yea i had that installed on my phone before i even posted this thread. I went to weather tab, and chose custom on the dropdown. Clicked Enter New City.

City, State: Marlboro, NJ
Country: US
Zip/Location code: 07746

And clocked save city to custom database. Went to the home screen and Marlboro comes up (at least it appears) on the weather tab but cannot get the temperatures. Whats a location code?

I'm curious as well...

Just flashed Shap's 4.31 rom and entering my city using the Advanced Config app doesn't work. If I select from a city on the list...no problem.

Using HHC 0.8 or 1.0 doesn't work for me either.

I'm in Asheville, NC 28806.

Just build a new city with the location code only and give it your city name!

Location Code Asheville, NC: USNC0022

that doesnt work :/

I thought I pop in too. My weather tab just doesn't seem to work no matter what city I choose, I've just got a big blank space where the weather should be and am going mad trying to find out what to do.

where do you get the location codes from?

michalex

well I answered my own question and found the location code. Still doesnt work though. I did the soft reset, but it still won't find the weather for my city. Any ideas?

Here is how I did it, worked on my first try.

(These instructions are United States specific)

Browse to: http://weather.yahoo.com/
And enter the city name or zip code that you wish to view the weather for.

Note the location code in the URL that you are directed to, for example:
http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USKY0919.html

Install the HTC Home Customizer (http://www.pocketemu.com/download4.html) to your device. It will be found under:

Start\Programs\HTC Home Customizer

Navigate to the "Weather" tab and do this:
change "Database Type:" to "Custom"
click "Enter New City"
enter "City, ST"
enter "US" for the United States
enter "USKY0919" in "Location Code", change this value to match your location
click "Save City to Custom Database"

Reboot

Followed those steps exactly, still get Unable to retrieve data for selected city, Select here to retry. For what it's worth, I tried a major city, like Orlando and got the same results. Is there some setting that I have misconfigured that would prevent this?

....we appreciate your help here but...it's NOT
http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USKY0919.html

rather http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USNY0996.html for your New York, NY location, USKY0919 would be Frankfort,KY....Just so no-one gets cornfuzzled....btw...I tried Yahoo weather with dewitt,ky 40930 and got "USKY0833" and put in the custom DB....nada...

I've got a Cingular 8125 upgraded to TNT.1921 TouchFlo 10MB PAGE POOL just for reference.

Thanks for your help..I'm sure it was just a typo...let's all see if we can get this +)(&)#(&+%#!ing thing working!!!....grin

Did you not understand what I wrote? I wrote this as general instructions for the US, hence the:

"Note the location code in the URL that you are directed to, for example:"

and

"enter "USKY0919" in "Location Code", change this value to match your location"

thanks for that. I ended up installing the 3-tab version of HTC Home and edited the xml weather file to add Rochester and now it works. Although the weather doesnt seem to be very accurate but at least its in the ballpark of my real weather. Thanks again!

To change celsius to F

When you are selecting your city the two soft keys display select and menu. Click menu>weather options>Temperature scale> select fahrenheit.

If you are in the USA, just go get WeatherBug Direct (free today plugin for weatherbug.com) and use your regular ol' zip code. Works great, and much better then the HTC today weather.

P.S. link for CAB download (http://windowsmobile.weatherbug.com/)

In Schap's 2008 Advanced Configuration Tool there is a registry hack to change it also. Just change to your state and city
( US|NAM|"your states initials"|"your city" )and works fine for me that way too. There is also the KaiserHTCHomeDLL.cab patch that works well too. I dont have the links readily available, but got the files here. Hope that may help someone, who knows. Kevin

May be it's good for USA, but for me it does not work this way :-(

1. I go to "http://www.accuweather.com"
2. select International location, put there "Yekaterinburg, RUSSIA"
3. in the URL I've got city-code "ASI|RU|RS075|YEKATERINBURG"
4. write it in a registry (I've tried to write it in file, but I do not understand how to clear "ROM" flag on file), connecting, "attempting to download data..."
5. ... and nothing else :-(
In the same time accuweather show me all I want in the Internet Explorer

any solution ?

I dunno what the hell you guys are doing looking for the loc code from yahoo weather...

Everything I have ever read about this states that if the location you want to use IS in the US and is NOT in the standard list of cities THEN YOU HAVE TO DO THE HTCHOME HACK TO REDIRECT IT TO ANOTHER SERVER, then you can put in whatever location you want in the cities list or with HHC. You get the CORRECT location code from ACCUWEATHER ONLY! look at the examples already posted for more info, the HTCHome.dll hack has already been linked in a previous post as well, that is how you fix this, I have done it probably a dozen times on three different phones and at least 6 different ROMs works every time if you do it right!

I am also sure that there are probably 10 threads about this already that give the correct info... search ppl!
