Hi all,
I'm running original WM06 ITA on my x7500 and I'm experiencing this problem:
when I receive a call I can't answer with my BT headset because X7500 BT is turned off even if it was on, so that I have to activate it again. So the problem is that X7500 BT turns off by itself very often in a day. How can I solve this problem? Any fix available?
THX so much!

hi

i have the same problem. this thing happens 2-5 times a day to me. the wicked thing is that somtimes it works perfect 1 or 2 days and when you think no everything is fine 'pop' its there again. fact is that bluetooth simply disappears, the indicator on athena is still blinking blue and the commanager tells bt is on, but my bt-headset (and other devices) signals that the bt connection is gone, also other devices cant find the athena any longer. i have to disable/enable bt in the commanager to get the functionality of bt back. i was thinking about returning the device for repair, but fearing the discussion of not using the original rom (the one with the superugly optical improvements of the provider :) ). and because maby it's a rom problem. my config is:

htc rom 2.21.407.1 (07/18/07) with extrom:2.21.407.101.
3 bt-headsets 1. sony hbh-ds220, 2. moto s705 and moto ht-820. all 3 are working fine with my universal but having these problem with the athena.

yes we are not alone i found serval posts on the net for htc and other brands like these:

http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=27495&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=867111

but no solutions. the only meaningful thing was for wm5, there is a fix of the bluetooth stack by microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B913683&x=13&y=14) but i did not found one for wm6.

Hi guys.

I'm sorry to say that I had, a long while ago, the same problem with my Universal, and after a whole lot of tweaking, tinkering, and kinky massaging, all that was left to do was to have the device replaced. It definitly was a hardware problem, alas... :-(

I've had mine almost 4 months, stock 7501 ROM, and no problem like that ever. I leave BT turned on all the time. Sounds like a hardware problem.

hi all,
yes, until I found the coolest und most functional BT headset, the cheapy prior ones caused same faults, even to the point of a hard reset ... why, well
no help to be found, just the notion of thinking and knowing, that the cheapy hardware out there was casuing it, not the htc.
example, some devices go into a kind of sleep mode and disconnect if not used, then while the htc still thinks its connected, it gets no reply from your other BT device. Take many SW packages or HW devices on your PC even, unplug the network and uŽll see, even they have unforseen problems ...

have fun, try HW makers like HAMA or Samsung, they rarely disappoint.

hi

i dont know if you read the post's above, but if you do you will see that the pda is turning off the bt, so it dont matter if you use one of the 'fantastic products' of hama (yes i also read your other 2 'advertising' posts of your overall 3 for them ;) ). or any cheap crap stuff from sony or motorola like i do.

anyhow to came back to the real problem, i called my provider today and after explaining the problem, they suprise me with a complete hasselfree swap of the device to a new one in the beginning of the next week. when i get the new device i will test it first with the rom that installed, and then switch to the htc rom again to see if the problem returns again, i post the results here.

Yeah, I think they're probably aware there's something wrong with some bluetooth chips, both on the Athena and Universal....

hi,
with wm6,
i have tested a BT 1.1 headset (Conceptronics) and works fine, without problems.
also, i have tested 2 BT 1.2 headsets (LG Style-i and Supertooth Nano). In the 2 cases, i have your related problems.
in my opinion, wm6 has a problem with the headsets that implements the 1.2 protocol.
all the headsets works fine with wm5.

I have same problem with HTC Advantage running WM6 with LG Style-i headset ...

With my LG Style-i it keeps disconecting but with my SE BT headset it works fine (PK 3.0 Dual ROM) so in my case the BT on the phone doesnot turmn itself off, just has problems connecting.
Someone sugested a diff radio ROM might fix it - if so, does anyone know which radio does not implement the 1.2 protocol?
I'm using 1.47.51.00

hi there

i'm using my replacement athena for nearly one week now, and had not a single 'shutdown' of bt, not with the se ds220 nor with the moto 705 headset. i use the official german tmobile wm6 roms and not the htc version i used on the replaced athena. so it is not totaly clear if the change of the device or of the rom is making the difference, all other software packages are installed again. it also seems that the system is more stable overall in my every day usage, but that might be only my personal feeling.

mad

*EDIT* one more thing i noticed now is that when a call came in the sound is now played in the bt headset. before the sound came out of the speakers of the athena, and the bt headset only play its standard ringtone. seems that now everything is the way it should be :).

It seems to be solved with the latest official WM6.1 to tytn II. HTC should definitely release a WM6.1 upgrade to X7500, too.

I am wondering if bluetooth dll-files from the latest WM6.1 is working with the old WM6. Maybe the files could simply be copied to the windows directory. If it fails, it is easy enough to restore the old files or take a hard reset. Has someone here tried something similar like this?

ok so this problem is driving me crazy too now, is the WM 6.1 update out from HTC? if so, is it free? if not, then how do you fix this bluetooth problem? Are you guys just dealing with it?

BigDede
5th June 2008, 10:53 AM
WM6.1 is not yet released by HTC and I'm not sure it will. However you should be able to find a hacked version of the WM6.1 for the Athena somewhere on the forums of the xda-developers. As for my case, I'm just dealing with the problem for now :)

thanks BigDede!

I will check out the forum for the wm6.1 for the athena, it's not going to mess up my pda like a ROM update does right?

Basically it is a Rom update from WM5 or WM6 (depends what you are running today) to WM6.1
You will loose all your installed programs and settings as with a hard reset.
I heard that WM6.1 is more stable and much faster then WM6 but does not brings a lot of new features but will correct some bugs.

You can use Sprite Backup which seems to let you backup your config and file on WM5 or WM6, then restore it even after a ROM upgrade, in this case WM6.1
I've never tried it but that's what they mention on their website, whil SPB backup does a backup/restore on the same ROM only ...

I recommand you do a clean install of everything after a ROM upgrade.
I think its a lot better

hi again

i dont monitor this thread for a while. now after exchangeing the unit (and doing all of that things explained in the posts before)an upgrading to wm6.1, there is only one device left that cause trouble with bluetooth, its my s/// ds-220 headset. all other (moto soundpilot s705, jabra330 and nokia bh-500) doesent give me headaches again. and after the ds-220 dies (in the hot conditions of africa, R.I.P :), i have no problems at all with 'bt is switched off at the device by external units'.

now I've got the same problem, too.
New O2 XDA Diamond an Bluetooth turns off itself every 10-15 Minutes after it is connected to my Saab 9-3 Carphone. When Bluetooth is on but idle, it stays on all time.

Is there any news about a new tweak? JETware didn't help either ...

I experiencing the exact same thing with both a HTC Touch Diamond and a HTC Touch Pro in my SAAB 9-3 2008, with original SAAB Integrated Bluetooth handsfree.
Sometimes the Bluetooth icon on the HTC device diappears, however the switch in Comm Manager stillsays Bluetooth is active... Mos often though, the switch is set to off.
It seems as if the problem lies in the HTC devices, as I can conect to the SAAB Integrated Bluetooth, as soon as I restart bluetooth on the device.

I had the same problem. In my car with "UDP" the connection was lost some day every 10 minutes and the next day only once in four hours.

For other reasons (save battery) if switched from 3G Auto mode to GSM mode a few days ago and from this moment my HTC does not turn off Bluetooth any longer by itself.

Yesterday on a longer trip in my car I turned on 3G Auto mode again and figured out, that if there is a change of the network from 3G to GSM the Bluetooth is turned off.

Perhaps someone can comit this?!

Hey Micke,

Did you ever resolve the issue with your HTC devices and the 2008 Saab 9-3? I only ask, as I have just bought myself a 2008 9-3 (convertible!) and am having the same issue with my HTC Touch HD running windows 6.5, (although I have not yet had the case with the phone saying that bluetooth is still turned on, but not connected with the car - although it is early days, and I have only had the car for a couple of days!).

The other thing I've noted is that the phonebook when downloaded to the car does not contain all of my (800) phonebook entries. I was wondering whether the Jetware Hands-Free Extension solution might help with either / both of these problems? Any thoughts??

Many thanks,

Graham.
