S2V is a stylus-free picture viewing application. It can also be used to set up the wallpapers for S2U2 (0.97 or later); assign a pic to a contact; set it as Today's wallpaper; or send it via MMS/email.

Prerequisition:
- WM5 Phone or WM6 Professional devices
- free RAM: at least 6M for QVGA
- if you cannot start S2V, delete the whole registry tree HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2V, then start S2V again.

Changes of v0.42
- fixed the occasional bug that S2V quit unexpectedly when viewing a particular folder.
- added the options to change the sorting menu symbol. It's only useful for those devices that cannot display the triangles on the sorting menu. How? Create a registry value AscendingSymbol (String) at \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2V\, set the content to whatever you want, e.g. ^, or even a word (ascending). Create another one called DescendingSymbol for the descending order.
- fixed some minor bugs.

Changes of v0.40 (20-8-2008)
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/S2V/s2v012.png
- added sort option by time or name.
- added thumbnail pic cache (the cache folder can be custom by the registry value "CacheFolder" at \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2V\).
- added send function to send a pic via MMS/email.
- added sliding effect when zooming a pic.
- added support to RealVGA.
- reduced the chances of blank screen when a device has enough memory.
- separate CAB files for QVGA(low-res) & VGA(high-res) devices.
- changed some menu labels; for non-English translation, pls refer to the lang.ini file.
- fixed some minor bugs.

Changes of v0.38 (23-5-2008)
- added a delete function.
- added option to open a pic through the command switch (for advanced users, you can now associate pic files to be opened by S2V).
- added some shortcuts: ANSWER key to quit; END/OK key to minimize; tap the top right corner to minimize.
- reduced the RAM usage a little.
- reduced the contact pic size so as to reduce the chance of Outlook sync error (but for VGA or above devices, there is still chances that the pic will over the size that Outlook can handle).
- all system icons are live when S2U2 (v1.00 or later) is already running in the background.
- fixed the issue that some devices cannot run in Landscape mode.
- fixed some minor bugs.

Screenshots:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y159/ac8dl/S2V/s2v004.png
Thumbnail view & folder view (press the folder name to view that folder's pic; press the ARROW to view that folder's sub-folders)

Operations:
- Slide the screen to view the previous or next picture (or press the DPAD left/right);
- Slide on the left-side screen from top to bottom to rotate 90 degrees anti-clockwise; slide from bottom to top to rotate 90 degrees clockwise; when sliding on the right-side screen, the rotation will be opposite.
- Press DPAD Up to Zoom-in or Down to Zoom-out; double-tap the screen or push the DPAD-ACTION to return to the normal view.
- Slightly press the screen to call up the lower menu.
- Press the Back button at the Thumbnail screen to browse folders.
- When browsing folders, if there is an Arrow button next to a folder, it means that folder has subfolders. Press this Arrow button to view the subfolders.
- Shortcuts: ANSWER key to quit; END/OK key to minimize; tap the top right corner to minimize.

This looks great, I can't wait to test it. Its already posted over in PPCGeeks (that was fast).

I must say A_C....I just got the iTouch, and your apps (S2U2, and I think this as well) are better than what is offered on the 'original' devices. More features, better support, and smoother operation!!!!!

Keep up the good work!!!

In addition to the application mentioned in the thread in the quete below
i would like to point out the free application here
http://www.pocketcm.com/imageviewer.php

it would be nice if all three applications mix:
1 iphone display (from one pic to another) in the thread below
2 zoom and pan from the link i mentioned above
3 adding the pics to S2U2 from your application

Beautiful work yet again...
Would it be possible to add some options for the pics in future releases? Like delete, move, or assign to contacts ability?
Also, I like the scrolling just the way it is... enough with the "if it's just like father jobs' iPhone, it's perfect" attitude people. You want cover flow, there's software for it, or go by an iphone yourself

A_C,

Is this moving/renaming the file to \pf\s2u2\gfx\wallpaper(L).jpg(gif) or changing the registry to point to the new file?

Mike H

EDIT: I just picked a file on my storage card and then went back and checked the settings and it does change the registry to point to the new file. Sorry, I didn't follow my own forum rule: Search, Try then Ask. I skipped 2.

Great job A_C

hi A_C
Many thanks for your work....
beatuful and very useful.
works fine on my touch.
I have 2 question:
1) is there the possibility to point as default at the storage card?
2) is there the possibility to use it in htc touch cube in biotouch section (3 icons side).
I tried but also if this sw is set as path , each time "image and video" opens as default.

Looking for your help

thanks

Just installed and tested, works great.

Some suggestions:
Maybe you could setup a smoother slide. The slide is actually very quick , a little slower with a shadow transition would be great.
When we "click" on a folder, we cannot see that wa have clicked on it, maybe a little animation where we clicked would be nice.

Thanks for this beautiful app!

Thanks for another excellent app. while testing this i came accross a problem. my pics are in the following dir: storage card/dcim which has 77 pics..i only encounter this problem here when exploring this folder the program starts loading the images then boots me out of the program and the program closes itself. I have tried various scenarios to determine why it does this. Is it because of the amount of images..any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated. BTW I am running s2us v.097

Fantastic A_C!!!!! I have been using this app, and it is GREAT!!! It worked just as you described!! I do notice that at times the app will close on itself if there are a lot of images, but not all the time. It is a bit tricky to get used to finding out how to get to the files, but once you do, it is pretty user-friendly!!

Very nice..

But 2 things..

1. it does not remeber the last folder i picked(now looks at the phone in stead of my storage card)

2. when go to the folder were all my pictures are, it loads it, and after a view seconds it just closes the app..

everytime..
is there a limed of pictures it can load??

A first update to the FAQ:
Q. When browsing a certain folder, S2V simply quit by itself?
A. It's probably running at low level of free RAM. Not only the full screen pic needs RAM, the folder list also. It sometimes take ~4M to run S2V. So try to free more RAM & try again. Of course, I'm also finding ways to cut down the requirement.

I was just about starting developing an application like this, when I discovered S2V... I think I will start developing it, but for Tablet PC now (other of my gadget toys :)).

Just a few suggestions for future versions:
1. May be, it could remember the last folder
2. When changing from folder to folder, animation can be faster
3. Use some cache for thumbnails, as Windows does
4. Some kind of auto-rotate, reading device screen aspect ratio and rotating the image for best fit when needed
5. Zoom may be as HTC Touch II (and rotation may be too), drawing a circle to the zone to zoom in (and double tap to zoom out to original size).
6. Make these and other features configurable by the user (as S2U2), so everyone is happy :)

Keep working...

Sweet little application. I see a lot of potential with this and already prefer it to the default HTC Touch Picture Viewer. I can't wait until you include some of the zoom and rotate features.

Findings/Suggestions:
1. When launching the app, it starts in \my docs\my pics folder. I've got folders in this dir but no pics or files. On initial launch, S2V displays "no picture here.", but does not show the folders. In order to view the folders I have to click on the back arrow (which takes me to \my docs\my pics\ again?) and then it will show the the folders that are in \my docs\my pics.
2. I'd also like the ability to set default start folder location, and/or remember last folder on exit as already mentioned before.
3. Perhaps a drop down for selecting folder for quicker navigation (ie. like File Explorer). This would also provide the order by feature too that some people have requested.
4. This one is minor but possibly rename the Cancel button to Close or Exit in the main viewing modes, as I wasn't sure what it did at first but it is easy enough to find out, but leave it as cancel after you click on the S2U2 button.

Keep up the good work.

Cool little app, unfortunately I cannot start it on a HTC Universal with VGA (running original WM 5 ROM)
Only thing he does is setting the screen to black (whole screen), and after that it seems to hang...

Sven

Dumdidum: I don't think the problem is the VGA screen, as it works perfectly and smooth on my WVGA Toshiba G900.

A suggestion I forgot to mention before, would be to be able to associate file extensions (ie. jpg, gif) with S2V, so if I open an image with any file explorer, it would open S2V, on the selected image.

It works that way, thanks.

It's not so logical nor intuitive, but it works after all.

I can't slide to change or rotate the pictures after I've zoomed in or out.
Very very Good!!! But,
The same problem here.
And something else.
-I have had a blackscreen once when i want to exit the program.
I have to soft reset the device. HTC Touch Cruise.
On HTC Artemis P3300 i have no black screen on exit.

-And it takes one second to load every picture, and then i can slide to another.

-Can you made the dpad to change olso to the next Foto?

-How can i make this? "added switch command to open a destinated folder, e.g. "s2v.exe" \storage card\my pictures" Is that mean i can have a default folder?

-Can you take somewhere else the button S2U2? Many people don't have S2U.

-When i go back to the folders list, then exit, then lunche the program again, it takes me to the last open folder. Can you make it to go to the last position, or make settings, so that we can choose a default folser?

-Can you add slide show, insted of S2U2?
Thank You!

Hi A_C,

nice app!

i have problem when i browse the folder \storage card\my documents\my pictures containing all .jpg files
under that folder there have a sub folder \captures (contain .png files)

i did can view those .png (when go to that folder, thumbnail will appear and i can select it).

but when i view the "my picture" foler, no thumbnail show...

anything can help? please advice. thanks.

cheers and continue your good work.

great!
The only missing thing is to store the thumbnails into a selectable folder like Resco Photo viewer does. That would increase the speed!
another cool (but not necessary) thing would be to select the folder by DPAD and scroll between the pictures by DPAD

behaviour wise i'd prefer the 0.1 because when you're halfway sliding to the next picture, you can see a part of the next picture sliding in - imho thats the best visual feedback so that the user know that they are doing the right thing ( e.g sliding to view the next pic )

with the 0.2 sometimes im wondering if the program still loads or is it just the cooldown time between pictures.

just my 2 cents.. all in all, A_C man, you might as well be God and we all will worship you. Wait until my next paycheck comes, i'll get you a cuppa ! =)

Thank you for the hard work on these apps (S2U2 & S2V). Easy to use & very functional.

I was curious about one thing. Keep in mind that I have no idea how to write these programs so I don't even know if this is possible. I was using the S2V program and it reminded me of flicking through music/album art on an i-phone/i-touch. Would it be possible to take this type of program and create a new Media Player, or even skin WMP?

Here is a suggestion for better S2U2 integration:

If the user has a directory set for the wallpaper (which rotates wallpaper through all images in the directory) when clicking S2U2 wallpaper it should ask if you want to copy the picture to the wallpaper directory selected in the S2U2 settings or use as only wallpaper. That way you could add the photo to the list of photos to be rotated through or just show that wallpaper only.

Make any sense? If not ask me to clarify.

Thanks for all your great work A_C!

That's a really great application. Works WAY faster than the image viewer built into WM5. Not to mention that it looks cooler. However, as ahmedfikry mentioned, there is a problem with zoom - once you zoomed the picture, you can't rotate it or scroll to next picture. The only way to see other picture i found is to call the menu, go back to thumbnails view and open a picture again.
Ho0w about making the cancel button exit zoom mode instead of quitting the program?
I also noticed another issue - when a 32bpp png image (with 8 bit transparency) is zoomed in, transparency information gets discarded. Some images can look really ugly this way...

Also, is the huge S2U button really necessary? i understand that this app is a wallpaper changer fol S2U2, but i think some people (like me) might also want to use it as a standalone picture viewer. How about replacing the S2U button with one that would call up a menu from which you could set the image as s2u wallpaper, (maybe also Today wallpaper), maybe delete the file, quit the program (in case cancel button only reverted to normal zoom and allowed scrolling to next photo)?

@amdworldx - There's a free rar version for pocketPC, you know... Might be worth checking out when you have access to a PC:

hi ahmedfikry and to those having problems after zooming,

there is no bug regarding this. after you finish zooming in to view your pic simply tap on your pic so an icon tray will slide up from below and you can choose to go back to thumbnails/select this pic as a S2U2 wallpaper/cancel or quit the app. if you decide to just view the same pic again, click your d-pad center button to clear the selection tray and go back to viewing the pic.

I think what most people want is to be able to slide through to a few pictures, zoom in one one, zoom out and then continue sliding through more pictures (at least, that's what I would like to do). I think all what is needed is a gesture or button to reset zooming so you can continue sliding to other pictures.

Another thing is that between sliding through pictures, there is a small but annoying delay (sometimes the wait cursor comes up), preventing fast smooth sliding between multiple pictures. If anything can be done about that, then that would be great.

For the rest, the program is already very nice and useable.

I second that :-) It would be gr8..if we can continue sliding after zooming into any one picture. Also it would be gr8 if the windows processing icon can be avoided if the picture size is large. Then we can say that WM has more features than IP :-)

Q. When Zooming & paning, cannot go to previous/next pic; cannot rotate?
A. Yes, because it's a complicated situation for the program identify all these finger movements. However, enabling DPAD navigation or a quick move back to navigation mode is possible and considering.

Q. When browsing a folder which has sub-folders, the pics under it cannot be browsed?
A. Yes. When opening any folders with sub-folders, the sub-folders will be listed first. Otherwise you cannot go into these sub-folders if all the pics are displayed first. Then you tap that folder (at the top) again, the pics will be displayed.

Q. Sometimes the waiting clock will come out, can you eliminate it?
A. Buy a faster device. A large pic is a large pic.

Hi A_C, the new features in V0.20 are great, but I have to say that it runs very slower than V0.10 on my high resolution WVGA Toshiba G900 (it's a fast device (520Mhz CPU and 128MB of RAM), but it has much more pixels to draw on the 800*480 screen than the QVGA screen :p). So, my question is, I don't know what have you changed in this version, I guess you added some graphic effects, and what I want to know is if you could make some of the optional (configurable) on coming versions, so I (and other high resolution screen devices owners) can use this GREAT application :).
I think VGA devices would have the same problem too.

Thanks in advance,
Keep the GOOD work...

And a suggestion (take it if you want), it would be GREAT that in the first post, you mention what are the features (as the changes log you have for current version) you are working in for the next version, so your FANS ;) knows what to expect on the next release.

Thanks again...

Any chance of seeing a picsel browser-like solution? When you tap and drag, it's considered a pannig movement, but when you double tap and drag, it's zoom in/out, sliding near the bottom edge scrolls to next/previous picture, sliding next to top edge could rotate picture.

finthamoussu
15th January 2008, 02:34 PM
Other suggestion may be:
When changing pictures (draging left or right with a fast gesture), you can only change to the next picture, and then you have to wait a while to make the same gesture again because if you don't wait, the second gesture is not recognized. May be you could do something there, like capture the gesture, and execute after the first gesture action is completed.

I hope you understand me (sorry for my bad English).

Thanks again for your work A_C

mr_deimos
15th January 2008, 06:21 PM
That's probably because when you change picture, program loads the next one into memory (so it always has the current, previous and the next pic in the memory), so that the changing animation can be smooth. But that's just my guess.
But that gives me an idea: A_C, wouldn't there be a way to load the image at half the size it's loaded now and display it scalled up twice (maybe with some bilinear or trilinear scalling)? This way loading times should be shorter for scrolling, and if the image isn't changed for a while, then it could be loaded at full size.

cliemonster
15th January 2008, 10:24 PM
I dont' know much about the process, but it seems to me there is always going to be loading time needed for larger pictures. I don't have a problem with that. It seems like we're maybe expecting a little too much, to have such a fantastic image viewer but still expect it to load big images lightening fast with no lag time. I think for me a more reasonable alternative would be to not have the standard wait cursor popping up in the middle of the screen. Maybe somehow that could be changed to just a little hourglass up in the corner, or something else less obtrusive.

I also think having a menu button in the center rather than the s2u2 would be awesome. You could have the s2u2 button within this menu. Also, any chance of reinstating the slide animation AS you're performing the gesture rather than once the gesture is completed? I'm really glad this program is taking off. It completely blows tene's PictureViewer out of the water even on just the second version. Hope it continues to get better.

Btw, I have one bug. I wanted to view the windows directory which had about 1000 pics, but it wouldn't let me scroll past the first 100 or so. Any obvious reason for this?

I have in my MY DOCUMENTS / MY PICTURES a few pictures (jpg and gif).
These are not animated and I can reach them with explorer.

However S2V does not see them, only the png files

Bazzz, you must click the path at the top if you have subfolders. Example:
/My Documents/My Pictures
/FunnyPics
/Contact Pics

You would click on /My Documents/My Pictures to see all the pics in that folder.

Wierd... I edited the shortcut to add the switch command. My pictures are in \storage card\my documents\my pictures\, so I added that.
Now when I click the shortcut, it opens in that directory, but shows it empty! If I go up 2 directories and they go back there, only then do I see the pics!
Any thoghts on this?
Thanks!

i like S2V very much...

A_C, here's my opinion:

- added command line to a folder is great

- how about adding command line to a file so we can use S2V as default picture viewer? (e.g: when assigned to a file, S2V then opens in viewing mode, not browse folder mode)

- zooming mode is still a problem, when zoomed in can't slide to other picture as if it's locked

- change 'S2U2' button caption to 'Options' or whatever else that could bring more options and settings would be great

- tapping on a folder or a thumbnail sometimes need to be done twice or more, as if it detects the tap as a gesture to pan/scroll. maybe the sensitivity is too high

- about speed problem when viewing a large picture, i think there's a solution to gain speed. try the resco photo viewer: it loads necessarily to fit 240x320 pixel screen, not the whole picture and then zoomed out to fit the screen. it significantly reduces time to load. maybe you could consider to use similar method

that's my opinions so far. hope this helps S2V become the most favorite picture viewer program.

thanks.

This is great. I think it can become the best viewer. So far I've used PCMViewer, Resco Photo Viewer.

Feature requests
1)can we zoom using the screen instead of the DPAD?
2)double click screen --> back fit screen (So you can scroll to the next picture, otherwise it only tries to pan.
3)Speed improvement.

problems noticed:
1)if you quickly click a folder or a picture it doesn't take. You have to click and hold a little.
2)I don't know why it doesn't save my last browsed folder.
3)It doesn't show the correct amount of battery remaining (but It's not that important)

I'm using a Sprint Touch.
Thanks much

A_C, I don't know what you're thinking about doing with zooming. For me initially I was hoping for something like Picsel where tap-and-drag pans while double-tap-and-up/down zooms in and out. However, sometimes the double-tap can be a pain in the ass, so one thing I was thinking about for zooming via screen rather than only hardware buttons was to integrate it into the menu. So when in fullscreen, rotate and panning gestures work, and when you tap to bring up the menu, you could have a vertical slider going down the length of the right side to zoom in or out. Just a thought for a simple way to integrate it.

A_C,

Awesome program again!!! Great Job. I like the Idea Blowfish is onto here. If you can do it I think his idea works best with the exception of rotating and scrolling. There would probably need to be a zone created in center of the screen for the zoming and panning. That way the scroll and rotate works as it does now. The tap for menu as it is now would need to be removed and maybe a hidden button added at the top center or top left to bring the menu forward.

If not here are 2 more ideas:

1.) Keep mostly as it is--Romove tap for menu and just add tap to zoom. Maybe 4 taps of zoom in stages. Double tap comes all the way back out. Of Course it would need to zoom to the location tapped. Panning & Rotating stay the way it is. Probably the easiest of all.

2.) Zone the screen. Kind of like efrost FTouchflo. bottom of screen zone could be for rotating= left-to-right rotates counter clockwise and right-to-left rotates clockwise. Or keep that where it is now. Then left or right side of screen could use up down screen touch controls for zooming. Center area for panning.

Again menu would have to be done differently.

Bug found for me--
After I have used the zoom feature I cant get it to scroll again. Even returning the picture to its original size. I have to bring up the menu go out of the picture I am in and then come back in.

Thanks,

Curious George

Anyone make an OEM package for this program that works?

I tried, but there are conflicts with file names (same ones as S2U2), so I am stuck as to where to go from here.

Great program, though, so thanks for making it.

What I was thinking was that the rotate and panning gestures would work as they do now, while you are in fullscreen mode. Tap on screen would still bring up the menu, but it would have the zoom ticker on the side. Zoom to the desired level, then tap the screen again to have the menu system disappear. Pan as needed. A gesture that rotates in fullscreen would instead zoom if the menu is open (and graphics would obviously make this distinction clear enough). That way you don't waste screen space by blocking out zooming and panning zones. I think that would be a disaster actually. Half the time you'd end up straddling the zone between zoom and rotate/pan and it'd get annoying fast.

How about this:
Rotate: slide up & down on the sides of screen (Just like it is now)
pan: any motion from the midd section of the screen
zoom: tap, tap-Drag (Like Picsel Browser) (no scroll bar please)
Full screen: Tap, Tap
Slide to next/prev pics: Is it possible to make it work like iPhone. As you slide finger it starts panning and bring the next picture next to it.vs having to pan most of the screen without any movment and then all of a sudden it changes.

Thanks much.

Beautiful, like it a lot, working well on Hermes (AT&T 8525) with official WM6 ROM.

Some suggestions:
- It would be better if instead of Cancel the button says Quit or Exit.
- Any chance to zoom like Acrobat Reader? (slide up-down to zoom out and down-up to zoom in)
- It would be a good idea to use de Dpad to rotate, I don't know about the other guys but I don't usually rotate my pics.

That'll be all, no complains about the slide to next, pretty smooth.

Great app!

I dunno, rotating is a must or it just doesn't look good. I think auto rotate would be good, but I think the picture fitting to screen either way is a must. I do like it how it is, but using the dpad to zoom would be cool. it's a tricky one, but zoom is most important. i still love it as it is, but the zoom needs to be fixed so you don't have to exit the photo to get out of zoom.

 i love this though. so happy about it.

I also am having problems with S2V; at first it worked great, displaying jpgs and gifs on my storage card. Now it does not show the jpgs and gifs it previously showed; only pngs. I can't think of anything I changed, so I don't know why it stopped displaying the images that it previously did.

Got this running now and it works flawlessly aside from this:

If i put a subfolder in my "My pictures" directory, it won't show the pictures in the folder (not the subfolder, those from "my pictures"). Is there a workaround?

Other than that, you may have seen this on iPhone: When you zoom into a picture you can save that image as background for the slidelock screen. So it's like saving a screenshot of the zoomed picture. This function would be awesome.

One idea...

Currently, I have to navigate to the directory where the images are stored, which might be slightly time consuming. Instead, there is one similar viewer, which presents user with a flat list of directories containing images, not others. I think it might be at least an option... of course with some simple configuration which directories include of exclude.

Other than that:
* it was already discussed - impossible return from zoom mode to browse prev/next mode, sometimes you have to tap twice and keep tap touch for a long time
* if S2U2 is not installed, the S2U2 button could be hidden
* on my Treo 750v, battery indicator in a top bar is always empty

Anyway, it is a wonderful application! Thanks a lot!

Ugh! If you like it that way, just use PictureViewer. Personally, that system completely ruined it for me. Can't organize by alphabetical, can't view some folders, can't even see which one is which half the time because the filepath is too long. That totally ruined a completely decent program for me.

Well, I did it as you wrote :)
Now I have directories organized by images count which is quite OK for now (anyway, it is also zero dot x version... so I guess some development goes on).

Your application also has to break down directory names and it shows even directories with no images at all which I suppose is quite silly - why show, enter and browse directories with no images?

But of course, it is your application and I think you are absolutely right if you are doing it your way :) I just wanted to add my two cents.

Ah never mind I got it. It is pretty cool. I can't wait till gif pics work ;)

:Edit:

Oh and One thing about the old one that I did like was on the old when you scroll your finger down it doesn't do 2 turns. It made it easier to rotate that way, not worrying how far your finger goes down on the screen. I really liked the old rotation. It was a bit more simple. and also the design looked a little more smoother on the option bar at the bottom on the old one. but i just copied the old PNG images to the new folder. that's not a big problem at all :D

I was having this problem, but I don't think its actually a bug. It depends on where you tap. If you tap the name of the folder, it opens that folder looking for pictures, and if there aren't any you get the "No Picture Here" message. But if you tap the arrow over on the right side of the screen next to the name, it will open that folder looking for subfolders. I was going to uninstall and go back to version .1 till I figured that out. The only problem I still see is the gray highlight doesn' match up with the folder names once you scroll the screen. Other than that, this version is fantastic! Hope that helps.

Great app, runs really smoothly on my wizard. At first, i got the "not a valid ppc app" error too, but that's just because i forgot to shut down S2U2 during its installation. Just as readme file says:

- if you have S2U2 installed, your S2U2 must be upgraded to v0.99. And S2U2 must be stopped when installing S2V.

The only thing i could complain about is the fact that the tap area for the arrow allowing to go inside a folder is a bit too small - migt be wider (maybe even half, or 1/3 of screen width), so tapping left side of folder name would open picture in it, and tapping on the right side (but not nescesarily the arrow) would go deeper.

And the rotate animation is a great addition too :)

I was wondering. how about slide your finger up on the left side of the screen to zoom in, and down to zoom out, and then on the right side slide your finger up or down to rotate the picture? Obviously in zoom mode the rotation should be disabled until your out of zoom mode. I did like the fact on the old one I could slide my finger how ever far I wanted down the screen without worrying about it doing a double turn

The rotation at the moment, could be a little more simple by doing that. Plus to zoom in that way would be pretty awesome. and simple too. I dunno, just an idea

Love this application though. one of the top 5 I have for sure :D

yeah, i finally figured that out. i depends on where you click on the menu directory to see the images or subdirectories. see visual below.

Hi A_C:
How about adding a cache feature to this awesome photo-viewing app?
Phone users like me, who has using the phone camera a lot, has a lot of photos in one directory(I have about 700 photos in the My Documents/My Pictures/ directory of my Storage card).
Everytime opening up S2V, I have to wait until every thumbnails comes up, that would take a lot of time for 700 photos.
So how about a preload thumbnails feature, or a thumbnail cache feature?
It might help a lot to users like me! thanks!

I have a similar problem on my Touch but only with the new 0.3 version. However 0.2 and 0.1 works OK.

You click the screen jump or tries to launch something but then it stops and nothing happens.

Could we get a zoom feature using the screen. I read it from the notes of the new 0.3 that we still have to use PAD for zooming. Please put a feature to zoom using the screen.

Thanks,

hey A_C.. nice app.. first time, since it is posted, that i used this app.. and it's good.. and fast (at least faster than other sliding picture viewer known)..

suggestions:

1. use the back (HW) button to return from fullscreen view to thumbnail view
2. sending via bluetooth (this maybe farfetch, but still, it's just a request)
3. uhhm.. zooming and panning improvement (maybe tap and hold will initiate panning)
3.1 OR there is a floating zoom or pan icon (like a semi-transparent magnifying glass or 4-way arrow) in one corner that can be toggled to switch functions.. double tap screen to return to normal browse mode (swipe left to right, right to left to switch pictures)
3.2 OR tap and swipe up or down from center of screen to toggle zoom in or zoom out. tap and swipe up or down on left or right edge, to rotate the picture.
3.3 in zoom mode, a navigational thumbnail can be utilized (like in HTC PhotoAlbum)
4. directory caching.. makes directory with lots of pictures load faster and lessens memory (RAM) consumption
5. better browse dialog.. the "\" in each subfolder is an eyesore.. maybe it'll look better like this
\Storage Card\My Documents
Music >
Pictures >
Videos >

hope this little app grows.. and i believe you can do it A_C

hope i can donate.. but truth be told.. i'm just a student, barely living with ample allowance.

hope others can give better..

Nice improvements in 0.30! Here are my notes on current and future state of S2V:

1a) Zoom via display would be very nice - e.g. the same swipe as for rotation (which is very quick, great!) but made in the central part of the screen or the left half of the screen as opposed to the rotation done in the right part of the screen

1b) Not sure hot to handle with the panning, though... :( maybe the initial place of tap should make the difference? Start in the middle right & going up/down means rotation, start in the middle left & going up/down means zoom, start in the center and go in any direction means panning (see the non-screenshot image).

2) I suggest not to show directories with no images inside, it is useless and confusing. Or at least - if you want to show them for some reason - show them with different font/color/decorations/... to distinguish them from directories with images to show.

3) I don't have a S2U2 installed because I don't change background. Is it possible not to show S2U2 related commands in such a case? Again, it is quite confusing.

4) New font looks strange sometimes on my Treo (see screenshot, the "Quit?" question).

5) Battery indicator is still empty on my Treo (see screenshot).

WOW!
A_C, this is a very very good app. :) v0.3 works perfect on my ASUS P535, and more fluently than other versions. Thank you for the great job.

Hi A_C, v0.3 has really cool improvements, but folder browser is not working correctly on my Toshiba G900 (WVGA 800x480). It starts OK, but when I change the current directory (tap back) I get black screen. Also it doesn't work very smooth on it, I am sure it's because of the screen resolution, because it has a 520Mhz CPU, and when I tested it on a HTC Wizard which has a 200Mhz CPU and QVGA screen it works perfectly (no black screen problem) and very smooth too.

Keep working A_C, you have become my favorite developer since S2U2 ;)

S2U2 has a clock face on top and "slide to unlock" at the bottom, and also has that "shading effect" (what's the correct term for this?). In any case, sometimes a jpg you like may not be so good when viewed by S2U2 because some part of it may be blocked, or shaded. So, it would be really nice if S2V has a mode to see the jpg as it would be displayed by S2U2. Hope what I'm saying makes sense. Tks!!!!

S2u2 0.99 and s2v 0.30 on a P3600 Wm5. When i open a directory with 30 images the loading is a bit slow. Same think on the sliding effect.

We try the same apps (0.99 and 0.30) in HTC Touch (ELF) and it's a lot faster!! Could it be a graphic problem? Touch's 200mhz should be slower :P

i think he means that if u rotate the pic you are viewing and slide to the next one, it will be rotaded too, that is kind of annoying.

On the directrory selection page show 'storage card' ok , but when i enter it,
it just displays 'no picture here' and no directory structure, this happens on every folder i go in device memory, s2v denies to list subdirectories. so i can't view any pictures.

my device htc elf 128/64
s2v 0.32

Edit: I have to change the registry manually to set the last accesed directory in order to view the folder. But sometimes it just shows a black screen and i have to rerun s2v(memory issue?)
