yes it can send and recieve, I'm using RW6818 with a Nokia phone. Pretty sure no network wizard found, even on /windows. Could you include SRS Wow?

Also Recorder is acting up, its like refreshing every .5 secs doesnt allow you to play a recorded message.
Also null Icons in file explorer is refreshing every .5 secs or so.

Trying out Beta2 is this still WM6 or already 6.1?

- Have you see "about" on setting ? It's WM 6.1.

You can use HexEditor cut 12 bytes header from diskimage_Ver.nb0 then renamed to diskimg.nb0.

After more testing I have found:

Bluetooth Handsfree (headset) mode works OK in phone calls but Wireless Stereo (A2DP) has no sound at all.

In ActiveSync Options I cannot enable Notes synchronization, the tick box is not there. (I have Exchange sync for Contact, Appts, Tasks and Emails. Local sync for Favourites and Files)

I have performed a hard reset but no joy.

Everything else seems OK including Camera flash and these things were working previously on 1.05 rom.

Hi Guys.

I've got one of the older versions of this firmware installed (I think 1.04) and it's running the HTC Home plugin, which I love.

However, I wanted to upgrade it, since it has the 'switch to vibrate' bug, and I can't, since it's not in the 'remove programs' menu and when I try and install the new version, the old one disapeers but the new one doesn't reappear in it's place...

So, my question is, how do I remove the HTC Home plugin from this firmware so that I can install a new one instead? (I'd prefer not to have to reflash, since I only recently got it working the way i like it!)

I got a 1G card and copy the Chinese WM6.1 rom into it. After flowed the first floor's steps, The screen change to black and told me will be reset itself.

now I use the WM6.1. the contact list and the camera are have some problem. anyway I know how to flash with MiniSD card.

Havent tried GMAIL yet, will try later and edit this post.

IR: changed the dlls and exe in /windows directory and still nothing will do registry changes later and post the results. To those who confirm that the IR is working, please check your rom version if its actually 6.1 in the Setting/about.

Camera: by default its working on my phone without any fix

Note: before you upgrade via PC, delete all files from c:\windows\temp, like with my mistake, i unzipped the ruu, then flashed my phone, which in turn just took the old rom in c:\windows\temp instead of the new one.

Ok,there is a problem with this rom 2.01a beta.IR confirmed not working.
u cant downgrade to wm5 using the patch on 1st page, error message "image file corrupted"

so after flash this rom,u cannot flash other rw68x8 rom except nhocbanme's rom...

also the downgrade link for the patch using pc is dead.

Confirmed that wmplayer only plays a portion of the song, i thought it was in intro mode, where it plays 20secs before going to the next song.

your MiniSD is not compatible. Pls change other brand, I have this problem initially but after I changed to ScanDisk 2GB I manage to install the new O/S.

IR: I've noticed that the IR is not totally disabled, when I do OBEX transfers, it does detect that there is an IR device nearby, but does not acknowledge or recognize it. To test, transfer any file using IR, it should show, looking for device near by (DONT point it to any IR device) next try transferring a file again, this time point it to the IR device, it should now prompt you IR Device press a key to transfer.

Im not sure if this is default, or it might be due to the tweakings im doing, but im pretty sure i remember seeing that scenario when i first updated to 6.1.

First method via minisd, after 15-20 min. (till 1 Hour), its sticks in to the Bootloader screen (from ver. 1.05b) or from (ver. 1.04) black screen hard reset (wait 1 Hour) nothing, than I reset device I see HP screen v. 1.12..., nothing.
Second method, with patched hpruu, wrong device, and from bootloader mode, error 402 communicating with device...
I downgraded successfully the first time from ver. 1.05, and now I have no luck, I thought that it will be successfully downgrading, if I’m not happy with any version.

Yup, nhocbanme is actually doing you a great favor, without him your IPAQ won't even be running WM6 at all.. you should thank him instead of yelling at him, you need to remember, he is not doing it for profit, he is doing it out of his own free time and doesn't got paid, like those programers at HP. yet those that got paid aren't doing anything..

If you're not happy with the rom don't touch it. it is still in batta stage, and it is a home cooked ROM. Stick with HP's ROM, if you don't like to be bothered by the problems, no one is forcing you to upgrade...

back to topic.

I noticed that WM5 storage works well now even with pocket plus running, it's a plus...

tried with several devices now, and still can't get IR working.

Nothing wrong with threaded SMS, but as a personal preference i kinda don't like it, there's a registry hack that kan turn it of, but we won't get notifications if there's a new message. the other thin is in threaded mode i can't figure out how to save message to a personal folder. i'm tweaking the registry to find out how to do this, but if anyone figure out how to turn threaded message and get it to work properly, please do share....

Really a great job nhocbanme!! I've enjoyed this a lot, but I have two insurmountable problems. First one it's that bluetooth audio gateway doen't works, so I can't use Blue & Me freehands device of my car.
The second problem it's a bit stupid, but for me it's a great problem: the alarms doesn't sounds!!! Today I've been late at work for this :(

Really a pity, but I'm trying to go back.

first of all i managed to downgrade my personal msgr from bl1.0.5 to pbl1.0.1 but now its not anymore personal its multimedia msgr...

tomorrow ill try to upgrade to wm6 on xp at my work, cause here at home i have vista installed and nothing is working...

I want flash this WM6.1 beta2 version, but when i run boot loader (1.0.5) nothing happens.

This is my history:

I've flashed:

In this days i've tried several times to flash WM6.1 and 1.04b/1.05b etc. but nothing happens.
PDA restart to previous ROM like soft reset. :mad:
I've tried also to hard reset first.

To downgrade boot loader only way it's via PC?
...Or can i replace resettobootloader.exe in PDA WINDOWS?


Ok, now i've decided to flash WM6.1 via PC, but at STAGE 4 the update program stops on 0%! :mad:

I've waited for 1h, then i've unplugged USB cable.

On PDA, bootloader it's changed to 1.01, but the display flashes and all actions (soft reset, remove battery...) they bring back to boot loader.

Then i've decided to downgrade WM5 via PC.
Fortunately all OK! I've used simply ROM downloaded to HP site (without patch)


I've tried to re-flash old ROM version (1.04b/1.05b/pda-hack/wm6.1) via miniSD, but still nothing happens.

Now i've fear to retry WM6.1 via PC... :(

Tak s timhle jsem se nesetkal, nekolikrat do tydne preinstaluji ruzne druhy ROM, ale kdyz dam vzdy na zpet puvodni HP WM5 tak je vse v poradku a romka vypisuje to co ma...., a co vypisujou tyhle jejich upraveny romky tak na tom zas tak nezalezi....hlavne ze tam vsade nacpou sve jmena a pritom nejde pulka veci, tak pod to bych se nepodepsal.. kdyz uz neco delam tak az do konce a poradne a nelezu ven s polotovarem...a stim musi kazdy pocitat, ze ten soft neni primo psanej na tyhle masinky....

Edit: doesn't work if you have too many Today items active (I have HTC Home , TodayPanel, WirelessManager, and Skype). Something about excess resource usage.
Failed to uninstall so had to delete registry key and files manually to get rid of it.

hi the most stable is 1.0.5b for rw6815 but you need to delete of some utility
specially htc today use at least 3 mb of ram the camera shot at 2 megapixel in 1 seconds

You can't flash via PC with BL 1.0.5
use the MiniSD instead

I've finally decided to put WM6 on my ipaq rw6828 (BL 1.0.1), but am having a problem installing it. And I was wondering:

1) Does the device have to be in BL mode before running the RUU?

2) Could anybody post the CRC for the "Ver2.01a_beta2.exe" file so that I can see if file corruption is the problem?

EDIT: Nevermind, turns out that, yes, the device has to be in bootloader mode in order for the RUU to detect it. Perhaps this should be added to the first post? WM6.1 is working great so far. I'll be sure to post any bugs if they occur.

The question is: how to increase storage card performance ?

From wm5 to wm6, the data access is very slow (tomtom 6.03).

Someone have fix it ?

My SD card is a 133x, with wm5 the data access / transfer is very fast, in wm6 is really slow ! I use FAT16 format (size is 1GB).

Any ideas ?

I must be an idiot, but I can't go backwards. All I obtain it's a hardreset losing all the info, but in the same WM 6. Can anybody help me please? I've tried all the methods explained and I get nothing.

If I can't go backwards, maybe going ahead I will have better results. In the first page it talks about 2.02 version but...where to download it? I see no link..

First you must have HP bootloader file (Eboot.nb0) 1.01 or 1.05 are OK.
- Use DRUU to restore Bootloader : replace ATOM bootloader file with HP bootloader file
- Use miniSD to restore Bootloader : copy Eboot.nb0 to miniSD card, go to bootloader ... wait 1' it will auto hard reset.
After flash successfull remmember remove Eboot.nb0 from miniSD.
- Reflashing Bootloader using JTAG. (Use only when can't use two above menthods)

The only problem is with the sound, the problem is i have to go to settings --> System --> iPaQ Audio. & just increase or just touch the slider of the Bass Boost a lil' bit to get loud sound [mp3 or any file should be playing in the background] So if i either change the track, pause & resume or even forward/rewind the track the sound goes normal 7 i have to again go to the same thing again & again.

I have used different audio players but still no use. The same problem applies to all Audio Video Games etc.... sound output.

Does anyone knows any registry entry that i can change or any other kind of help is appreciated.......................

the new 2.01b rom for the 6815 can resolve these problems:

a) Volume is too low, have a way to increase it ?

b) The free-ram in about/system are fixed (in the 1.05b rom are 49.92) ?

c) The HTC Home plugin in today and the phone skin are present ?

d) The SD CARD access are fixed (in the 1.05b rom is slow) ?

Camera is working fine, able to connect active sync but not able to sync my exchange, calendar and contacts. Error code is 80004005. any work around?

So i installed the [sp34053.exe - HP iPAQ rw6828 1.00.03] and the audio was back to normal without the bug. That means even HP has this bug in there latest firmware.

@nhocbanme So i would like to that can u copy the needed dll & other files form the 1.00.03 firmware and use it with your WM6 release.

D. The software Will show u info like what versions of Bootloader, Lan firmware etc.... its installing, Click Next wait for 10-15 minutes and u are back on WM5............

When I try to flash with both "-" keys and reset, rw6815 only showing HP logo and version of bootloader.

i also experienced this hang-up issue, but what i did was i tried to flash it into another rom (1.05b) and after successfully flashing it then i tried again flash my rw6818 to 2.01a beta 3 and it was success...

It doesn't connecting.
Then I've put your WM6 ROM on miniSD card with hope it will fix the problem, but there come another failure. It doesn't upgrading the ROM.
Now my BL is 1.00.01
and my ROM is 1.00.03

Trying to update to 2.01b via PC, step by step:
1. Connect my 6815 to PC via usb cable.
2. Run RUU utility and choose OS only, click next
3. Screen comes up that says ready to upgrade - and when I click next, i get a Connection Error message, hear a device unplug sound and Activesync window pops up.

Anyone come across this before? I have BL 1.00.05, is it because of that? Is there no way to update to WM6 without downgrading to BL 1.00.01? There has to be a way! Not MiniSD way, but through PC.

Guys I installed 1.0.5 on my 6815, but I was wondering if 2.0.1b is way better.
Reading here and there I understood it has some problems with activesync and the camera app.
Now, I don't care about the camera, but I do care about Active Sync: do you know if it is only AS which has problem or the new Vista Mobile Device Manager has too?

Hello nhocbanme, I'm using beta 3 and this is fast, I mean fast. I don't know if everyone have noticed this but this is the fastes I've seen my iPaq working, nice job!

So far the only "bugs" I've found are of course, error in active sync and also interruption when calling when I turn on WOW HD, sometimes you stop hearing the other person...

Besides that it's a great rom, thank you!

I have few official versions of WM5 from HP & to my surprise when i installed the latest version [sp34074.exe - HP iPAQ rw6828 1.01.03] that HP has to offer for my HP RW6828, i faced the same audio problem with the official version too :mad:
So i installed the [sp34053.exe - HP iPAQ rw6828 1.00.03] and the audio was back to normal without the bug. That means even HP has this bug in there latest firmware.

@nhocbanme So i would like to that can u copy the needed dll & other files form the 1.00.03 firmware and use it with your WM6 release.

Yes v1.01.03 has the iPaq Audio bug, which HP never bothered to fix.

i'm wondering if does the activesync problem have anything to do about this version not including a "USB Serial" mode as a connection type. I mean there is no Mode Switch option included in "Settings" menu.

And when i try to switch the mode using another exe file (given at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=268982 ) i suppose it doesn't work.

So I don't know what the problem is. But even in an older release of pdahack, i couldn't connect the device. but i could sync everything via bluetooth.

I couldn't check it with windows vista. so i'd be glad if anyone gave any info about that.

note: i installed vista to try wmdc and found out that, it's not working there either.

You need to check at C:\windows\temp erase all files from there, then do the PC update Beta 3 or Beta 1 should have the 6.1 updates.

Delete all previous activesync mobile device syncs, then create a new sync.

Havent tried Contacts sync since im using a pc without Outlook.

Everything else is working as it should :D

now the problem was it always failed to detect in normal mode (active sync are connected).
and its detected when i upgrade through the bootloader mode but it always failed after "upgrade from version .... to version .."

are it means it need to be downgraded to bl 1.0.1 ??

I read about rw6815 @ 520 MHZ is this needed to run WM6.1 or is the normal speed ok? Is this a hardware mod or a Software Trick to get the CPU Speed to 520MHZ.
A link or a tutorial to overclock the 6815 would be nice.

I know your doing this, but just in case:

1. delete c:\windows\temp all files
2. on your device press Reset+left and right Softkeys to enter bootloader (boot loader should be 1.01)
3. run the downloaded update utility directly (no unpacking) and select "OS Only" by highlighting it and pressing right key then press next.
4. it should detect that your device model or version as "0"
5. finish update and remove battery for about 15secs
6. restart device.

If all else fails, go back to WM5 official rom, and start flashing 6.1 from there.

Ver2.01 still has BT issues, slow BT Streaming is fixed by adjusting bitpool to 128, but BT Stereo headset is not working for both Jabra Stereo and HP Stereo. Jabra Headset is working without problem though.

few days ago, i've instaled pocket hack master few days ago, and found out, that in 1.05b WM6 rom is built in auto-scaling feature that overclocks device form 104-520mhz... so if you use device, you use 520mhz frequention, but in standby mode it is only 104mhz...

however, i think it is too sensitive, so the most of the time you are on 520mhz freq.

I have tried v2.1b on my Rw6815. (flashed via sd) Had the same problems with all :)
Non availability of working with activesync (so it is unavailable to install programs via exe files) also copying files from computer is unavailable.
But for me the biggest problem was unavailability of using modem link. It is unavailable to use the modem drivers of HP. Maybe i should allow XP search for the drivers from net.
Meanwhile i had a problem while cancelling my call when other side did not reply. My Ipaq refused cancelling the call :D

Ver 2.1b was a good ROM but to be honest it was not convenient for me.
I guess i will face the same problems with ver1.5. Regretfully i have to turn back to WM5 :(
