Dear HTC,
I will buy the shift if a full Windows Mobile GSM PHONE AND GPS capabilities are included. Yes, I am shouting PHONE AND GPS.

I was in Taiwan today, I called HTC and they said they have the HTC Shift. I told him I wanted want, but they said they cannot sell it yet. So much for getting me excited during the few seconds

We do know that is does in fact have the Qualcomm MSM7200 correct? If so then unless they altered the chip(unlikely) it has quad band voice capabilities. Just needs to get "unlocked". I'm confident our XDA hackers can figure it out and make the rest of us happy as clams.

I don't really care about voice capabilities. I use my loptop on the road with wirless card all the time, and I have a phone to make a voice call, but if you could open WM to full extend, and make it to access files stored on harddrive and SD card. That would be very helpful. So I wouldn't have to sync my cell (PPC) phone with computer all the time. Otherwise Shift has a nice forms and size, but that's it! At advertised prices it is MORE than just overpriced

I have read on many website that the SHIFT is A REAL PHONE ... but I think that it will be different depending on the country .. I think that France and Belgium could have phone, while Spain , England and USA will have only SMS.
Not sure about it, just trying to put the things together !

I'm a bit confused whether this has a phone or not. In this HTC Shift Review (http://natalie1981.blogspot.com/2008/03/htc-shift-review.html) it says that the phone is not working.

the review is right.. the shift IS NOT A PHONE and there is no voice capabilities right now... you can only send and receive SMS nothing else.
but we think that we will be able to use it as a phone when we will have been able to make cooked roms

Thanks. It would be pretty odd when you're walking and you have a 7 inch phone on your ear. Of course there's always the head phones but I guess HTC is right in taking out the phone function on this one. Then again, there's always skype.

I think that they are totally wrong ... phone is what we all need in a computer .. have you never been listening to music with head phones and then get a call on you mobile phone ?
Sure, the shift is not a MOBILE PHONE... but it could be a computer WITH phone capability ... I will bring the SHIFT in my pocket and I would really love to use it as a phone .. They could have let the choice to the user ... why the user is just a buyer and not a customer ?
