snapshots snapshots snapshots:eek:lololo wow. it takes what 30 min. to flash and set up with the apps and settings you need. a hour if you want to go back to whatever you had before.lolo:eek:
Guess I'm fortunate. Flashing takes 10-15 minutes and I have all my cabs on my sd card. Install disable cab delete first, config settings, copy all contacts from sim, and I'm all done in about 20 minutes. I've seen people begging for screens since v2.3 or .4

Alright, I'll stick with the very pretty, highly efficient and extremely useful Touch-It 4.4.
Aw,
What a response....!
For a second there I was actually affended, but why would I get affended if your going to use a differnt rom?
I mean we all know that itje does great work, and you can not go wrong with any of his roms.
I was affended that you were trying to associate my rom with the word pretty.
I'm not a pretty boy and would rather keep the word pretty away from my rom.

ttran,
Can you please check the ringer on the next version? All your other ROM I can use midi file for my ringer but not version 2.5. I am using 2.5 Slim version. It still recognizes mp3 and wav format but not the midi. I store my ringers on the SD card, under My Documents\My Ringtones.
Thanks

Perhaps I'll pull inspiration for my next wall from here:

What's the pagepool amount on this rom? Because my redraw/reorient time is really slow, even on 299mhz. All programs closed, did the hibernate thing ( don't know what this does but people said to do it), and the only other thing I have is the batterystatus battery bar.

Pretty sure it's 6mb. Hibernate will also reset your RAM to near-reset levels. I typically will hit a hibernate after closing just about anything, guess I'm just anal like that.

He's just mad because everyone made him feel stupid with his 10 different requests for screens. Seriously, Ive seen a bunch of stupid posts from that guy, I wish there was an ignore button on here.

Speaking of slow redraw on the HTC home: everytime I slide open the keyboard and then close it back (after waiting for it to redraw, of course) on the home screen, the HTC home plugin doesn't seem to ever resize itself correctly. Don't know if this has been discussed, just something I noticed.
I think I know what the possible problem might be, it seems that my wallpaper has high resolution. Try using one of the included themes and see if this will help reduce the redraw issue.

I'm pretty sure that your not HARD SPL, since you would have had to flash it the following links instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358225
Just follow the instruction for the non HARD SPL from the first page and you should be fine.
Also read ivanmmj post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=358615
Also,
Folks that have not flashed this version yet, please wait until I upload the next release some time today.
Since it will contain more fixes and updates.
Good luck,

I think I know what the possible problem might be, it seems that my wallpaper has high resolution. Try using one of the included themes and see if this will help reduce the redraw issue.
Here, Ive attached some pics showing the problem. Its not linked to the wallpaper, or the theme, its something with HTC Home.
The first picture is after opening the phone and closing it before it has the chance to redraw upon opening.
The second is after opening, waiting for the scrollbar to appear, and then closing. The scrollbar appears for a second, then goes away leaving black space in HTC Home.

Okay,
Let me try another version of the HTC Home and see if this helps resolve this issue before releasing the rom today.
Also,
I wanted to know if every body wanted me to go ahead and replace the home icons with the glass version?

The weather feature of the HTCHome does NOT work with a proxy.

in 2.5 i could play music through bluetooth. now in 2.6 when i hit talk the voice speed dial pops up and then i exit and the music reverts to the phone. i have gone to settings buttons and reassigned button 5 but nothing will play through the bluetooth no matter what i choose.
anyone know how i would get the music to play on my bluetooth again? or maybe how to disable voice speed dial from popping up when button 5 is set to it so the music will play?

Alright,
Lets try the simple stuff first.
Connect your device via activesync.
Once connected go to explorer and browse to the windows directory of your device.
Locate the Long_PTT short cut and copy it to your desktop.
Open up notepad or word and edit this file.
Replace the current content with the following.
49#"\Windows\sddialer.exe" -min
Save the Long_PTT file and copy it back to your device and over write the original.
Softrest your device and let me know if it works now.

But the same thing applies, just change the content of that file and reset.

Try and reset your device.
I tested the rom a lot of times before uploading it.
Possible bad file from the download..
Try softreset first then if needed hard reset.
If all fails redown and reflash.

this was my first rom ever flashed and it went perfectly! i followed the uspl instruction posted by ivanmmj. this is so much better than the original rom and it runs and looks great!
the only problems i have noted so far (and i believe it has been noted earlier) is that when using the battery status menu the "x" button and the task manager icon overlap. no big deal though. also, i am not able to play any video files over the web. this i am concerned about. is there anything i need to change or add to get videos such as youtube to work?
also, i should be getting my bluetooth earpiece sometime this week and i was just wondering if it should work as normal with this rom.
thanks ttran001 for creating a rom that even the novice flasher like me can use!

Thank you,
Folks, please do not download the slimline version any more. I will reup this file once I verify what wrong with it. Possible upload issue with megaupload.

Hi ttran..
I installed the biggy 2.6. Its a fantastic ROM. The problem I found is with the Push Mail. Even if the Push Mail is enabled in the Comm Manager, I have to manually Activesync or manually check for email to download any new email from the exchange server.
Any idea why, do I need to change anything?
Thanks for your effort and I appreciate it.

It's a HTC sprint plugin. Uncheck it in the Today items.

Youtube video streaming
Programs menu locking up

Add-ons/Updates
Radio version: 03.07.90 is included with this release

HTC Large Menu - This seems to be the issue with the programs folder locking up..

Okay,
Please provide the steps you have tried already to help us figure out what is wrong.
The normal way is to enable it via the today menu.
Exit the today menu
Then go back in and change the value or just simply click and hold on the battery icon and wait for the option menu to pop and then change your value.
It will not work rite away after you enable it.

well in 2.5 did you have the voice speed dial included in the rom?
If not do you know how i can remove it? perhaps if i just delete the LONG_Ntt in the windows directory that would disable it?

Okay still using 2.5 Slim Line version. I flashed it to 4mb pagepool. Seems stable even when overclocked to 278.
Ran in some huge problems with Voice speed dial so I went into the registry and deactivated it. (problem is when I listen to streaming radio, it keeps pulling up voice speed dial -- extremely irritating. does it weather I'm streaming in TCPMP, Resco Radio, or Windows media player.)
I also have problem with HTC Home. again I went into registry and deactivated it.
Otherwise this ROM is running extremely well. I still Love It !!!!!!!!

ttran001,
Love the open touch roms! I'm using 2.6 now and will upgrade soon to 2.7. The one thing I liked that some other roms had was the vibrate toggle for the press & hold function of button 5. It looks like you have it assigned to Voice Speed Dial.
I've tried CommButton-Toggle-Vibrate-Fix.CAB and others but they don't seem to override the setting that's cooked in. Can you guide me as to how I can change that to the vibrate toggle? Is it a registry change?
Thanks!

dunno about direct push, but i didn't have any problesm with the opera mini. i think it had trouble connecting the first time, but that's because i think it was installing itself...it worked fine afterwards...and i'm actually considering getting the internet plan, because it's so easy to browse with opera mini (compared to pie).
only quirky thing is that after a hard reset, overclocking with batterystatus seems a little buggy...usually have to play around with it a little...change the clock speed from the today screen drop down options...go into options from the settings->personal->today screen...and then it finally takes. (for some reason, if you just go to the settings->personal->today screen options menu and try to change the clock speed in the omap section, it doesn't take properly). otherwise, i haven't noticed any issues with the basic functions that i use. definitely like the look compared to the 2.5 version...htc home plugin looks good...was good to remove the time in the start bar (by default...i usually turned it off manually anyway...so one less step after a hard reset). :p
the only steps i'll need to take in the future is debating the hardspl option...and updating the radio. :p

dunno about direct push, but i didn't have any problesm with the opera mini. i think it had trouble connecting the first time, but that's because i think it was installing itself...it worked fine afterwards...and i'm actually considering getting the internet plan, because it's so easy to browse with opera mini (compared to pie).
only quirky thing is that after a hard reset, overclocking with batterystatus seems a little buggy...usually have to play around with it a little...change the clock speed from the today screen drop down options...go into options from the settings->personal->today screen...and then it finally takes.
There isnt a debate. HardSPL is awesome and so is the new radio. I highly recommend it.

Hi ttran..
I installed the 2.7 biggy. Here are the issue which I found.
1) Directpush: I have to manually run activesync to get my emails from the exchange server.
2) Opera Mini does not connect to the internet.
I am using proxy. Internet Exp works fine.
Do you have any idea about the above issues.
Thanks again for the great and fast ROM.
Not sure why folks are having issues with opera mini connecting.
The first time you run it, it has to install itself. The best way to do this is to connect it to your desktop via activesync if your having network issues.
Once it completes the install your pretty much set.
As for the directpush mail, I will have to look into this since I don't use it at all.

the only steps i'll need to take in the future is debating the hardspl option...and updating the radio. :p[/QUOTE]
The main reason I added a version with the radio is because some folks complianed that my rom caused them to have bad reception.
Even though I have never included the radio with my roms they still complained about my rom.
This is the kind of stuff that makes me want to stop creating newer versions..
Its more of folks not understanding and blaming stuff that does not make any sense.
If you flash my rom without the radio included then you will still have the same radio version that was originally on your device.
Why upgrade the radio version?
Why not...!
When you get better reception? Thats a no brainer to me..
As for the HARD SPL, I don't see why folks don't just do it.
It's free and works just fine, I've had no issues every since I updated my phone along with the 10+ phones I've done for friends and family members.
People are paying 35+ dollars to have their phones CID unlocked when the HARD SPL does it for free...
Anyways,
To each their own and that's why I included a version without the radio added and will also continue to do so going forward.
Enjoy,

Start thinking about v3.0, which I want to make even better than v2.7.

Ttran - you are one amazing chef!
I flashed 2.7 with new radio and have been testing the apps and haven't had any problems. the speed on my wing has never been better. BTW, Opera Mini works great for me (slow on first install, but great thereafter). All bluetooth functions work as expected, video streaming from youtube great, my personal apps (video commander, sling player) work great too!
Look for my $mall gratitude in your paypal.

Hi ttran..

I forgot to list that as well, yes I will upload a version with NetCF 3.5
I've tested both and really dont see that much of a difference in the speed.
I mainly see the issues that NetCF 3.5 causes since it does not support some of the other apps.

There isnt a debate. HardSPL is awesome and so is the new radio. I highly recommend it.
*sigh*...not trying to debate the hardspl issue. i had one question, i'm just waiting on more feedback before i go for it. it seems a viable option...only had one question that i have yet to receive a confirmation. already private messaged ttran about it...and i'll send you the same inquiry...i've been checking the stickied hardspl thread too...but no one is answering it...or have given any confirmation on a success. (essentially, I'm a chicken, and wait for the success stories of others before i take a chance myself...a bit of a calculated risk)
the radio...would definitely be worth it, if you read through the thread for improvements. some are just of the...if it ain't broken, then don't fix it...lol...(this all comes from past experience with the t-mobiel mda/wizard...from reading all the threads with the whole slew of radio roms that had come out over the past 2 years...some from cingular, some from t-mobile, some from att, some from some carriers in europe...and back then, it caused some minimal problems for some...basic gist...was changes in obtaining a single from going to an area without to an area with...or some issues with data speeds...etc)
but anyway, i'll toss ya' the private message.
rom works well...no complaints...i just look forward to the new roms, because it's just comforting to know that bugs are worked out (even if I never knew they existed). :p

ok...noticed one thing...just a minute ago...while using the phone...probably a quirk on my phone...or i'll have to hunt down the regedit for it (change to "cc" somewhere)...but speaker volume seems to have go down compared to the 2.4 and 2.5 versions. (this is based on flashing the phone last night with the 2.7 biggy w/o radio).
just figured i'd through that out there. :p but it's manually fixable so not as big a deal. :p (i'm too cheap to buy a bluetooth headset for when i'm driving...considering that it seems to be legal to just have the phone on speaker phone...since it's still "hands free driving"...lol)

I still for once just hope to see one that works for the Herald, and not just the Wing - I wouldn't mind waiting for 3.0 if you can have it out as soon as you release the Wing version (or wait with the Wing until you have the Herald version ready)..
I may be a noob and all, but as far as I've understood HardSPL is that it is basically just like flashing to the original rom from HTC in that it's not as easy to brick your phone when doing it as it is with previous roms (I bricked mine once, though I did recover it quite easily, thanks to proper documentation)..
On a slightly related note, since I haven't had a chance to peek at any readme files for installing Herald (nor have I bothered downloading it for the Wing since I don't need it), is there a full guide to doing it included in the file? A readme.txt or similar which describes what to do like there was (or is, I dunno) with Touch-IT? I'm just curious because that'll make it so much easier for me to flash without having to ask stupid questions which I'd rather avoid (myself being a software developer, working on .net c#, I know how annoying people can be)..
Anyway, your stuff looks AMAZING! If I wasn't a poor sod of a student with a complete lack of money, I'd definitely donate - that isn't saying much since I can't show my actual appreciation, but still, it's worth it if I could spare anything - and I might be able to next month, so keep up the good work :)

Once I'm done with trying to fix all bugs with this release and folks are happy.
I will cook a herald version.
As for donations, you are not required to donate to use my rom. It's up to you as the user if you want to or have the funds to do so.
Please do not feel bad if you can not donate, I'm easy like that.
Money is not everything, when users are happy with my roms, that's what makes it all worth it for me.
Hang tight herald users, I promise to have a version for you as soon as I can.

Folks,
The new rom without voice speed dial has been uploaded check the first post or simply download from here.
Open Touch v2.7 Biggy | NetCF 2.0 | Raido version 03.07.90 | No Voice Speed Dial (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E20P0H5V)
Notes:
I went ahead and left the default 5th button mapping to CommManager.
You can always change this to what ever you like.
As for the 5th hold or long press has been set back to standard for voice command, but voice command is not included. I think once you install voice command it should work correctly with the 5th hold button.
Enjoy,

Okay, here goes another question:
Is it still possible to add a string registry value to \HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd with the name Locale and whatever locale you want to use, in case your phone has non-iso-8859-1 characters (eg. mine usually relies on utf-8 or iso-8859-15 which are Danish characters)..

its there go to programs then more at the bottom and it should be 2/3rds of the way down. Its in alphabetical order.

Just checked again -- not there. Slim Line version. You must be looking at the biggy version.

Running first version of 2.7 Biggy. Received SMS notification, but there isn't any text in the header (To, Sent, or Callback) or body. Text also missing in previously received text messages. Ran the network wizard and reset several times. Any ideas?

This is for the Herald only. The MDA is not a Herald. Think of it as trying to put diesel in your gas/petrol car.

First of all I am very happy with the Slimline 2.7 rom on my Herald.
It was quite easy to install, although I did need to flash with the Dutch Vodafone rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343377) first. Anyway, I know you haven't made the rom for the Herald yet, I do have some feedback. Things I don't like:
Name You named it 2.6 on the forum, but the file is called 2.7.
Keys Holding the comm manager button(I think button5) gives a VoiceCmd.exe cannot be opened error.
Keyboard The keyboard mapping issue (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359696)(Fn keys are mapped incorrectlly), but I haven't tried the suggested solution (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360127) yet due to dead links. A related issue: I'm missing a "(" in the virtual keyboard(Symbolpad).
Startmenu A bit overcrowded, I can't think of any good solution though, I was thinking of just throwing out some items or adding more folders.
ProviderSettings I'm still hunting down the T-Mobile settings, so a quick description of where to find those settings would be nice(GPRS, MMS etc.) I don't see them in settings anymore, but they do popup in apps like WMWiFiRouter, so they are hidden (http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/579009962631/m/425009839831) somewhere.
MissingApps I miss GoogleMaps (http://www.google.com/gmm), WM Wifi Router (http://www.jongma.org/WMWifiRouter/), FoxItReader (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/mobile/winmobile.htm) and Fring (http://www.fring.com/download/) which I will happily install.
Games I was hoping "no" games were on the SlimLine version.
Browser Not sure if I want Opera mini. One browser is sufficient.
Although this is a list of bad things I still think this is a great rom

While it is not my ROM, I'll try to answer some of these.
1. The naming says 2.7 on the forum, also.
2. The isn't a comm manager button on the wing. There's a comm manager key on our keyboard. That's why the "comm manager" button on the Herald doesn't work. It was never remapped.
3. The keyboard drive included is the Wing driver, thus the keyboard will be incorrect on all other Herald devices. That "fix" will be your only way around it unless Ttran decides to release a version with a different keyboard driver that works.
4. Startmenu: Dunno
5. Provider settings: Again, this is a Wing ROM. You can run Network Wizard to get rid of a lot of them, but there will be things that he may have missed.
6. Missing apps: As a cook, there is no way to make something that will please EVERYbody. Some people don't want those apps. So, unfortunately, all you can do is install them manually.
7. See point 6.
8. See point 6. Besides, have you tried browsing with OperaMini4? It's 10x better than using pocketIE.

Would like to not only "no" games but no touchflo, no cube.
A Micro-ROM if you will. I have a need for speed. would like to see just how fast you can make the Wing go.
(new radio with 4 mb pagepool)
I appreciate all the hard work ttran001 has done. This Slim Line 2.7 is very nice.

This may be a stupid query, but how do I do this? I look under Settings/Buttons, and there is no option for Brightness at all. Anyone know how to add a lnk to this part of the ROM, perhaps in the Registry?

If you are talking about the quickmenu / startmenu - you can customize it. Look back under startmenu and find QuickMenu, then find Option..., and go to Menu Items. Unselect things you don't want to see. Hope this helps.

I notice when im playing music using WMP,sometimes a screen comes up saying "out of memory, choose an application to terminate", or something to that extent. When I do click an application to terminate, the screen goes blank white, then I must do a hard reboot.
When this error takes place there isn't anything else running in the background, and it usually happens right after I decide to select a new track.

If you want a stripped ROM, completely stripped of everything, then you'll have to either recook one stripped or use my stripped ROM. I have to upload the final that's truly stripped... but I'm working on a new one, too...

Net 3.5 is already in there. The new radio will be in the new version. I only make stripped ROMs and kitchens so as long as you don't ask for one program or another, I'm your man. If you want something with cool and useful features, Ttran or itje are your men.

Sounds really cool. I want to see just how fast my wing can run. Totally Micro/stripped. I prefer to run all my apps from the Storage Card anyway. Seems to keep my Memory really high.

Just to verify, when you use the device for awhile make sure to close out some of the apps by performing the following.
\Start\Close program\close all
and to free up memory use Oxios Hibernate or the one that comes with Quickmenu
And see if this problem still continues.

What is NetCF?
.net compact framework
just like windows xp and vista has just a smaller version. apparently the newer framework is slower but supports less or vice versa.. im pretty sure this has been brought before and i think ttran said that 3.5 was the one he was going to continue to use. i could be wrong though. i just vaguely remember a conversation in past threads about it.
bottom line is that 3.5 is the newest version of the .net compact framework.

See the 4th line on the first topic, it says Slimline 2.6
The comm button on the side is the one I was talking about and it does work if you press it, but if you press and hold it seems to give an error, so the mapping of the shortcut or something must be wrong.
I understand that the keyboard will not work and why not, but I only found dead links for the Hearld, so I haven't been able to "fix" this yet.

i don't have any problem with the time/date...bu with wmwifirouter, it does appear to not connect via wifi...if i'm on a wireless network, it'll try to disconnect me and the message that's it's trying to connect via gprs pops up...

Even though it says 2.6, when you download it, it is 2.7. I love this rom. been putting some serious use on it and no problems other than the HTC Home.
It could have done without the cube -- I find it totally useless.
Thanks Again.

Okay, the problem doesn't happend when I use WMP my mistake, but the issue comes up when I use the audio manager. The white screen of death/low memory issue happens randomly, and it happens the instant I change a track from my library. I restart my phone a few times a day. I will try what u asked me to try, if u need me to still. Thanks.
PS: The good news is that I installed Touch-it to get a feel of the rom, and the same issue came up as well.
