Can not "On" Wi-fi

Mumble. Right. When you switch on Wifi, does the icon change colour?

It should match the colour of one of the other active options, such as Phone or Ringer.

When the wifi is active, how are you 'testing' that it is working?

If I switch my wifi on, it will eventually pop up a message about other secure wifi networks available, but if you haven't any in your area then that will not happen.

Do you have your own wifi transmitter, such as a router, wireless access point or another computer/device?! If so, what?!

Also, there is the Search (http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php) feature at the top of the site, click on that and put something in like prophet+wifi and have a look at other peoples responses.

Oddly enough I had the same issue. I'm on a WM6 Prophet and my wifi didn't start.
After som soft resets, I realised that the BT was on, so I disabled it and tried to star Wifi... It worked like a charm.

Try that, Bluetooth on and off and then try connecting wifi.
