I've trawled through the forums to get a definitive answer, but to no avail. I'm on Orange UK with the Kaiser, and I intend to move to Ireland next week (semi-permanent), and no company in Ireland is offering a decent phone.

I want to unlock my Kaiser, so I can use another company's sim. I am aware of imei-check, and I'm comfortable shelling out for a paid solution.

My questions are these:
1. will sim unlocking the phone be permanent,
2. is there any circumstance where it would be necessary ever to repeat the procedure?
3. Will the code generated by imei-check be a constant, that I could use again if necessary (same phone obviously)
4. What's the estimated lead time for a free solution?

Plaudits for the definitive answers!

1.sim unlock is permanent
2.should only need to do it once
3.1 code for 1 handset
4.there probebley will be a free sim unlocker available soon but your best bet is to just ring orange and ask for a subisdy pin they will probebly charge you but it will defo work and not void your warenty as it is the network that has provided you with it

Thanks for that. If there's a free unlocker by Sunday, then happy days. If not, I'll give imei-ckeck some hard earned. Life's a bitch lol.

As I promised, Plaudits to you for the answers, Yakleback

don't think that there will be something until sunday, cause the only known to me unlocker-project ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355345 ) hasn't been started.
regarding posts at this board, imei-check works good with no problems,
otherwise you can call you net-operator and ask for a free unlock-code cause you leave the country for longer time and want to use a local sim in your phone. just use the search-function, some people does so with ATT and get a free code, perhaps it works

a free one doesn't appear to be on the verge from anyone here...it'll either just show up with a surprise, or announced and a lead time for deployment, which means sunday ain't looking good

Yeah, I was being facetious about Sunday. Looks like imei-check will be getting some cash tonight then...
