7th January 2008, 06:15 PM
I have been asked to create a PocketCM 0.20 compatible theme that matches the blue and black PointUI themes and here it is. It is based on my new HTC-ish v3.1 layout:

Please do not post adaptations/changes to this theme without PM'ing me first. I want to complete it before we start creating copies.

Be sure to check out my other themes:
iPhone-ish: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356092
HTC-ish: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359817
Vista-ish: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1953696
PointUI-ish: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=357389

Release History:
Up to v1.3 (PocketCM < 0.18 support):
- No longer supported

v2.0: PocketCM 0.20+ support
- Significantly updated since v1.3 with the most recent and stable HTC-ish v3.1 themes as the base
- New header layout
- Many, many changes!
- Screenshots to follow when I get a chance

Known Issues:
v2.0:
- I am sure there are bugs - let me know what you find.

Installation:
To Install, copy the appropriate theme file to the pocketcm folder and then select 'Theme' from options in pocketcm.

Credits:
Credits go to TENE!.

Enjoy

See the 'To Do' list above - still thinking about it. To be honest though, I like the black buttons so no promises :-)

Is it possible to make the SMS bubble borders more like those in the green theme? They look less jagged than the blue ones for some reason.

I have asked Anja31 if he would be so kind as to create updated bubbles. I am a novice at photoshop and am not getting them as smooth as he got the green one.

I am still considering doing a blue button theme - unfortunately, I will have to re-do all the button graphics (8 of them for the main menu) and it will take me some time (photoshop novice, remember) and I likely wont get to it until the weekend.

Any volunteers?

DvTonder,
I have a question for you: are you able to make a one skin in style Pointui theme (blue) for the keyboard? in particular for PhonePad International?

Unfortunately not. My themes are limited to pocketcm.

LOL, I am not going to chase the various pointui releases and themes especially since there are already a lot of black themes for PocketCM.

Once they stabalize PointUI and an official release comes out, maybe...

Thanks DvTonder, great skins, is it possible to change pop up keypad to match blue theme.??

New bug found, hold down contact for sec you get a keypad with green & red buttons, they have writing & phone image on together.
The buttons don't work but that's a PocketCM .18 issue.

I have created a Blue version of my HTC-ish 2.4 theme (for PocketCM 0.19)that matches the Blue POINTUI theme quite nicely.

It is available at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359817

I am working on v0.20 support for all y themes. Updates will be posted as ready.

Current bugs I have noticed:
- the original 0.18 sms bubbles are not working perfectly with 0.20 as I had hoped - Fixed!
- Keypad is showing phantom letters/numbers for some reason - have to figure out where to disable
- SMS character counter is back - need to figure out where I want to put it
- Maybe more bugs I have not discovered yet.

Hey DvTonder,

Love the PointUI theme. Have a couple of requests if at all possible:

--The icons along the bottom are just too small. As this is meant to be a finger-friendly app, those icons kind of go against it. That is my main issue with this skin. Any way to make those larger?

--I use the PointUI blue theme and thus have your PointUI blue skin for PocketCM as well. However, the dialer that comes up is in black. Anyway way to have that come up in blue as well? I use Lox's Gecka Beta 3 blue PointUI dialpad skin and it matches great with PointUI. Anyway to incorporate that into the dialer on your skin? Or at least make it blue?

Thanks so much for a great skin. Runs very smoothly.

You are welcome :)

As to the icons: I wanted to maximize the screen space for displaying the contacts list rather than buttons.

Dialer: Yes, my plan was to re-do the dialer page once there is a more stable dialer available for pointui

On a side note:
Vista-ish v1.0 will likely be the last 'official' theme I release. I spent my time figuring out the workings and documenting the settings.ini file and am happy to say that my work has now enabled other, more graphically inclined individuals like htctoucher, PhilD41 and PoorlyDuck to take the torch and run with it.

It was a lot of work but it was fun!

Sorry to hear you won't be carrying on with any more, but appreciate what you've done so far. Will look for the dialer update. As for the icons, I figured that was your reasoning, but they truly are almost too small to even be functional. I'm just curious if there's an easy fix to change the size of those that I could institute on my own. Again, I much prefer PocketCM for it's "finger easy use" and that's the only part that goes against it. Of course, I like your skin enough that I still have it on, but figured I'd ask anyway :D

Thank you.

It is not that difficult to change the icons:
1) you will have to find larger icon images for both landscape and portrait mode and replace the ones in the theme
2) go to the settings.ini file and change the $bottom$ and $bottom2$ variables respectively to the new pixel heights of the 1st menu icons and the 1st and 2nd menu icons combined
3) Look for the Phonepad section and change the top pixel height of the phonepad to the new height with the added size of the new iconx as opposed to the old ones.

That should do it

PointUI Black theme has problems.

List are empty (only contact photo are visible)

"PhonePad" is under Black below bar.

EDIT : Problems resolved after soft reset.

Great job thanks

How come you do all this great work but you never show screenies in your initial post to show off... or let us view and decide which theme we like best before requiring us to DL each one? Be kind, save an electron.
