I don't think so. My ROM base on Helloworld1 ROM, I just add M2D from jade secreet ROM to his Newer ROM, and of course some improvement of M2D. He maintain the ROM compatibility for 6828/6818/6815. He didn't continue developt M2D ROM, many people want M2D enable in his ROM and because of that i cook M2D in his newer ROM.

You willn't confuse if you read the ROM SELECTION GUIDE Section in the first post.

I just installed the b199 on my 6815, but when I install SPB Pocket Plus it installs, then it asks to reboot the device, but after reboot the program is not installed and in Program Files (of internal memory) there is nothing!!

If you open Cab file with "Wincab Mamager" you will see the registry, export it and paste it in the one of the file with extention ".rgu". For example you can go to foldet OEM, Auto_Config, you will find .rgu file there.

You must set your windows explorer to show hidden file & show system file. Go to tool, folder option, view tab to set it, then search in your OEM folder *.rgu

:D No, I was searching for Wincab manager! I can't find wincab manager with google!

Anyway, with build 199 I cannot change backlight level of my 6815: when I tap the icon for backlight setting nothing happen. It seems like that the program is not compatible with 6815! Is there another way to change backlight? Mybe via registry? Now it is at a middle level but it's too low for me.

I did investigation to the WM registry, and i found that WM use some memory as a cache, and thats why we always loss our PDA memory. I remember that Hellowordl1 ever said that he lost the PDA memory (Not His memory :D:D) after several day and need to do soft reset to get it back, maybe there was a ghost there. ha...ha...ha....:D

Yesterday i disable the memory cache, and I am very surprise because my M2D don't close again. I don't feel the different of my PDA performance, I just use it for make a call, sms, and browsing. I don't know if use benchmark app.

Maybe someone with M2D ROM here want to try it and give me some feedback, but remember to backup your registry first.

i've figure out how to disable activesync auto start.im using helloworld1's method that is by creating fake server,but this time i dont delete that server.just leave it.it wont give a problem if we leave it alone.

now,the activesync auto start every minute/evrytime soft reset problem was solved.

Do not use it on new batteries.
Also due to a bug of bq27200 expert, check LMD_H registry for the real capacity. mine is 1494 at first, and 1476 now.

I have ported aku 1.6.0 sys (21009) to 6828. But I cannot see any changes except the bluetooth. Also the bluetooth is very buggy, it cannot add devices more than 2. The compatibility of resco explorer is also a big problem 4 me.

aku 1.5.0 build 20931/20940 is okay but they have no more features than 1.4.0.
Aku 5.0.0 is out and the 6.5 testing one is leaked too. The final 6.5 will come soon judging from the recent testing releases. I will watch on new builds closely and will try to port 6.5 when it finally releases(released via emulator images or real devices).

Yup, forgot all about PC keyboard keys also applies. You can also tap 1st mail/file, tap "shift" key & tap last mail/file to select a series of mails/files.

I do not have any good method to solve this. The 1997x and 1921x kernel handle this better.

Ignore it, just open "missing.txt in the dump folder, you will find the missing files and location of mssing files.

dsm file contains only description of files and the certificate description, It is not necessary to make system working.

When Some dsm file are not provided in the sys, pkgtools cannot categorize the file related to this dsm.

Many rom maker like pdaviet do not like people extracting the rom in a readable format, so they delete all the dsm file.

I will never do that and hope people who make roms based on mime will not delete any dsm or using other encryption method.

Oooo. The program may give the wrong information.
Also you can see AI and VOLT registry whether it is correct.
If they are all incorrect, this battery does not use BQ27200 chip.

You can also drain the battery to see the real usage time.

Ucweb uses the proxy to render the page, it only conduct the downloads to the direct connection. You can only hope ucweb server to support flash.

I found the skyfire browser to do that even with videos from youtube. The videos are pretty smooth and the browser displays them the way a desktop browser does. =)

I don't remove any file related to M2D Home, i just remove enlarge title bar, audio Bosster, power.

i got a Rw6828 with BL1.0.1, i tried to flash Nhocbanme's ROM but i got stuck in 60% so i decided to unplug the USB and try again. still i got the same problem.

then i tried several other ROM's i saw from the forums, i really like (M2D) ROM and i want it to RUN on my phone.

i used the SD Flashing but i get stuck on BL mode for hours. i placed the diskimg.nb0 on the root of my 128MB miniSD. i don't know waht i'm doing wrong.

BL1.0.1 cannot use the SD method.

I have same bootloader and have flashed the phone using the WinXP method. It is not so difficult if you follow the steps

Read the "How to flash from PC with Windows XP" in the 2nd thread. You have to add the header to the ROM and use the Rom file diskimage_Ver.nb0 with the PC updater files to C:\Windows\Temp and then flash.

NB: make your phone in bootloader mode before connecting to the PC. Your PC must be running Activesync 4.5

Hope you can get your phone back to work again soon

for example: when i plug the usb into pc, there's no red led, i just found charging icon appeared in 5 second, then the battry icon change into full state, funny. no charging at all.

i saw someone said that we could change the usb charging speed. but i did start > setting > power, there's no kind of that option, should it get registry edit?

If BL1.0.1, you should use PC method instead of SD. Check my guide on 2nd thread. Good Luck.

If you are using windows xp, you should install activesync correctly to get it working.
If you are using mac os x, you may need to turn off and then on the setting in power->usb charge
If you are using Linux, you may need to install a usb driver for charging the device.

This beta release ROM is encrypted on purpose and cannot be extracted using tools. You know DFT always do this.

To try to see if you can downgrade back to WM5, please follow the steps in thread 2 "How to downgrade to WM5 using PC"

Please note to replace the original hpRUU.exe with the one in archive hpRUU.zip (download it from the botton of thread 2). Follow the step one by one.

try flash by SD Card, extract the download file, copy to the root of your sd card (SD card max 1GB), push two button "-" and reset at the same time, wait for 20-30 mnt, after that your device will hard reset itself.

hey, wassup! have you tried using another SD card? try to borrow one from your friends... maybe your SD card is the problem. even though it is not broken and you can save files on it sometimes it cannot be used for flashing. i dont know why but it happens.

Bootloader 1.0.1 is not possible to flash through SD method.

Can try to upgrade to bootloader 1.0.5 to use the SD method. I remembered there are some posts to explain how to upgrade bootloader. Please search the forum.

I am not an expert in vista. I search the forum and some say OK and some say not OK to flash with vista. I am lucky to have both XP and Vista. I dare not try to flash ROM via vista as I don't want to have problem with my mobile phone. So far I am using XP to flash my mobile and it works always.

2. run it and after entering the updating screen cancel it.
3. replace the hpRUU.exe in c:\IPAQ(default install) with the attached file hpRUU.exe in archive hpRUU.zip
4. Connect device to PC, then press and hold two "-" button and reset.
5. Run hpRUU.exe and do a normal update.
Note: you may delete eboot*.nbf to prevent bricking the device.

Because Chinese support is disabled to save precious ROM space.
You need to copy a Chinese enabled wince.nls to /windows using resco explorer and reset.
You will also need to install a Chinese font in order to display Chinese.

I uses the following.
1, download radio from hp and replace hpruu.exe with patched one.
2, update it. check radio version in hp asset view.

I just have minor issue (maybe it is not the ROM but on M2D :D ), I notice that in EMAIL widget (TAB), it display I have one unread message (hotmail), even I read all the emails. I tried to resync again, but still showing the "1" unread email. By the way, I used WIFI to sync my mail. It is not a major issue, but I just want to share/report it. :)

It is gsm firmware update.It is just full rom update with a new radio firmware.

Have you upgraded radio? If not , you can have a try. It may be abused by corrupted?radio.

I Have install 0.34 radio version by downgrade to wm5 version, install the firmware update ,, but the problem still appears. i ca'nt make any call or being called :( so sad it happen in both of WM 6.1 and wm 5 ... any solution ?? thank you ...

maybe its hardware related problem i ever happenend thats thing ... when i first time buy ipaq 6828 in semarang.... when my ipaq in standby mode the ipaq cannot be called trying to flash with stock firmware .. update firmware (which contain gsm radio upgrade ) from hp site and helloword firmware .. it`s doesnt work still same problem .. luckely i still can replace my ipaq in store when i buy .. now the problem solved ..

I install the SRS WOW HD, and it is running ok. Really an improvement on the quality of sound, but I notice the loudness is not the same as what we had on original WM5 (with volume set full). It is a minor issue but any suggestion on additional software to install to make it more louder (to avoid missed calls :) ) ?

With regards to the patch (for enhance M2D experience), I installed it and noticed when I open Opera, (with AudioManager running, WIFI on), suddenly the TouchFLO restarted. So, I decided to uninstall the Opera (it is consuming a lot of memory. I'm using Skyfire now. :) ). I also uninstall the patch. Is the patch still applicable to M2D B229 version?

The device name in the comm manager registry need to be changed to the correspondent one for 6828. You can ask BesFen if it is changed. I forgot which registry, sorry.

Hi pinoypi! I also had the same problem with my 6828's speaker volume. But I discovered that if I installed the "Audio Booster" cab, there is a noticeable improvement with speaker sound. It doesn't work as an enhancement, but just by being installed, the sound is louder. Give it a try, it might help.

You still can access the wifi setting from start, setting, connections, WiFi.

For this time, I try to fix WMPlayer, and I found a way to make WMPlayer work as it should be, If it ready, i will upload it soonest.

You can also try TCPMP 0.72RC1 player. It can play almost all codec for TCPMP with flv. It's free.

Check the TCPMP>Options>Select Page>File associations of TCPMP for the list.

mid?? You can play it on windows media player. You do not need to set up anything. The default setting will work.

Hi Besfen and helloworld, I`m new on this PDA world, I have a 6828 that i bought on China some time ago but i only used it as a phone, recently i start to investigate on WM and i installed your b229 V3 on my pda. (I live in south america and i stayed in China fot about 7 months ***It`s a great country***)

I have this problem....

1.- The IPAQ freeze when i push the camera button in the right side or select the camera program on the menu
2.- When i open the IE using gprs the connection makes OK. but when i try to open a page it appears this text "The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again" on all web pages
I already make soft and hard reset`s several times..........

Note to Helloworld: I bought it in Zhongguancun.... !!!!!!!

Yes, it is a problem. The wav sound plays but the midi does not. I think it is due to the sound hardware differences between devices. I will keep an eye on this problem. Thanks for your reports.

Unlike kaiser, 6828 does not have hardware 3d acceleration. I do not know if it is able to run.

1) quick menu 2.8
2) spb weather, pocket plus and phone suite
3) plum sip

You may need to flash via PC if you can.
Also ,you can make a nb0 image from the official image.
You have to cut anything before the nb0 heading (which starts from FE), and then cut the tail so that the image size is exactly 64,000,000 bytes.

Yes I mean nbf image, you need to remove more than 100 byte head and the tail part. I forgot the exact procedure. I will post it later if I can recall.

I use ultraEdit to cut the header to the first FE mark and the tail. I do not know if that is correct ? But I use this modified ROM to flash, of course, via flash card, it is not work.

If I have to flash via PC, is it necessary that I have to downgrade the boot loader to 1.0.3 ?

By the way, the ROM file size, you had told me that, must be cut to 64000000 bytes, but the size ROM file you give it to us are 65536000 bytes, something missed ?

Report:

The size of Original ROM file for WM5 CHT version, titled 1.01.03_rw68x8_diskimage_CHT_sign.nbf, is 65,545,591 bytes.

After cutting header, 0x340 bytes, say 832 bytes, the ROM file size is 65,544,759 bytes.

After cutting 1,544,759 bytes from tail, I get a 64,000,000 bytes long ROM file.

I am now flashing 6828 using this ROM file by MiniSD card......

After the Bootloader screen disappeared, the 6828 is hanged with the backlight of four buttons (2 "-" and 2 phone icon) on and a flashing green light.

Maybe I get to start all over again.

I am now trying to flash my 6828 to your WWE ROM, and then use the official HP USB update program (English version) to flash my 6828 to back to CHT WM5.

Because the ID of the ROM file is different, so I change the ID of CHT WM5 to the English one.

It can be a good discusion, and ofcourse we need the MASTER (Hellowordl1) here, as I know all driver is in the OEM Driver, You can replace this folder with your driver. and look the Oemlang folder to, it contain location of file and could be one of the app needed by driver/hardware to work well, etc wireless manager in the hellowordl1 ROM. Sometime replacing the OEM driver only is not enough, you need to edit the registry, you can learn by trial.

You can try replacing the atom life's oemdriver. I do not know what is in it. If the structure is the same as mime, it may work. But things are not that easy. In most cases, it is not working. Please refer to the drivers in my oemdriver to modify. You may need to flash tens of times if you are out of luck.
Porting xip is a must. refer to the tutorials in this forum.

In my M2D b229 V3.1, accidently I replaced 2 files in the home widged with my family picture :D :D , sorry for that, you can see it when you click/focus the clock.

To fix it, download this file (it only 30Kb)

Both.
If you can preserve more memory when porting XIP, that will conserve some memory.
If you can optimize the SYS. You can also get some.

The optimizing SYS will give you more memory than XIP. Removing a auto startup service will give you hundreds KB free memory.

But the memory will leak. So, the SYS will be very related to the leakage. Stable releases will be less likely to leak. XIP will handle the memory, so new XIP may handle memory better.

The registry related to service will start automatically. They reside in several RGU files.

The initflash.dat will contain shortcuts to start up.

If you do not port new kernel or systems, things are much easier. You can add / remove your own software or modify some registry.

Sorry, Maybe I got something wrong, the patched hpruu did not work.

After downgrading to BL 1.01, my 6828 was turning into the bootloader screen, no even touch any button. After reflashing a ROM and bootloader, 6828 dead.

I try to use JTAG method, 6828 shows update utility sceen up, and can be connected by PC, but the bootloader can not be flashed any more.

By now, the only thing that I can do is to keep try the JTAG method, and then reflash to the bootloader 1.01.

I think that maybe it is time to send it to HP service.

Some Theme make M2D Freeze, maybe it's not compatible. I ever encounter this problem when i use gold theme.
