IN the windows folder on my touch dual, there is a certain file, which I want to modify. However, this file is read-only. I've installed total commander on my device (the latest beta version, but also tried it with a previous non beta version) to change the read-only attribute. but without any result. I also tried it with SPB pocket plus 4. I'va also tried to change the attribute with altap salamander from my pc, but somehow the file is still not writable. Am I the only one with this problem and is there a sollution to fix this?
the file I'm trying to modify is HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml, in which the cities are listed that will be used in the weather plugin on the today screen.

As I mentioned above, I've tried it with total commander and failed. Tonight, I've tried it with resco Explorer and at first I failed to find the file. I seemed to be hidden. When I found the option in Resco to unhide hidden files, the file showed up. And again, I can't remove the read only attribute with resco explorer. In resco there's also an attribute rom checked, which I haven't seen before in any other program. I can't uncheck it. Might that be a problem? I hope someone can help me out here, for the "normal" touch, it was possible to just uncheck the read-only attribute.

I can't overwrite it, since it's read-only. Which attribute I can't remove somehow.

After a few attempts, I succeeded in copying a modified H_0409_WeatherCities.xml over the original with reco explorer. So now I only have dutch cities in the list for the weather plugin. THe only thing is, that the cities I added my self (Delft and Nootdorp) are not working somehow. Does any one know if other cities, that are not in the default list are blocked by any party? (HTC or accuweather.com?)

Get the file off the device.
Modify it,
Run enableRAPI to give yourself manager role (A belive this is what it does, it has all the same effects as manager role)
Then copy the file back.
The problem is that you are not on a high enough teir in the security setup of the device.
This is why DM servers such as intellisync can overwrite any file it wants, as it automatically assume OEM role.

I found Total Command(er) on the Gishler website.
The latest updates are from June 21, 2005 . This seems rather old.
Is this the wrong program or have the programmers done such a good job, no updates were needed since then?

The latest update I see is from April 2008, just FYI. It works fine on my HTC Touch Diamond, anyway.
