A while after I've installed official WM6 somtimes only the backlight turned on when I woke the device from standby. And sometimes the hardware buttons stops working to. When this happends the lights in the green and red call buttons are on, even when I set the telephone in standby. Sometimes when this happends the orange charging light also turns on, and I get a bright blue flash in the bluetooth light(much brighter than the actual bluetooth light).

I've tried to turn of the standby, now the device never get black screen(it seems that the black screen only happends when I wake the device from standby). But still the buttons locks up randomly during the day...

I've tried to soft reset, and removing the battery for a while when the screen turnes black, but this doesn't help. Bootscreen and everyting is black for a while.

Now I've downgraded to official WM5. The telephone was ok for a while, but now it shows symptomes of the same problem.
I'va also tried to remove the SD card before I flashed the telephone, but I still get the same error without the SD card.
Is this a hardware or software problem?
Anyone else have this problem?

Now I've tested to disassamble the phone and cleaned everything with CRC electro cleaner, and I've tried every tips regarding the white screen of death, but nothing helps...
I've also tried with many different unofficial ROM's found on this forum, still no change...

I have the same problem, had it with both WM6 and WM6.1 roms. Just now the device woke up on its own from standby (with a dim backlight) and I was unable to turn it on. Sliding out the keyboard just blacked it out, and I can't seem to bring it back to life.

None of the hardware buttons are working either, and the only way to get it back to life is to pop the battery.

I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.

The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.

Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.

Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
