Dear all, I need to set my outgoing com port to 8 for my GPS receiver to work. I've searched the wiki and was unable to find anything on this topic.

When I try to set sny numbers between 1-8 my Hermes rejects this saying "the com port could not be created....."

I've tried with and without secure connection ticked.
I am using the following ROM TNT.SE "Special Edition" Series (Professional)

Could someone point me inthe rightdirection of how to enable com port 8.

Many thanks

1. Go to Comm manager and turn on Bluetooth
2. Go to Settings Bluetooth
3. Click Add new device (your mobile phone is search for BT GPS device)
4. Click with stylus on GPS BT device then tap to next
5. Enter passcode (default is 0000 four zero), then tap next
6. Enable checkbox on Serial port then Finish
7. Go tu downmenu COM Ports
8. Tap on New Outgoing Port
9. Select your BT GPS device
10. Tap next
11. Select your COM port (Com 8)
12. Disable checkbox Secure Connection
13. Click on Finish

Thats it... My BT GPS antenna work fine with this procedure. And for last finish, setup your GPS software to work with this COM port.

Enjoy...

Many thanks for the replies Filefixer and Lilhit82.

I tried to do as you've said before posting the thread. The problem is that I can't select any com ports between 0 and 8. I can only to set it up on port 9.

I have the same problem although I have in the past been able to set it on com 5 or 6, now it is locked on com port 9, however htat port works fine for me.

just make sure you go to the GPS applet in connections (or wherever your cooker put it) and set the hardware port to 9... DO NOT attempt to set a data port, leave that first page at (none), then set the third page to allow windows to manage your gps.

Then do a soft reset and power cycle your GPS reciever, then you will be able to use apps that call on the gps unit.

Hope that works for you.

BTW perform the procedure filefixer described but use port 9 instead. Do that BEFORE the soft reset and power cycle.
