ok, i have a quick question.. when i'm viewing a pic, and i click send, and choose my email account, i notice that its only sending the incredibly small thumbnail. is there any way to have it send the actual picture, instead of the 8kb thumbnail?

Compared to all the other pic viewers i've tried (vito's, PCM, HTC album, etc), S2V is the best for me for ease of use, options, etc. A couple of improvements I would like to suggest, A_C.

1. I love the easy gestures for rotation, and how it keeps to landscape or portrait (whichever you have rotated to) as you continue to browse; however, after rotating to landscape, I feel it would be more intuitive if the controls also rotated. I've rotate the phone in my hands to landscape after rotating the picture, so the gestures should all rotate, and the d-pad buttons should also rotate, so that all controls are from the frame of reference of the picture. This would just make the interface that much more slick.

2. It would be nice if there could also be gestures for zoom - say, keep gestures for rotating to the right side of the screen, and place zoom in/out as up and down swipe on the left side of the screen, instead of having both sides of the screen used for rotating the picture.

3. When sending a picture, if the orientation had been rotated to landscape for viewing at the time that it is sent, it is sent rotated the wrong way. Pics should be sent in their native rotation regardless of the way they are rotated for viewing.

4. I agree with the last post above, pics sent to an email address are way too small, it would be nice to send in the resolution of the original or give the option of setting the resolution - I don't know what would be most intuitive and user friendly, but pics need to be sent at a higher resolution.

I am using S2V with S2U2 and having a problem. I have set the portrait and landscape images in S2V and set S2U2 settings to 'Change JPG wallpaper randomly' yet I have the same wallpaper for portrait and the same for landscape each time?

First of all, I want to say this is a great app. I've been using S2U2 and S2V a while now and they're both indespensible. However I just got a new device and I've noticed a problem with zooming in on pictures. If I view a picture in portrait mode so there are black bars on the top and bottom and I can zoom in and out without a problem. However if I rotate the picture to full screen landscape mode, zooming doesn't work. The left and right dpad buttons still change the picture but the up and down buttons do nothing.

if there is plan to upgrade this really cool app this is what i would consider:

1-option to let the application accosiates it self with pic files.
2-view a sub folder becomes easier than the arrow a single tap that shows the pics and folders
3-call the camera application from this
4-three options for quality when emailing a pic low, mid, same picture file
5-zoom needs an easy geasture like(like htc album) or slider. not all devices have d-pad
6-slideshow
7-cache the thumbnail or a folder full of pics. waiting for pics to open is a bit slow

is there a limit to the number of images inside a folder?
s2v ran fine with about 500 images, now i placed another 600 images (all resized to wvga for performance) inside the folder and s2v either shows a black screen or, when the thumbnails appear, stops creating thumbnails after about 500 images.

S2V has never been able to handle landscape. Just don't allow the screen to rotate to landscape, and all should be fine...

In some cases, thats not that simple. On devices with G-sensor, the screen rotates automatically. That's the reason I can't use S2V:( I hope, that the next release will come soon, and will solve this problem:cool:
And zooming with gestures on the right side of the sceen as someone mentioned is a really good idea... Just like on the Omnia... that would be a nice feature too!:cool:

Anyways, S2V is the best picture viewer app what I have seen, thanks A_C!

Hi, I really love this image viewer, but since I updated my xperia X1i (generic swe R2A)with the latest official rom S2V crashes in the browser window.
I deleted the _cache folder to make S2V rescan the folder but that didn´t work.

Any ideas?

I found out what was causing the crashing. It was a corrupt picture in that folder. Deleted it and all ok again.

Here are my problems:

- some folders show 'no picture here' although there are folders in them in which there are pictures.
- some pictures (hires) don't react on zooming. I press the 'up' button and nothing happens.

This is the way it should be.

If you pick the folder name it only shows pictures in that folder.

If you pick the arrow it only shows the sub-folders in that folder. (So you will only see an arrow if that folder has sub-folders.)

- Under your device, run any File Explorer application; go to the folder where the CAB file is copied; run the CAB file.

A. You have to assign another pic as the Landscape wallpaper as well.

This has potential but crashes when switched to landscape, which is how I would normally use it. I wonder why it can't be used as easily as S2P. On my Omnia i910 S2P is just about perfect and S2V is just about useless.

S2V has never played nicely with landscape :( And since the last update was so long ago, it may be that A_C has ditched it. (He's done lots of work on S2P and S2U2 though, and HTC Album is pretty good for most things)

Hello.

I am still trying to find a picture viewer that is fast, easy to use and has some nice features.

S2V is the fastest viewer I found until now, and because it is free I would like to use it.

But...

It seems S2V is not able to switch to landscape or portrait mode depending on the dimension of the pic or using the G-Sensor. It shows all my portrait pics in landscape mode on my HTC Touch HD. I manually have to rotate the pics with a vertical gesture along the side of the screen.

Is it planned to add those features (G-Sensor, mode selection by picture dimension)?

Another really nice feature would be if S2V would show a nicer directory listing, perhaps including a random pic of each directory and showing the number of pics in each directory.

EyePhoto is excellent there, but it is incredibly slow when showing pics.

Sending the picture via Bluetooth would also be very nice.

I would love to see those few features added, because it would make S2V the best viewing tool there is. :-)

After soft resetting several times, using memmaid to do some clean up, turning off ilock, s2v v0.42 finally installed. This took a lot of time and patience and I don't know what the problem was but it was never there all the other times I have installed it, so just be patient if you have this problem and the best little pic viewer on the planet will eventually come back to your device and make you smile again. Thanks A_C.

I have this weird issue with S2V on Xperia. When I first installed it, it wouldn't allow zoom if the image was fullscreen and not rotated. As soon as I rotated it 90 degrees, I could zoom normally (bigger than it'd be in fullscreen). Turn back to portrait, no dice.

Then I upgraded to R2A rom and well hello, I had zoom. Now, it's gone again and AFAIK only thing I've tweaked is pressure sensitivity on screen. Also, it doesn't want to index some directories fully in one go, needs several quit/restart cycles.

Other than those issues aside, it's fantastic. If I only could zoom with onscreen gestures as well :)

I was low on storage memory so unistalled the program. I tried to install it to the storage card, but when I restarted my phone the program was installed to device. This also happened with s2p. Is there anyway to install these to the storage card?

Does anyone else have a problem zooming pictures? I have a Touch Pro and I know it has to be something with my cooked ROM. My wife has a Touch Pro with stock ROM and hers works fine. Nothing happens when I press the dpad buttons to zoom in or out, but I can cycle through pictures just fine.

You should double check that the pics are actually still there with a file manager. Remember, we are dealing with MS Windows here, so anything is possible. On mine the "100media" folder contains all my pics and is inside "DCIM" folder.

I'm not sure, but you may try to delete the cache folder (should be \storage card\_cache) & run S2V again.

I have foud out that S2V and S2P only work when the device is connected to the computer (not when charging from wall). If not, they just don't start. I have tried deleting the registry entries in S2V and also not running S2U2.
S2U2 works if it's not using directdraw. Anyone else having this problem?

You´ve did a really good job.

But at least I have one question (sorry, I haven´t found the answer anywhere else):

Is there a possibility to change the TimeFormat so, that it isn´t shown in "am/pm", but with all 24 hours? (I´m from Germany and would like to change the format, if it is possible)

And if it is not possibe yet: Could you program the possibility, or is the code somewhere to download, so that I could try to change by myself?

I wanted to through a suggestion out to you for the next version release, Add a landscape option for Today screen wallpaper. When I set the S2U2 wallpaper it asks Portrait or Landscape. Can we add the same to the Today screen wallpaper? Below is a thread with a how too. It basically renames the file to whatever the filename is _400_240.jpg and so on from what I understand anyways.

I LOVE this program! After trying Vito EyePhoto and finding that it crashed incessantly, I found myself on the hunt for another finger-friendly photo viewer. I initially downloaded this so I'd be able to easily set my S2U wallpaper, and didn't realize that it had the sliding interface (which, now that I think about it was pretty stupid on my part, since it is, afterall, called Slide2View, lol), and now I can't get enough of it.

My only issue is that my phone doesn't have a D-pad, and therefore there doesn't seem to be a way to zoom in and out. If it could somehow be programmed to work with a phone that depends solely on the touchscreen, so that all features would function, I would be the happiest girl ever!

It shrinks every picture to 14KB, making the pics I send very blurry compared to sending them the normal way. Is there a way to adjust the 14KB limit. I have searched but found nothing on this subject. Apparently I'm only using 14 of the maximum 600KB's. What's up with that? Thanks.

One question, on my Samsung Saga, using S2V, if I tap the screen, the lower menu comes up, but for whatever reason, I can't activate any of the 3 buttons (the back, ..., or quit). I've tried several versions (different versions and both the QVGA and VGA models), all with the same results, any help or suggestions on resolving this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!

Great App! I love the S2U2 and S2V applications. When I use the S2V app and turn my i910 to landscape, the S2V app closes and I go back to my today screen. I have S2U2 set to ignore rotation on the lock screen and tried turning that off to see if it helps, but no luck.

A_C has recently stated that he will be trying to do bug fixes for both S2P and S2V so hopefully this problem will be fixed.

What would be very Very VERY usefull is to Zoom in you double tap the screen then single tap to zoom in more then double tap to zoom back out, instead of using the hard ware button.

Do you have S2U2 installed also? If you do, make sure it was installed first. If it is already installed and running good, uninstall S2P again and also remove any instance of it in your registry and Programs, then reinstall it. If you are not using S2U2, maybe you should give it a try. They work good together. If you are not using it, make sure you try the steps above uninstalling and reinstalling.

Whenever I start S2V, it always returns to the root directory regardless of what directory I was in when last running it. LastFolder in the registry is always \, and changing this value manually will still make it start in the root.

I am running v.42 VGA on a Fuze.

edit: Self-resolved - I changed LastFolder manually then soft reset.
re-edit: Soft resetting again made it return to the previous behavior of going to the root.

Wow!! Great first post, dude!

All the S2-Applications are FREEWARE, A_C is doing them for NO CHARGE!!
Most of your so called bugs are feature-wishes, and if you would have read the thread before posting, you would have noticed that A_C knows of all of these wishes and he will work on if he finds enoughtime for! At the moment the first priority is on S2U2, after that A_C will do an update to S2P, but work on S2V is not stoppen, just paused!
Next time better give A_C a big "THANK YOU!!" for such great apps instead of posts like this one!

I know it's been reported before but I didn't see a fix yet. The buttons on the bottom of the screen don't work on my samsung i780. I hope this will be fixed in a future release. Or better yet, I hope someone has a fix for it already and I just didn't find it.

I tried Chili Photo Slide and the option to create an initial menù with the folder in which you have the pictures is great!!Have a look at it, i hope the feature can be added in s2v cause is really useful

I tried Chili Photo Slide and the option to create an initial menù with the folder in which you have the pictures is great!!Have a look at it, i hope the feature can be added in s2v cause is really useful

Dont know why you cant rotate ur images? I can easily rotate mine by using up/down slide gestures.

Please note that besides the basic gestutes (backward/forward slides) that allow you to change images you want to view, you can also use the up/down slide gestures to rotate the image.

I just installed this prog, and I think it works great. However one bug i found is when I rotate one picture the next one gets rotated as well when I slide to that. Somehow I think the program repeats the rotate function to the next picture along with the rotated one.
Any one else experienced this issue. I noticed someone asked this question before but i could not find an answer.

It looks to me like it rotates all the pictures to the specified orientation. I don't think it's saving the pics individually.

i have a problem concerning C2V.
the installation worked perfectly, but when i open it i cannot view any pic i have on my omnia. it always tells me that there are no pictures there.

I had a similar problem. The program opened up in the root directory, and when I clicked on a directory, "storage card" for example, it said "no picture here. So I learned that if I instead click on the arrow on the right of the storage card row, it would give me the subdirectories. It was the subdirectories that had the pics.

Whenever I start S2V, it always returns to the root directory regardless of what directory I was in when last running it. LastFolder in the registry is always \, and changing this value manually will still make it start in the root.

I am running v.42 VGA on a Fuze.

edit: Self-resolved - I changed LastFolder manually then soft reset.
re-edit: Soft resetting again made it return to the previous behavior of going to the root.

I found out that this only comes up when I am launching S2V from the Programs tab on TouchFlo3D. If I open it from the start menu, it opens the last viewed directory properly.

I have an older version of S2U2 working (after disabling Direct Draw per earlier posts).

S2V initializes and I see S2V in upper left corner next to Start button but after that it locks up and I have to exit program. No pictures ever load.

I really liked s2u2, so I decided to give s2v a try. It looks nice, but I have a problem using the buttons at the bottom of the screen ([arrow back] [...] [quit]). Pushing these buttons just isn't recognized as a push on the button. Maybe it has something to do with the strange screensesolution on my Samsung I780 (320x320). I use the latest qvga version.

FYI : Depending on the device, S2V may take some time to switch between images, especially when one views high resolution images. I have hundreds of 5MP images stored in my storage card and this delay becomes very annoying.

Here is the solution : Use PhotoResize (http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize) for resizing all images so that the longest side equals to the vertical resolution of your device. For the case of the Touch HD I have set the lengest image size to be equal to 800 pixels. PhotoResize works in a batch mode so you don't have to resize each image separately. You simply drag the images folder on the program's icon.

Shrinking the images not only allows S2V to switch really fast but it also reduces the space required for storing them in the device. Of course, zooming doesn't make sense any more, but IMO this not a problem as I only need S2V for watching images, not editing them !

I have the problem that in the folder_cache where the small icon/overview (s2v files) are stored only 999 files can be. As soon i have 999 files inside S2V does not save more icon/overview in this folder.

I have an issue, In resco explorer I have my pictures zipped up and encrypted so no one can see them. I decrypt the file and well, first, S2V can see zip files so thats a problem then when I use resco to navigate inside the zip file and open a picture up S2V says it doesnt exist.

Can this be fixed, I really dont want to move all my pictures to another folder just to look at them.

You can do it by yourself. Using Resco Explorer, tab and hold on a image file and choose "Open/Open with". Choose S2V from a list of recommened programs, also remember to select "Always use this program to open this file type". Then S2V will become a default viewer for this type of image.

if you have more than 1 type of image files (i.e. .jpg, .bmp, ...) repeat the above procedure for each type.

When I use S2V to send a picture via mms or email, it shrinks the file to 14kb. Therefore, it's tiny and barely visible when it's recieved, whereas if I use the stock picture viewer that came with my Tilt, the size of the file is only shrunk to 600kb. Is there a way to tweak this 14kb limit?

The only reason I don't use S2V is cos the buttons (<- ... quit) at the bottom of the screen don't work on my i780. So far i haven't seen a workaround for this. I'm running WM 6.1 from Samsung on the unit.

S2V is an excellent s/w. But I am encountering a problem now. When I try to change Today's background, it freezes. It used to work but when I hard reset my Kaiser (ATT Tilt) and installed S2V, it is giving me problem. The s/w should be fine, but I believe, it may conflicting with some other thing. Any way I cen send logs to help debug this ?

You can select the background picture using s2u2. It has a built in file browser. Just go to the appropriate section in the settings.

Yeah, I second this ! I have a Touch HD, and it does not have a DPad, which means I cannot zoom ! The newer HTCs, like the TouchPro2 also do not have a DPad, so I believe they will have the same issue. can we zoom in by just double-tapping ( ala Opera ), or perhaps by swiping the bottom or top part of the screen ?

I have a idea that would increase the speed of S2V: I have very many pictures on my Phone in a few folders (every folder 300 pictures). Every time when I open the first folder with S2V it loads the previews very fast. But when I open the next folder it takes a (looong) while to show the next previews. I think this problem occurs because of your "_cache"-folder... there are 900 previews saved and it have to search very long to find the right previw-file. If the previews would have an own folder for every picture-folder S2V could load the previews faster.
For example:
My pictures are located in:
storage card/pictures1
storage card/photos/test1
storage card/photos/test2

S2V could save the previevs in:
storage card/_cache/pictures1
storage card/_cache/photos/test1
storage card/_cache/photos/test2

I think this would increase the speed for the previews very much.

if i tap somewhere the program highlights 1 cm up. so when i try to push quit it shows the immage being 1 cm up and when i push an immage it opens another immage (gues what) 1 cm up.

I updated to 2.24 hoping it would fix a problem with my touch pro 2 s2u2 screen screwing up when switching to landscape mode. Well it turns out I need to switch it to GDI instead of direct draw.

That problem is now solved. BUT now if I slide the unlock too quickly (how I've always done it) it unlocks and then immediately re locks. I have to slide it to the end of the slide VERY slowly to get it to stay unlocked.

A second enhancement could be a finger friendly zoom :

Tip one time with finger on screen center to zoom in, this solves the issue with devices without a DPAD.

i understand that S2U2 must install in "main store" but S2V should be in "internal store" (because the mainstore is realy fast full)!

at install i can choose to insatll it on "internal store" but then it appears in "Programms" in the "main store".

I have set s2v as a default picture viewer application. All my pictures are at location \Storage Card\My Pictures, which is set as default in S2V. Now when i go to another folder through file explorer and open the picture, it opens in S2V, which is perfect but when i open S2V it goes to the last opened folder instead of chosen "\Storage Card\My Pictures"

Similar problem here. I have the t-mo hd2. I installed a program to make the phone go into landscape mode and now s2v won't work. it starts to open and then shuts down. I uninstalled and reinstalled it but it is still not working. Anyone know the registry edit to get it back. i use this program religiously to change the wallpaper for s2u2. its a must have. Thanks.

i guess maybe once it picks up photos in a folder it doesn't allow you to browse any deeper into any more subfolders within that folder?

What happens when you pick on the folder name (which is supposed to show the pictures)? I've never heard of the folder name and arrow function being switched, but maybe you are the first.

Hey Ac I want to say I love your work man seriously. One thing is that I had to uninstall the S2U2 because my girlfriend was able to get into my phone just by pressing the end botton 2x and not good when you want privacy. I though I would let you know

I've problem with S2U2 and S2P.
When i go to stand-by S2P stop the music, and S2U2 show only the album art but not the buttons to control S2P.
There is an incompatibility with some versions, because after time everything worked fine.

I like, but the zoom is unavailable on phones that do not have a d-pad. Like the HTC Touch2. Can you provide an alternative to d-pad up? Like lets say an option in the menu? Or it could utilize the HTC Touch's own zoom bar?

Hi guys,
I have recently installed latest version of S2V in my WM 6.1. It works pretty well :). I have a gallery folder in my storage card. It is loaded with 1000+ 240x320 wallpapers. But unfortunately, S2V is not displaying all those images in thumbnail view :(. It is showing hardly 50 images in thumbnail view. But I can view all images in the viewer mode, ie, when I open the last thumbnail and press right arrow (or I swipe screen to view next image). All the images are accessible this way and can successfully set as S2U2 background. But thumbnail problem is a big issue. I don't want to go after other image viewers since S2V is the best application available for stylus free image browsing :cool:.

I have a 128 mb RAM, out f which, I have 85 mb free space. Also I have 10 mb free phone storage space. (I don't think the free storage space, 10 mb in RAM is not enough, since S2V stores cache in storage card itself ;))

Anybody got a solution :confused: ? Please help me to solve this..
