Very clean and stable WM6.5 roms for HP 6828 WWE 20100218 update 30/6.1 M2D V3.1

Hi HelloWorld,

Need your advise.

I'm currently on B142 and i have not encounter any problems( which makes me hesitate to flash to ur latest ROM) till something unusual happen this morning.

My battery level as indicated by Ariel Battery software was 37% this morning. After fiddling around for a while, i decided to perform a soft reset. However, while phone was booting up, there was an indication that main battery was exhausted and to avoid any damage to the phone, it shut down automatically. I was unable to start the phone again till i charge it. Funny thing is the battery level was 0% when i managed to switched it on again...Why was there a sudden drop from 37% to 0%? this is normal or there is something wrong with my phone/battery?

The capacity counter in the battery chip indicates that the battery contains 37% power. But the voltage meter in the chip found that the battery has no power at all. So the chip recalibrate your battery's maxium capacity so that the battery is 0% at this point.

the close icon means there is no "frame box" on the close icon.not really close the program.

I'm using b196, wifi is ok without any modification. What's your problem?

btw, my chick is 6828.

Just can't connect (it detect the network though), and further have to soft reset the device to connect via GPRS after tryyng with wifi (and failed..:()

I helped my friend upgrade his O2 to the new modded WM6.1 today. He downloaded the one with Manilla 2D. So i witnessed first hand the feel of it. Frankly speaking apart from the lagginess of the system, all the effects moved me. Hope u'll come out with a M2D version for 6828 soon. Keep up the good work. :D

I've seen many posts here asking if ipaq 6815 will work on this ROM.
I've got one, and it work perfectly. Actualy i prefer it over the original.
The unic incoveniece is the fact that i can not thake pictures. Well there are patches posted in this forum that will make it work. if you install it in these order it wil work flalessly, so you realy dont nedd to make any new patch to you rom helloworld1.

You did HARD reset or SOFT reset.
Hard reset deletes everything you installed and goes back to the rom as it was flashed so it does not make any sense to install a patch and then do a hard reset.

I have found blue manila 2D for 6828, i hv make it into oem specified by garmin tutorial using hypercore.
then I cooking using several rom, from your 6828 kitchen, dumped from your stable rom, WM5 their Original rom, Nhocbanme, or biohazard rom.
All allways sucsessfully build by BuildOS bepe, with notified at first time, are i want include Manila in rom, i check on it.
but unfortunately, every I flash into my 6828 using SDcard, :( allways freeze at "clean boot and reaset to factory setting" screen.
May i loose something step?

Some one can provide stable wm 6.1 rom for me?, I hv been make Manila 2D oem, but if i cooking using 6268 kicthen with SYS 20273, run very unstable for me, many apps not function correctly.
I try improve tweak from registry, cause my 6828 going crowded :D
dump from helloworld stable rom just make my screen freeze after clean boot display.

Glad to see you again. I put much afford to port new kernel and system for new version, so the memory leak problem is less through my test. The stability is only slightly better than the previous ones. The usability is the same, no major new function. I will release an update to address some VGA to QVGA porting problems after the busy time applying study abroad.

My memory will be about 23MB. After soft reset, it is about 28.8M. After two days. It will not drop below 20M when closing all apps.

Hey thanks! I do still follow the thread every second day, except that I don't have anything to contribute/post just yet.

I have been using the HTC Diamond, to be honest, I would stick to my 6828 if it has HSDPA, there's not a lot of gain for the money I paid for the Diamond other than the good look design and form factor. But I really do need HSDPA... I'll still keep it as a spare phone/GPS though.

With the memory leak, I think it is the norm for winmo... programs often failed to release memory when closed.

If a new firmware is already in the work, I might as well wait for it then :)

Looking at your info above and Helloworld's, it seemed normal to me, it's about the same as what I have now in terms of memory usage, but that also depends on the stay resident program running as well, and the number of today screen items.

The mediafire cannot be accessed here for a long time. I think it is b a n e d. Anyone can suggest me a good site that you can download easily without waiting and I can upload it easily. Also, it will keep the file longer.

I will release a new WM 6.1.4 release (Based on M$'s 6.1.4 emulator images) in the near future(Maybe also the Xmas gift). It will include -- AdobeFlash3.1, ie6, Microsoft Touch. This release will be in testing branch of my ROM. It is not related to the new minor update to the stable ROM.

I know about that, but the ROM core ia diffrent with you. and still there are some minor bug in his ROM. It is up to you Helowordl1, but many people still want your ROM with manila 2D

Here are the results:
1. Please re-boot after Clean Installation. Because Camera will hang if we not re-boot 6828.
2. M2D is very fast. Compared to manual installation, it is faster.
Except there is no Google Maps, so I must install it manual, but it's okay, no problem for me.

Hp theme is deleted by accident. Windows default theme is that green one. I will add hp one it back in next release.

There's no need to include google maps.

I don't know how to customize color but I know how to disable the enlarge thing. run windows/tfsettings.exe

A soft reset after flash is enough for camera to work.

That would be very bad. 2G card does not guarantee success flashing. But there are people who succeeded.

I suggest you use other's windows PC to flash the ROM. Or use VirtualBox and Windows Image. Wine is not useful to flash ROMs.

1. Microsoft Touch is working. Good. I like IE6 much. It is same like HTC Opera Browser, can zoom in and zoom out.
2. The sub menu is not compact size. The font is bigger. I'm not convenient for this.
3. Very fast ROM. Not consume big memory. If we use Manila 2D, it will consume more memory.
4. No need to restart 6828 to launch Camera. Camera is faster loading.
5. Other things are working....

Compared with b218 and Secret Jade, I prefer Secret Jade, because I like Manila 2D very much. Why don't you combine it? In Secret Jade please try to add Microsoft Touch, and fix Audio Booster.

You seems wrong to press button.

When you see "Device clean boot", it is Clean Reset.

I've seen from some M2D screenshots from other places (I forgot where) that there is a screen for the user to choose between different profiles (Normal, Vibrate, Silent)


You will see it in Jade ROM, you can access from TouchFlo M2D, touch button Settings, then Sounds, you will see Phone Profile and System Sounds.

Your RW6815 is still alive. I'm sure your boot-loader is still there.

4. You will see your RW6815 again

Please try remove Mobile Device Profile:
1. Open Ms. ActiveSync
2. Click File->Delete Mobile Device, make sure when you browse File->Mobile Device it is empty.
3. Try synchronize again, and add your Company Server again.

It works for me :-D

If you are using SD card, you do NOT need a PC.

Put card in and pull out the battery.

That would be bad. It is not the ROM's problem. Does the problem occur after you restore backup?

I did not restore a backup.. i just key in the details for my company server just like what i did previously. Yeah i think its not the ROM problem as well if not i would not be able to syn previously.

Any other solution for me? Feeling damn frustrated now as i needed the function badly..:(

I sugest you try reinstal the original ROM HP6815. I had a similar problem and a PC reinstal of the original ROM worked for me. :)

You need to PULL OUT the battery BEFORE pressing the "-" key.
Then insert the battery WHILE you are still holding the key.

Download it

Get a copy of the WM ROM.

* Read the description of the ROM properly. Flashing to an incompatible ROM may cause damages to your device *

If you have problem decompressing the downloaded file it could be that you do not have the correct decompression software.

What??? you flashed your 6815 with O2 ROM?

From your explanation at your posts, you still can go to bootloader, your device always said "clean to factory default, ok??

it is you must to do,
1. download ROM design for 6815 and design to flash by SD Card, 2. extract the downloded file, and copy "Diskimg.nb0" file to root of your SD card.
3. Do flash by press two "-" button and reset in the same time.
4. wait for 20 - 30 mnt.

you can find camera path in the first page of this thread.
Why don't you flash with Hellowordl1 ROM?:rolleyes: that's more better than O2 ROM. I suggest you flash by SD Card, this way is more save than by PC. Read the instruction at the second post of this thread, and the download link at second post too.

try flash by SD Card, extract the download file, copy to the root of your sd card (SD card max 1GB), push two button "-" and reset at the same time, wait for 20-30 mnt, after that your device will hard reset itself.

Either use SD (no need for PC) or PC method. If PC method you can refer to my guide posted first page 2nd thread. Good Luck.

You need to copy the camera.dll in the same thread into your /windows directory to replace the 6828 one.
You may need Resco Explorer or some other file explorer to copy it in. The built-in explorer does not work.
And reset your device. Then you can try.

Can you upload your kitchen with WM 6.1.4 base ROM? I will try to make build in M2D, he..he..he.. i will working hard with it.

Extract the my ROM using viewimgfs and run PackageTools. Then Replace the SYS and OEM into my previous kitchen. If you have problems extracting it, you can ask me.

It is huge to upload. You know, rapidshare is very very slow here.

Hope you can make one with M2D and ie6 together. Maybe you need to remove the office and onenote as well as the calculator and welcome center.

I think that registry tweak will fix the Activesync problem. Have you tried?

If you connect to PC, it will automatically restore that registry.
I may try to write a simple program to restore registry after pc connection and reset.

It is not called sleep to death anyway.
I don't have this problem. I tried pressing it about 30 times and the device turned on/off 10 times. But I can still turn it on afterwards.

it did happen to me also...it seems to happen often whenever I'm replying/sending sms and pressing the power button to turn the screen off...
and then I could never turn on again.... :)
so everytime I just soft-reset...

what is dim light? you can always disable backlight when playing by setting the buttons.

If you like, replace the arcsoft MMS to old 4.xx version and will give you about 1M space.
If you like, replace .NETCF 3.5 with 2.0, it will give you about 1M space.
If you like, delete the calculator, it will give you mor than 400K space.
If you like, delete the photo & video, it will give you several hundred KB space.
If you even want more space ,you can replace the SQM with NULL and the WelcomeCenter with Dummy and delete the "get started", it will give you about 3M space.

If I soft-reset it, sometimes it could be fixed, sometimes couldn't; and to make worse, I lost all of my messages...

I usually turn off the phone (GSM) at night and open it again in the morning (battery is full when I turn it off). In the morning, I try to open it, by pressing the button "ON" at the top of my 6828, but it automatically soft-reset. it happen quite a time now, and sometimes, if I leave it for about 2-3 hours, and I turn it on again, it automatically soft-reset again...

I am at work where i tried to flash my rw6815 with Besfen's Manila 2D WM6.14 ROM (Manila 2D in B221) I cleared my San-disk 2GB Minisd card and put all my stuff in one folder(Others) so the root would be as clear as possible i copied the diskimage.nb0 file to my card whet into bootloader menu(PBL1.0.5) where it flashes for 12min and then the screen goes black but the pad's light stays on. I say ok ill leave a bit more but nothing...
I took the bat out and held the two "-" buttons and but the bat back in it goes into a flickering bootloader screen with the pad buttons lights off and tries to reflash but after 12 min it just goes off again. Does the card have to be completly clean (formated) if yes in what format? What's this about the 12byte header? Do i need any extra files?
I have preeviusly flash my rw6815 with Prashe's rom(wm6.1) and it was ok. Am i missing something? Please Help

You don't need to add 12byte header, just copy diskimg.nb0 then flash.

Some people reported that they fail flash with 2GB mini SD.
Try another SD card max 1GB, and flash again.

But is the bootloader sreen ok flikering like that? is it because it cant find the qvga drivers and is doing with minimum resolution and refresh rate?:confused: Does it mater if its primary or logical partition?

It's mean, your PDA still alive, you can fix it by reflash again, i sugest to use another SD card. SD card with defect usually make file tranfer not complete.

I only like to use the sd system because it can't mess with the bootloader in any way so i can't actualy brick the phone completely. I like the clean stile it's practical looks good and everything works ok aceept the camera... I have the camera.dll file that im supozed to replase in the windows folder but i cant replase,rename,move it because it's write protected! And when i go to the cam it just frezzes the device! The whole reason behind this flash was to get he cam working tha't wasn't in the Nhocbanme edition :( And Im having problems with Active Sync4.5 it won't connect...:o

You can't replace????:rolleyes::rolleyes:. Try use resco explorer, resco can replace rom file. Does activesyn work well?

Ok So Far:
1>The Audio Is Very Nice
2>Manila 2d Works Good and doesen't lag at all the device is generaly quite faster
3>SMS,MMS,Phone,WiFi,Obex Bluetooth,Irda,Active Sync All Work good
4>Buttons,Screen,Leds are all ok also
5>Doesn't fill up the ram

It's Gorgeous! But the camera doesn't work. It will load the PhotoSmart and do settings turn the flash on but no stream is coming through to the screen, it's all black... If You have anything please post it so i can try it for you and others so i can tell you what works so we can allso have a rw6815 fully working Rom!
It's very very close to perfection! Is it a kernel incompatibility from the original ce5.0 os to the 5.2 or is it a driver,ini file issue?

My advice ''hahahihi'' is to reflash your phone via sd mode... it looks like either a problem in loading th os or a provider problem meaning that the phone doesent have the info it needs for your provider... the rom is ok in the areas that you are refering to on my phone! what provider do you have? of course you will lose your sms,mms,contacts after flashing! Hope i helped...

You can run "self test" and test the camera and report it. if It is working then try camera again.

The camera,flashlight work with the video test and everything else also but the camera program doesn't show anything! And after if i retry the test it wont come up either.. i have to rr the device to get an image back... I have tried to change the settings also and that does nothing either... its been 6 months since i have seen any image from the cam... I got a smile on my face like this:D. What can we do about the software so it can be completly working and capture also?

If you feel good about the 0.33 radio, you do not need 0.34 radio. It is nothing better than the old one.

To flash the new radio, you need to flash official update with 0.34 radio (May need to replace hpruu.exe). Then Flash back to 6.1.4 using SD card or PC (Rom Only).

sometimes the phone remains in 'no signal' after entered some 'no signal' places for a while, and then back to ordinary places that have signals..

and I ended up have to soft reset the phone, in order to get back my signal

Hi hellowordl1, i will post tutorial how to use your GREAT KITCHEN TOOLS, please correct it if i am wrong.

HOW TO USE HELLOWORDL1 KITCHEN TOOL:
1. Download Hellowordl1 Kitchen Tools and extract it.
2. If you have diskimg.nb0 file that you want to modified, copy it to the TOOLS directory and ROM directory.
3. Open command progran (DOS Mode), and change the directory to the TOOLS directory.
4. Run prepare_imgfs.exe diskimg.nb0, it will dump the .nb0 file.
5. Run viewimgfs.exe imgfs_raw_data.bin, it will make dump folder in the TOOlS directory.
6. Run dmp2pkg.exe, select the dump folder and build package, it will make 2 folder, SYS and OEM.
7. Sometime some files don't move to that folder, you can open missing.txt file to know where the location of that file, move the files to the location said in the missing.txt. Finally, there isn 't files in the dump folder, all file are in the SYS and OEM. Delete missing.txt and OS.bat in OEM folder.
8. Now you can make your ROM, You can replace the SYS and OEM folder in the original hellowordl1 kitchen with your SYS and OEM.

OEM are contain original of app, like driver, and others, you can choose app that suitable for you.

SYS contain of M$ OS.

If you know about the latest build ROM, you can download it, extract, and replace the SYS and OEM folder, but don't forget to copy the OEM driver folder of 6828/6818 to the OEM folder.

HOW TO ADD AN APP???

2. Put the extracted files to the new folder in the OEM. The folder name don't contain space, you can use _ (underscore).
3. Type the registry in the one of .rgu file. There are many .rgu file there, you can edit it with notepad. if you finish save as, choose all file and unicode type, but don't change the name of that .rgu file.
4. Make a shortcut, open initflash.dat file with notepad, the location is in the OEM_lang folder, type the shortcut name. You can read the existing shortcut in that file to know how to do it. Remember to make the shortcut file first in the folder of each app.

After that, just run build.bat file in the kitchen directory, follow the instruction and.... WUZZZ your ROM already created in the FLASH FOLDER.:D:D:D

Some additional file, dmp2pkg.exe file, this file don't include in the Hellowordl1 Kitchen Tool, or you can use pkgtool.exe in the Hellowordl1 Tools.

Use pkgtools.exe instead of dmp2pkg.exe.
It is a graphical tools and works well.

FLashing ROM will not solve this. You may need to flash the Battery's ROM!! haha.

You may need to buy a new battery. I have once bought a HK made one, it is cheap and good.

I bought the battery branded as "momax" made in HK. And I feel it is ok(still 1492mah now) till now for about 2 months. My previous batteries branded as "yoobao" and "japod" all corrupted(below 60% original) after about 4-6 months. The "yoobao" lasted 15 cycles and the "japod" lasted 80 cycles. The original battery corrupts after 1 year with about 140 cycles.
One thing to note is that the "yoobao" and "japod" batteries are slighter larger than the original one. They are very tight and even broke my battery doors.
