View Full Version : [REF]New Reg Tweak Better Cube Performance

bereda
19th January 2008, 12:58 AM
this tweak will reduce the amount of pressure it takes to use the cube gestures

1 open reg editing software
2 navigate to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings
3. in HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings find DWORD fingerpressure...
4. enter in to edit mode then either double or quadruple your oem setting which is 3760
5. !!!!!!!!!*******DO NOT decrease the OEM value only increase IT WILL ACTUALLY TAKE MORE PRESSURE********!!!!!!!!
6. soft reset then enjoy reduced pressure gestures!!

.................................................. .................................................. ...........

also figure out this could lessen normal wear and tear(scratching of protectors/PDA screens) since lesser pressure is applied to Tap the screen

here's what i did..

thru the PHM registry editor(or any PPC registry editor)

go to..

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Drivers\TouchPanel

then find DWORD PressureThreshold'

Change the value of PressureThreshold.(INCREASE value ONLY!!!)

i tried doubling the default value. until i have reached my desired setting.

now,its like tapping soflty without having a feeling that i have screen protector. Also less stress on the stylus and screen and faster tapping.:-)

WARNING: Only INCREASE THE VALUE BUT NEVER THE DECREASE THE DEFAULT VALUE.

Lowering the value of Pressure Threshold means you need to apply more pressure in tapping than you normally do.

Instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Drivers\TouchPanel

I searched the DWORD PressureTreshold and found it at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel

maybe there are different Versions and other Destinations of the Key TouchPanel.

Very nice tweak! I always thought I had to apply to much pressure to the screen even before I was using the screenprotector.

Thanks for this!

Edit: it is also much nicer to work with the PCM keyboard now! Typing goes smoother.

So what you people use for the value under PressureTreshold for TouchPanel?

I doubled them both

hey man these are great tweaks. I jus added these tweaks to the Touch Wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Touch_Sensitivity), keep em' coming man

and yeah as some members suggested it is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\TouchPanel

can u verify this bereda, so as to reduce the posts which doubts the location of the registry key

I just will add this tweak also on my elf with Blue Touch 4.0 ROM and my value is already 9518. So Swiftblade ROM users dont have to add this tweak i guess :)

Are you talking about HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings\fingerpressure or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Drivers\TouchPanel\pre ssurethreshold. My first value was 3681 instead of 3761 and my second one was 9350. I just doubled them both.

Im talking about HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Drivers\TouchPanel\ pressurethreshold

Like I said, I doubled that one anyway. There is nothing being said about a default value for that one in the first post. I think doubling that variable is why pressing keys on my PCM keyboard and the overall "touchscreen experience" is going better.

Its wierd.. I change the first one but the second tells me access denied.. even restarted the phone and tried connecting again.. I can change the first one.. but I can't change the one inside the TouchPanel directory..

Im using Mobile Registry Editor.. its pretty simple.. can't even search in it so I want to try something else.. Im going to search around for one but if someone wants to let me know what they prefer that would be awesome..

my touchpanel threshold is at 38372

and my touchflo is at 15040
its great for me

For the TouchFlo, I found that it did have an effect.. however, I tried adjusting the PressureThreshold and didn't notice much difference... :(

Thanks for the tweak!

Same here. "access denied".
Any way to go around this, to change the pressurethreshold value?

bereda

you dont have to do both the touchflo one should work just fine

The screen align setup actually sets the presure threshold value. So if you are not wanting to do any registry editing, but want the best (less pressure to respond) go into settings, system (tab), screen and press the align screen button. When the +'s come up like they did when the device was fresh, use the stylus to tap the + as lightly as you can to get it to move to the next position. The instructions on the screen tell you to press firmly - wrong! The harder you press during this setup, the lower the lower the value will be in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Drivers\TouchPanel

On my Touch XL, if I press very lightly I usually get around 10500. If I press hard, I get around 8900. For me I manually set the registry at 35000 and it works great, without any adjustment to the touchflo setting. I found making changes to the touchflo setting made the cube come up when I didn't want it to and made the scrolling through items with my finger not easy (doesn't stop when you want it to).

2manyphone, that makes sense... hwever I have to make some good pressure (more than I wated to) to align the screen...
Tomorrow I'll check the registry so see how it came!

first of all - man, your tweaks rox! thanks a lot for the effort :)
i aligned my screen a week ago and i had the value in registry 11478 or something like that, i boosted it to 30k and no noticeable difference, the HW just can't go further than like 12-15k i guess

bereda
1st February 2008, 10:08 AM
my touchpanel threshold is at 38372

and my touchflo is at 15040

when you set to these settings its very noticable and aligning your screen doesnt do much for pressure sensitivity

OH and thanks to every one

well actually when you set the threshold to such a large number and then you align screen, you're practically decreasing the values again

new hack better cube speed.... testing now

bereda
3rd February 2008, 11:04 AM
just came up with another new cube tweak to speed up the speed in which your cube rises and falls!!!! im working on more for other programs other than the cube!!....

and like all my tweaks and hacks i personally test them out!!!!! so there shouldnt be a problem

here it is....

1 open reg editing software
2 navigate to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings
3. in HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings find DWORD ...speedhigh
4. enter in to edit mode then either double or quadruple your oem setting which is 40
5. then find HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings find DWORD ...speedlow
6.enter in to edit mode then either double or quadruple your oem setting which is 65
!!!!!!!!!*******DO NOT decrease the OEM value only increase IT WILL ACTUALLY MAKE IT SLOWER********!!!!!!!!
7. soft reset then enjoy

my settings are

speedhigh...160
speedlow...260

bereda
3rd February 2008, 11:05 AM
another one i forgot to mention is to lower the delay that it takes for the cube to responed

1 open reg editing software
2 navigate to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings
3. in HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings find DWORD ...delaydiff
4. enter in to edit mode then lower that down to what ever setting is good for you your oem setting which is 40
5.soft reset and enjoy

!@!!!!! do not increase unless you want the cube to respond slower!!!!!@!

my setting is 25... i think thats the lowest

Hey bereda, great tweaks man, I have been following your tweak suggestion!

This is off topic from here, but seeing you are quite familiar with the registry settings and tweaks, could i direct you to this thread

Didnt work for me on the Touch enhanced. It says installed but its no where to be found on my device.

Sorry, easy workaround: PHM Registry Editor is an old program and the desktop installer does not work on Windows Mobile 5.0. To workaround this; just copy the "regedit.Mrln_ARM.CAB" file from "C:\Program Files\PHM\PHM Registry Editor" on your desktop computer and paste it to your pda. Finally run the .cab file on your pda. http://winzenz.blogspot.com/2006/03/hacking-your-windows-mobile-50.html

Guys, thanks for this tweek. I got my Elfin today and I was disappointed at the fact I had to apply a lot of pressure to the screen, specially in TouchFlo.
Big improvement!

Thanks,

It seems us Vogue users should visit this ELF forum a lot because so many things are similar..

Whats the difference with the TouchFLO and the Touchpanel ?
I thought the TouchFLO would handle everything

hmm, i use rescvo registry and i can't find

HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\TFLOSettings

ore

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\touchpanel

i can go to HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\software\OEM\ and then there is no TFLOsettings file same with other directory, i can go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\ but there is no touchpanel

Then i used the search function and i found touchpanel under directory HKEY_CURRENT_USER\TOUCHPANEL and the DWORD data is 1 ! i din't change it so i don't do something wrong ;-)

what can be the prob? i must say i am not shure what phone type i have of the htc touch

Tried the setting. But. Setting higher speedhigh and speedlow actually slowed down the scrolling in Contacts.
Does the Cube FPS reg tweak for Cruise/Polaris work for P3452(Elfin)?

Have you checked?

Works a treat!!

What value would you recommend, mine was set to 2450 by default (t-mobile UK)

I set it to 4050 would you recommend going higher?? or leave as is?

Many thanks in advance,

Is there a maximum value for this? I set mine at 999999 for both fingerpressure and pressurethreshold. So far so good, it only takes a slight caress to bring up the cube, or even to type =)

You should try advance cconfiguration tool, it's a bit way easier :P
i;m guessing omnia is a pocket pc >> never used one but
all pocket pc users should just scroll down under touchflo and change values
