reset and the phone seems fine. i try and run the hard spl and it hangs on 0% then gives me error saying connection failure leaving my phone at red blue green screen then to 0% progress bar and the phone hangs and i require a battery removal to reset the phone i have tried multiple different custom ruu files and tried multiple different ways of running the nike spl file for flashing all lead to the same error now i may be noob i may be missing a important step or my life may just be ubber failure i dont know i have read 3 other people with same error and no response i have also tried active sync disabled but then again soon as i do that my phone disappears from my pc! please can someone please help me fix this error or possibly emulate my flash process and let me know at roadhog34340@live.com :mad:

Sounds to me that you flashed a rom, that's why you see Test Only Not For Sale, can you tell us what you see when you start the phone in bootloader ? (pressing the camerabutton and the on/off button on the same time)

You're right, don't hurry but if active sync keeps jumping off why don't you remove active sync and do it without active sync.

i already did hardreset even i used MTTY.exe file but phone always stuck on startup Image not in Boot-loader it shown the image as i posted before Hardreset and MTTY didn't even work for me.

Okay, this is how i dit it:

1. I just started at step 4, and copied the sspl 1.16 to my phone.
2. Turned the phone off.
3. Removed sim and sd-card
4. Turn on the phone and launched sspl 1.16
5. Connect on computer and usb appears.
6. Running hardspl 1.22

Thats all, I'm not sure it is the right way but it worked for me.

Thanks to Rataplan and the other info posted hereabouts I proceeded with my problem (could not get original SPL-1.15.Hard to flash thru XP machine using active active sinc) so off I went to a vista machine running Windows Mobile Device Centre.

Partial success so far....

Following instructions for the "Niki-SuperCID-Security-Unlocker", (whilst holding my breath) I have so far flashed NikiCustomRUU as per instructions....confirmed at bootloader screen to:

NIKI200 MFG
SPL-1.15.HArd
CPLD-4

Since instruction 7a. says "right-click activeync icon and uncheck "Allow USB connections" from Connection Settings" and this is not available (I 'm probably wrong!) I am still fishing for answers..........all help welcome....will see this through even if I do end up bricking it a little!

I have read carefully the instructions on how to flash ROM for hardspl 1.16.
My device is an MDA touch plus T Mobile UK version and when it reboots from flashing the ROM the sim lock is still there and I can't use a different sim.

Need to mention that during the process, the time needed to flash ROM is just few seconds and not minutes but no errors occur.

Does anyone knows how to solve this problem? I have searched the forum but I can't find a solution.

Hello, I sspl'd and hardspl 1.22'd a NIKI100 (perfectly working with stock ITA ROM) from a friend of mine, installed an updated radio (RUU_Nike_Radio_1710901_2575400) and installed custom ROM (Megan ITA 1.1).
Sadly it got "lost" during customization (bar keeping on completing, going 100% and starting again) and I had to (soft)reset (after something like 1 hour in customization!). Then it couldn't go beyond "Windows Mobile" screen; tried to hardreset, no way. So I thought about MTTY and searched for NIKI instructions. Used "task 28" and "task 2A" to erase everything, now the phone ain't even switching on.
If I plug the battery AND the charger, no leds light up under the hearing mesh and pressing Power sorts no effect; with no battery but with charger only, I can see the red led but phone doesn't start. What can I do? I would like to give the phone back working! XD

Hi imalearner, to set this straight, you don't see an unlockcode with ciphers or something like that, also you don't see it on the screen of your computer, the only thing you should see if everything did work is in your phone on the top "security unlocked" and only on start up.
Ok let's continue, did you log in as an administrator maybe that causes the problem, otherwise just wait a bit longer before you run the Niki-supercid.exe
If you already installed 1.22 maybe it's better to went back to 1.15

I removed my micro sd card(Bell have only started using sim cards recently so I do not have one in my phone to take out), copied sspl-1.1.6-nike.exe onto my phone and ran it, but when I run it the screen goes black but a usb never appears on the display(my computer makes the notification sound that the usb has been 'unplugged' and 'replugged' but it gives me a message saying that a malfunction has occured). I've tried several times but I only get the same result(black screen) so I end up having to soft reset my phone.
If this information is important, the radio is 0.99.95V and this is what bootloader says:

Mine is stocked with SPL1.22 and it got stuck at 0% no matter what versions (1.16/1.22) of HardSPL I flash.

From TriColor screen I got:
NIKI100
SPL-1.22.0000
CPLD-4

Serial -> USB is shown when connected.

SIM and MicroSD are taken out.

Am I missing something?

You need to flash the nbh file you can do that, with the same tool where you flash the 1.22 with.

To make a softreset you don't have to remove your battery, just press on the camera button and the on/off button on the same time.
Btw could you be more specific about the problem you are facing.

I have been trying to get SSPL to work but it keeps failling, if anyone could tell me what i'm doing wrong!
My phone:
HT1100 (NTT docomo) with FM radio, 16 keys
neon100
R 1.59.39.08
G 25.84.30.07H

This is what i do:
1. Remove, sd and sim, charge battery to 100%
2. Connect phone to pc (winxp sp3), active sync = green
3. Copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to "my documents" folder on my phone through active sync
4. Run sspl-1.16-nike.exe on my phone with build in filemanager, i get the tricolorscreen with USB
5. disconnect usb, reconnect usb, (pc says new hardware found, active sync = grey)
6. Start Nike CustomRUU.exe on my pc (tried both soft and hard-reset)
7. It says Image Version:
then empty, so it detects no image?
8. I then click Update, in the next screen again it says nothing after From: Image Version:, and it says to Image version 1.00 Nike
9 I click next next, few seconds loading screen (100%) then my phone restarts and the software on the pc says: Error 244 Invalid device ID

Im still stuck with the original bootloader, help!

What i`m doing now is that i extract it from the file on to my desktop in a empty folder, then I drag it in to my phone (not in to a specific folder, just the main one, the one with application data. my documents and so on..)
Then i try to double click it, but the only thing that happens is the window flickering, no usb on my phone, there isnt anything happening. Also there is not an option to run it as administrator.

Could somebody help me. I`m running windows vista.

Ok, i'll just lay out me whole situation or whatever (thanks for the super fast reply btw)

I have an HTC touch dual P5500 (Niki100 i believe)
I am using windows 7 (i got the drivers that are supposed to work here (ht tp:// forum .xda-developers. com/ showthread.php? t=485293))

I am trying to eventually upgrade from wm6.1 to wm6.5.

I got the phone from my friend who said it was unlocked. when i turn off the phone and turn it on holding the camera button, it goes to the bootloader (i'm not sure if this is helpfull or not) and here is what it says at the top:

NEON300
SPL-0.95.0000
CPLD-3

and here are the steps i am taking;

1. download all those files on the first post of this thread.

2. download the hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped thing on another thread here

3. Put hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh into "flash-hardspl-niki" directory.(extracted from hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.zip)

4. Remove simcard and if there was an sd card that would be removed too

5. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to my phone then run it

6. After the color strips and the word USB come up, unplug the USB cable then replug it back in.

7. Then run ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the flash-hardspl-niki directory where the file hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh is also at.

8. follow the steps until i reach the part where its getting the data from my phone.

9. This is where the problem is at. It has only blanks for the version and all the other information

10. After the next couple steps, it goes into installing or whatever, where there is a bar and its supposed to take up to 10 mins, mine is at 100% in less than a second then gives me the error 244 mobile divice not supported or something.

I'm sorry, right now i seem to have just gotten another problem and activesync won't detect that the phone is connected, so i prob need to restard, then i'll come back and edit this and put more info.

Sorry to sound like i don't know what i'm doing. I've been developing software for almost 15 years now, but i have never really had any experience with devices such as these. So thank you very much for your patience and help! it is truly appreciated!

Also one more quick question, i know it doesn't belong here, but its more like a yes or no question i think. is the htc dual touch POSSIBLY able to have wifi? I would think no because you'd need the hardware, but i keep running across people talking about it, so maybe it is actually possible.

It looks as though i've gone back a step.

Now, when i run sspl-1.16-nike.exe from my phone and go into the bootloader, and then unplug and replug the usb, activesync won't connect to the phone, so i can't get past the part in the romupdateutility where it checks the phones information, so i get an error 260 - connection.

I have a windows xp netbook i tried using, but it did the same thing as this, so i wanted to try with the xp drivers on windows 7 or whatever, now windows 7 is doing the same thing as windows xp was when i tried to run romupdateutility.

I'll try to reinstall the regular windows 7 drivers for the mobile device.

Ok, I realized that my phone is a neon300, not a niki100... That clears that up.

So, for the neon300 i'm not supposed to update the rom in the bootloader. I just need to keep it synced then update it. then it resets and goes into the boot loader. i read a thread here that said i need to unplug then replug the usb right when the spl screen shows up. whether i do that or not though, the progress bar on the computer stays at 0 for a bit, then the error 260 connection problem comes up again.

I'll keep looking around to get this fixed, but if anybody has any ideas that would be great! thanks so much!

Okay, this is how i dit it:

1. I just started at step 4, and copied the sspl 1.16 to my phone. - DONE
2. Turned the phone off. - DONE
3. Removed sim and sd-card - DONE
4. Turn on the phone and launched sspl 1.16 - DONE ( results in triboot screen writing:
NIKI100
SPL-1.16.Jump
CPLD-4
5. Connect on computer and usb appears. - DONE (USB appears on lower triboot screen but active sync disconnects)
6. Running hardspl 1.22 - NOT DONE:

- running hardspl 1.22 from the download link means running a CustomRUU with the attached "hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh" file. But the CustomRUU check for activesync connection and if that is absent, when "Verifying the information on your phone.. Please wait.." returns error 260: CONNECTION - the update utility cannot connect to the pda phone.

Should I change something like go to mmty and stuff like that to allow usb connection even when active sync is not connected, or how should I solve this issue?


Solved: All I had to do was disconnect and reconnect the USB cable after running 1.16. However Costom RUU did not display anymore the image already present on the phone as it did when activesync was connected but while the triboot screnn with 1.16.Jump was on it flashed 1.22.

Should I see any differences in running Froyo ? :p

The joys of life!

Just when I was really starting to enjoy my HTC MDA Touch Plus, I even managed with my limited knowledge.....to set it up on the internet -(it was Supercid - unlocked in January with much appreciated help received from here:) whoopee....and recently, I took it on my summer FAMILY holidays...............and then, TROUBLE!:eek:

The situation;

When mobile, I have to use the in-car charger but this time I noticed the charger seemed faulty. I don't know how long it had been faulty for. Sometimes I would see the charging light doing what it should be doing, being lit up, then sometimes, only after a short time it would be gone out.....and the phone would obviously not be charged. I am quite sure that this was the charger at fault as it had a melt in the plastic case.

In the process of trying to get a new charger - that would work (in the car/bus) the phone must have stopped and started tens of times, but never quite going through a full starting sequence, to be able to be ready to use - either as a mobile phone, or a windows mobile device (was running WM6). Well, I know from experience, that this is not very healthy for computers, as they should be started and stopped properly, otherwise system files get corrupted.

ALSO.....

Without warning (knowledge or consent :mad:) my keen daughter, who thought she might just help her Papa, picked up the phone and 'fiddled' with it: eek:.

I must admit I have since fiddled with it too, trying to work out what has happened, but despite my best efforts I am stuck.

So here I am again, kindly asking for any help you can offer. All replies gratefully accepted.


Symptoms:

Turning on via power switch the device first displays a mostly black screen. At the top is a thin white band which displays the message 'Security Unlocked'.

Underneath it also says, "Smart Mobilty" - and underneath that again it says TEST ONLY NOT FOR RESALE" (This was always normal after I unlocked it before.)

Anyways, after that screen, it displays the T Mobile splash screen and just sits there doing nothing. I cannot turn it off. I have to remove the battery.

Doing a bootloader start procedure (power switch and camera button) I get the tri colour band and the display with thin white band with same message as above, then:

NIKI200 MFG
SPL-1.15.Hard
CPLD-4
At the bottom white band the word serial is displayed.

When connected to some computers in my house (several xp and vista mixed) the word serial changes to usb, but I cannot seem to do anything else. I am completed confused and fuddled.

Any advice please, point by point.

Connect your phone to your computer, and flash any rom you like, that will do the trick. (be aware if you flash an wm 6.5 rom to your device, you have to use a radio above 1.65, installing a new radio is the same procedure as flashing a rom only faster because a radio is smaller then a rom.

I am new to changing ROM/Flashing etc. I have HTC Touch Dual unlocked version working pretty well in India till a year ago when I bought my Nexus One.
I like to change my HTC to Android and I hope I am in the right thread. I have gone through many pages in this site for hours to understand some basics.
My HTC phone has the following details:

Model No: NIKI100 (HTC P5500)
Platform: Pocket PC
Windows Mobile 6 Professional
CE OS 5.2.1622 (build 18128.0.4.4)
ROM version: 1.31.707.09
ROM date:10/31/07
Radio Version: 1.58.16.27
Protocol version:25.61.30.03 H

( the above spec is similar to imalearner's but his is a locked phone while mine is unlocked already)

You have to stop immediatly, I didn't read you have a NEON 300, this is not made for your device.

I assume that, this simplified procedure is meant for me. I like to first understand and do cautiously. With you being around, I need not worry. But I like to keep troubling you to the minimum.
I have downloaded the files you have attached in your post. Yesterday I set up WMDC (my laptop is Vista) and made the sync work with my HTC Touch Dual.

Upto steps 6, your instructions are clear. In step 7, you mention "can now flash the Hardspl-1.22 by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki". In the hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.zip you have attached, "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" is not there but "Nike CustomRUU.exe" file is there. But the "flash-uspl-niki" of post one has "ROMUpdateUtility.exe". Please clarify this step.

I assume that, this simplified procedure is meant for me. I like to first understand and do cautiously. With you being around, I need not worry. But I like to keep troubling you to the minimum.
I have downloaded the files you have attached in your post. Yesterday I set up WMDC (my laptop is Vista) and made the sync work with my HTC Touch Dual.

Upto steps 6, your instructions are clear. In step 7, you mention "can now flash the Hardspl-1.22 by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki". In the hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.zip you have attached, "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" is not there but "Nike CustomRUU.exe" file is there. But the "flash-uspl-niki" of post one has "ROMUpdateUtility.exe". Please clarify this step.

Sorry about step 7, it was a typo, I now corrected it.

Android is only running on sd-card you have to read the specific thread of it and post there your question, I can't help you with that :o sorry.

Well, I could do the steps without any problem. Thanks to your simplified procedure. I went through setting the device etc and the phone rebooted once in the beginning and once after setting the device as per instruction on the screen. It took about 6 minutes for everything to be over.

But when I checked the ROM version it was same 1.31.707.09, date 10/31/07; radio version 1.58.16.27; protocol version 25.61.30.03H. This is a bit puzzling to me but you have mentioned that in step 8 you have mentioned "Now you can flash every ROM". Is this correct?

Before flashing, the phone signal used to be very low and it is the same now. I hoped that it will improve after flashing. Is there any ROM I can use to improve signal strength? I do not know whether over a period of time the phone hw can go bad to lose its sensitivity.

So please recommend a good Radio ROM which will improve the signal strength.
Regarding Android (even from SD card), I am okay with it. I will try to locate in some other forum in XDA. Thanks one again for your help.

Hi buddy, the rom doesn't change when you flash Hardspl.

Your phone is splitted in two different sections, a rom and a radio.
When you flash a cooked rom (not an original) the radio doesn't change, when you flash a radio, your rom doesn't change.

A radioflash is a lot shorter because it is smaller then a rom.
For a good radio you must take a look in the Insomnia thread from d_train, he has a radio 1.65.30.12 that one is ok.

For rom's you just search the forum, from which one you like the most.

Hi t_raja, you can find the radio HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3521491&postcount=2)

For roms you can take a look in my signature, but there are a lot of other chef's who made perfect roms, just keep in mind that a rom is device specific, it means that you can only flash a rom which is made for your device.

For Android, I'm pretty sure you"ll find one in the Nike forum.

Just a small tip, if your device is acting weird you have to go back to your original rom and radio, most of the times it happens if you flash your device to often. (about 10 to 15 times).

Thanks for your radio link. I downloaded 1.65.30.12 and flashed it without any problem.

I could see the change in the device - old radio replaced by the new one.

However there was no improvement in the signal strength - only when I go out to my balcony, I could see one bar of the signal strength instead of 3 or 4. Before this radio also, it was like this only. So basically no change in signal strength.

One year back when I used this Touch Dual, the signal strength was 3 or 4 bars. Is it possible that the phone has lost its sensitivity? I am using the same service provider with same SIM on my current Nexus One, there I see 4 bars for the signal. Do you have any clue on this?

Thanks for your tip also. This is the first time I am flashing this phone. (I had done earlier twice on Nexus One.)

I am going through your Originals WWE thread to understand and select a good ROM.
I am still hunting for Android mainly for the market applications and also I am learning Android programming. So if I convert my Touch Dual to Android, I can use it for testing also.

My Touch Dual does not have HSPL, and also can not boot the operating system, the operator logo appears and stays locked on that screen, so I can not run the USPL, it would be possible to run the USPL by MTTY method or something? Just a few questions:

1. Are you sure you have a Niki 100, you can see this under your battery.
2. Is your phone sim unlocked, I mean can you use a simcard from another provider.

If you don't have a Nike phone you have to search for the right thread.

If your phone is sim-locked just start reading HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=395945).

If you have a Nike and your phone don't have a sim-lock just read THIS (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11218363&postcount=701).

Just install your original rom and after that try again.

Note: if you can't make a connection with your phone just put the phone in bootloader by pressing the on/off- and camera button on the same time.

The attached SSPL, USPL and HardSPL are based on the Nike shipped SPL v1.16
EDIT: HardSPL v.1.15 (MFG - manufacturing) with rtask support now added. I highly recommend to install this version !!!

1. download the attached files
2. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
3. connect usb cable
4. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
5. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
6. unplug and replug the usb cable
(OPTIONAL, better to skip it! step 7. if you only want to test the sspl try flashing the attached splash screen by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-splash-niki)
8. you can now flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-uspl-niki
9. after installing the hardspl you can flash any rom (rom cook project here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355397))

Note:
The USPL is not a "HardSPL" which means it gets overwritten when you flash a full ROM. You have to run the SSPL if you want to flash any ROM again.
The HardSPL is never overwritten which in case of flashing trouble is a great insurance. Should you want to flash another SPL or USPL you must run the SSPL.
