Sry guy,
I have a Samsung i780; Srs Wow Hd install is ok after regedit mod:

"If it doesn't work after having installed then softreset try the tip of ga!nusha:
"in order to make this wonderfull software work on every ppc you first need to check what is in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Drivers \ BuiltIn \ WaveDev] "DLL" and after install replace [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Drivers \ BuiltIn \ WaveDev] "Old driver" with what was in "DLL" before install"

The problem is the audio effects...not there are...

Any idea?
Thx.

P.S. Sry for my bad english...

Hi all,
I have a simple requirement. My WM6 PDA volume for Incoming Call is very low even when I set it to the loudest. Will this utility - SRS WOW HD - help me boost the volume level?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, after you install SRS WOW HD and then change the DLL in the registry to the old one, you get sound (that's if you didn't have sound before.)

Can I just point out the obvious and say that by doing that, you're not using the SRS sound driver, but your old one? If you really know audio, and you play with the SRS settings, you will notice that NOTHING changes. Why you ask? Because you're not using the SRS WOW HD .DLL FILE! You are using the old dll which brings the same exact audio quality as before the install.

Can someone please remove that as a "fix" because it's not a fix, it just reroutes your audio through the old DLL causing no difference in audio except a placibo effect in some.

:confused::rolleyes:
HI guy,

Should I do the same for my Samsung SGH-i900 WM6.1. After I load SRS WOWHD i had the same error, and I did try the steps to install SRS than soft reset than run the Wavedev.reg zip file but still no sound. May be is bcos I don't know hoe to do Reg edit, can someone teach me step by step in the wavedev.dll reg edit part? thank you all.
Did you manage to get it working? I have same problem, tries changing registy to no avail.

I think lots of those who listen to music with their pocket pc will like it

Just copy on the pocket pc and install on main memory. Don't forget to Soft reset after installing.

It works well on my HTC TOUCH

If it doesn't work after having installed then softreset try the tip of ga!nusha:
"in order to make this wonderfull software work on every ppc you first need to check what is in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Drivers \ BuiltIn \ WaveDev] "DLL" and after install replace [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Drivers \ BuiltIn \ WaveDev] "Old driver" with what was in "DLL" before install

work on my mio"

OR use that taken from the pda4x forum:
After install SRS WOW, reset, then install this reg(unzip the wavedev.zip attached), and reset...
Now you can use SRS WOW HD, really Great Apps...

I made a cab files because in the old cab a few registry key where missing (BtA2dpSnd) and the dll wasn't set to self register. i corrected this for 1.21 and 1.28. Installed 1.21 on my trinity and is working fine. didn't try 1.28

Regards, Arjan

I installed the 1.21 cab on my Mogul, but I got no sound even after soft resetting. I went to the the SRS menu and clicked on enable to no avail. I have the Mogul with WM 6.1 ROM update. I have tried the different versions of the SRS, but none is good. The original version from freepcware.com that I installed kept saying something like driver not loaded. The cab that you put together does not have the driver error of the original version, but still no sound comes from anywhere. Any advice? Thanks.

The other day I contacted SRS Labs and reported the issue. They got back to me pretty fast, and I was told the issue would be forwarded to marketing.

If enough people chime in, perhaps they will take notice and release an update?

it worked on o2 zinc wm6 after registry change. it decreased my speaker and headfone volume with the srs in off mode.and when i put it to on the volume increases but not much difference compared to before installing srs. the only gud part was that a movie of mp4 format started playing louder. i uninstalled it because i listen to Mp3s more. anyone know anyway to make this progrm useful? also does anyone know how to increase my o2 zinc volume by reg edit or ...... its nt loud enough.

i too have o2 zinc can let me know how to install srs..thanks

You had to put some wrong infos when updating registry, i've tried it also on athenna and vox and works on both however registry edition is necessary. did you reset device after reg changes and installation? Try other versions (example for diamond only working is 1.21)

Anybody please help me. I installed WOW 1.2.1 with no luck then i reinstalled and now i can play music, but don't have system sounds, so no ringtones no alarms. Even the volume-up and down don't make sound. What registry value do i have to change. I already changed the wavedev to the old values(i hope).

@hankeys - .. reverting back to internal speaker
A had/have the same happening in my Tilt.

The Manila ROMs I tested so far DO show this behavior so my guess is that it is ROM not WOW related.

My problem is:

Finally I solved my issue with srs wow hd.
My friend made it working long time ago.
Check his thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=434915
But I couldn't made it working on my TP.

He's running stock wwe rom. So I suspected that as an issue as I am running custom roms (used to be ROMeOS, now it's ELITE RC1).

He told me it's not working with tf3d player but I refused to drop tflo3d as I liked it and TP is not TP without it. And I refused to give up about srs wow hd too.

My issues as many others here were not changable max volume and even worse not changing the sound after making changes in srs wow hd.
So I turned off the tf3d and guess what. WORKING! working with WM and 3rd party players.

What about damn tf3d? I'm not gonna use other player just because it's working with it. Accidentally I copied WMA with others MP3s into my TP. And now guess what. WORKING!!! So the trick is to convert your mp3s to wmas. Annoying if you got 300 mp3s but the only solution I found.

Hope this will help some of you.

* download & install WOWHD121.CAB (attached)

* WOW HD will not work with WM or TouchFlo players, I have tried many other players too, but only GSPlayer works with WOW HD.

I have same question. It doesn't seams to work if you put WOWHD in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE or in SOFTWARE. If I understand it correctly this
settings should prevent reverting back from headsets to internal (stereo).
Please share some more light on this.

Same here, doesn't works. I need a registry setting that would prevent reverting back to headphones everytime I insert headphones in my Diamond.

I installed this app on my Touch Pro (1.51 WWE ROMeOS) and find absolutely no difference in the sound at all. If I do "About" SRS WOW HD, it says that I have 1.2.10.0.

Is this the latest version?

Remove WOW with SK Tools and try the attached one. Though it seems that it has the same version number it worked for me (I had the same issue).

Thanks. It works on my omnia. :)

I think the important steps are:

Remove with a "good" tool (i.e. SK to clear the registry entries which a normal uninstall may NOT do).
Install SRS WOW.
Soft reset (stylus is perhaps better than power cycle).

As said several times I had the same issues and these steps helped.
Furthermore I had once the issue that all my sound went dead (speaker and in call) UNINSTALL did N O T fix it, SK or Memaid uninstall DID.

Friends,

I have been battling with this SRS WOW for the last 3-4 days now trying to get this working with my AT&T Fuze and its driving me crazy. Tyguy has given me excellent ideas, tips, and been a blessing in helping out.

So far I have tried every trick in the book from reg edits, different installs, factory reset, different roms, even exchanged the fuze today.. still coming up short.

A lot of people that have the device have it working perfectly and others not so luck. This is what I have found so far -

Third party players like pocketplayer, gsplayer deliever bass etc but not as good like srs. So I know eq settings are working and adjusting correctly in their respectiful application.

If srs is loaded than audiobooster disables itself and music player does play but not with the SRS settings. If I try to change settings in SRS, there is no affect what so ever. This tells me that the driver is not working in SRS...

As of right now, I am lost for words on this... Many people have SRS and I question if the model slightly different between regions?

Here is how I got it to work with my HTC Touch HD:

* download & install WOWHD121.CAB (attached)
* reset device
* download & install GSPlayer (attached)
* WOW HD will not work with WM or TouchFlo players, I have tried many other players too, but only GSPlayer works with WOW HD.

are you sure this is working with GSPLAYER? I am able to get the extra bass by changing settings and I must say it is pretty good and solid.

Is this plugin that much better than Audio Booster? I found AB to put some clarity in the highs and a little extra thump for the lows when using S2P.

I had SRS working on my tilt until I sold then switched to the fuze..

AB is just a eq program, SRS is a kick a$$ surround soound, in your chest bass thumping plugin.... what was cool about srs is that if you wanted all bass, no music would distort.. the plugin was inteligent how it adjusted to sound.

hands down, SRS is the best out there..

It's not the INTERNAL speaker that counts a good working SRS WOW blows year ears off using a headset (perhaps that's why there is a "WOW" in the name :) ).

Audio Booster is an application to control a hardware equalizer.
SRS WOW is software based and more surround oriented.

If you want better sound, then Audio Booster is the way to go.
If you want effects (hall, surround, etc.) then SRS WOW is the way to go.

SRS WOW is much more than effects. It does make the sound much better. It's crisper, clearer and deeper. Can't compare with Audio Booster as haven't used that.

Hi

I found that after installing the SRS WOW drivers, it may not be required to revert the wavedev.dll back to original.
Please try changeing this "Flags"=dword:00010000 to "Flags"=dword:00010002, useing some registry editing tool. this is in the drivers -> builtin -> WaveDev registry

Note that this is the value you will find in BtA2dpSnd registry too.

it works on a ASUS P320. both Bluetooth and wired headphones work and show up enhanced SRS Sound.

I dont have a technical explaination for this, just found it by chance.

Hi

Pls Follow my post. in which I explained to make one small change in a registry. Don't do the Wavedev.dll restoration change.

SRS WOW will work. I have it working on ASUS P320 wm6.1, and LGKS20 with wm6.1 ROM.

Should work on other standard WM based devices. Try hard, because music with SRS WOW, is wonderful.

Pls note : you need at least 300MHz CPU to run SRS WOW DSP and Bluetooth A2DP and music player.

That worked through BT headset it is necessary to copy all parameters from [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Wave Dev] in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd
Except for value of parameter "OldDriver", he should be such, as was "DLL"
For example:
Before
"DLL" = "bta2dp.dll"

After
"DLL" = "WOWHD_ARM_WCE_PPC2005_Driver.dll"
"OldDriver" = "bta2dp.dll"

Thanks for the Spoonfeeding!! This Cleared it up for my Sprint Touch WM6.1. After i read this post I was like "Duh!" :p I didn't understand the wording in the first post of this thread.

Vnandigana,

I tried your example and it appears to be working so far on my touch diamond.... I still have a few things that I want to try, see what happens but for the most part the bass is not present and srs is doing its job.

I did notice that SRS is working in S2P, Mort Player, but in TF3D or Windows media it is not. I don't use those apps much so it's not a big deal.

Will keep you posted and again THANK YOU for this info. I been hacking away at this for a week now...

Well I'm going to have to uninstall it. With it installed my phone won't coem out of sleep mode a lot of the times and I have to do a soft reset after the phone goes into sleep. :(

Here is what I noticed about it:

When playing through the external speaker on my Sprint Touch(WM6.1) Bass is non-existant.

When playing in my car via adapter the sound is GREAT. The Bass is handled so much better and the treble doesn't sound over sharpened.

I didn't notice any changes when changing the settings though.

I do like the program though.

It does work on8 the Vogue. You just have to use a Regedit program like Task Manager to change the key "DLL" to wavedev.dll (or whatever your "Old Driver") key says. I was wondering if you could try this on your Vogue to see if your Vogue won't come out of standby with SRS installed.

I have edited my registry 7 ways from Sunday, including the change you suggest. Nothing has ever worked. Upon soft reset, I get no sound at all.

Now the last change I made was the Flags edit that was suggested above. I found this one odd because that particular value wasn't in the registry at all, and I had to create it from scratch. That being the only change I made, I finally wound up getting sound after my soft reset, and I can see that it's making a difference. It's a challenge getting the sweet spot for settings, and I have yet to try it with my bluetooth headphones or bluetooth FM transmitter, but it's progress anyway.

Hi All,

I agree that SRS Drivers may not work on all devices due to some un-known dependencies. But the principle is, The wave output of your player has to pass through the SRS WOW Driver to get SRS Sound output.

now if you revert to old driver, it will seem to work, but it is the regular nor SRS Sound. so you should not change the wavedev.dll and bta2dp.dll regs.

I only have a ASUS P320 and LG KS20, it works on both(wm6.1). (ASUS uses MS Bluetooth stack, LG has Broadcom stack).

And that is what Hacking is about, tinker with it until it works.

"

it is about helping people and community, all the data is there in the posts. keywords, searching will display the results. you can not give a answer to everyone everytime because there are many variables to resolutions, just like the srs wow. i did not have to change the driver, i had to make a reg edit which was compltely different from the standard norm.

so you see just getting a quick fix does not solve the worlds problems.. you have to 'search' and do a little work to be rewarded.

Ok, I couldn't get it to work on my Fuze either running NAFT v4.1 rom. Matter a fact, after installing SRS Wow on my Fuze, the volume buttons won't decrease or increase the System or Ring volume.

And yes I did the Flags and bunch of other registry stuff... NO GO.

It looks like that if you are using a ROM that is using the TouchFl3D with Manilla that already has the preset Registry key to Audio Booster, it won't work. (IMO)

On my Tilt, SRS WOW works perfectly.

Search for the cab version called SRS_WOW_HD_121.cab. If you can't find it, shoot me a pm and i'll post it here. This version works on my Fuze. Infact this is only the version that works on WM6 and WM6.1 IIRC.

I have an elfin with the latest official ROM 3.07.xx. Tried the SRS HD 121 version mentioned here(after having tried several other versions). At first you loose sound, so you have to complete those reg tweaks of Flags= 00010002 etc. and a soft reset. Once you get the sound back, it works great even with A2DP(but not AVRCP other than default audio manager). But the phone begins rebooting after almost a day of usage!!! Such a bummer!! I used to use SRS BT fixed version alongwith SRS 1.28 on the older 2.xx ROMS which used to work like a charm even A2DP/AVRCP on any player. Now thats all lost!!
Wonder when someone will work to get a fix for this!!

As for coming out of standby, that's never been a problem at my end.

Could you (or anyone with a Sprint Touch) post up which cab version and what key in the Reg to get it to work? I have tried all versions and so many reg edits until I'm confused and I still can't get it to make a sound. I've had to do a registry restore twice... This sucks!!

I gave up.

Tried multiple versions of the 1.21 cab files posted on these forums.
(The 1.28 is meant for non-touchscreen phones)
Only one that booted past the blue Imate screen after a soft reset was a modified cab called 02_SRS_WOW_HD 121.CAB

But it did not set the registry entries correct.
Multiple soft resets - no change.
The settings panel just came up HD driver not loaded - exiting.
And once Registry edited with Total commander & correct driver loaded,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355913&page=9
it too crashed at blue screen.
With only recourse a hard reset.

I am using an official 1.77 Rom updated device.

Let me know if anybody gets this to work on an Imate ultimate.

Version 1.5 Wow also locked up, hung device at reset.

Friends,

I am a very big fan of SRS on the Raphael and I tell you the application plugin is pain to get working. As everyone has written before my post, it either works or it doesn't on their device. There are a few versions out there floating around and it does require a lot of trial and error in order to get the sound wanted from the plugin.

Now, before I start I have been through three Raphael phones due to hardware problems that I had to send back for RMA replacement. I am now on my fourth phone and hope it stays that way for a long time!

On two of the raphael phones, I was not recieving the full punch of SRS wow with the extra bass, compression, surround sound etc.. But on the other two same identical phones I had no problems with the full sound. At the present, if I listen to a song - doesn't matter the song I hear the bass thumping into my chest.. Sometimes, it can be annoying and other times the balence that srs brings out between all instruments is amazing. This is where SRS does a beautiful job bringing out the extra heavey bass without muffling the other sounds. If you think your srs is working but doesn't deliever the bass thumping in your chest as I describe for your mp3 playback phone, then it's truely not working...:)

I have included my screen shots, registry edits and the different device information for you to plow through and compare. Now, remember this is for the AT&T Raphael pocket pc phone.

Steps

1. Install SRS_WOW_HD 121.CAB and reboot the ppc
2. Install WOWHD_ARM_Panel.cpl
3. Change the registry entries before going into the app.
4. Goto: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev]
5. Change "Flags"=dword:00010000 to "Flags"=dword:00010002
6. Launch SRS WOW from the settings and use the screen shot I supplied. I like the heavey bass thumping sound, so these are my settings.

SRS Software Versions

I could not get the other software versions to work with the raphael phone. So for SRS to work 121 is the only one that works. Don't waste your time trying the others....just use 121

Now, how do you figure out if your Raphael phone will produce the sound with SRS WOW as I mentioned above? That is a good question because it definitely comes down to the electronics in the device that HTC puts into the device. Should SRS WOW work on all devices "YES" but as I expressed earlier, it does not. I have already been through four phones and two worked and two didn't. (Same settings, reg edits, radio, spl etc). So there is something between the devices that delivers better performance with SRS.

Stats Information on PPC

Rom Version ROMeOS v1.51 WWE
Rom Date: 12/04/08
Radio Version: 1.02.25.32
Protocol Version: 52.39c.25.22U

IMEI - first ten digits I noticed a trend between phones. "15" works and "12" does not. I verified this with the other two phones and the one that did work also had a "15"..
3531420212 SRS doesn't work (Old Phone)
3531420215 SRS works (New Phone)

SPL

RAPH110
SPL-1.90.Olinex
MicroP-Raph (LED) v13
MicroP-Raph (Key) v5
PSOC-Raph Stage_CVT v0x36

R: 1.02.25.32
G: 52.39c.25.22
D: 1.9xromeos (RomeOS)

Mac Address

I also noticed that the two phones that SRS wow did work on the mac addresses were close and similar, the other two were different.

I would honestly for those really interested in having SRS on their phone for the Raphael users, definitely use ROMeOS rom and radio I listed.

It will take some trial and error deffinitely. But in the meantime, the application SRS wow has to be handled with kid gloves in order to real deliver the sound.

Also, take note and back everything up before making changes to your ppc.

Good luck and hope you enjoy.

srs wow is a bugger to get it to work and when it does. life is sweet!

as I mentioned in the previous post about the settings, screen shot etc. i really do think there is something about the chipset on the phones that determine if it will work or not. i have already been through four fuze phones and two didn't work, same settings nothing changed - no luck and the other two did right out of the box.

my recommendatin is to do a system reset hard and install the app and panel, reboot and then see if it produces the extra bass etc..

hmmmm.. I tried this and it works yes, however, WMP volume control is unresponsive and srswowhd does not respond with WMP(for me). The sound in WMP however is great lots of bass and very crisp its as-though the srswowhd is running on preset, changing the values makes no difference though.

srswowhd is working ok with coreplayer, sounds strange but music through WMP seems better and more crisp. My decision to install srswowhd was to increase sound quality and bass so that I didnt need 3rd party apps such as coreplayer, this spoils it for me (unless there's some fix?) I will keep trying other methods.

1. install: srs wow hd 1.21 at 1st post and soft reset

2. Volume hack - use registry editor and go to Hkcu/controlpanel/soundcategories/attenuation

3. there are 4 items. Edit the value of item named 2. the default value would be 1 or 2 i dont remember. you can change the value between 1 - 5. I put 4 for mine.

Do anyone have this problem of using this SRS Wow HD?

I install this on my HTC Touch HD and my volume cannot be adjust after playing a music for sometime (lesser then 3 mins). it is like the volume level on the display are able to decrease or increase but the actual sound remains the same.
Do let me know. Thanks.

Hi everyone!

I had a SRS WoW HD program which has 2 more options in Trubass section. Those were an input and an output setting. I downloaded the latest version of SRS, but there are nothing in Trubass , only Trubass level and Speaker Size.

Does anybody know what version of SRS has input and output setting?

I opened a topic in the Raphael section. Didn't search good enough I guess. Just to be clear, I never had any problems with the 121 version I am using. Not untill the switch to 6.5. This is what I did to get it working:

First I installed version 121 HD which didn't work.
Then I tried this version http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=150853&d=1233064230 1.51.
Again didn't work, back to the "no HD driver" error.
Then I tried to replace the old driver registry setting. Again it didn't work.
After that I tried importing this registry setting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=64200&d=1199363692
Indeed, that also did not work.
Then I removed 1.51 and re-installed 121HD, just to try the registry settings with that version. For some reason (I'm guessing because of the previous imported registry settings) 121HD now works perfectly. All sound is played through SRS WOW. Finally I can enjoy my music again. The version of 121 I use is called SRS_WOW_HD 121.CAB with a size of 174,4kB on my Raphael.

I've been using the WOWHD_ARM_BT_Fixed.cab from ppc geeks, it work on first install but breaks volume control. Are you having the same? In otherwords, sound works fine, just can't adjust volume other than on my BT headset.

The first time I tried to install 121 on build 21222, it didn't work. SRS loaded, but it did nothing to the sound and my volume control did not work anymore.

I would suggest you try the registry settings I posted, which by the way came from the front page I think (I have a very short-term memory :D). It's not just the old driver that's causing problems, its those other settings as well. You could try the settings tvos mentioned. But personally I wouldn't bother. Just import the settings, reboot and hope it works. If not, re-install 121 (with the imported registry settings intact) and it should work after a reset. In the worst case, you could try exactly what I did. It will only take you like 6 reboots .

I would like te point out, again, that up untill 6.5 I never had any problems getting 121 working on whatever 6.1 build.

Forget my previous posts... I got it working, but only over a BT connection! I installed SRS_WOW_HD 121.CAB. Volumecontrol in mediaplayer/Manilplayer will not work over the internal speakers. The sound will also not change. But when you pair a BT headset or other AD2P device, SRS and volumecontrol will work! At least, it works on my Touch running Shaks 4.20 (WM6.1), Touch Pro RRE v2.1 (WM6.5 - 21222) and my girlfriends Touch Pro ROMeOS 1.95.3. I repeat  you will not hear a difference while listening to your internal speakers. Try it with a BT connection. And please post your findings here. I am very curious if this also works on other models. I used the same CAB on my Elf, and that also worked...

The even longer explanation here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3766596#post3766596) (just so you can read what I did)

Sorry Tyguy, I don't understand your question/remark.

Maybe some clarification from my side: I have an AD2P enabled car stereo. When I pair my phone with my stereo and listen to music thats on my phone, SRS WOW does have an effect on the carstereo. Which would make sense to me because it alters the sound before sending it over BT. It was just a remark because It doesn't work on the internal speaker. I used to own a Vox, and SRS WOW, on that phone, also worked over the internal speaker.

For those who missed it, this program is not an amp! Amplification is a side effect of certain settings but it is not what the program was designed for and is really only of any use if you like a VERY specific type of sound effect or style.

Also, in the main screen there are two pull down menus, make sure you select the correct one for the output you are using. On my phone the two options are: Internal (Stereo) and Headphones. My phone always reset to the Internal (Stereo) after a reset and even though the settings are the same (even in the registry) the resulting sound is VERY different between the two. I had to make a registry change to get it to load with "Headphones" after a reboot.

If your device is with WM6 and up, follow these steps:
Go to HKLM\System\State\Hardware and create DWORD key, named Headset and type value 1 in decimal.
Softreset
Enjoy

If device with WM6 and up suspends and cannot wake up, after installing go with your registry editing program to HKLM\Drivers\Builtin\BtA2dpSnd and delete "Flags" key.
On Samsung i900 Omnia that solves the problem.

In my experience, WOW SRS HD do not works with LG Incite and cause my phone to lost ring tone and volume. Phone became totally silent, volume adjustment do not work....I had to do a hard reset to get my volume back. Good luck.

Just a report from the field here... I have SRS WOW HD working on the CDMA version of the HTC Touch Pro2, with volume control functionality intact. After trying about a dozen different versions of the various cabs and registry settings, I found that the attached version works. After installation of the cab, you will need to go into the registry and modify the registry to change the value of the key HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev\"OldDriver" to "btcedrivers.dll". No surprise there, as that is our original driver on the CDMA TP2 (and I presume the GSM version, but I can't verify that).

If you don't want to mess with your registry keys, I've exported my "WaveDev" branch as a .reg file; it is attached for those that would prefer to use it. I'd also recommend using the improved SRS WOW control panel (also attached) by copying it into the \Windows directory on your device. Finally, restart your device to activate the changes and then test your setup.

This setup for SRS WOW HD seems to work great with Bluetooth stereo headsets such as the Jabra BT3030, and also with headphones plugged directly into the TP2. Most other variants that I tried of the cab files and registry modifications resulted in no sound at all for the TP2 after a restart (though sound would come back after uninstalling the cab and restoring the original registry entries).

****************

If you have a bluetooth stereo unit that can support it, I'd also recommend one additional registry tweak that I just finished hunting down this afternoon. Our BT stack on the TP2 is the WIDCOMM version, so you can't use the standard MS bluetooth stack registry tweaks from the Touch Pro to improve the sound, or the ones included in some of the common utilities (such as Advanced Config). To improve your connection quality for BT stereo, go to the following registry branch:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\WIDCOMM\Plugin\AV

Create a DWORD key called "LineSpeed", with a decimal entry of "480". That's a fairly high bitrate speed for your BT connection, but the TP2 hardware and a BT3030 headset seem to handle it without any issues. Restart your device to activate the new settings.

As an alternate, you can also give the DWORD entry a value of "320", and that is recommended if you have any problems with your bluetooth headset disconnecting at random intervals (reported with older devices in some other forums). You really only need an entry of "480" if you have fairly high bitrates on your MP3s, and a good quality set of headphones. I can notice the difference between the two settings when listening to 320kbps MP3s using a BT3030 headset with a pair of Sleek Audio SA6 headphones, but your mileage may vary.

I hope this is helpful to some folks out there, as I hadn't seen anyone give a solution for TP2 devices and SRS WOW HD yet.

Cheers,

--VelJharig

****************

P.S. - Noticed that I started having more issues with the device not resuming correctly from suspend states after this install (device would hang). Removing the SRS WOW driver resolved the issue completely, so I then went searching for similar problems. Apparently the Omnia i900 has a similar power-related driver issue with the SRS WOW drivers, and some folks here posted a fix:

http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-http-omnia-modaco-com/287879/important-update-srs-wow-hd-1-5-1-crash-fix-please-try/

The gist of the fix is that you have to tell WM that the driver needs to be initialized each time a power state changes, by adding the following registry keys in:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State\ Suspend

Add DWORD "wav1" with decimal value :00000004
Add DWORD "wav8" with decimal value :00000004

Details on the fix are in the thread linked above. It seems to have helped, but not resolved the suspend issue for me, so I'd recommend adding this to the list of install steps for testing with other devices.

Do you hear any changes to your musci with SRS WOW enabled?

Hi raz0r09,

I use Resco file explorer (there is a trial version) to import the reg files, and the Resco registry editor that comes with it to review my changes (or directly alter them). I would strongly recommend that people use something like the Resco registry editor to export the following branches _before_ modifying your device, so that you can roll back changes if that is needed:

HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev\
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd\

While the uninstall should reverse any critical registry changes (and it has worked for me during testing), I'd never want to count on that myself. If you get stuck, I have the original registry settings from my device (though I wouldn't guarantee complete compatibility unless you have a Telus-supplied TP2).

I do hear a significant difference between SRS WOW on and off, through bluetooth stereo and directly connected headphones (the specific ones I use are a Jabra BT3030 bluetooth stereo unit with a pair of Sleek Audio headphones). The difference through the standard speakers on the TP2 is very slight, by comparison, but still noticeable. I suspect if you are not hearing any differences through the standard speakers, that would be because the basic cab install is missing the correct "olddriver" key for our WaveDev device (the .reg file installs the correct one, or you could manually edit the entry with the information I provided in my original post using something like Resco's registry editor).

One word of warning... I am still having problems with device hangs when the unit goes into suspend mode with the SRS WOW driver installed. I've been trying multiple combinations of driver registry edits, power state edits, and other information that I can glean from sites that are reporting on similar issues with suspend states and SRS WOW HD (with the Omnia and Toshiba TG01). I've also been trying to build patterns on when the device locks vs when it doesn't, but I don't have a handle on the pattern yet. I can go through hours in which there are no issues, and then a set where every time I hit the suspend button the device locks.

With that said, I can very consistently clear up all suspend lock-up issues by simply uninstalling the SRS WOW HD cab (I've been doing that during the day because I need a reliable unit for work, and then reinstalling versions of the SRS WOW driver to play with settings each evening). I haven't found a working combination with the SRS WOW driver that is stable yet. So... we have sound, but it's not working properly with power management for our device yet.

Hope that is helpful; let me know if you have additional questions.

I haven't found a working combination with the SRS WOW driver that is stable yet. So... we have sound, but it's not working properly with power management for our device yet.

Hope that is helpful; let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks for your suggestions....worked after a combo of various reg edits. Turning "off" the wow driver seems to have fixed the standby problem, atleast for now. Test text & calls to myself went through with no problems aswell as the notifications for them.

Hi pimppoet,

Has your system remained stable over the last week or so with the driver turned off via the control panel? If so, I'd be very interested in seeing the specific registry changes you made, or a dump of the following branches:

HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\BtA2dpSnd
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\State
HKLM\Software\SRS

I've been going through alternate versions of the driver from other new devices (Omnia i9x0 and Toshiba TG01, for instance), and tried a number of registry configurations, but there are certain conditions under which my system will still have an SoD (suspend of death). I had played with a few variations in which the driver was turned off via the control panel, but didn't find a truely stable config.

Specifically, my system will remain relatively stable with most driver and registry variants if I toggle the driver off and then back on after a boot, and then specifically don't do any of the following:

1) Browse the web for a bit (1+ MB of traffic)
2) Check an email account that results in a large data transfer
3) Change the power state of the device (unplug or plug it into wall power or a PC).

As long as I do none of those things, the system will promptly return from a suspend state. If I do one of those, put it into suspend, wait about 30 seconds to a minute, and then try to power back on, most of the time it will have hung. Changing the power state after browsing the web is the most consistent method for hanging the device.

I was suspecting something about an interaction of the driver with the data connection and power states, but oddly enough, I don't seem to get the same hanging symptoms if I only use the Youtube app (so it's likely not just data access and power state changes). Disconnecting the data service before suspending the device doesn't seem to change the SoD symptoms.

So... if you have some registry values that seem to work consistently, I would love to compare them to what I'm trying right now.

Side note:

Found a useful little service for automatically switching between Internal and Headphones profiles on SRS WOW. If you load the following cab (provided by ursus2400 at the XDA Flame user forum), it will start a service that automatically switches your SRS WOW profiles from Internal to Headphones and back, based on whether an appropriate bluetooth device is connected. It seems to work well in my testing so far. More information is below from the original thread.
