came across this...it would be really nice if there is an app like this for the Kaiser, or Windows Mobile to where i can just launch the app, put it near where the music is being played, and it will identify it.

In the UK you can dial 2580 from your mobile and put the phone mic to the music source. About 30 seconds later you get a text with all the song info.

There must be other services like this.

I love how it was such a big deal when the iPhone became capable of this.
Even crappy motorola phones have done this for years.

If you are an AT&T subscriber, you just dial #43 from your phone.
There is a charge for the service.

I don't personally have this service, so I can't give you any more info, but you can check out the link.

well actually, its more like i just didnt know until i came across the article that it was possible with the device. I'm no fan of the iPhone....but that doesnt mean the feature is nice, and plus, its a third party app...
I am actually on the T-Mobile network and was hoping there was an app to do it rather then a service...

If it comes standard on the Tilt maybe someone can compile a cab?
It'd be great if it could run off WiFi, Canada data is expensive!

The software is free. The service is not. For instance, if you're an AT&T customer, I believe there is a $3.99 per month fee for the service and you can look up as many songs as you want.

This software is handy piece of software...I'm amazed at how it can identify songs by listening to them!
I'm a bit confused about how this is supposed to be a service that you have to pay for. I am not an AT&T costumer and I can use this software on my TyTN II over GPRS or wifi to identify music. How is it that they charge me for this service?

Didn't try, was going off someone else saying it doesn't work. Sadly, I let my friend borrow my Tilt for today, going to test this when I get it back! Thanks fb401 for the cab!!!

Who knows...it's probably us AT&T customers who get hosed with extra fees :)

If I remember correctly it seems like the version that came with the tilt on the stock os pulled up the dialer and tried to dial out when used. I've since installed diff roms and therefore had to use my old at&t music cab that I used for my hermes (from the hermes section of this forum search for possible unlimited mobitv title only) and it worked, but not by dialing out. I've never noticed a recurring fee on my bill either with that way.

...?? r u sure it's not a matter of unsuccessful installation? My Kaiser is unbranded and it works perfectly. Try and install sth like Kaiser Tweak in order to disable the "unsigned app" error

It's free for you because the posted version is a cracked warez one. The official version gives you three free song ID's and then you need to subscribe to their service.

On O2 Germany there is a service like this. You call a certain number (forgot what number) and hold the phone next to the speaker. You then get a SMS with the song title and a direct link to a music store. I think it's free and it works amazingly well. I tried it with the last few seconds of a not at all well known song and it got it right.

There are cabs posted, but this thread is for MusicID (aka NOT TomTom). Either way, you would need to purchase the maps.

When you start it, it auto connect to the internet.
Same as XM Radio + Video. It directly connects to gprs. Even when you have wifi and the signal is full.

Just use satellite radio (I use XM), and you always know what's on ;) Speaking of this, I remember as service TCI Cable had when were living in Pocatello, ID (1990-1997) called DMX, it was a special box that hooked up to cable, and it had a remote with an LCD that would say what song was playing, by what artist and other info.

You are funny, because what you are saying sounds like "...just watch the music channels of your cable providers and you will know what's playing."
For those of you who own WinMo devices other than ATT Tilt, I have Samsung I760 from Verizon and this program works great. Now I can identify the songs which play on regular radios :)

I'm not sure if at&t still charges for this cingular app. It comes with a three day trial and is then .99 per song or 3.99 per month. I've not been charged yet... Maybe at&t doesn't charge for it?

As someone said previously, you are using the cracked warez version (posted in this thread) The normal Cingular version is a 3 day demo, the cracked version removes the time check and works indefinitely. You will not be charged, but you are steeling. I'm not a narc, just letting you know.

Whenever I want to indentify music, I record it on my phone (like recording a personal note).
I then transfer the .wav file to my computer and indentify it with Tunatic:
http://www.wildbits.com/tunatic/
It can listen in on the wave-channel of your computer, so it identifies the music when you play the file (it hear what you hear). You can use this program for everything, even identifying music in Youtube-vids, movies,...
NOTE: Probably because of RIAA pressure major computer manufacturers have disabled the wave-channel on sound cards. My Dell (Dimensions 5150) is an example. I have to indentify music using my mic.
