Create a rom that will offer the following to end users.
Faster
Any body can build a rom faster than the stock one, but will it be more stable?
Looks slick
A phone that will have an interface your proud to show off to your family and friends.
Storage
Extra storage space in case you were not able to buy a sd card.
Easy to use
Comes with apps already install so people do not have to waste too much time downloading extra apps and etc.
Stable
A rom that you will not have to soft reset daily. Fixing common issues found with the original rom.
Fun
A rom with extra games so when your stuck some where and there is nothing to do, you can always play games.

If you don't hear back just PM me directly.
3. Please only post issues with this release in this thread.
Do not double post...! I'm very busy working different project but will figure out a fix if your having issues.
4. If you don't like my rom for some reason, please post it here only and state why you don't like about it.
This will provide feed back for me to use in future releases.
5. I'm not responsible for you bricking your device.
6. Do not call my rom a pretty rom...!
7. My roms do not include the rgu files so you will not be able to recook them. I will release a version with the rgu's included once v3.0 has been released.

And yes, I know it takes a bit of time, and I'll wait. It's just like xmas, though :)

Folks,
This version will be a little bit bigger than the one promised.
I went ahead and added the HTC Touch KeyBoard which took another 1.4MB or so.
I will upload another version today without the HTC Touch KeyBoard included.
Done, check the first post for the link.

No, you are right, but after trying to install Biggy 2.5 nbh, I got an error on step 3 (Error 270: The Image File is corrupted. Please check your update utility). I am updating from OpenTouch v1. Should I flash stock T-mobile, and then try again?!

As for your case if your having too many issues installing it, then just go back to the original rom and then start from there.

This ROM rocks, adding the opera mini to it makes it so much more efficient. The only thing that would have made this the perfect ROM would have been Today Agenda, but I have the .cab for it. Great work and all the keyboards work.

after using Touch-IT for a couple months i decided to try the Open-Touch, Mostly cause i have a Wing. I flashed my Wing on Vista and everything went perfectly. although i have to get used to the start menu. I'm still used to the normal one lol. the only issues i've seen are the "X" button and the "taskmanager" dropdown button sometimes overlap. other than that it seems to be working without a hitch.

Im not sure why that happens to you. Ive been running my Wing at 273mhz since I got it. I always go under omap and choose overclock to speed 273, then check overclock on wakeup, remember last cpuspeed and overclock after reboot.
Never had an issue. And I do not use cpu scaler.
what does the "start clean" program do?
Cleans the start menu's recently used programs.

Hi,
The HTC_Touch_Keyboard is included with this release.
It defaults to the standard white one since some people do not want the HTC_Key_board on all the time.
Just go and do either of the following to enable it.
\Start\Setting\Personal\Input and choose the type you want.
Or when in a menu that has the keyboard option just select it.
I've included the XT9 to be disabled by default as well.

PM me with more details of this issue, I'm still kind of not understanding.
Also, try and go to /Start/Settings/System/Task Manager/Button
And play with the setting.

As for m5faves I will have to look into this, since I removed most of it, but then again it's a tmobile rom...

For now do the following.
/Start/QuickMenu/Option/General/
Uncheck the "ok" key to close program
Save
Enable taskmanager via /start/settings/system/taskmanager/button
Click on the Enable "X" button to end running programs

Hello.
I flashed this ROM and it works like charm. I had to flash T-mobile stock ROM before I put this Open Touch v2.5. As a results, I noticed that fonts are not as clear or sharp as in the T-mobile ROM. Anyone noticed this? Is there any way to change that (like enable ClearType or change the fonts?). Just currious. Thank You ttran, you did a great job. Even Solitaire is there, my wife loves me again and all the extra games!
Question 2, on my system, after every reboot, recent program lists is cleared. I would rather leave it there because it is more convenient to find those aps, rather then go to the laucher or programs folder! Anyway to change that? Thanks.

Shortly after, other things started acting up. I had to hard reset. Everything is working fine now. It must have been one of the programs that I put on it that made it unstable. I loaded up PocketGBA emulator last. I think that was the culprit. I dont want it anyways because its slow so whatever.

II. How do I flash an NBH file?
a. USPL
Step 1. Download Herald-USPL-Beta3.
Step 2. UnZIP the file into a folder on your Desktop. Let's call it "MyFirstROM" for simplicity's sake. Notice that there is a folder called RUU within this folder now. Keep that in mind.
Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into that RUU folder. Make sure that that NBH file ends up in the RUU folder, not within a folder inside the RUU folder.
Step 4. Place your phone into flightmode.
Step 5. Go back to the MyFirstROM folder and then run USPL.exe
Step 6. Follow the directions on the screen. EXACTLY.
Your screen on your cell phone will go white around the 75% part of the "second step" now.
ActiveSync will LOOSE its connection.
Step 7. One step 3 on that black window, the RUU flasher will pop up. Just follow the steps.
That's it. :-) Welcome to the flasher's world.
b. HardSPL
If the ROM comes with JUST an NBH file, then follow these directions. If the ROM comes with all the flasher files, just skip run the program.

Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into the RUU folder.
Step 4. Run the RUU flasher. Follow the steps that pop up on the screen.
III. How do I flash a os.nb file?
Step 1. Copy Aserg's Policies unto the phone.
Step 2. Run Aserg's Policies from within the phone.
Step 3. POWER CYCLE the phone. (Press and hold the power button, NOT the softreset button.)
Step 4. Place the phone into flight mode (or just kill the phone radio within your comm manager if you're using the stock comm manager.) Do this AFTER you have power cycled the mode. NOT before. Sometimes it reverts back to normal if you do it before you power cycle.
Step 5. Run the !Upgrade_rom.bat.

Some of this might have already been covered. Using Biggy version.
HTC Random Access is missing. Added the files to the Windows directory and now the RomSettings Contact Mode switch works for this feature.
HTC Keyboard. I remember the cab version switching to the 20 key suretype layout when in input mode. I never quite understood how this feature worked though. You had the Keypad and Keyboard. No matter which option you selected it would flip from keyboard to keypad when input was required. In this implementation it is opposite. No matter whether I pick keypad or keyboard the keyboard takes priority. Is this intentional?
Also, the Enable T9 in RomSettings should work in conjunction with they Keypad, correct?
The Ms. Pacman executable exists in the Program Files and the Windows directory. It looks like the shortcut is pointing to the one the Windows copy.
I don't know how you did it but with the 4meg page pool I am getting 29 megs of free program memory after a soft reset. That is the most free memory I have seen on my Wing. You really have cleaned things up with this rom. Thanks.

Would be cool to get this cooked in, but in the mean time I'm just using the cab I've attached. Only thing is, this cab gets munched when you install, but it's the last one that will go *poof*. Just make sure you copy/paste instead of cut/paste to your device.

I think so. Open quickmenu go under settings then under the command menu. click create shortcut and make it for hibernate. put it under the programs folder or whatever folder you like. now you can put that icon in your system start menu and that should work.
Thanks, that worked. Except that after running it everytime, QuickMenu turns on automatically, even though I said not to start at startup. Hibernate has QM as the icon, that must be why (some weird association). No big deal, I can live with that.

ttran001,
Very nice! I began trying ROM's in early December and have chosen yours to use. I relate to the apps you have chosen in your cook and have had 'great success' (borat) with your layout. Now that I am using Open Touch v2.5, my Wing runs smoother than v2.4, and I don't have to setup as much after the initial install because you have placed the proper settings to accomodate us users: i.e.
1. QuickMenu check on 'replace system start'
2. QuickMenu no check 'show battery status'
...and so on (couldn't think of all the others differences right off the bat)
Quick Ideas for the update to come, may help with less user setup.
1. Battery status on home screen since it can, initally, only be accessed from file explorer.
2. TCPMP linked to the Cube's Video Link (DivX vids rock after downsized to fit the screen)
Is there a way for these ideas to happen?
1. Associate Opera Mini with the "Favorites" links on the Start Menu. I am a first time 'Opera Mini' user and am in love with its interface.
2. Without changing the visual size of the "x" in the top right, is there a way to enlarge the screen response area so that we can close out of screens easier without having to use the stylus or our thumbnails.
All in all, I am super stoked to have found xda developers and your Cook. I am a networker who is starting to get into some basic programming and I will be responding quicker and more often (AND SHORTER) to what you all ask from us. I hope to add to developement in the near future.

I have two easy suggestions. One is to include undelete cab after install (I lost a cab thinking that was part of the hacks). Another is to include Hibernate to free up Ram, even though there is plenty. It might be hidden somewhere, but I didn't find it. Thanks. Otherwise great job.
Oh yes, almost forgot. I can't seemed to use some of my tsk files for bagrounds (they don't display correctly); even though they worked in your version 1. Just currious why, I can live without them. Mighgt upload one if u are currious. Thanks A Lot for such an awesome job.

if u notice the rom has the black bars cooked in/or something strange...everytime i soft reset on biggy 2.5 my theme is gone and ttran's blue with black bars is back on reboot. it's not typical for a theme to be erased after a soft reset. also when i create a theme with tkcreater the top and bottom bars come out way too dark when i install the theme it appears that the grayish/black bars are still threre under the colors i chose on my theme.

Thanks.
Ttran i have had probs since 2 4 beta there is something with playing videos that messes the touch 9 keypad up.
i vote on the next release dont include it in the rom we can cab install and uninstall when it messes up.

one quick question.. did u add the WSPHeader.cab?
cause it says its one the Rom in the 1st page.. but when i receive MMS.. the pic comes out small..
i have that cab file so its no biggie.. but i was just wondering:D
I created the oem package for that from the cab file and it was included in the rom.
This is really strange, I verified that it show up in the registry and some members told me that its working. Is anybody else having this issue?

I hate to say this but try a hard reset, you might have a bad flash or bad download of the rom.
Also, I will be uploading a new version with most of the fixes tomorrow.

Would be cool to get this cooked in, but in the mean time I'm just using the cab I've attached. Only thing is, this cab gets munched when you install, but it's the last one that will go *poof*. Just make sure you copy/paste instead of cut/paste to your device.
I tried to add this to the rom but was not successful in creating a oem package for it.
It's only a reg hack but it does not seem to work as a package. I will have to work more on this.
The only rom I've used so far that had it included was from the PDAVIET group.
As we all know the PDAVIET team have been around for a long time now and I"m just getting started.
Plus I'm rolling solo, so it going to take some time for me to figure out all of the tricks of the trade.
Also, T-Mobile adds stuff in their version of the rom that makes a lot of my reg hacks not work, I guess some of their proxml files take over once the rom is built.

I am currently using Touch-IT v2.3 (I think) and just found out a few days ago that there is a problem with receiving files (contacts, appointments, etc) via bluetooth. My wife has a Wing also using the stock ROM and I can send files to her phone fine, but when I try to send files from her phone to mine, it always fails. So now I'm looking to update my ROM again and wanted to see if this issue exists with the Open-Touch rom. Anyone out there test this yet (receiving files via bluetooth transfer)? I'd normally love to experiment, but with a new baby, my time is pretty limited...sigh.

Nice work on the new 2.5 ROM! Been testing the Biggy version since yesterday and it's definitely much faster than 2.4. However, for some strange reason, all of the apps I installed afterwards on my storage card have now disappeared. The only remaining folder is the "Ie Temp" folder that hosted my temp internet files. Kind of a pain, since I had quite a few apps, photos, documents, etc. I've done a couple of soft-resets and card reinsertions, but no luck. Any ideas what might've caused that to happen?

maybe you opened the bluetooth explorer? if so...it might've created another folder option...which could've messed up your folder listing (memory, storage card, bluetooth)...so when you try to explore files, it sees the bluetooth folder rather than the storage card? if this is the case, you might see a "bluetooth" folder when you use total commander...(has the little chip icon on the folder). if you do, to turn it off, go to settings, comm manager...then settings (right soft key), then ftp tab, and uncheck the enable bluetooth explorer. if that doesn't work...not sure...since i haven't had any problems...

I've only been able to activate it when i used the top to bottom setting...the halfway setting wasn't easy to activate...essentially, with the top to bottom, you just need to slide your finger or stylus from the middle top (where the top bar is) down to the bottom middle (bottom bar)...and it should activate.

Is it possible to add the direct push so that I can get email from my office exchange, right now, I can sync contacts, calender but I cannot get any email, I think it may be because of the direct Push not being there. correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it definitely wasn't bluetooth explorer (which I have disabled). I've reinstalled my "can't live without apps" in main storage now and will monitor the storage card situation. I'm starting to wonder if it's a Vista sync thing, since so many other people have reported different problems.

Might be the same issue we had with the CommManager package... There's a key somewhere in the ROM itself.

Composed of thin strands of carbon, tightly woven in a weave pattern, that are set in resin. It is a highly futuristic looking material with a definite "ahhhh" factor. go to start/settings/menus/ uncheck the ?help box then scroll down and check the touchflow box. hit ok. then start/menu/touchflow...underview mode choose top to bottom hit ok, hit yes in the confirm box that pops up. your device will reboot...when it's back up swipe your finger from the very top of the screen to the bottom... try a few times at different speeds. the cube should pop up then left to right swipes to spin and bottoms up to close.

Definition: Carbon Fiber
Composed of thin strands of carbon, tightly woven in a weave pattern, that are set in resin. It is a highly futuristic looking material with a definite "ahhhh" factor. Of all the lightweight synthetic handle materials, carbon fiber is perhaps the strongest. The main visual attraction of this material is the ability of the carbon strands to reflect light, making the weave pattern highly visible. - http://www.ebladestore.com/glossary.shtml
Suggested lite wallpaper.
That looks great,
I would like to use this for the next release can you post the other version os well.
Also, the today icons looks great.

Hi ttran,

I went to settings
Clicked connections tab
Clicked connections icon
Managed existing connections
T-Mobile Data:
Enter a name for the connection: T-Mobile Data
Select a modem: Cellular Line (GPRS)
Next
Access point name: wap.voicestream.com
Next
User name: Blank

Domain*: Blank
Advanced
Went to Proxy Settings Tab
Checked: This network connects to the Internet
Checked: This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet

SECURE WAP: BLANK

Crossing my fingers that this new radio will give better reception...the reception in my apartment keeps going in and out, even though when it's good I get three bars. This is annoying as heck and I'll be happy even if I only get 1 bar, but consistently.

The difference in reception from one radio to the next is determined by many different factors. Location being the biggest. I have not dropped a call in the 2 weeks since I flashed the new radio. Hopefully, you will see the same results. Some guy claims to have an even newer radio, but he is being stingy and keeping it from us. :)

maybe its just me, and i did search this forum... is anyone else having problems with opera mini? it is stalling at about 75% installation.
can i make a suggestion too, ttran? perhaps a change in the next build, altering the reg key to make the backlights for the keyboard and for the front keys to be much longer? i think the front times out in 3 secs. and personally i would like about 10 secs. I dont know how anyone else feels about it, but maybe if the feeling is mutual it could be changed. if not, then i will change manually - just a thought.

First, I gotta say I love the rom. Looks great and runs very smooth with no freezing. Only problem is ever since I updated, I am unable to get PocketCM .19 working. I install the cab and make the change in ROM settings, but when I hit contacts, its still opens the old contact list. i tried installing some of the older versions of PocketCM and I get the same result. Anyone having similar problems or know how to correct? Thanks in advance.

Dude, you realize that you could have flashed to this and back to the RUU about 1000 times and just played around with it yourself while you've been waiting for screens?
I'll personally take a ton of snaps for you and post them tommorow. Just know that I have installed some stuff after flashing ttran's rom, so it won't be 100%, plus I take pride in making my phone look shiny, which also isn't OEM-Ttran.

it was doing that for me 2.. but its no big problem.. u can easily change it wih the softkey's changer
start>settings>softkeys>chose what side u want it left or right> look for it in the pocketcm folder.. and chose the pocketcm.exe.

FWIW, here is a cab that i hacked together to add the TouchFlo Cube to the SlimLine release. It also adds the TF Settings and TouchSettings to the Program menu.
As the Slimline version does not have TCPMP installed, you will either need to install it or go into Touch Settings on the MediaHub tab and change the Videos app to \Windows\wmplayer.exe

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to create and post this cab, but I left the cube out for a reason.
The main point of the slimline was the additional space. The cube takes up a lot of extra space, that's why I left it out.

I am not sure why would people want to see the battery icon in the top bar, I would rather leave the clock there, cause when you are in an application, it is more useful to know the time, then the battery (that's why we have a battery status enabled). Otherwise I am glad to see the changes!
By the way, when I confirmed that i wanted Voice Speed Dial, I was thinking more of a Voice Command, but no big deal! Thanks for your efforts.

As for Voice Command, not going to add it since it requires 4+MB of space.

Hey in version 2.4, when you would click on one of the icons (such as notification, EDGE connection, reception) on the menu bar or start bar (for lack of better term) it would go into a "zoom" feature, where all the icons would be enlarged to make it a more user friendly. This was an awesome feature.
In version 2.5, I don't get this feature. Is there any way i can add this through a cab file? i've been searching for this feature for days!
THANK YOU!
Also, my version is experiencing the HTC home delay. The system is very fast, but the HTC home orientation change takes the longest. Would reflashing possibly help this problem?
By the way, this ROM is amazing. It makes me actually enjoy my wing because of the speed and responsiveness of the system, rather than be frustrated with lack of performance. The built in programs are perfect for what I use. Thank you.

No,
I'm currently having issues with the new rom I just received from a forum member. It does not run as well as this one does.
But will keep everyone posted.
The major difference in v2.5 and v2.6 is the included fixes and add-on apps.

Speaking of slow redraw on the HTC home: everytime I slide open the keyboard and then close it back (after waiting for it to redraw, of course) on the home screen, the HTC home plugin doesn't seem to ever resize itself correctly. Don't know if this has been discussed, just something I noticed.

Please remember that we are talking about the wing...
Also,
Please make sure that you dont have too many programs open or currently still running. Once In awhile run Hibernate.
To test this, softrest your phone and see if it does this once it comes back up completely.

It didn't seem like an issue of speed or program memory because it didn't appear to be lagging during the redraw--at least not any more than normal--it just looked like it got confused :P
It seems to happen if I close the keyboard before it is finished drawing... then the home screen becomes elongated. If I close it after its finished drawing, there is an empty space where the scroll bar lands when you close the screen. I never open my keyboard at the home screen any way, so it's not really a concern, just an observation. Thanks for the quick reply, though

Hes right. It happens a lot. I never really said anything because I never really cared. But yeah, if you close it and the scrollbar is drawn on the screen, when the scrollbar goes away, it erases the part of HTC Home that was underneath the scrollbar.
Also, if you open it and close it quickly, the entire HTC home program will become offset. This doesn't really happen that much though because you kind of have to intentionally make it happen.
