Yes it's necessary. A complete dump of the pre-prod ROM is still missing I think. I never did any dumps so I wont be much of help to you.

Well we made the next important step. Now we have both ROMs. This thread was generated by jockyw2001 to check where is the problem with GPS (if HW or SW). So jockyw - now pls compare them and try to make "research" the differences. Big!! thanks.
