PLEASE UPDATE iPhone EDS v25c WITH THE PROVIDED SETTINGS.ZIP!! Unzip and replace old settings.ini file.
(1) segoe ui font was misspelled in the default setting.
(2) re-adjusted smsbg.
(3) increased the sms cache size.

i felt these are needed changes, but didn't warrant a complete release, as no graphical changes were added nor deleted.

Looks nice, with the sms-bubbles... One question though: can you create some more contrast between the sms-bubbles and the sms-text? Especialy the white text on the lightgray background is not very easy to read.

Tremendous piece of work - first impressions are excellent. If I had anything that I would change it would be the toolbar at the bottom - it's a little stark for me, especially when all of the other large areas of colour are graded and shaded. Something to soften the edges would be perfect...but it certainly no big deal.

Excellent example of what this forum can do so well - pull together the efforts of various contributors to make a whole that is greater even than the sum of its parts

I prefer to have my contact's phone number as my second line (as opposed to the company name as in other similar themes) hence the continuation of the iPhone-ish themes.

When i press and hold a contact it goes to a dialer screen with 2 buttons, call and cancel. When i press and hold Call, it just returns me to my All Contacts screen. Am i supposed to be able to make a call from this screen? It also looks like i can edit the number from this screen. Thanks for the great program!

the press and hold to call functionality is part of PocketCM itself and not these themes. I never use it so am only now noticing that selecting 'call' does not in fact make the call but goes back to the contact screen as you mention.

I suspect this is a bug in PocketCM itself.

Prolly not so much a "theme" thing, but with that last tease, I'm not so sure now: SMS saved messages.

I use SMS "my text" stuff a lot for things like "on my way" and "no, really, this time I'm on my way" and "sorry, I got caught in another hallway meeting, but now I'm on my way"... stuff like that. :rolleyes:

Any ideas on how to get these in there - other than "resend this message" which is what I'm using now. ;)

I came across this on the pocketcm site under the 'Customize' menu:

"In order to get the list of all settings, the easiest way is to make a dump, using PocketCM Contact 0.19 and above, simply hit the "dump settings" button in the options. It will give you an up to date settings list for the current version."

Hopefully it will be easier to find our way around the possible settings with the next release.

it is just great..but one little thing..in the green bubble.there is a bluish line..it is on the first line ..i think it is made by you to maker the grey bubbule shiny. but it doen't work for the green bubble..thanks :) it is more visible when text is about 100 characters or more..as the size of the bubble gets bigger it is more visible..it is on both themes by EDS and DVT

I think it just needs to be properly re-sized, the base image is larger than the picture box and with the built in re-sizing it gets squished. I will see what I can do.

yea i was looking to do the same, because having the whole area down there white would contrast with the above and just wouldnt look right... thats why i left it all blue down there until a solution came around.

the only thing i can think of and didnt get a chance to try was making that bottom blue bar graphic taller and photoshopping the white space in where the text begins and where the text ends maximmum on the sides and bottom..

hey for some reason i cant get the sms part to work with your new program.. if i choose to use the regular way to send sms its fine, but once i try to use this apps sms, (this is after doing the soft reset) for some reason even in the previous version; when i was able to use the programs sms, it wouldnt allow me to insert a space for some reason.. im using a sprint touch, and my primary keyboard is the v2 touchpal board.. is there something i might need to do so i can get that to work?.. it did work with the other ones

Attached are some screenshots of my phone.
I've used the black background from the old Black Roms to make a S2U2 screen and the notice file I posted earlier.
Launcher and Home are my modifications to HTC home to give that Comic iPhone look
My version of EDS Pocket CM file is attached, I changed the Font to Segoe and Segoe Semibold, changed some sizes, and made the unread background red.

I am loving this program again- I left for FingerFriendlyFriends for a while, but the newest version takes up a lot less RAM and runs really fast.

Loving EDS dialer too! Thanks for posting it.

2 bugs I just noticed.

1. The Options page text is the same color as the background. I had to switch to another theme just to make sure that all my settings were OK.

2. For some reason I get an odd black box around my contact images (although not correctly sized) for contacts that have an address listed. It doesn't show up when the contact doesn't have an address and obviously doesn't show up when the contact doesn't have an image.

Other than that, the theme is beautiful. Fantastic job!

This is a problem we have been trying to resolve for a few days now. It only shows for pictures of contacts listed as a favorite. We have asked Tene over at PocketCM to see if there is a way around this issue.

re: orange top bar. have you tried a soft-reset?

the custom KB i use is PCMKB: HERE (http://www.pocketcm.com/keyboard2.php). Use SIP change ("http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271008) to make PCMKB your default SIP method.

Copy the .zip file to your device in the \program files\pocketcm directory.

Then open PocketCM, and press/hold the phone button (rightmost button) until the 2nd level menu pops up. Slide your stylus (dont lift it) to the settings icon (2nd from left) - this will bring up the options page. Select the new theme and you are done.

You will have to exit and restart pocketcm after selecting the theme to ensure it loads properly

When i try to change the color codes around they won't work. just trying to change the background color (d2d2d2) in the SMS area to white (ffffff) and the green color good for the chat bubble to this blue color code for the images ive made

Yes, that's it. I noticed that the graphic is in the folder (presumably from a previous version?). But when I try to adjust the box settings, I can't seem to get it right.

just go to start -> settings -> personal -> sounds and notifications. slect new(incoming idk) text message from the drop-down box there and uncheck the "display notification pop-up" or whatever. enjoy!

Hi,

This is my first attempt at a theme for PocketCM Contacts. Its VGA only. I've used the Black theme that comes with PCM as the base and hacked a bit of Extraducksauce's iPhone theme (thanks, I hope you don't mind) as well as my own efforts in Photoshop to produce the end result.

Its a bit of a 'work-in-progress' as I only have a Dell Axim X51V so I can't fully test the phone and SMS function. I'll add other elements as I work them out.

I'd appreciate any comments.

I wanted to start over with my install. So I thought removing the program would just restore my original windows contact program. I guess I was wrong! Now when I try to open my contacts i recieve an error "ContactManager " cannot be found. So my question is... How do I restore my contacts program to original. I donot want to do a hard reset as I have it "tricked out" and do not want to have to reinstall all of the CABS. I am sure there is an ATT CAB to fix this. I am at work and do not have full access to the web to find the CABS. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Craig

try this for the fix:

How to uninstall?
If you installed the CAB version, simply uninstall it, like any other WM application.

If you installed the ZIP version, simply remove the file and undo any registry change you made by hands.

If you have problem, typically that typing on contact button shows an error, instead of the old contact application, you can either: reinstall and uninstall latest version of PocketCM. Or edit registry by hand:

* Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:M SCONTACTS
* Change "String 1" value from "\Program Files\PocketCM\PocketCM.exe" to ":MSPOUTLOOK contacts".
Make sure that you don't add the "" on the new entry.

Check out the attachment for the sms counter fix. i have the same problem with adding mobile numbers from pcm. i do it manually from oem contacts. a pain, but it works right the first time.

you can change the first/last name order and phone preferences with the setting.ini file in the theme zip:

Here is my first attempt at customizing a theme. The base I'm suing is iPhone EDS_v24b.zip, it is really great.
I made a few changes:
- different display of address in contact detail, as I'm in France (especially for zip code before city)
- different default image on detail contact page (see below)
- added some icons in the call buttons for mobile, home, office, email
- changed alignment in header display to left alignment, in order to allow for large name not to be below the back button (this has some side issues)
- slightly different display (bold characters) on main contact list

Now I would like some help/advice for a few issues:

in the call buttons of the contact detail page, I have a problem for the alignment, especially for email. Emails are usually very long. If i leave the current default (center), the start of the email is often overlapping with the email logo (see screen shot below). I have tryed changing the alignment to left or right, but it does not seem to have any effect. Very strange. See my them, I am using the 3 different value (right, left and center), and the picture below shows exactly same alignment.

Also there is something else I would like to achieve: in the detail contact page, if you click on the sms&history button, the new page shows a miniature picture that allows you to go back tot he contact detail page. This is great. However, when there is no picture, the sms page does not display a picture (although the area is active if you click on it you will return to the contact detail page). How can I insert a default picture, just like on the detail contect page?

the theme is pretty graphic intensive. i have my MDA overclocked to 240MHz using Omapclock plus. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271012) There are quite a few people that have been experiencing a bug with sms load time with PCM version25+, so it may be a program thing; imo, version 23 is the fastest and most stable. Try PCM23 & iPhone EDS v23x, and I'm sure you'll see a big difference.

if you uncheck the show fav icon, those "wonky" icons will disappear. OR, you can remove the icons all together in the zip file, and voila no wonky icons.

Well, I want the icons, I'd just think they'd look better if they wern't floating all over the place. The favorite icons are lined up to the right, why are the 'unread message" (green) icons all over the place like that?

have you tried removing the entire line? i don't think that'll work though. the only other thing is to make the font the same color as the bubble, but i don't think that's the effect you're going for either.

yea, thanks though. my goal was to rid it completely cause that way if i get a text that just says "ok" the bubble would be that small. this is something I've been trying to figure out for quite some time. may it's just hard coded. *shrug*

quick update to the settings.ini (25c):

I increased the max limit of incoming messages to 100 (thus, 200 total). If you want to do the same, DL and unzip the updated v25c settings.zip and replace the existing file in iPhone EDS_v25c.zip

(1) i had the segoe ui font misspelled in the default font box
(2) i adjusted smsbg location; i moved it from the older lower-right positioning
(3) increased the sms cache size

i felt these are needed changes, but it didn't warrant a complete release; as no graphical changes were added nor deleted. i'm always fiddling with my personal settings.

desktop
(2) Download UPDATED 25c settings (07_26_08).zip
(3) Unzip file
(4) Copy iPhone EDS_v25c.zip from your device to your desktop
(5) Drag and drop the new settings.ini on top of iPhone EDS_v25c.zip
(6) A pop-up window will ask you if you want to replace the old with the new, click yes
(7) drag and drop the updated iPhone EDS_v25c.zip into the PocketCM folder of your device
(8) A pop-up window will ask you if you want to replace the old with the new, click yes

(9) Restart PocketCM

is this the first time you're using PCM? it takes a bit of time to load your contacts initially.

if not, then delete your contact.cache.txt (located: \Program Files\PocketCM) and restart PCM; this will re-cache your contacts. when the cache is complete, which may take a while depending on your number of contacts, the theme will load very quickly.

When there is no picture, I would like to see the default picture, like in the main contact page.
How can I do this?
The region is active (linking back to the main contact page, but not signalled since there is no default picture). There is an image called "personsmall.png" but I don't see how to use it here?

One small think though, how do i remove the mirror effect?
I have tried to put ismirror=0, but it does not work
the only thing it does is there is no mirror effect when there is no picture, but if there is a realpicture (not the default one), then still a mirror effect

I've tried pretty much everything, and it does not seem to work for me, I can't change the background color for the edit contact page, very strange.
I am also seeing a strange issue after upload a new theme:
on the main contact page, i have removed the labels (mobile, home, email...) from the boxes at the bottom, but they are still showing up.
I have tried everything alos: reinstalling PCM, resetting device.... Very strange as the theme was working fine before.

Any I attached below my modified version of you theme (if you don't mind?). Mainly I have changed the menupanels to make them much finger friendly.

I also attach a temptative guide to creating themes, although not complete yet.

My most important issue so far is performance: I have 600 contacts, and it is very slow (same with your theme). I tried with the Dream theme, and it is fluid... What should I do? Remove some of the Alpaimages?

try this (see attachment). unfortunately, my mash-up theme will be a bit slower than the black or dream theme because it is image "rich". if you want to have increased speed you can do two things:

(1) overclock (caution): i have my MDA overclocked from 180 MHz to 240 MHz. so i really don't notice a lag in my theme.

OR

(2) use a theme that doesn't have many images (black, dream, or my personal favorite HHM (http://pocketcm.com/phorum/read.php?22,11457))

Your file fixes the title issue on the mobile, office, mail... buttons on the contact detail page. Not sure why as it looks similar to mine for this.
It does not fix the background issue in the contact edit page...

Anyway I think I have found what was really causing most of the issues: performance and refresh issues (like for the titlts of the buttons) was actually linked to not clearing up the cache. I had several hundred files in there (as I have been installing almost 100 versions of themes), and it was creating some confusion for the program. The performance also is now much more acceptable (after initial load of course), even with this picture heavy version.

The last serious issue I have (for the moment), is how to get the Menu Panel to be on top of every thing else? It works fine in the contact detail page, but when I am in the SMS panel, the SMSbox stays on top, hiding the last box of the meny panel (see attached!)
