Any good cases out there?

PDAir are now offering a flip-type black leather case ... 1st I've found.

Probably not the highest of looks - I prefer Covertec myself - but cheap enough (USD$28) and will have to do until the real thing comes along (I always wanted to say that :) )

Boxwave are also selling cases (and other stuff): http://www.boxwave.com/products/dlcase/htc-touch-cruise-designio-leather-case_3046.htm

The credit for finding this goes to Dave Fields who first posted a thread here about Boxwave accessories for the Touch Cruise.

Hi,
I have an Orbit 2 and goy the Pdair flip case last week.
very good and came the next day after ordering
Only issue is the lights on the front are hidden by the case, but for me thats minor.
All other holes for buttons, 2 x camera etc are ok.
Would buy another.
Cost £15 with delivery

I tried it in the Artemis aluminium case from Pdair and it fits but is a little tight to close the front once inside, camera hole is wrong but otherwise this is the style of case I want, its saved my Arte from many a fall, the case looks battered but the device is still as new - Mike

I've been very happy with the Bugatti cases I bought for both my XDA Mini S and original Orbit...

http://www.bugatti-mobilecases.de/html/index.php?lang=EN

Bugatti don't offer a case for the Orbit 2/Polaris yet, so I mailed them to ask when it will be available.

Their marketing department told me that it's not available in Germany yet, doh! So I sent them a link to the German O2 site, I await their response with anticipation...

Update: "The XDA Orbit 2 is available in combination with a long-term contract. The device without a contract is extremely expensive. The estimated amount of sold cases does not justify the expense at the moment. Hopefully we will have other possibilities to receive an original device. Please sign up for the newsletter. This seems to be the best to do at the moment."

I've been very happy with my previous Piel Frama case for HTC Touch
and I'm a bit quite disappointed by my Boxwave case (except a very good price for a general good quality)
However, in order to get the top of the top leather case for my new Polaris, I will order the new one at Piel Frama
For sure prices are high, especially in US$, but the appointment with quality is set !

My problem with this PDair case is that there is an extra plastic cover... Which would make any Touch experience (considered in the Screen Protector topic(s)) kind of useless right? Please tell me if:
1. You can remove the plastic cover without making the phone fall out all the time;
2. Does the Touch still work accurately? I would doubt it but that's why I ask.

Thanks.

I bought the Aluminium Case (Black version) from PDAir, and I can say I'm quite satisfied. After a week of use, no scratches (often I keep my Cruise in a jacket pocket with keys, coins etc.), good protection, maybe it weights a bit due to material, but not so much. I removed the hard plastic screen cover, it's easy, a two minute operation with a cutter and internal foam-like protection is still there. The only thing I had to say it's a little difficult with the screen border usage sometimes, but overall a good product.

Here's some live pics (all taken with Cruise, obiovously!) :)

I have recently purchased this one. Have not received it yet, (nor my cruise!) but it looks like exactly what I want. Easy access to screen etc but not a lot of flappyness when it's open.

Hi,

I received the case I mentioned a few posts back.

It's not great, but it's not horrible.

Don't expect it to save your device if it falls. I don't think it was made for that anyways.

the top half of the case is tighter/narrower then the lower half. Not a huge deal, the flap/magnetic buckle still reaches.

The lower half of the case, right about where it meets the cruises' hard key panel is not really a stiff material so it doesn't fit properly. Hard to explain. I guess they should have made that area tighter. But again not a huge deal (If you want a pic, PM me).

All the buttons are still accessible, which is good, except the top right x button is hard to hit usign your finger because of the case. Also, another problem is the hole for soft reset is on the wrong side, so you have to make your own hole!

All in all, not perfect, but not horrible. For me, I am really careful with my device but I wanted some basic protection for the screen and surrounding area and i didn't want to have to mess around with a case to answer the phone or go on the pda quickly, with extra flappy case in my way, and this does not have that. it's a simple flap that is the size of the screen that does not get in my way, and will help protect that area from being banged around in my pocket. So because of that, I can ignore the downsides of the case. not bad for $16. i bought one for an s710 smartphone too.

I would suggest the Brando or PDAir Sleeve cases (http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02353&dept_id=039&cat_id=0851 and http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000220&products_id=7224).
Both cost $28. I've ordered from Brando. Will let you know what my experiences are. Do note that there will be a plastic cover, but I will probably remove that.

Safety before everything with your TC ;)

Review for the HTC Touch Cruise (Sleeve)
Manufacturer: Brando
Website: http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02353&dept_id=039&cat_id=0851

Review:
I've received this case on Wedensday, I ordered it one week before: 1 week shipping.
It came in a very nice case from Brando. I also bought a screen protector together with it (see other topic).
The protector is made of high quality materials and feels very tough. All cutouts are carefully chosen and it really hugs my device.
Note: this case should be used for armoring your device, not for general storage, so it can be operated (and should be imho) without removing it from the case, but do consider downside no. 2.

Also included is a handy belt clip. It consists of two EXTRA parts: one part which can be screwed on the back of the case (just above the camera) and the other clicks in the case this way, and is easily attached to your belt. Standard stuff.

Some downsides:
1. The touchscreen area is again confined (hard to press the X button or any other edge of the screen).
2. There is an EXTRA plastic cover, which only collects dust and scratches (I will try to remove it later - still unsure).

I hope this review helps anyone looking for a decent case.

Hello everyone, I have a question to see if anyone has tried a clear plastic case? I am looking to keep it in my pocket while still able to keep it in my car-holder (for GPS nav) without removing out of a "pouch".

http://www.netimes.com/shop/crystal-plastic-hard-case-for-htc-touch-cruise-p3650-p-975.html

Also, what is the impression of the the silicon holder? It serves similar purpose for me, but I am worried about how dirty it might get?

http://www.netimes.com/shop/white-silicone-skin-case-for-htc-touch-cruise-p3650-p-981.html

Lastly, if anyone had experience with either item, what is the "durability" of the case given the need to change battery/SimCards/etc...

Thanks for your feedback.

i just ordered both of those from NETimes, along with a car charger...the total cost was like 17$ (wow!).

Leather cases are so tacky looking, and most are really bad quality leather anyways; not to mention pretty much render the device unusable anyways, making it a pain in the ass to take it out of the pouch or unsnap this and then move this flap, etc..

I will post a review of the silicon, and crystal netimes cases after i get them...hopefully soon!

They look like the best option
=============================
Review - 2 Cases from NETimes, 1 silicone, 1 plastic see through / hard shell
Ordered on friday, received on monday, paid for fedex international expedited shipping.

Silicone: The fit is not perfect, it is loose in spots.
The material is very thin, I was hoping something a little bit more durable, like some ipod cases i've seen in stores.
There is a cutout for the volume, stylus, microsd, front camera, front speaker, back speaker, back gps, back mirror, and usb / mic and those two divits that appear to be for a belt hook.
All of the other buttons, and the front panel (d pad, buttons) are covered for protection, but have spots in the silicone for them.

The cut of the material is pretty crappy, You can see where it was connectec to a string of others and just ripped them apart, like a childrens happy meal toy made on an assembly line.
Also, after using this case for a few hours, I noticed that the material is a magnet for lint and dust.
I would not recommend this case at all. The pictures of it are very deceiving, they make it seem like a better fit and material than it actually is.
Another thing that is strange, it smells...very bad, like burnt rubber / plastic / chemicals. Yuck!

Plastic Hard Shell: This one fits absolutely perfect on the device, although in the packaging for this case it says it's only for the P860, while on the website it states it's for the Touch Cruise. You have to press down very hard for the snaps to get locked into place, but eventually they do and it seems liek they will stay that way.
The material itself is flimsy for a hard shell case...you can even bend it; and i bet even snap it in half if you bend it far enough.
My old hardshell case for my RAZR is not like this...it is HARD meaning it can barely be bent at all and very durable.
The cutouts are the same as the silicone one except there is an extra hole to the left of the GPS antenna, where there is nothing on my device.
Also the fron panel is left completely open, which I kind of like.

As for now this is the case I will be using, however I hope that in the future someone will make something that is of a better quality material, cut, locks, and overall appearance.

I can see now why these were so cheap...Made in China!!

If anyone wants any more information or pictures, let me know.

My overall recommendation: If you must get a case, get the plastic hardshell one, but don't expect much in terms of quality..but then again it's like 4$ i think so you get what you pay for.

I recieved this one today: http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02372&dept_id=039&cat_id=0851

First time I ordered something other then screenprotectors @ brando workshop (whitch really are the best on the market in my opinion)

I am very pleased.

pro's :

- Fast delivery -> within one week from HONGKONG to Belgium (thats almost as fast as sending a f*cking letter from one Belgium city to another :D)
- Comes in a nice box with Brando logo.
- Brando Quality witch means very good quality! Fine leather, perfect fitting and nice looks. (Brando is for me the proof that China can produce good quality products if they want to)

Contra's :

- Still looking for something bad to say about the case, but can't find anything

Perfect case for me!

pdair leather pouch case.

I have been using this case for approximately 2 weeks now. Its perfect, snug fit and very well made leather.

The stitching is well done as well and looks pretty good as well.

http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000220&products_id=7216

One thing to watch out for, if you receive text message or phone calls and dont take the phone out of the case, the device will stay "on". When the phone receives a call, text message or reminder, the phone wakes up. The fit is so snug, there is enough pressure on the screen to keep the phone "running and on". If you dont take the phone out to acknowledge, the battery will die if you leave the phone in this state over night. So if you are in the habit of leaving your phone in the pouch when you get home from work, take it out. It happened to me :)

I took turcomora's advice and bought a 'nutshell' case. Excellent quality and the TC slides in and out easily, but only when you want it to. I needed a case that fits on my hip but allows the TC to come out for calls and to fit in to the Brodit holder in my car. Nutshell does the job fine - well recommended.
