It is based on released version of new official 6.5 for devices. For the build number, it should be 2184X 2185X and 2186X. AKU 5.0.6X or something. Different devices use different version. I will choose one for you. They are almost the same.

Maybe I will release after viewers > 300,000. Hope I can make the Damn-Old 6828 more lively.

and is very very good ..now have wm6.5 stable and all ok.

After install have only this two problem (solved)

1) Camera don't work
SOLVED installing this two packages:
SdkCerts.cab (reset)
pda-hack.net_hp_rw6815_camera_patch_wwe.CAB (reset)

2) bluetooth toggle possibility to add new device after close bluetooth settings.

In problem 2 is necessary set all device in one time ..and with your rom WORK OK my gps and headset :) ,for example, for add new device in future, is necessary modify regedit, delete all device present in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> bluetooth -> device
..reset ..reopen bluetooth settings and now is possible add bluetooth.

P.S.
for problem 1 is good if you add this two file .CAB

2. I was planned to write a small program, but I haven't. Basically, I just move the device registry to another place and then add new device and then move the previous devices back. I think mortscript can do this easily.

Wow... this is really unfortunate. I´ve downloaded and used b156, b229, and now b318 for extended periods and have been using b318 since I downloaded it last. I´ve even customized it using your kitchen to suit my needs.

I don´t see myself purchasing a new one yet, though the htc diamond has always been in the back of my mind, even now that my daughter accidentally broke my 6828´s lcd screen. I´ve placed an order for a replacement LCD and am waiting to install it this week because I just can´t afford to upgrade yet.

I hope you still push through with the new 6.5 ROM. If only because it will be the last upgrade that M$ will do to the windows mobile 6.x version of the OS. At any rate, more power to you and thank you for your much appreciated contribution to us 6828 owners.

Of cause...

At the first time, I took out my card without truly closing the File Explorer program and copied several files into it. After I insert the card, I could not find out any files in the File Explorer I just copied. Even after that when I took the card out and used my card reader on the computer, I still could not find any files I copied into it.

At the 2nd time, I copied several files into my phone with a pc based software "Zhangzhi" (掌智手机助手), and it turned out that there came 2 "Program Files" in my SD card, same name, same files inside.

You need to configure it yourself. I removed ADC because not enough space.

First, there may be a bug in SD card. When you take out card without closing the built-in FExplore, it will take a lot of time for the device to recognize the newly inserted card. So that's a problem.

But I think your problem is just corrupted file. You took out the card when the I/O is not stopped. Try out more and report it.
For the battery life, it is very hard to measure. Use BQ27200Export, and measure the AI(current) registry. If the idle current is < 100, it should be OK.

Really loyal 6828 user. I haven't changed to other devices because they are too expansive . Also I haven't found any REALLY GOOD phone on the market. I hate application DRM.

Opera mini and Gmail installed, but whenever I try to access a website that requires a username and a password, the password isn't hidden while typing. And after tapping ok, that password isn't transferred to the page, so I can't login.

The same happens when I try to log into gmail. While I type in the password, it isn't hidden. But after I tap ok, the password doesn't get transferred on the login page.

It's only on any of the esmertec java cabs that this happens. It works ok on PIE.

Yes, please continue. Have been constantly updating with your latest ROMs but slowed down lately coz not much update & awaiting BT to be more stable with WM65.

Hi helloworld1, I've reinstalled the old version I used, and the I tried the version you use. When those didn't work, I re-flashed my ipaq, and reinstalled two different versions of jbed. But the problem was still there.

The poutlook will start every time you reset the device. It will be just there.
I think it is normal. If you feel this ROM is slow, You can try my next update. It is not available now. But will be soon.

Starting from WM6.1, AKU 1.5, the bluetooth architecture has changed (The old one is introduced in WM5 AKU 1.2). Then the bluetooth cannot be used at all. So I have to replace most bt related files with old ones. That means, all bt related file are not updated with the newer OS. You are still using some key files from WM5 and Atom Life's WM6. The key file coredll.dll has changed so that the compability has broken. We cannot replace coredll.dll easily, since the system may not boot. ( There is one successful case, that is 21042, replacing the coredll.dll will solve this problem, but the system is not stable).

In conclusion, the newer OS, the worse bluetooth support for this old chip and driver. HP will never release a new compatible driver and other new devices do not use this old chip. The only way is ... writing a driver for this chip ourself. Of course, it is FAR TOO DIFFICULT without the BSP. But if we have it, why bother writing one..

Anyone can think out a better way, please post here.

Use another keyboard software, it may work. I uses a Chinese one called Plum, it is working. Also, touchpal is working. Resco Keyboard is not working. Built-in transcriber is working but it is hard for u to input passwork.

The atom's connection screen is static and cannot be changed. If you like, you can use HP's connection screen, It does not have wifi. But it also cannot connect GPRS.

Maybe your flash is unclean. Do a downgrade using patched RUU to official WM5 and do update to other ROM again. It should be OK.

It is not auto completion, you can try a native password form, the new systen will reveal last input with underline. That new feature breaks it.

No, Jbed is not compatible with newer WM 6.5 very well.\

You can try some other input method. Some are working. TouchPal and plum(Chinese) are working well. You can input password with these input method.

Which ROM are you using?
If all ROMs are not working. You need to flash back to WM 5 official ROM with patched RUU and then try updating to a ROM using SD card again.

Welcome back!
B199 is the last contains CJK support.
B229 is the most stable one because I have been using it for several months. It does not have CJK support because the new IE6 takes about 10M space. If you do not IE6, I may customize one with CJK for you.

The new interface is not HTC interface, it is the M$'s new crappy interface for 6.5. 6.5 ROMs take much much more RAM than 6.1 ones because there is no native NK for 68xx devices.

Ho Padrou, pls try another SD memory, this might happend your SD does not able to flash ROM.

This happend to me prevoiously.... after wait some time, ROM does not flash. Try other 1GB / 2GB memory.

Your device will not brick when resetting.
You can flash the ROM again by going to the bootloader mode.
You can try flashing extrom.
If nothing works, you can flash back to official ROM and then flash any other cooked ROM.

Yes 218XX is the stable tree of 6.5 ROM. 23XXX is the unstable tree and will bring more feature like:
1. The start menu is in the buttom
2. Many things are bigger/ugly.
3. Magnifier.
4. New top status bar.
5. More bloated.

I really don't have time to deal with 23XXX, it gets updated/changed quickly. I hope I can make one if a stable one is out. But currently, I have bad feeling of 23XXX system, M$ should re-think the direction of windows mobile or it will be a total failure after 6.5. Google Android is catching up. HTC has seen this clearly and make several Android phones.

There must be some modules that appears in both SYS and OEM. You need to pay attention to the lower part, the status bar of the BuildOS. It will tell you which file goes wrong when processing it. Or you can give me a full screen shot.

If you have messed up flashing a ROM > WM6, you need a patch RUU to flash the device.
Download patched RUU
http://www.mediafire.com/?dyndlxthzjg

and extract sp35501-36000/sp35816.exe using 7-zip or Winrar or some other programs to a directory.
Replace the hpruu.exe with the patched RUU and run it.
Now put your device in bootloader mode (Press both "-" and reset), and follow the instructions.

Only 1 issue which I can not get solved: I want to use 3 BT devices:
1) GPS receiver
2) SonyEricsson BT watch MBW-150 (using SmartWatchM from xda-dev forum..) :D
3) BT carkit (Parrot Evolution ck3000)

After 2 devices the BT manager only says "connected" as mentioned in post #3235 so I understand that this is a known issue which can only be solved properly by writing custom driver for BT chip which will probably not happen.

You mentioned a work-around in your post #3239 but I'm stuck on the details. I don't have experience in regedit on WM.

I exported the 2 registered devices onto my PC, then registered the 3rd one, then imported the 2 devices back onto my device.

You may have changed something. Or it should work OK.
If you can not change theme, it is mostly becaused of a corrupted provxml file.

If you have then I would take up on your offer, but if this is still ongoing then I will not bother you at this stage because I will not upgrade to B229 right away anyway, as I'm still using my 6828 quite heavily, I'll wait until something is wrong that require a hard reset, then I will upgrade, by then you probably have better versions.

I have not stopped the clean rom and my roms always follows my clean principal. But for the stability, I can not assure. All 6.5 ones are not very stable because 6828 has only 64m memory which is too small for 6.5.Also I am using a modified b229( cleaner) which is very very stable for me and I feel no need to update this stable rom.

Maybe your SD card is not compatible.

I deleted the registry changes and there was no effect, after i jult deleted the whole content of the RGU file but let the first rule plus an new rule there it worked perfect. I think that the comment by OEMizer was the problem.

230XX has many new features, the UI has been greatly changed. Recently I don't have time to deal with this tree. Also they are still unstable. As far as I know, there is a least some bugs of contacts in 23088.

I'm stil trying to build my own ROM with your latest wm6.5 package and it's going well but there are still some things i need your help for...

I'm trying to move all the start menu items in to separate folders (like Tools, System, Internet and so on...)

Most of the items i have already moved to the folder of my choice but i have problem with 2 items... Task Manager and Sim Manager.

I found them (i think) in SYS\OEM_Lang_0409\initflashfiles.dat and both moved them as follows.

You can use Resheck to change the icons of any EXE or the icons in DLL files. The simmgr double out but it won't cause the problem. \x0054\x0061\x0073\x006B\x0073\x002E\x006C\x006E\x 006B is the unicode.This is written by MS.

my normal RW6815 is still working perfect (except for some MS bugs) but i bought an extra RW6815 to build in in my car for in-dash navigation. I like WM6.5 but because of the RAM consumption i want to use WM5 on it but without any additions like transcriber, office and so on. I want a realy light and fast WM5 rom.

When i use the kitchen tools the rom is nicely unpacked and the OEM and SYS folders are correct created, no moving of folders needed. But there is no RGU file. When i make one with the right name in OEM/default and put an registry dump of an clean WM5 rom in it i can not build the rom... when i use no RGU files i can build and flash the rom but is off-course not working.

Do you know a way to dump the rom with the RGU files?

how to get all audio on handsfree-bt-headset on rw6815 with wm6.5?

is there a trick or workaround? any registry-hack or option, e. g. with a2dp? any other options?

want to use bt-headset with handsfree-profile with skype.

Yes, it is in XIP, encoded in UTF16. You can use a hex editor to search it out. This include the version numbeer 1.01.6

Well, it is of course better to use provxml and it will work if you do the things right. But if you get things wrong, everything will break. It may require many trial and error.

Do not flash if this error occur. It won't work. Are you sure the error is still "unable to open diskimg.nb0" after copying the diskimg.nb0 from FLASH to ROM directory? Is the permission of file correct?

Did'nt found a solution f the publisher warning but when i sign the programs i install as OEM there is no warning for that... so that part is solved but nog for new software installed by CAB...

I cannot remember i had problems with that ROM on my RW6815... Will flash the ROM for you on my RW6815 to check :)

EDIT: You can also use the latest WM6.5 ROM, if you download the file just unpack and copy diskimg.nb0 from the FLASH folder to your storage card and flash with the normal procedure.

EDIT 2: No problem with WIFI, can connect to my WIFI router and can open XDA in PIE...

You need to edit the rgu file in OEMDriver directory. That RGU will override yours.

found the policies part in that file but not the specified policies i need to change acording to another topic on XDA and when i just add the policies there's no chance of working... the values are still the default ones...

It should be in a provxml or RGU. Default.hv has the lowest priority in the registry. You can try to search it in the provxml in OEM directory. I remembered that I have seen it. I hope you can find it.

I have a HP Ipaq 6828 that already has a 6.5 rom that I got off this forum somewhere about six months ago, and have recently found that there are a few different versions and thought I might try some out and see which I like...

my problem is that no matter what method I try my phone will not update. I've tried putting various .nb0 files on my 3 mini sd cards and load it up in the boot loader screen, but every time it loads back up with the current rom still intact.

I've tried using .nb0 files from 6.1 and 5.0 versions and still I get nothing.

I've tried following the XP steps stated in the first post of this program however I have windows 7 and I don't know if this is causing me problems but when it goes into the bootloading screen to install the new rom it just sits there for a bit then the phone restarts back to the current rom and the program fails.

And lastly I've tried going back to the original rom as described on the first post as well as trying to install the v1.01 bootloaders but both applications come back telling me that the "Update is incompatible"

Yes, there is only about 100K - 200KB free space left. If you add something big, it will report error. You will need to delete something in order to add big things. If you do not use IE, you can delete browseringie, it will give you about 7MB free space!

Every time, you successfully run the program, it will give you how many sectors left. It is 4KB each sector. So it it says 0x20 left, it will be 128KB left. The ROM space is less than 64M(I don't know exactly) and it is not simply add up every component because of the alignment and the fixed address module.

There is a registry to edit the spaces between menu items but I forgot where, maybe in some GDI or GWE\Menu.

For the m$ beta ROM, you may need to try newer version to see if m$ fixes things.

Sorry to be a pain, but can anyone help me to reflash my HP6828? none of the convensional methods appear to be working to flash from my current ROM and I'd really like to try out some other ones :( See the quoted post for more details.

I tried using your kitchen to modify Ariey's ROM. When I got to the step where I use pkgtool, after selecting the dump folder, nothing happens. No OEM and SYS folder is created. Is there something I'm missing?

Because he delete the dsm files so other people can't modify his ROM easily.

You device is invisible to other diveces - it is standard options in BT - just set to "visible to all" and share some folder.

Just curious, how come whenever I flash it on a 1GB card... it went into the PBE mode but then reboot as WM5 back.

Hi.. newbie here... I have upgraded my 6828 to the latest WM 6.5 version.. But.. It seems to be missing the WPA2.. Should I install anything else?

storage cards of 1GB and above are reported as most of the times not working...

storage cards of 256MB of 512MB are no problem. Or try to find an 2GB Transcend card, that one worked for me all the time without any problem.

As far as I know WPA2 is not supported by the on-board chip of the RW6815/RW6828. The authentication protocals the RW6815/RW6828 do support are: Open, WEP, WPA and WPA-PSK.

Long time no see.
I have seen M$ have just release the official 6.5.3 DTK. So I will consider update the clean ROM to the latest M$ official release.
