P/S : If flash not successful, you can go again to bootloader :

I have putted all the files into C/Windows/Temp on my PC.After that I started the RUU.I choose OS only and after that there is a message: CreateFile fail!

Don't unplug or disconnect your device during flash until it's finish.
Remember choose "OS Only"
Please connect your device to PC and reflash it.

There is another problem.When my pocket goes in Boatloader mode it shows BL 1.0.5 and my Windows Mobile Device Center alarm that my pocket is disconnected.After that RUU shows a message that it can`t find the pocket and the installation stop!

If your Bootloader is 1.0.5 please downgrade to 1.0.1 then using DRUU again.

First you must extract sp34053.exe to any folder

i prefer ur 1.2 ROM
although there are some bugs in 1.2
but i wish that u would continue improvement on 1.2
because most people prefer a clean ROM
and i think it's better to have clean ROM so each people can install application according to their needs

Same here 1.3 ROM kept hanging on my pda. After a hard reset, the touch screen is not responding to the stylus therefore looked like hang to me. however pressing the soft button do respond to the menu. Btw you can disable the startup sound cos its taking long time to load after the sound is initiated.

I use 6828 also but may be because of Vista?? cos, I try your rom 1 st. version, it faceed problem but when I change to XP computer, it's success.

I think must be have two version : one for 68X8 and one for 6815

you just have to downgrade your bootloader, u could downgrade it using Old original ROM from HP website

the entire process to flash to WM6 or back to WM5 must be done from bootloader mode...

I think that flashing using memory card is not so risky!I`ve flashed my HP 6815 more than 10 times usihg 256MB memory card.The good news is that there is a way to go in Bootloader mode every time.That means that we can`t kill the pocket.The way to go in Bootloader mode after install crash or something else is:

removing battery pack for a few minutes.After that we must press the both '_' keys and put the battery pack (don`t unpress the keys) and wait.After few minutes you will see the HP logo.

Yes, I also agree that we can save it back if we study the old post. It provide the way to fix. Yesterday night, I Flashed rom via MiniSD and make my device like brick after read some topic and follow our friends instruction. I got it back.

All current WM6 ROM for 6815 must install patch (The patch I post in the first page). Try skip SdkCerts.cab and install only camera patch...

What do you mean you have no USB connection, you don't have the cable or what ? flash via mini sd 1gb works fine for me, since you see nothing on the lcd when flashing via minisd you have to be patient, 15" to 20" or so

I have been a 6828 user for more than a year, and am really happy that I stumbled across XDA Developers' website knowing enthusiasts are making new ROM for the 6828 which was abandoned by HP.

I couldn't help but immediately signed up to the forum and queue inline waiting for the newly cooked ROMs!

Understandably, the ROMs are join effort with many other Gurus here, kudos to them all!!

However, there is a reason why I posted here instead of other threads, I really like the way the DRUU is packed with the ROM, so making the update as easy as double clicking on the .exe updater. It takes away the worries from people like myself who don't know much computer at all.

I have a wish to make here, and hoping that you would consider doing one, that is:

(1) to create a clean WM6 ROM without any 3rd party softwares (softwares that can be installed after ROM update) bundled into the ROM updater. So just clean WM6 ROM with all the hardware supports.

(2) replace the O2 bootscreen with HP one, so the brand looks consistent throughout the phone.

(3) and finally, make this update a double click experience without having to worry about deleting Eboot etc etc.

I thought if applications are included in the ROM, they take up memory space? and they will keep coming back for every hard-reset? Correct me if I'm wrong. Also some included applications if I remember correctly are having conflict with one of my daily used program.

If all of these 3rd party apps can be installed post ROM flashing, may be should leave them with just a pure, solid WM6 with all hardware supports, because we know that all 3rd party apps are constantly being upgraded by it's developer, but WM6 isn't, so by separating the OS and 3rd party apps, this way will save the ROM creator from constantly rebuilding ROM just because a new version of HTC apps is out... just my 2 cents.

I absolutely appreciate every single effort that ROM creator has made, like I said, it's only my wish, just hoping that it would be considered.

Oh? Sorry I have yet to find the time to do any flashing yet, so I didn't know HP screen is already there... and of course it's absolute fine with the credit. The reason I haven't don't any flashing simply because I must use it everyday for work, and I need more than a day to get it back to where it is now, and I'm not that computer savvy, so I need to observe the forum a bit longer until every aspect has been perfected.

Just some questions... any known issues with current 1.04 version?

When soft reset my 6828, it displayed 1.01.03WWE and 1.00.05BL, is this the latest WM5 ROM from HP? and is it safe to upgrade to nhocbanme's 1.04 from this?

You can use the original ROM from HP site and patch language & model to downgrade back to original HP ROM.

I just tried the new version (1.4b) that you have just published, but the camera still does not work good....but a least this time it does not freeze the PPC. By pressing the camera button the screen get black with the resolution number on the right corner, to close it you need to press the close phone button. I hope that little by little your genius head can resolve the problem.

and it's a lot stable that 1.2 or 1.3
i'm really impressed...

- ROM 1.4, i like the HP bootlogo, maybe u should put the ROM version like this "nhocbanme v1.4", but the windows live messenger cant connect. i dont know if anyone is having this problem

SECOND i think the problem is to have apps like htc photo editor and htc photo album, because in wm5 original rom we don´t have those and perhaps it´s freezing because of thoses:confused:
try to remove those and the fm radio, because 6815 has no radio, and i´ll test it for you.
regarding to that problem wuth autoconfig, i found this app WIZARD SETUP, that is in ver 1.03, i´ve install it and now is ok, without it i couldn´t send mms and sms neither use gprs connection:D

if possible remove those apps and i´ll feedback to you.

Hey, Ive been trying to flash my Ipaq RW6815 all day, and failed.

First off, i tried to flash it from my vista pc, which didnt work(RUU didnt work that well). Then i tried to put the miniSD image on my memory card, pressing the softkeys and using the stylus to reset my phone, it does go into the bootloader, but after a minute or two, it reboots into wm5. The HP screen says 1.00.05 BL, im pressuming i have the 1.0 bootloader.

Any help is more than welcome!

Also anyone who flashed with the new ROM may be can share with the rest of us as in what they think about the new ROM, like bug issues etc, post #129 make a good example of this.

I have flashed with HP's official RUU before but this one looks like O2's.

I'm mad at myself because I'm not that bad with comps and flashing and all and this is not the first time I'm experimenting on my phones; but here I can't do squat... :(

i´ve a 6815 and already flassh it with those 3 ver of NHOCBANME:D
i use a miniSD card of 1Gb, put diskimage in root of memory card and press softkeys plus reset stylus, after 15´- 20´, voilá.
my bl ver is 1.00.05.

with ver 1.03 e ver 1.04a the camera doesn´t work this versions for 68x8, with ver 1.04b the camera doesn´t work, freezes the ppc, but the rest works smoothly.

SECOND i think the problem is to have apps like htc photo editor and htc photo album, because in wm5 original rom we don´t have those and perhaps it´s freezing because of thoses
try to remove those and the fm radio, because 6815 has no radio, and i´ll test it for you.
regarding to that problem wuth autoconfig, i found this app WIZARD SETUP, that is in ver 1.03, i´ve install it and now is ok, without it i couldn´t send mms and sms neither use gprs connection

Pellumb's instructions help somehow but I still get stuck. When I try to flash in bootloader mode I get a Connection Error message. When I try to downgrade my bl from 1.0.5 to 1.0.1 using the patched hpRUU, I get a message 102: Image file corrupted.

Tried all the methods but it's the only place where I get stuck. Any help please?

After the upgrade to wm6, camera did not work at all and ppc freezes when opening camera aplication. I also tried the patch posted in this tread and did not make any difference.

Note that boot loader downgrade and wm6 update has to be done through PC using windows XP OS as a lot of people using different mobiles encountered problems using vista OS or using mini SD. If u try updating though SD I suggest you use a small capacity and a good quality mini SD.

to Phat7! Please read the thread carefully on how to downgrade the boot loader (instructions posted earlier), if not helpful to you, download sp34053.exe and run it to downgrade your boot loader. This should work fine, if not, try the way they posted earlier on the first pages of the thread.

if you are using windows xp, while downgrading your ppc u will loose your connection with active synchronizer and at that state your pc will recognize a new device that's your phone and will install it, that will be your new programing connection. If XP does not do it automatically then you have to do it manually. Meaning either check to install your unknown hardware or add new hardware. I hope this solves your problem.

Nothing like that happens here. When I try to flash with nhocbanme's ROMs I get Connection Error. I'm guessing this is due to my BL being 1.0.5. When I run the hpRUU to downgrade, it says 102: Image file corrupted. That's it...

You need to reset your PPC if you did not so far.

Then download the ROM software ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34053.exe and run it. Do not try any patch and let me know if it worked.

Appreciate your advice man, but that's kinda risky. I mean if I hard reset and still do not manage to update to WM6, that means I lose all my data. It also sounds kinda strange to me because noone else has mentioned the need to hard reset for updating.

I will save hard-resetting as a last resort anyway :) Let's hope others will be able to suggest something else. Thanks for your help though! :)

See, that's going to happen any way if you succeed to update your PPC,
I suggest you get a backup soft and back up your data and then give it a try.

-Extract the ROM to : C:\Windows\Temp
Which ROM is it talking about? 1.04b extracts to C:\Windows\Temp. What else is there to extract?

Hi all 68xx users here,

I've had the rom for the past 3 days and am happily reporting that there's no major failure with wm6 (for my device, anyway). Camera doesn't flick, I couldn't find auto configuration but in the end I got my MMS & GPRS setting from my telco via online.

Just 1 thing, it can't seems to run Pocket Hack Master and overclock it. Will try XCPUScalar and let u guys know. Charged my battery yesterday morning, use it and it seems no battery drain issue. I loved this thread because I managed to "rescue" my own phone that I thought was bricked and deemed useless.

Hard reset didn't help :( I keep getting the Connection Error with nhocbanme's ROM, and with HP's downgrade ROM I keep getting 102: Image file corrupted error.

Don't be jealous. I flashed my phone about 20 times at 1st, using many different roms, and on the 21st time, it works!

If u decide to go with it, there;s always some kind of "risk" but once u can see the end result, its all worth it.

Just like me, now I have a new engine in a not so new phone body. Which saves me a lot of $$$$!

Did u try SD flash? I'm using 1GB SD Kingston and had no problem with it.

Just make sure u press both the "-" button just below the LCD screen and press reset.

I'm using bootloader 1.0.5. No sweat after that.......

I guess I'm 1 of the lucky ones that manage to flash my phone, bricked, rescued and re-flashed it again and again.

D trick to rescue your phone to go into bootloader mode (Pg 1) really works!

You should really try a different SD card, my 6815 woudnt flash either, took the SD from my htc touch, it flashed it right away! (first used kingston microSD, the htc had sandisk)

So far this is the only pda-hack's EXEC ROM that works for my rw6828 without any major bugs.

- Camera screen does not flicker.
- No screen flicker even taken battery in and out.
- One thing good is no more Screen of Death issue for me on this rom. ( Use core 1948 + device depended components from HP iPAQ rw6815 1.12.00 WWE ROM helped on this issue ? )
- Running @ default 520Mhz with no battery drain issue after install O2_powermangement.cab.
- A2DP not tested yet since I do not have A2DP headsets.
- Sim contact on contacts become "unnamed"

I do not know my device is running on exec's hardware or normal atom's hardware. I've tried so many WM6 roms for atom but none of them solved the SOD issue on my rw6828. Perhaps nhocbanme can try using device depended components from ipaq on your rom ?

My machine is 6815. The current OS is Chinese WM5. But the machine's language is SPA. I use PC to flash it the HP upgrade software will reject it. I use miniSD card to flash with the rom you posted on the 1st floor, after start the engineer mode the machine will reset but not upgrade to the new version.
Now I have some questions:
1/ Do u know how to change the OS's language or skip the language check?
2/ Is it necessary to downgrade the BL to 1.0.1 if I want to use miniSD card flash?

it works perfect on my rw6815, the camera, wireless manager, everything:D
just install the cabs in cabs folder ( i only installed camera patch, sdkerts, o2 power managemente cab and 68xx emul cab) works smoothlly.

About a problem of IE, you can change to 8MB pagepool or more so that it'll faster.
Because my rom have 6MB pagepool may be it's slow...

it works perfect on my rw6815, the camera, wireless manager, everything:D
just install the cabs in cabs folder ( i only installed camera patch, sdkerts, o2 power managemente cab and 68xx emul cab) works smoothlly.

i flashed with the rom provided here http://pda-hack.net/forum/index.php?...&mode=threaded, them installed sdkcerts first, second the camera patch and in last the 68xx emul.
everything works fine for 4 days now:D

ATTENTION! For best results recommended to use 128 Mb - 1 Gb miniSD cards by Transcend, Kingmax, Kingston 512 Mb and smaller
diskimg.rar (41 Mb, 01/05/2008) - main OS, decompress this archive in SD Card root directory
Cabs.rar (843 Kb) - default packages, installing automatic after flashing. Put needing packages into '\Cabs' directory on SD Card
pda-hack.net_rw68xx_ExtROM_emul.cab (3,97 Mb) - some applications needs ExtROM, this package can emulate it. Install after flash or put it into '\Cabs' directory before flashing for autoinstall
SdkCerts.cab (4,59 Kb) - certificates for patches
pda-hack.net_hp_rw6815_camera_patch_wwe.rar (594 Kb, english interface) - patch for camera (start old HP application), install AFTER certificates
To flash press & hold soft-keys, then push reset, after HP logo is appear, release soft-keys and don't touch anything. After flashing device automatic reboot in hard reset.

in the end i´ll have 2 camera apps, one camera and old hpcamera, in my case only one works, the camera app.

in my case i put NHOCBANME 1.04b rom in root of miniSD card first and them inserted card in ppc and puish it ~untill it went to bl mode.

I just flash new rom to my rw6828 it very fast but I have a little problem I canot
change keyboard layout to Thai key board. I try to install Resco Keyboard and Thai Wince Keyboard. When I select another Keyboard to type message notthing happen. How can I fix this problem and finally Thank you for your new version of rom .

I Have a rw6828 and have used the sd card method with v1.05 but i think my card is not supported. so i went for the PC method, but its more than 30 mins and the screen is stuck with this message.

I finally managed to install WM6 on my HP ipaq rw6828. But it wasnt easy, it took me 1 full day to get it installed. Just to help other people who are installing this, here is my experience -

What all I did and how I finally got there -
1.
Tried to install it via PC. I already had a higher version of the Bootloader installed. Best way is to install it via 1GB mini SD card.

2.
After reading other posts I managed to downgrade the bootloader to version 1.0.1 (not sure of the version number...but its the version you get after installing the HP SP34074).

3.
Once I managed to downgrade. I got into the Bootloader mode on my device( its pretty simple to get into BL mode, make sure you ask someone to help you with it, its easier with two people, to get into Bootloader mode - a)press the two "-" buttons on the phone together. b)While the two "-" are pressed have a second person remove the battery. c) Wait for a few seconds and ask the person to insert the battery back. d)Once the battery is in place ask the second person to use the stylus and push into the soft reset hole (its hole on the left of the USB connecter on the phone). e) Wait for a few seconds and then phone should go into the BL mode. f) release the two "-" buttons after it enters the BL mode. Sometimes for me it entered the BL mode after I released the "-" buttons also. But dont release the "-" buttons till you have pressed into the hole with the stylus.

4.
With my phone now in the BL mode and showing the older version 1.0.1 (not sure but it should not be 1.0.5) I clicked the Device Software Update Utility.exe. I got the screen where you get a combo/dropdown with "ALL" pre-selected. The install step clearly says choose "OS" only and not "ALL". But I made a mistake here, for some reason using the mouse I didnt see any other option in the dropdown accept for "ALL". so I selected ALL and did a next. The setup kicked in and I got different screens showing status of install. But on the final screen it got stuck at 6% and stayed like that for well over 6 hours...I didnt touch the install as the instruction clearly say not to disconnect or stop the exe. But after 6 hours I realized that something is wrong and i killed the Device Software Update Utility.exe file.

5.
I did a soft reset on the phone and to my surprise after a while it loaded WM6....but that was it. As the install failed in between. The WM6 on the phone was totally screwed up...nothing worked properly. I coudnt even get ActiveSync to recogonise my device or connect to it.

6.
I tried the whole sequence mentioned in step 4 again. But no luck. Now Device Software Update Utility.exe would error out. I assume it could be because of the BL version 1.0.5. So I thought let me downgrade and install the older BL version....but with no active sync i coudnt even downgrade the device.

7.
Then i read somewhere SD card boot method to copy the EBOOT0908_MNT_1.00.05.nbf from the SP34074 and rename to eboot.nbo. This didnt work either, am not sure if I renamed the file correctly to .nbo(Orange) or .nb0(zero). Well I dont know whats correct eboot.nbo or eboot.nb0. But since this step didnt work. I was really upset as I felt I was stuck...then GOD had mercy on me and I did something which simply worked :D...

8.
I took my mini SD card (1GB Kingston, I read somewhere cards more than 1GB are not supported, not sure thou)out connected to my Laptop in the SD card slot with the SD adapter. Did a quickformat to clean it up...if you have data its a good idea to back up the SD card in a seperate folder.

9.
Now I had a clean SD card with no files I downloaded the 1.0.5a (for 68x8) for miniSD. I copied the diskimg.nb0, size : 64,000 KB to the SD card root folder.

10.
Since I was trying the SD card method, I connected the phone to AC power instead of the PC just to make sure I had enough power for install.

11.
I popped the SD card back into the phone. Removed the phone battery. Then entered into the Bootloader mode (refer to step 3 for getting into BL mode). Well nothing seemed to be happening...but I decided to stay on the BL mode .... to my surprise after 10-15 min i got a message asking my reset and goto factory mode. I wasnt sure if it was asking me to do something or was just a message. While I was wondering...the phone restarted automatically and it loaded WM6 ;)..asked me to do the tap thing to configure like the initial factory setup .. after all this I poped my SIM inside. Connected the phone to my PC. Active Sync finally recognized my device :D and synched everthing. Now everything WORKS!!! Though there are some issues like the camera flash doesnt come on.. etc but more or less everything seems to work. I havent tried other applications like email SMS wifi bluetooth etc.. I will post soon my experience weather all main applications work without a glitch...but am so happy my patience paid off..

Thanks to nhocbanme for WM6 version for HP ipqa rw6828, my biggest mistake was not to properly follow steps listed by nhocbanme. For people trying to install WM6 on HP ipaq rw6828....please please use the SD card method...it works and takes less then 30 minutes...you can follow my steps 8,9,10,11 to have a trouble free setup.

No the flash doesnt seem to work. More or less there are bugs here and there, like it hangs when you click on few icons, but it seems work fine for making and getting calls. Like I said it just been few hrs since I installed it. I will post an update on my user experience.

-Extract the ROM to : C:\Windows\Temp
-Connect your device with PC via mini USB port

-Choose "OS only" (This is safe method)
-Wait 15', it will automatic hardreset.

Was trying to flash my rw6828 last night, but as it was too late for me so tried it twice [once with the card method & other with the PC method which i did by following the above steps, which are described in the first post. But both the time it failed the card method didn't work [as i have a 2 gig kingston card which might not be supported for flashing] & neither did the PC method as the screen was stuck with the "Checking the information of your device" :mad: :mad: So after waiting for 30 mins i killed the process and went to bed.

So this morning i started again, this time i formated my SD card and gave it another shot but the PDA reseted after 5 mins [As nhocbanme has mentioned in one of his Post that if the PDA resets within 5-6 mins means your card is not supported]. So the only way i could switch to WM6 was the PC method and i knewed that the steps above had something missing.

The steps mentioned in the first post are right only one thing is missing...

How did i got it :-

1. Download 1.0.5a (for 68x8) Via PC [Software Update Utility is in the package]
2. Extract to C:\Windows\Temp [you can extract anywhere but by default it gets extracted there]
3. Go to bootloader : Press both soft key (two "-" keys) and softreset (stylus), the HP bootloader screen will appear [This is what is missing].
4. Connect your device with PC via mini USB port
5. Run Device Software Update Utility.exe [Wait for 10-20 Mins and the device will hard reset itself, disconnect the PDA]
6. And your done :):)

It took me 12 mins to flash the device, and i'm really happy now thanks to nhocbanme and the XDA-Developers forum as i was stuck with the fu**** WM5 which was too slow.........

And bout the camera flash it works but it will only Power ON when u take a snap which is great battery saver feature. Or u can start the FlashLight application from Start --> Programs --> Tools --> FlashLight and it will be on till u off it...........


Have not yet tested the ROM completely as its been only 15 mins will post here if any bugs found.......

B1 : I based my ROM on ATOM ROM so that It'll similar ATOM but the place of Green & Red Button of HP is diffence from ATOM.
B2 : What software you use to restore PIM data ?
I've use PIM Backup Contact, and nothing happened
