This is normal for 6.5 ROMs. I removed the adobe flash, ringtone and sample music as there is not enough ROM space. Nothing else.

Got it, 1 more thing. When I remove browsingie, device boot normal but not when I do the same thing to Browsing and BROWSINGCORE. Which mean, atom cant boot coz theres something important in it. I'd like to remove IE completely. Any idea?:D

Hello everyone, i have some problems when i upgrade my PPC.
please see some photo i post & give me some advice.
Fisrtly, i don't know why my total storage memory is only 43.28 Mb(as i know, 6828 have 64MB ). i have just upgrade rom 6.5 from NHOCBANME.before i upgrade this rom, i use rom 6.5 from helloworld rom 20091012b-f and have the same main memory. when i use rom 6.0 from NHOCBANME, my PPC have about more than 60MB but at this time, it has bootload of atom : MN1 and in system info or some program say that my ppc is atom. So, when i bootload to BL 1.0.01 and up any rom of hp 6828, it always has about more than 40Mb main memory.
Secondly, i try to downgrade my ppc to WM5 by using rom from website of HP. As you see in some picture in .zip file; 3 rom WM5 (1.00.03;1.01.03 &fix gms) have the same error.my phone have english language & i tried to use rom chinese language, too(so it didn't run :D )

I don't know why M$'s make the decision to remove the bubble breaker in the DTK. Maybe they have a better game in WM7.

For everyone who (just like me) misses Bubble Breaker in this 6.5.3 Build I made an CAB installation for this game.

The files are installed in the Windows directory (as in the older builds).
The start menu icon is the higher resolution PNG file (as in the older builds).
The game works just perfect (as in the older builds).

i still cannot understand why they deleted it because the start menu PNG file is already present in the Windows folder...

If there is a problem with the CAB installation let me know...

Maybe incompatible or because it is only for Atom Life. Atom's ROM > WM6 are all based on atom life's ROM and drivers.

.mp4 files does not really mean the video is compressing using MPEG4. You can try TCPMP to play it.

Boot into bootloader screen, connect to PC, extract HP's .exe updating package, replace the hpruu and run.

If it is still has problem, I don't know. Sorry.

It should be your SD card problem. You need a card <= 1G.

Some 1 GB card can be used to flash your phone some not..you have to try..I'm using 512MB SD for this purpose.

1) newer Wm6.1 have bluetooth limitation where only 2 bluetooth devices can be added
2) camera does not initiate MMS program correctly(usually you can take the picture and call MMS from camera and picture will be attached to MMS, but not the newer built, including yours R1 & R2)
3) how to stop activesync always running in the background, this drains the battery and ram

1. Basically I won't release new 6.1 Roms.
2. It is MMS's problem. I haven't found a way to fix that.
3. There are many ways to stop that. But the are not working for a long time. It will appear overtime. The simple way is: In activesync screen, get out the keyboard, press ctrl(Control key, blacken it) and then press "q". It will exit it temporarily。

This seems related another known issue. In Jbed, you can't input the password.

Take out the battery, press the two softkeys (the "-" buttons) and DON'T release them... when pressing the buttons put back in the battery en keep holding the softkeys for about 20 seconds. If you did it right then bootloader is show and your screen is flickering. Don't worry about the flickering cause is will flash properly.

And keep in mind that 2GB card most of the time not work!

Now i got back my HP6828 with 6.5 b337. But i found some minor issue on bluetooth function. It alwasys showed " connected " status. Although device is disconnected. And no "Add new device" line is disappeared.

This is a known issue of incompatibility of old driver and new wm6.5 bluetooth stack. You can only add 2 devices. There is a workaround to add new device.
Go to registry editor and find the bluetooth in HKLM/software/microsoft and find the "devices" key, there you can move your devices out of t he devices to any place and then you can add new devices through the setting -> bluetooth. After that, move your old devices back to the devices key so you can have more than 2 devices.

There is a flashlite 3.1 for WM6.5 you can search it out and try.
Also my previous roms >=6.1.4 < 6.5.3 have it included in the ROM.

I have already got flashlite 3.1 and tried with my WM6.5
However, it still doesn't work. I suspected some other cause or flashlite 3.1 is not complatible. I'm looking for flash player activex 10 to try. Thank you your several suggestions so far.

Personally, I still love it more & more. Most of applications i have installed (love to have it on my rw6828). There are..

- Flash light to turn on LED (very useful at night time,).
- Remote Novii
- GPS (with external receiver).
- Skype

BTW i'm looking for wifi router program to make it as wifi router. At the moment I have got one but still can't get it work yet.

Anyone used to try it? Here's i attached the picture of program.

I have updated the b337 release on my HP6815 using a MiniSD card of 128mb and after the process was complete the screen was showing me a lot of different colors vertical lines then I reset the machine and after restarted finally I can see the instruction that ask me to tap the stylus on the screen and while I was doing this the screen went completely black and now i cannot see anything anymore on it and it seems like the backlight is not working anymore because i can see some kind of very dark shadow on the screen but I cannot be sure what is the problem.

Did anyone have any Idea what can have possibly happen to my pda and have any idea how can i fix it?

I guess now you meant can't turn on the mobile. Correct? If yes, try this. Take out the battery, press the two softkeys & hold its (don't release them) (the "-" buttons) and use another hand to put back the battery & keep holding the softkeys for about 20 seconds. The bootloader will show up. Don't forget to put the ROM on SD. It will be installed again.

I used to installed WM6.1 b229 on rw6828. It worked very well & stable.
Not sure whether what HP model are you using? I suspected it might be uncomplatible ROM with your HP model. Just my opinion.

yes.i agree with you that b229 work very well. so i doubt that my device's hardware has some problem. Can you compare the information in your device with some informations in my photos? Another problem i post that now my HP6828 has only 42MB in main memory and i can't fix it( normally it has about nearly 60MB ). before i upgrade some rom (from NHOCBANME, hello world) , it had no problem. i tried Atom rom too, but after upgrade, it did not work. For this reason, do you think atom rom brick my device?

yes, i upgraded rom 6.5 b318 like you but have the same problem. because system info is not show necessary infomation, i think my device has something wrong in hardware. When i check IMEI of my HP 6828, this infomation show that:

The first problem is my device has bootloader of ATOM, not HP. because of this situation, i tried upgrade ATOM rom but it didn't work(success in bootload but the screen did not work.so follow some instructions, i brought it to HP's bootloader 1.0.1 . It worked and i can upgrade to WM 6.5 and still have about 54MB main memory.

No HP asset viewer just show the one in registry.
Upgrading using PC via hpruu may be the key point to fix the corrupted flash ROM. It has once fixed some strange problem in my device.
eboot.nb0 and diskimg.nb0 are working with SD card. But other part may not.

BTW, your device might got unreliable memory (weak on some memory sector). Keep using it. :D

This is a known issue of incompatibility of old driver and new wm6.5 bluetooth stack. You can only add 2 devices. There is a workaround to add new device.
Go to registry editor and find the bluetooth in HKLM/software/microsoft and find the "devices" key, there you can move your devices out of t he devices to any place and then you can add new devices through the setting -> bluetooth. After that, move your old devices back to the devices key so you can have more than 2 devices.

1. Device cannot do text messaging, it has sms menu, but nothing happen after tapping on it.
2. Cannot connect to wifi router for internet.
After seeing many roms, i thought to flash mine into the most stable, buit i doubt after finding these problems.
Any suggestion on new rom ? If flashing using new rom will eliminate previous messaging and wifi prblems, I;d be happy to do it.

That's greate. The Diamond's touch screen is very bad. I have tried it for a while and can't get used to it. I think as resistive screen, 6828 is one of the best.

If connection goes down for timeout while I am using the device, it works, correctly, and if needed it reconnect automatically.

If connection goes down while device is in stand-by, for example for an automatic check mail and screen powered off, goes to the strange state, network is disconnected but terminal report connected, but with error

Why dont you try with J.S.Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3?(needs .Net Framework3.5) You can change many settings in Power mangement and Network. There is a "Disconnect after:...mts" in Menu->More settings-> Connections. Perhaps it will disconnect after checking mail till the next scheduled check.

This method will almost surely fix such problem:
1. Use patch hpruu to revert to official WM5
2. Install any ROM.

This is because your current bootloader or radio have some problems. You need to re-flash all the parts.

I wonder if it always happens. If not, just reset again will fix it.

If you can't boot into system. Try to use patched hpruu to flash back to WM5 and then flash any customized ROM. It will fix most of the strange problems.

I followed these steps:

I know your problem, the radio part corrupts but the bootloader is normal. The faint screen with lines is normal. The radio part should be reflashed!
I see you can use atom's ruu so use it to flash corrupt radio.
put following files in the folder:

If the semi-brick recover method does not work and the screen keeps black. You may think it is dead.

I am using N1. It is a superb device. Super fast and super stable. My first N1 has some touch screen problems. But after swapped, everything is fine. HTC's custom service is very good~!

Now I have 2 devices one is G1 and one is N1. N1 is my main device for the phone, web and etc. The G1 is mostly for development. It is running on CyanongenMod. N1 uses only stock ROM.

Much thanks, it helped a total of ... But the problem is that it installs the ROM with bootloader and reboot it stays on the screen and does not start to win, it's still standing and the battery LED does not flash me or off :confused:

EDIT: Now I give and original ROM and went well, but after the automatic restart PDA again standing on the welcome screen HP

ROM is 1.01.03 WWE and BL 1.00.05

EDIT2: So it is working, I had to load downgrade bootlader v1.00.1 ... and then re-ROMs.

Why dont you try with J.S.Advanced Configuration Tool 3.3?(needs .Net Framework3.5) You can change many settings in Power mangement and Network. There is a "Disconnect after:...mts" in Menu->More settings-> Connections. Perhaps it will disconnect after checking mail till the next scheduled check.

I tried this utility present in another rom I tested, unsuccesfully.
I belive there is some incompatibility between WM6.5 and my carrier, because I found the same troble on a samsung Omnia II (branded from operator)

Now I ha a trouble wit USB battery recharge.
It works only if I plug my 6815 to a pc or with original HP recharger. I try 3 different Car lighter To USB adapter, The small battery status icon change to external power but orange light stay off, and if I use with a BT GPS as street navigator battery goes down.
Is this an hardware feature o depend from software?

Can you still boot your system? If you can get into bootloader, you can try to flash eboot.nb0 using SD card or you can use Atom's upgrade utility to flash HP's bootloader.

Yes cyanongen is a good ROM, i still try to port it to legend.

It is $529 without a contract. After using Android, I would say I will never use WM 6.xx again. It is much faster and smoother. Also developing for it is quite easy.

Well, I bought it in US and I got directly from Google. It is still expansive in China because they are imported from US or EU. The shipping fee is considerable.

I am using HTC Legend, don't ever compare android and WM, Android is 1000 times more better than WM. WM is dying now :D :D :D

There is a way to boot android from the SD card in 6828. But it is a very old Android image and does not work well too. The screen get shifted.

It may not worth to do. Howevery, I really doubt that how do they control the code (Open OS, like android)from developpers? It's weakness of Open OS.:confused:

They have their official repo. People can't directly commit code to it. You can only fork the code and make modifications yourself.

But I could not go into keyboard option to fill the code register resco keyboard. does b337 have not a keyboard option to put this code? :confused:

My Atom is still going strong as a standby phone. I do remember your endeavour in developing a 6.5 clean rom for our beloved Atom!

Hi, I recently got hold of an atom and wanted to upgrade it to wm 6.5 to use it as my backup phone. However, I ran into some problems.

I downloaded the latest wm6.5 rom (20100218b337), copied it to the memory card (1GB Kingston) and put the phone in bootloader mode. The phone detected the card and started to download the OS image. When the progress reached 100%, the following messages appeared on the bootloader screen.

SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'eboot.nb0'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'dm.nb0'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'flash.img'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'agent.mot'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'mot.mot'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'CPLD.img'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'assetInf.img'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'extended.img'.
SDDownload: Couldn't find file 'MDOC.img'.

After that, it starts a hard reset and then starts to flash the "HP iPAQ Multimedia Messenger" splash page every few seconds. This continues indefinitely (I've checked for 2 hours, nothing new).

I ran the bootloader again and ended up with the same result.

Could someone please tell me what I did wrong and how I can fix this?

My bad. Didn't realize that this rom was NOT for the O2 XDA atom.

Fixed it by installing wm6.5 atom rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628026

Note to atom users: The Device Software Update Utility does not work in windows 7. Took me an entire day to figure this out since the utility starts up ok but always shows a connection error when you click "Upgrade." Works like a charm with Win XP.

Currently enjoying WM6.5 and saving up to buy an android phone :) .

You can use patched hpruu to revert back to official 5.0 and its bootloader and you can recover the storage.

Looks like you haven a RW6815? for this device there is a Patch... search for "pda-hack.net_hp_rw6815_camera_patch_wwe.CAB".

You should find it here on DA or try Google...
