View Full Version : Transfomer Sliding Sounds

In case anyone wanted to replace their Kaiser/Tilt sliding sounds with Transformers transformation sounds, I've included the wave files in a ZIP. I don't know how to package them up for mass consumption, so you'll need to do some RegEditing:
Extract the two .wav files from trans_slide.zip and place them in \Windows
Open your favorite mobile registry editor and drill down to HKLM\Software\HTC\SlidingSound
Create a new key with the next available number. I believe the default is 3 (0, 1 and 2). So add a key called 3
For the "(Default)" value enter in "Transformers"
Under the new key add a REG_SZ called "in" (without quotes).
For the value of "in", enter in transform-dn.wav
Create another REG_SZ called "out"
For the value of "out", enter in transform-up.wav
Exit the registry editor
Go to the Sliding Sounds configuration and now you should see Transformers listed as an available sound.
Alternately, you can go to the SlidingSound (the parent of 0, 1, 2, and 3) key and change the REG_DWORD value of ActiveSlidingSound to 3.
You can use the instructions to make your own sounds, but it appears that they must be .wav files. I tried .mp3s and it did not work)
The sounds are ok (a bit loud actually). I found them on the net. If you find better ones, I encourage you to use them. Or you can use Audacity to modify the sound to your liking, which I may do when I get too annoyed by the volume.

I guess I wasn't the only one who had this idea... :)
Here's the Transformers sound files I've been using on my Tilt for a while.
I spent a bit of work on these files so they sound nice and clean, they're a little bit shorter, and both files are from the same original sample, so they match perfectly. I think it works quite nicely.
Note that I named these 3_in.wav and 3_out.wav so they match the original naming scheme. Just follow the above instructions, but change the values of the reg keys or rename the files accordingly.

Here's a cab file to do the install automagically for you. I used the sounds from Diznario.
NOTE: This will replace the entries for RegEntry 3 if you already have a 4th sliding sound setup. This also makes RegEntry 3 the Active one. So just install the cab, and then slide open, slide closed, and enjoy... ;)
Thanks BigBHaller for the precise steps (made creating this CAB easy), and thanks Diznario for the sound files.

If I go into Start/Settings/Personal/Sounds&Notifications and look in the event list, I cannot find anything that has to do with sliding sounds or keyboard in/out. I have a 8525 i just got last week and updated to WM6. Is this option not available on the 8525. I have searched everywhere trying to find out how to enable this feature but I am unable to find anything.
Thanks for any help

heres a cab made by SH4DY33 that actually makes it easy to add any sound for the sliding sound. install the cab and then from now on all you have to do is name the wave file custom-in and custom-out and you can continue dropping whatever sound you want into the windows directory. if you have any concerns refer to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=330976

Hey guys,
I have Super Mario Sliding Sound.. When you open it it makes the noise of when he grabs mushroom to get bigger, when you close it it makes the shrinking sound after the mushroom wares off. did i explain it close enough lol
I have the starcraft tank noises of when its transforming. I could make any sound. Too bad I don't know how to make them into a CAB file .. Is there a tutorial somewhere around here? PM me if you need help learning how to make them.. I may even help you on the phone. It's easier when people have directions spoken to them.

I've seen in this forum alot of complicated Appz developed and never heard about an application that simply lets you browse and choose your sliding sound without having to edit the registry.
In cheaper Cellphones you have the options to add them without any need of edditing nothing, just save it in the device and its there for you.
I mean or at least someone that can create a simple Appz for sliding Sounds?

Start -> Settings -> Sliding Keyboard Sounds. You can turn them off completely, or choose the other sounds.
If you aren't going to use the Transformer sounds anymore, then just do a Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs and remove it...

I'm currently using a Metal Gear Solid 2 sound effects theme [codec call for SMS/MMS/Email | Codec Open for Sliding Open | Codec Over for Sliding Closed]. Though, I'm tempted to go to metal gear 1 or create a metal gear solid 3 theme.

hey guys.. been a lurker for quite a while, but I've run into a problem now and need help with this..
how do I uninstall this: SH4Y_Sliding_Sounds_Configure.cab
I installed mfrazz transformer sliding sound cab and then I had no sound at all for the slide... so I tried the other one Transformers Slide Sounds.cab and still no sound.. it plays the sounds in the Sliding Sounds settings but just not when i slide the phone
so I thought of trying the SH4Y version to see what it could do, but now I don't want it in there anymore, but it's not on the Remove Programs list
phone is ATT Tilt, no ROM flash, just did the hard/soft reset to get rid of bloat and of course added a bunch of stuff later..

how do I uninstall this: SH4Y_Sliding_Sounds_Configure.cab
Depends on how the cab was made. Not all cabs allow for install. I made mine to allow for install.
I installed mfrazz transformer sliding sound cab and then I had no sound at all for the slide... so I tried the other one Transformers Slide Sounds.cab and still no sound.. it plays the sounds in the Sliding Sounds settings but just not when i slide the phone
I've had this before. Try turning off sliding sounds (uncheck the check box) then exit the app. Then go back and turn on the sliding sounds and exit the app. This cleared it for me when the sounds had stopped one time.
The other issue is if you are running a custom rom, the chef may have disabled sliding sounds (but in most cases this is completely removing the sliding sounds app, and the sound files, so if you have the sliding sounds app, then it should work).
If you are still having problems after doing the above, let me know and I can try to help you debug this. Also, tell me which ROM you are currently using (I'm guessing the default AT&T since you mentioned removing bloat ;)) and whether you have the sliding sounds app or not.
