What does the Radio version of a ROM control? I noticed Dr. Gonzo's ROM has radio version 4.1.13.47_02-98-90, my vox has 4.1.13.37_02.83.90. Does the Radio version control how well the telephone commmuncates with cellular towers?

So after flashing it, do you notice any changes?

Honestly, no I haven't noticed any differences. That is why I didn't want to flash a whole new ROM mjust to get the updated radio, I had a feeling that there would not be any noticeable improvements.

Just to clarify, my rom doesn't update radio version. I prefered leaving this to user choice.
But the screenshot shows another version because I myself decided to update it.
I can't say I've noticed any difference, but maybe it is a thing to try for people having problem with bad signal reception etc...

It also appears that radio versions have an influence on battery consumption : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358933

hi everyone, i'm new in the forum and struggling to understand how to "work" on my new htc vox (but in italy is known as S710).
dr. gonzo, i have a few questions for you.
1: i am a vodafone sim user but on my s710/vox it goes ROAMING ON VODAFONE. i spent long time contacting htc asking for explanations and with vodafon italy too but (obviously!?!) it's no ones problem. i have been surfing looking for the same trouble but it looks like only spanish people has this problem but... no ones has idea about solutions...
it is very frustrating as i am not able to connect to gprs/edge nor send/receive mms.
do you know anything about it??? tks
2: i found vox has been produced in 2 versions
A - gps chipset and software built in
B - gps chipset missing but software available.
now the question is... how can i discover which is my model? and how to enable (in case B) the internal GPS module?
3: i read instructions about installing a new rom (and the guava look really pretty) but... it's still not clear how i should do it... i saw some linux talking in the instructions and i am just at the beginning with linux so i don't feel confident in applying any change from linux...
is there a way to do it through windows xp pro?
thanks for all the answers...

Yes, the ARA ROM is complete, but neither the New Guava nor the ROMs you produce with the kitchen have a new Radio version.
@laura8sp:
1.Try to go to HTC E-Club (http://member.htc.com/member/login.aspx), register if you haven't already. Then search for provider settings, maybe that helps!
2.No Vox has GPS built in, you are talking about Wing demo devices and Wing production devices.
3.Just read the instructions provided in the threads or ask there!
EDIT: I attached the correct file for you!

I'll post a file to just update your radio version in the thread about my rom for those interested.

I'll probably write a Wiki article about flashing in the next couple of days, I'll tell you when I am done!
